[FR/EN] Belkî sibê (Peut-être demain/Maybe tomorrow)
Crowfunding : https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/belki-sibe-maybe-tomorrow#/
It’s not my project but a comrad’s one, here is a presentation.
“Belkî Sibê (Maybe Tomorrow) : A Journey Through War and Revolution”“Belkî Sibê (Maybe Tomorrow) : A Journey Through the Syrian War and Rojava Revolution” is a planned documentary film by Alexis Daloumis and the Shadow Crew, about the war against ISIS in Syria, and the Rojava Revolution. It covers the period from the battle of Manbij (Summer 2016) until the liberation of Raqqa city (October 15, 2017) and the destruction of the Islamic Caliphate and the December 2, 2017 elections. It has been produced by an internationalist volunteer (Alexis Daloumis) and all the people that helped in many ways along the way (The Shadow Crew). In this documentary there will be no main character. There are instead many voices from a multitude of places that come together to create a collective and dialectical narrative, that seek to illuminate both military and civil/political aspects of the situation that is still unfolding in Northern Syria, from both internationalist and local perspectives. It contains footage from operations and defensive battles where the director has fought (Manbij, Raqqa province, Tabqa, Raqqa city), as well as from the everyday life in the rear, special occasions, celebrations and ceremonies. Moreover there is large number of interviews from people of all backgrounds: High ranking officers, simple soldiers, politicians, civilians, Kurds, Arabs, Internationalists, Turkmen, Syriacs etc…
Our Needs and Our Tasks
There are hundreds of hours of material, whose processing requires a lot of labour from various skilled professionals in order to complete the film. The more money we can get out of this campaign, the more people we will be able to employ to this end. In addition to the standard requirements of post production, there is a massive amount of translation needed, mostly from Kurdish and Arabic. We are planning to give this work to refugees, and we want to be able to pay them well.
We have broken our costs down:
1.Translation(Kurdish and Arabic to English): We plan to hire professional translators from the refugee community here in Greece, many of whom have been displaced by the conflict this film documents. The more we raise to this end will allow for more footage to be translated - not limited to just that which will feature in the film, but the many more hours of footage that, while not making the final cut for the film, is still valuable and will be released freely as well.  Minimum 5000 Euro
2.Color and Audio Processing: Due to vast variety and sheer volume of footage (battle footage, static interviews, civilian life), the colour grading, audio processing and other technical production will be expensive endeavours (one of the most obvious problems is that a significant portion of the raw footage has very problematic audio that will need careful attention). This work will require the purchase of hardware but the main expense in this category will be the hiring of professionals. Minimum 10000 euro.
3.Editing: While the filmmaker and the team have already shot the footage with a creative vision in mind, we will need to hire a professional editor along with a team of sub-editors to produce a feature length documentary as well as to edit the entirety of the material.  Minimum 10000 euro.
4.Festival Fees, Travel Expenses, Incidental and miscellaneous costs: The cost of submitting the documentary to film festivals is substantial and travel budgets can be minimal – the more money we raise would allow for more submissions. Minimum 5000 euro.
Our Goals
We believe that this documentary will tell many stories that need to be told, contextualizing the involvement of many parties in the struggles of Northern Syria over the past few years.
Our hope is that the documentary will inspire and inform many across the world, spreading the same lessons learned by those who experienced these historic events in person.
But beyond the film itself, the usefulness of this material can vastly exceed the potential of one feature length documentary. The Syrian War and the Rojava Revolution are historical events of great significance in our period of time. The entirety of the material will become valuable historical archive footage, an anthology of oral history, recorded as it was happening. We want to have the opportunity to process all of it and make it available for posterity. After this it will be released under a Creative Commons or similar license.
[Also, there are even side projects that can be created out of its processing. Short and medium length documentaries, about more specific or derivative thematics, such as an already envisioned short documentary about the reemergence of the American Left and Antifascist radical politics in the USA, based on the extended interviews of American internationalists.]
Finally, this film is not a commodity. It will not be sold, it will not get commercial cinema or television distribution. It will be circulated in as many festivals as possible around the world and released, freely accessible on the internet.

Support for Regionalist Parties in England.
by AndWeObey:
Inspired by /u/bezzleford (cheers for the advice btw!)
The numbers represent the amount of votes each party received at the last national general election they stood in. The percentage is from the region they stood in, not as a % of the whole country.
Ranked by number of votes they received:
The Yorkshire Party (Founded 2014)
Pragmatic centrist and Pro-Yorkshire Regionalist party. Stood in 21 constituencies across Yorkshire for the 2017 General Election.
