It's really interesting that Soyo and Sakiko are both from single parent households, and they became responsible for housework and taking care their parent. But their circumstances are completely different, like widower vs divorcee, newfound wealth vs newfound poverty, or how Sakiko's father says he resents her when he sees her vs Soyo's mother who adores her but is often absent.

Also I'm pretty sure that Sakiko couldn't afford having a band that didn't pay (she seems to be making a lot of money with Ave Mujica). Even if she did talk to them, she knew that they couldn't really do anything. I do believe that if Sakiko was willing to sacrifice more, they could have stayed together, but she already gave so much. She did what she had to

I really think that last part is why Oblivionis has that puppet master theme and evil cult leader demeanor. It’s an attempt to assert control over an area of life, since she so sorely lacks control over everything else.

And Nyamu is not helping with this!!!

I really really REALLY. want to compile my thoughts on ep1. but my head's a mess. sakiko's my new blorbo tho (temporarily most likely, at least until we get muko lore).

at least i want to say that it's a fascinating choice that her main character flaw aside from her Control Thing is loyalty, a trait that is by itself a positive characteristic. she's so loyal to her core, but in the end she can't be loyal to everyone — she must choose between being loyal (to an extreme degree perhaps, but an ultimately selfless one) to her family or being loyal to CRYCHIC. it's such a fucked up thing to put a child through. i think the reason why I resonate so much with it is that, by itself, is quite similar to Saaya's own backstory, however the key difference that sets them apart (wealth aside) is that while Saaya's family was extremely loving and supporting, Sakiko's family was not.

That's the worst part of it. None of this depends on Sakiko. She can try to control the situation by trying to take care of her father and support the two of them financially, but it does not take away the fact that she's just a high schooler.
