I really think that last part is why Oblivionis has that puppet master theme and evil cult leader demeanor. It’s an attempt to assert control over an area of life, since she so sorely lacks control over everything else.

at least i want to say that it's a fascinating choice that her main character flaw aside from her Control Thing is loyalty, a trait that is by itself a positive characteristic. she's so loyal to her core, but in the end she can't be loyal to everyone — she must choose between being loyal (to an extreme degree perhaps, but an ultimately selfless one) to her family or being loyal to CRYCHIC. it's such a fucked up thing to put a child through. i think the reason why I resonate so much with it is that, by itself, is quite similar to Saaya's own backstory, however the key difference that sets them apart (wealth aside) is that while Saaya's family was extremely loving and supporting, Sakiko's family was not.

That's the worst part of it. None of this depends on Sakiko. She can try to control the situation by trying to take care of her father and support the two of them financially, but it does not take away the fact that she's just a high schooler.

Being a henchman suuuucks dude. This latest guy I'm working for, the War-Madillo, he's got a, an Armadillo- motif, or theme, or whatever, right? That's fine, fine, I did a two-month stint with a Marmoset-themed guy once, it's not bottom of the barrel- except. Except. It turns out, he picked the Armadillo thing because he thinks that they're obligate carnivores. Which they kind of are, I mean I googled this, they're insectivores, but he thinks that they're like, land piranhas. He thinks they work in packs to take down significantly larger animals. He thinks they lay eggs in the remains of their prey. He's killed like three guys for trying to correct him. Me and the other guys are paying out of pocket to get the poor little guys in his Armadillo pit food that they can actually eat. Every time he drops some sucker into that thing we all have to draw straws to see who's gonna have to go in and gnaw on the body so he thinks the Armadillos are doing it. Thank god it's such a long drop

Discord is really good, but Loop’s design works extremely well with their overall role in the story and personality. The game has a (very much purposeful) kinda “saccharine Tumblr found family” vibe with the rest of the (human) main cast, but Loop’s amps that vibe up so much that it becomes obvious condescension which is visually seen by their blindingly white star head, which is usually all you can you see of them.

At the same time, later in the story Loop becomes the only actual calming presence in the cast, as the protagonist not having to pretend that he is doing well mentally in front of them, in part due to Loop’s hostility not giving them any reason to. As such the calming starry black void represents this part of their role in the story!

the phenomenon of people talking about the cost of "AI" in energy and water while ignoring everything else they use that also spends those same things is very telling

you do not know the process behind production of the things you take for granted. you think your computer is a magic box that connects to the astral plane. you never think about the cables and servers and water cooling and electricity cost and the workers who build and maintain the infrastructure etc. etc. except for the thing you don't like and were told the cost was a good excuse for why you don't like it

you also don't think about the cost of so much more. the food you eat, the phone in your hand, etc. you just know it costs an amount of dollars at the store

this isn't about being a morally bad person for not thinking about this. this is about not getting bogged down on the supposed inherent evil of 1 specific thing you were told to hate because it's the only thing that you realize needs to be produced using material resources. and instead becoming a marxist