Aims:
A Yorkshire Parliament and control of our own destiny. Yorkshire’s interests as we leave the EU. Investment in our region's infrastructure. Integrated health and social care, delivered locally. Better education for our children. Protection of our greenbelt and a green Yorkshire. A sporting and cultural Yorkshire.
http://www.yorkshireparty.org.uk/2017_manifesto
Mebyon Kernow (Founded 1951)
Centre-left, Pro-European, Cornish Nationalist Party. Did not stand in 2017, but stood 6 candidates in 2015 across Cornwall.
Aims:
The historic Nation of Cornwall has its own distinct identity, language and heritage. As one of the four nations inhabiting the British mainland, Cornwall has the same right to self-determination as England, Scotland and Wales. Mebyon Kernow is leading the campaign for the creation of a National Assembly for Cornwall, with the necessary powers to unlock Cornwall’s true potential.
https://www.mebyonkernow.org/
Lincolnshire Independents (Founded 2008)
Did not stand in 2017. In the 2015 General Election they stood in 5 seats across Lincolnshire.
Aims: Despite the name they do not advocate independence, but localism, by getting national party politics out of local government.
http://www.lincolnshireindependents.org.uk/
The North East Party (Founded 2014)
Only stood in 1 constituency (in County Durham) for the 2017 General Election. In the 2015 General Election they also stood in Cleveland and Tyne and Wear.
Aims: A better deal for North East England generally and a devolved assembly in the North East with powers similar to those in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, if approved by a referendum.
http://www.thenortheastparty.com/
The Northern Party (2015-2016)
Now defunct. Stood in 5 constituencies (in Lancashire) for the 2015 General Election.
Aims: Devolution of power to an autonomous Northern region, and for business investment and environmental protection.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Party
Wessex Regionalists (Founded 1974)
Only stood in 1 constituency (in Wiltshire) for the 2017 General Election. In the past have fielded candidates across the historic boundaries of Wessex (Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Avon)
Aims: To promote the cultural and economic identity of Wessex, and to establish a Wessex Parliament with devolved powers similar to those of the Scottish Parliament.

MONTHLY MEDIA: September 2017
We’re leaving behind beaches and boogie boards for ghosts and goblins and I couldn’t be more stoked! Here’s all that I consumed over the month of September.
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) After watching this video exploring why the film is so great, I’d decided to check it out and OH WHOA IT”S SO GOOD! It had well-written characters, a great sense of history, a compelling villain, and even a love story that I could get behind (I generally prefer platonic relationships). If you’ve never seen it, go check it out.
It (2017) So I’m not a diehard Stephen King fan and I didn’t really grow up in the 80s so this movie just didn’t do it for me. The stuff between the kids was great but I suppose I was expecting…more? Maybe some cool psychological shapeshifting stuff to separate the kids in the sewers? Or more of the library scene where you’re not sure if it’s IT or the librarian? Instead we got “okay we’re stronger together…let’s separate” and that just didn’t cut it.
Tumblr media
The Girl With All the Gifts (2016) Probably the artsiest zombie movie I’ve ever seen and it was great. Fairly faithful to the book but of course can’t go into the same sort of character nuance. Whether you’ve read the book or not I’d still recommend it.
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) You know I’d never seen this all the way through and there are way more gunfights with pirates than I would’ve expected. Anderson’s films seem to always feature 8-15 men and 2 woman as (one as voice of reason and one as love interest) and it’s kinda bumming me out. Visuals, as always, are some of my favourite in cinema.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
Terrace House: Aloha State (Episode 1.01 to 1.20) Definitely a shift in tone from Boys & Girls in the City but it’s still very kind television. The panel will never not be the best part of this show and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who likes chill, feel-good reality tv.
Rick & Morty (Episode 3.07 to 3.09) The show seems to be keeping its bleak tone but at least they’re not just focusing on Rick being a dick. The serialized direction is really serving the characters but I’d love an occasionally contained episode as a bit of a break.
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (Complete) Just fantastic. I had a bit of trouble with the fact that every woman in the story is described as beautiful until a friend pointed out that this is the main character’s perspective and that’s how he sees the world. So I spent the rest of the book with the knowledge that this was a biased recounting of events and it changed everything for the better! I think the nature of the story would lend itself to be a great audio book so I can’t recommend it enough.
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami (Page 56 of 607) I’ve only just started but I already get a vibe I’m onto something special. I remember seeing something about one of Murakami’s books spending time in a spirit world and I can’t remember if it’s this one (and don’t want to spoil myself by finding out). I’m just gonna roll with it and see where it goes.
Tumblr media
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The IDW Collection Volume 4 by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Paul Allor, Sophie Campbell, Mateus Santolouco, and more (Complete) The plot in this volume was really focused on setting up the next big conflict so it didn’t hook me the same as the swifter pacing of earlier chapters. With that said, I love Campbell’s take on April and the Turtles, and there were a couple cool character introductions. I still can’t recommend this series enough to any turtle fan.
Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye Vol. 1 by Jon Rivera, Gerard Way, Michael Avon Oeming, and Nick Filardi (Complete) I really wanted to like this. It has a pulpy premise, it’s written by Gerard Way, and the cover looked appropriately engaging, but it just didn’t work for me. I appreciate the art style but tonally, it didn’t fit (except in the more psychedelic scenes) and has a real 90s aesthetic. I was also super bummed that the trade ends in a cliffhanger but I don’t think I’m going to keep with it.
Tumblr media
Sandman Vol. 10 - The Wake by Neil Gaiman + countless excellent artists (Complete) This was a fitting end to such a unique story. The funeral plot was fantastic and the last chapter was a great reflection on the series, but there were bits in the middle that felt like filler. And the idea that Morpheus looks to others for their stories since he doesn’t have his own seems…off. Weren’t the first couple trades focusing on his recovery and return to power? The later instalments definitely put him in the supporting character role but that wasn’t always so. I dunno it just weakened the ending for me. Still great.
DEATH Deluxe Edition by Neil Gaiman + countless excellent artists (Complete) Reading a Death-centric anthology made me realize how much more interesting of a character she is. Morpheus was always a little too gloom for me (especially given that he’s the personification of something so imaginative and sporadic as dreams) so spending more time with Death was a treat.
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Perpetual Touch by DIANA (2016) My bestie recommended them since it has everything I love: synthesizer, female vocals, and an upbeat tempo. I caught the last 2 songs of their set at a show (the gig poster’s design was misleading on what band was playing when) and their vocals were SO ON POINT! If you dig the album and have the chance to see them live, do it.
Hounds of Love by Kate Bush (1985) This is what happens when you watch a VOX video on gated reverb.
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Dungeons & Dragons Hexcrawl Campaign (Wizards of the Coast) The party discovered that a wizard has been enchanting dolls to pull off a string of local robberies and the tower was a veritable column of chaos! Basically I really liked that one scene in IT with all the clowns and went from there. Now that the mystery of the crimes have been solved, it looks like the party is on their way to investigate a cursed mansion.
Octopath Traveller (Demo) (Square Enix) It’s been a while since I’ve delved into an RPG but the Switch is making that so so easy! I love the mechanics and while it’s a little chatty at the beginning, it’s well-paced when it gets going. I’m looking forward to the full release next year.
And that’s it! As always, let me know if you have any recommendations for things to play, read, watch, or hear!
Happy Saturday.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund National Leadership Conference 2017
On the morning of August 17th I fly out of SFO after making Anthony drive me to the airport unreasonably early *pulls neck collar nervously and chuckles*
Anyway, the first HSF scholar I met was actually Brandon, from Gilroy, who sat behind me on the plane. Thursday we were all supposed to wear college gear, so I figured the only other person repping a college would be going to the NLC too. After landing and meeting some other people from our super shuttle -- namely, Derek, Sabrina, and Andrea -- we all checked into the Loews Hotel together.
Tumblr media
It was a super pretty place, inside and out, and literally on Hollywood Blvd! None of us got as great of view as Brandon did though since he was on the 17th floor, BUT you could see the Hollywood sign and at night I just adored the twinkle of the city lights.
So we check in, right, and we are like immediately handed a t-shirt, backpack, jacket, business cards, and three different pamphlets. Coming from the Gates conference where we didn’t get all that much and stayed in a regular hotel, I was pretty -- and pleasantly -- surprised.
So on Thursday programming did not start until 4:00 pm, but the group of us had finished checking in around 1:30, so guess who decided to hit Hollywood AGAIN? You got it, this gal *points to self with thumbs up*
Tumblr media
So here I am, in front of the Chinese Theater, of course posing with the Harry Potter gang. I guess though you can say -- especially from this picture -- that Emma Watson is hands down the best. *laughter ensues from all reaches of the universe*
Tumblr media
And now here I am freaking out over my Legolas/William Turner. (Fun fact: it actually took me a while to realize they were THE SAME PERSON LOL)
Then finally, a group shot before returning for the welcome, keynote reception, and networking session.
Tumblr media
When it was time for bed, I decided to get ready for the next day rather than going out since my stuff got all wrinkled on the way there and I just really don’t like wrinkles. I know, I know, I am LAME. But anyway, after fixing my stuff I laid down in bed and next thing you know, I was OUT.
So Friday and Saturday (until 3:00 pm that is) are pretty much packed with programming and team building activities. We heard from multiple speakers including:
Nely Galán - Former President of Telemundo (Ayeeeee), President & CEO of Galan Entertainment, and Founder of The Adelante Movement!
