Autumn Song
By Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Know'st thou not at the fall of the leaf How the heart feels a languid grief Laid on it for a covering, And how sleep seems a goodly thing In Autumn at the fall of the leaf?
And how the swift beat of the brain Falters because it is in vain, In Autumn at the fall of the leaf Knowest thou not? and how the chief Of joys seems—not to suffer pain?
Know'st thou not at the fall of the leaf How the soul feels like a dried sheaf Bound up at length for harvesting, And how death seems a comely thing In Autumn at the fall of the leaf?

feeling those autumn vibes lately, so I had to put it to text. and after a very belated realisation that Tove Jansson wrote Höstvisa, this came to be 🍂
more chapters will be added eventually. I just needed to write something other than my much too long, angsty fic (which I'm adamant about not posting until I have it at least 90% done - which will be quite a while)
but I can never make purely lighthearted fluff. it has to hurt a little. which autumn is the perfect season for with these two 💔
I hope you enjoy! 🍂🍂🍂

Now's the time when children's noses
All become as red as roses
And the colour of their faces
Makes me think of orchard places
Where the juicy apples grow,
And tomatoes in a row.
And to-day the hardened sinner
Never could be late for dinner,
But will jump up to the table
Just as soon as he is able,
Ask for three times hot roast mutton—
Oh! the shocking little glutton.
Come then, find your ball and racket,
Pop into your winter jacket,
With the lovely bear-skin lining.
While the sun is brightly shining,
Let us run and play together
And just love the autumn weather.

Good morning tumblrites
Hello from Australia
Every morning is a chance to make one beam!
on waking.
did you have wonderful peaceful dreams?
Today another Autumn song.
To which all Australia lovingly belongs ... Misha

Come away oh human child, to the waters and the wild, with a fairy, hand in hand, for the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
