I’ve been getting into Transformers recently and I just learned that this scene from the animated movie, where Prowl and Ironhide are killed by the Decepticons:

Has been officially recreated in toy form:

And from what I can tell the Transformers fandom is not feeling it:

And the toy has been marked down to half off on Hasbro’s own website.

Yet they’re still going forward with a “sequel” featuring dying versions of Brawn and Ratchet from the same scene:

The thing is: I am the target audience for this. I love the 1986 movie, and one of my favorite parts is when Megatron bursts in, screams “Die, Autobots!” and then proceeds to ACTUALLY KILL THE AUTOBOTS.

It’s an early scene that lets you know the stakes are higher this time, important, named characters aren’t safe. And also it’s set to a really cool hair metal song called “Instruments of Destruction.”

So of course I ordered the dying Ironhide/Prowl two pack.

Fun fact. The gems from Steven Universe? They’re apparently closer to mechanical life forms then organics. And since they can canonically breed with humans, that means a TF could probably breed with a human too.