She told us her story about making her way through a catholic school she couldn’t afford by selling avon products from her locker and ultimately becoming the youngest guest editor for Seventeen Magazine (I think). Anyway, point being, Nely is definitely a go-getter, and it really motivated me.
Antonia Hernandez - I think all I have to say about Antonia is that she is absolutely amazing. She spoke briefly in a panel about her experiences growing up in a family which was originally not too supportive of her education and then being, at the time, one of the only women in law school. I think out of all of the speakers I related to her the most in terms of how I was raised, but also the values I hold dear to me. Like Antonia, I think dressing the part is very important -- gotta fake it till you make it, yeah? -- and I also think that having loved ones near is very important. So anyway, as y’all might expect, I left the room in tears because I couldn’t deal with all of the inspiration and emotion.
Edgar Sandoval -  Current Chief Operating Officer of World Vision U.S. and former Vice President of Global Feminine Care at The Procter and Gamble Company.
Edgar’s former position dealing with feminine care means that he was responsible for... drum roll please!
youtube
Ah yes, the “Like a Girl” campaign.
Edgar spoke about his experiences coming to the United States and being denied acceptance -- at first -- to the engineering program at his school because of the language barrier, but then graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering AND a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He continued by saying that he was able to rise and succeed because of those who believed in him like the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, so he wanted this campaign to help millions of girls -- including his daughters, one of which is special needs -- overcome the challenges they may face and succeed. By the time he finished the whole room was at their feet and practically in tears (or at least I was).
Antonia and Edgar were most definitely my favorite speakers of the whole conference (Nely was also up there) and their words are not going to leave me for a long, long time. They certainly don’t know who I am, but one day they will, and I will let them know how much their stories impacted me.
Flash forward to Saturday at 3:00 pm, we all load onto buses and drive on over to Santa Monica!
Tumblr media
Before this year, I had not been to the beach (or LA for the matter) but since March, I have been to the same beach three times!
So we all fatten up at this cute little outdoor catered dinner and get unlimited ride wrist bands and 10 dollars for carnival games. Before indulging in the games though, we broke up into our teams for a scav hunt! The items on the list were all California or HSF sponsor themed, so here’s a pic:
Tumblr media
Jen, pictured to the left of me won every single carnival game she played, so she ended giving away one of her bears to a couple there, adorbs huh? Anyway, after all the fun and FUNnel cakes, we boarded the buses and headed home around 9. Many of us were exhausted after the beach, so my roommate Tracie, from UT, and I just fell right asleep after we got to the room.
And finally here came Sunday! We all gather in the lobby bright and early for a group photo:
Tumblr media
I am aware the quality of this photo is subpar, but professional photos haven’t been released yet, so how about we cut me some slack, yeah?
After the picture was taken, we got some breakfast and listened to Fidel -- President and CEO of HSF -- give us a bit more insight into his background and close the event. My shuttle left almost immediately after the event ended which kind of sucked since I didn’t get to hike to the Hollywood sign with some of the scholars, but I would much rather get home at a reasonable time (sarcastic shout out to LEDA).
All in all, I am really glad I decided to apply to the NLC. I remember hearing about the program during the Gates conference and feeling super intimidated about my chem grades, so I am glad I got over myself and just applied. I still remember the night the application was due and I was trying to build a resume from scratch -- shout out to Ariel and Juju for the help -- the night of nomads.
It was all worth it, and I came out of the program with just a little more clarity, dignity, and discipline. A diploma really is forever. <3

Eye Makeup Market - Geography Trends, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2018–2026
Tumblr media
Different types of eye makeup products such as mascara, eye shadow, eye liner, and pencils are manufactured in variety of shades and grades, which are used to enhance the appearance of the eye and to accentuate the beauty of the eye. Growing demand for eye makeup products among working women population is a major factors driving the market growth.
Furthermore, growing e-Commerce industry in the beauty and personal care segment is further propelling growth of this market. For instance, L’oreal a leading player in the cosmetics market has an 11% share of selective cosmetics market via E-commerce. Leading online stores such as Amazon, provides consumers a wide range of branded products such as mascaras, eye liners, and others at lower prices and discounts with easy accessibility. Additionally, increasing penetration of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other fashion blogs is further creating awareness about the latest makeup trends, which is further propelling growth of the market. For instance, according to the Malaysian export authorities, Malaysia has a population of 31 million, of which 22 million are internet users and out of which 68% are online shoppers. Thus, online shopping segment in the eye makeup market is expected to gain high traction over the forecast period.
Moreover, increasing marketing activities and advertisements by leading market players such as L’Oreal, Unilever, and others is expected to be another major factor for growth of the market. For instance, in 2017, to celebrate the success of its brand, Voluminous Original Mascara by L’Oreal, it launched a campaign called the, The Original, featuring eleven women and focusing on unique perspective on original style.
Request For Sample Copy of this Research Report :
https://www.coherentmarketinsights.com/insight/request-sample/1465
Market Dynamics:
Factors such as rapid adoption of eye makeup products in order to enhance appearance, favorable growth of cosmetics market with 35% share in Asia Pacific and 24% share in Europe coupled with increasing demand for natural cosmetics are driving growth of the global eye makeup market. Moreover, increasing number of working women globally is creating a conducive environment for growth of the market over the forecast period. According to U.S. Department of Labor Blog, 74.6 million women are in civilian labor force and over 47% of the U.S. workers were women in 2017.
However, stringent regulations imposed on use of cosmetics ingredients by government authorities such as FDA, EU is a major restraint for the market growth. For instance, EU Commission regulation no. 1223/2009 is the main European legislation governing cosmetics products in Europe. According to this regulation, a person responsible for placing cosmetic products in European market should keep Product Information File (PIF) and the product information needs to be updated regularly.
Increasing new product launches and product innovation by key players is expected to another factor supporting growth of the market. For instance, in 2017, EYEKO launched a multipurpose waterproof eyeliner that claims to stay under extreme sport conditions. Additionally, it comes with built-in brush and sharpener to ensure that the liner is always on point. Similarly, Maybelline also launched a new Total Temptation mascara with coconut oil.
Market Outlook:
Among product types, mascara segment accounted for highest revenue share in the market in 2016 and is projected to retain its dominant position throughout the forecast period. Factors such as low cost, ease of use, and ease of availability are expected to aid in growth of this segment. For instance, in January, 2017, companies such as L’Oreal India and Hindustan Unilever Ltd, invested significantly in eye makeup by introducing more easy-to-use product formats in kohl, eyeliners, and mascara with smaller and affordable packaging for eye shadows. However, allergic side effects such as eye irritation associated with extensive use of mascara may hamper growth of the segment.
Among applications, mineral makeup segment is projected to gain major traction in the near future. Multiple advantages associated with applying mineral makeup such as better coverage, suitability for all skin types, and better protection against sun rays are projected to fuel demand for mineral eye makeup products.
North America was the dominant region, in terms of revenue share, in the global eye makeup market in 2016. This is owing to presence of leading players such as Procter & Gamble, Corporation, Avon Products, Inc., Revlon, Inc., and established supply chain, in the region. In 2016, according to survey report by L’oreal, the average spending of a consumer in the U.S. on eye cosmetics from 19 to 24 years of age is US$ 49 and US$ 28 by consumers of 14 to 18 years. This is major factor for growth of the market in the region.
Asia Pacific is projected to be the fastest growing region in the global market over the forecast period. High growth of personal care industry in emerging economies such as China and India are creating a conducive environment for growth of the eye makeup market in Asia Pacific. According to India Brand Equity Foundation, in India, personal care market is expected to reach to US$ 20 Billion by 2025. Moreover, over 62% of young consumers in big cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru prefer to buy beauty and grooming products online, whereas, 45% of consumers tend to buy cosmetic, apparel items from any shop of their convenience rather than a single shop.
Increasing demand for halal cosmetics such as eye, face & lip care products in Middle East is a growth opportunity of eye makeup manufacturers. Amara Cosmetics, in 2016, introduced a new eye makeup halal product, press eye shadow, which is manufactured without the use of any alcohol and animal ingredients. However, stringent regulations imposed on use of ingredients in cosmetics is a major challenge for growth of the market in this region. For instance, in 2016, Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization (GSO) replaced old labelling cosmetics & personal care product standards (GSO 1943/2009) by new standards (GSO 1943/2016). This new standards implies new packaging standards such as declaration of nano-particles, name of cosmetic products in Arabic language and amendment of the annexes according to EU 1223/2009.

Paula Abdul inspires world through charity efforts!
Paula inspires the world with her many humanitarian efforts.
“So time over time what will change the world, no one knows? The only promise is a day to live, to give and share with one another. See the wisdom from mistakes in our past; the promise of a new day.” -Paula Abdul
Charity is important and frequently overlooked but there are people who put their heart into the world in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same, inspiring one person at a time.
And it’s awesome to see talent spend time doing what they love most, helping others. In fact, it was just in 2017 when Paula Abdul received the Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award from The Music Business Association.
According to Business Wire Abdul is an “empowering ambassador of We.org.
“Abdul is an ambassador of We.org, where she uplifts and empowers tens of thousands of youths in cities circling the globe as a speaker for We Day—a movement that unites world-renowned speakers and performers to celebrate the power young people have to change the world. This year, she partnered with Turnaround Arts, a signature program of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, to adopt a school in Brooklyn, NY, and help foster arts education in impoverished schools across the nation. In 2014, the Avon Foundation for Women tapped Abdul as their Avon Global Ambassador for their international #CheckYourself digital campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.”

President James Donio opened up about Paula Abdul’s charity effort.
“Paula’s philanthropic efforts are a prime example of how artists give back to their community and the world. We are pleased to recognize her and hope her example will remind everyone how important it is to donate time, energy, and influence to charitable causes.
Abdul opened up about the award and her love for helping others in life because it brings “joy.”
“I’ve been blessed to be able to do what I love for a living, but it’s helping others that really brings me the most joy. The work itself is the true reward, but I hope this recognition will bring further awareness to the causes I fight for and inspire others to do the same.”

Truthfully, there are endless issues people face each day. And while we may be in our own world it’s important to open our eyes and take action. In fact, Paula Abdul stands as such a positive example, one we should follow.
There are many ways to get involved with charity and you don’t have to be rich. In fact, you can start doing charity in your home-town. There are many shelters that need assistance.
There are even recreation centers that need more volunteers, as well as nursing homes.
Daniel Radcliffe talks Charity and more!
Paula Abdul has constantly put her heart into helping the world by taking part in causes including Abuse, Adoption, Fostering, Orphans, AIDS & HIV, Alzheimer’s Disease, Animals, At-Risk/Disadvantaged Youths, Blood, Marrow & Organ Donation, Children, Creative Arts, Depression and Suicide, Disaster Relief and so much more, check it out on Look to the Stars.
She’s quite inspiring and we’re glad to see the effort, love and passion she puts into her work.
It shows in her fandom as well, we had a fan reach out about Paula Abdul. And it truly made us smile. She shared:
“I’m listening to her music now! I just love how caring she is and she’s an awesome dancer and a hard worker! her songs are so good too! she’s gorgous and has the cutest laugh!”
Finally, the big question, what can we do now to make a difference in our community or world?
Sound off in the comments below and tell us which efforts you think more attention.

Heidi Cullinan, “The Christmas Fling”

Heidi Cullinan, “Shelter the Sea”

Heidi Cullinan, “Clockwork Heart”
PD : Que lis-tu actuellement ? HC : Tu sais ce que je lis le plus ? Des webcomics, en particulier les webcomics chinois. Aussi, la traduction anglaise de The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, également chinois.
HC : Absolument ! Merci pour cette interview.

Synopsis
Sequel to The Doctor’s Date Copper Point Medical: Book Three
Once upon a time Nicolas Beckert was the boy who stole kisses from Jared Kumpel beneath the bleachers, but now Jared’s a pediatrician and Nick is the hospital CEO who won’t glance his way. Everything changes, however, when they’re stranded alone in a hospital elevator. Ten years of cold shoulders melt away in five hours of close contact, and old passions rekindle into hot flames.
Once out of the elevator, Jared has no intention of letting Nick get away. It’s clear he’s desperate for someone to give him space to let go of the reins, and Jared is happy to oblige. But Jared wants Nick as a lover in a full, open relationship, which is a step further than Nick is willing to go. They’ve traded kisses under the bleachers for liaisons in the boardroom… and it looks like the same arguments that drove them apart in high school might do the same thing now.
Jared’s determined not to let that happen this time around. He won’t order Nick from his shell—he’ll listen to what his friend says he needs to feel safe. Maybe this time he can prescribe his lover a happy ever after.

Bounty Hunter Street/Strip 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Is No Dog
Muscle cars were a common sight at Jack’s Esso in Lockport, New York, during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Owner Jack Poyfair kept busy performing typical bread-and-butter auto repairs, but he would also work on high-performance street cars, street/strip cars, and racecars.
“It was gas station, but we changed motors and transmissions, and we rebuilt a lot of components,” Poyfair recalls. “I installed a lot of headers. There were a bunch of guys hanging around the station who had fast cars. One guy had a 427 Ford medium-riser. There was a guy with a 1958 Pontiac with a late-model engine in it. We had a couple big cars with 283 motors that wanted to go fast. I owned a white 1965 GTO convertible, 360-horsepower Tri-power, four-speed close ratio transmission, and 4.33 gears. The GTO didn’t have any headers, it was more of a street car, but it was pretty quick. We had a lot of fun.”
New and aggressive restyling for the Chevelle in 1966 brought the bulging rear quarter-panels and swept-back C-pillars with the signature tunneled rear glass design found on other GM intermediates.
A certain Regal Red 1966 Chevelle with skinny Cragars and “Bounty Hunter” scrawled on its fenders was part of the landscape at Poyfair’s gas station. The car was owned by Nick Colaizzi, a loyal employee at the GM Harrison Radiator plant in Lockport, New York. Bounty Hunter was powered by an L78, and it was no dog.
For early 1966 models, Chevrolet offered two engines in the newly introduced Chevelle SS396. Standard was the L35 396ci Mark IV big-block with two-bolt mains and oval-port heads rated at 325 hp at 4,800 rpm and 410 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm. Initially, the only optional powerplant in the SS396 was the L34 engine. With a hotter cam, it was factory rated at 360 hp at 5,200 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm.
A few months into the model year, Chevrolet quietly began to offer a top-dog performer underrated at 375 hp and branded with the RPO code L78. Simple math deduced that its upgrades—four-bolt-main block, compression increased from 10.25:1 to 11:1, solid-lifter cam, bigger rectangular-port heads with bigger 2.19-inch intake valves, and bigger 780 Holley on new aluminum intake—would add up to more than the advertised 15hp bump over the L34 motor. Later tests would put the motor closer to 425 hp. Those in the know knew about the L78. Nick Colaizzi knew.
The 396/375hp L78 engine option was installed in 3,099 Chevelles, including SS396 hardtops, SS396 convertibles, and El Caminos. The idler pulley assembly mounted on the passenger-side head was installed on the 1966 L72 427/425 fullsize cars and the L78 Chevelles. Owner Larry Robison has heard that the purpose of the idler pulley was to provide an extra belt that would keep the water pump running in case the alternator belt broke.
He Persisted
Early in 1966, Colaizzi entered Heinrich Chevrolet in Lockport, New York, to order a 1966 Chevelle SS396 with the L78 engine. Though the people at Heinrich Chevrolet were (and still are) great people, the salesman had not received notice from Chevrolet of the L78’s midyear introduction. Fearing the order would not go through, he suggested ordering the L34 360hp version. Colaizzi persisted. The salesman ordered an L78, and the order was accepted. One month later, Colaizzi became the first owner of what would become one of the most desirable Chevelles ever built, one of 3,099 1966 Chevelles built with the L78 engine.
For the first six months of ownership, Colaizzi’s SS396 served street/strip duties. His passion for drag racing grew, as did his pursuit of making his Chevelle faster and more competitive. He sought out Jack Poyfair to help him make the Chevelle faster. Poyfair answered, “If you can beat my GTO, I’ll work on your car.” They raced, Colaizzi won, and the two men became fast friends building a fast car.
The single-reservoir master cylinder worked fine in 1966 and still does the job today. The trim tag mounted on the firewall shows the crucial 13817 code, which indicated in 1966 that this car was indeed a Chevelle SS396 Sport Coupe.
Many hours were spent working on various combinations and trick parts. Colaizzi says, “Those were good times spent together working on the car and racing it with Jack. He’s a great guy. At one point, I asked GM for sponsorship, but they said no. The Chevelle did well, and we did our best to make it fast.”
The Bounty Hunter’s racing career spanned from 1966 to 1974. Colaizzi put the Chevelle in storage with the hopes of restoring it sometime. It would remain in storage until 1993, when he decided that he would have to sell his prized Chevelle.
For 1966 Chevelle SS396 cars, the L35 and L34 versions of the engine used oval-port heads with the casting number 3872702. The L78 engines used casting number 3873858 rectangular-port heads with 2.19-inch intake valves and 1.72-inch exhaust valves. The spark plug heat shields are absolutely spotless in the highly detailed engine compartment.
Enthusiast Extraordinaire
Enter Larry Robison, Chevelle enthusiast extraordinaire and longtime employee at the GM Parma Plant in Cleveland, Ohio. Robison likes 1966 Chevelles—he likes them a lot. Though many Chevelle guys trumpet the glory of the 1970 LS6, Robison says, “I would stand on the hood of a ’70 to get a look at a ’66.”
Robison was checking out the Cleveland Trading Times in 1993 when he came across a 1966 Chevelle SS396 race car for sale. His interest was piqued when he learned it was an original L78 car, only showed 2,109 original miles, and had been campaigned on the dragstrip as the Bounty Hunter. He called Colaizzi, who was moving to Nevada and not able to bring his Chevelle with him. Robison made a deal to buy the car and all the spare parts as a package. The parts filled a box truck, and the car was transported back to Robison’s home in Ohio.
The black SS’s interior had virtually the same layout as standard Chevelle models. The A51 Astro Bucket seats were a $110.50 option. Check out the crazy-expensive D55 Center Console With Clock, which came in at an outrageous $47.40, the typical tab for your daughter’s wedding reception at the local Howard Johnson’s.
Bounty Hunter stayed in storage until 2009 while Robison worked on a few of his other project Chevelles. Once work began, he took the body off the frame and restored it to original condition. The rear quarters had been pushed out to make room for slicks. Rather than replacing the quarters, Robison worked the metal to get the quarters close to straightened out. He then had paint and body expert Paul Clark finish the metal work and paint the car in its original Regal Red hue.
Robison brought the car back to his house and began assembly with the help of friends and Northern Ohio Chevelle Club brethren Ron Thompson, Mark Meldrum, the late “Big Ray” Tumbry, and George Kelovski. The car was finished in 2015, and debuted at MCACN that year.
Behold the reason that the 1966 SS396 is superior to all other Chevelles: the “knee-knocker” tach. Since original owner Nick Colaizzi went with the $79 U14 Special Instrumentation Package with the L78 motor, he got the 7,000-rpm tach, plus a mechanical oil pressure gauge and gauges for amps and water temperature. The knee-knocker tach could be ordered separately as RPO U16 on any V-8 Chevelle.
In 2017, Robison and Mark Meldrum arranged to reunite Colaizzi with the restored Bounty Hunter. Jack Poyfair was also called in for the occasion. “It was great meeting Larry and Mark, and seeing Jack again,” Colaizzi says. “Larry did a great job restoring the car. Seeing it again, and getting to drive it, brought back a flood of mixed emotions. It was really a tremendous experience.”
These days, Robison proudly displays the Bounty Hunter at various shows. Mark Meldrum will sometimes park his Bounty Hunter tribute car next to it. Robison’s not a tough guy to spot at a car show. He’s the one jumping on the hoods of 1970 Chevelles to look at 1966 Chevelles.
The swept-back cut in the fenders for the entire 1966 Chevelle line created lots of traffic in Chevrolet showrooms. According to Chevellestuff.net, total 1966 Chevelle production was a strong 447,364 units. Of those, 66,843 were SS396 sport coupes and 5,429 were SS396 convertibles.
At a Glance 1966 Chevelle SS396 Owned by: Larry Robison, Avon, OH Restored by: Owner, Paul Clark, and friends Engine: 396ci/375hp L78 V-8 Transmission: Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed Rearend: 12-bolt with 4.10 gears and Positraction Interior: Black bucket seats Wheels: 14×6 steel with caps Tires:  7.75-14 Firestone Deluxe Champion redlines Special Parts: 7,000 rpm “knee knocker” tachometer, best e.t. 11.73
The body-colored rear cove treatment on the SS396 was often painted black by Chevelle owners. Larry has spoken to a number of people on the subject and has concluded that the coves on SS396 cars were never painted black at the factory.
Bounty Hunter at the Dragstrip
Nick Colaizzi’s Bounty Hunter Chevelle was raced most often at Niagara International Drag Strip. It proved to be an excellent race car that brought Colaizzi and Jack Poyfair a good measure of success, thanks in large part to Poyfair’s mechanical efforts.
“We worked on the cylinder heads, tried different camshafts, stagger-jetted the carburetors, used steel and aluminum flywheels, and changed the collector length on the headers just to get a tenth of a second out of the car,” Poyfair recalls. “Nick had an edge in driving. He was good on the tree, pulled the gears really good. He knew he had to go through the traps at 7,400 rpm to get a good run.”
Colaizzi is thankful for the support and friendship of Poyfair, as well as the help he received from his brother Dick and his son Nick. Over the years, Colaizzi had a few racecars, but the Bounty Hunter Chevelle was always his number one race car.
The Bounty Hunter is the third Chevelle that Larry Robison has restored. Northern Ohio Chevelle Club member Mark Meldrum was so committed to giving Bounty Hunter its proper due that he created a tribute “as-raced” Bounty Hunter from one of his 1966 Chevelles.
The absence of lettering suggests that this shot, taken at Niagara International Drag Strip, was early in the car’s life. Cragar SS wheels and the tow-bar plate are installed.
When Colaizzi was asked how the car’s name came to be, he said, “I told Jack we’re going to name it like we’re going to go after somebody.” Interestingly enough, Colaizzi would later purchase the big-block 1966 Impala you see in the far lane.
The lettering on Colaizzi’s car was very typical for any race car of the day. “Jack’s Esso” was painted on the quarters in appreciation for all the work Jack Poyfair put into the car.
Check out the M&H Racemaster tires on the back. “I set up the rear that used to jump out of the gate hard,” says Poyfair. “I wedged the control arms so that they would be stiff with brackets from the rear housing to the control arms. It worked well.”
