"Canada, Mexico and car companies have been declared the winners in arguably the most important trade dispute under the new NAFTA, landing the U.S. on the losing side in a case about calculating the origin of auto parts.
The long-expected decision was known for weeks to the parties involved, yet it was withheld from public release until after North American leaders appeared together at a summit this week in Mexico.
It involves small print with big consequences for the industry at the heart of the continental trade agreement: Automobiles.
At its core, the dispute was about how hard to push car companies to use parts from North America, at a time when countries are seeking to pry back manufacturing jobs.
The specific case involved two conflicting methodologiesfor calculating the origins of a car's parts: One stricter, one easier.
Americans took a hard line. The U.S. wanted the toughest interpretation of the rules, which would force cars to include more North American parts to avoid a tariff.
Mexico fired off a suit against the U.S., calling its method damaging, costly to companies and counterproductive to the continent's car industry.
Canada joined the suit. Car companies eagerly supported the suit. And the complainants ultimately won."

"Strike Leader Held 'Undesirable Citizen'," Border CIties Star. April 16, 1934. Page 3 & 13. ---- Mr. Eansor Asks His Deportation ---- COMMISSIONER WONDERS WHY WORKERS ARE DEPENDING ON COCHRANE AND STEWART AS COUNCIL O.K.'S TAG DAY ---- ORGANIZER DOUGLAS STEWART of the Workers Unity League is an undesirable citizen who probably has never done an honest day's work in his life and should be deported to the land of his origin.
That's the opinion of Commissioner Norman D. Eansor delivered at this morning's session of Windsor City Council. The council, after a warm battle, authorized the Workers International Relief to hold a tag day in Windsor on behalf of the striking employes of the Canadian Motor Lamp Company, Limited, of East Windsor.
Greeted With Derision A roar of derision from the audience greeted Commissioner Eansor's aggresive defence of manufacturers and other employers of this area. His listeners gave vocal vent to their opinions when he declared that all employers of the Border Cities are trying to be fair to their staffs. The audience laughed him to scorn.
Mayor Croll threatened to have police clear the hall in the event of further outbreaks.
Commissioner Eanser shouted back his defiance:
If these people who are doing the booing were out this morning looking for work, we wouldn't have the conditions we have today. The same faces have been seen here for the past three years. They are not looking for work.
The ire of the audience was invoked by the commissioner's statement that all the plants here with parent bodies in the United States can move over to the other side and can supply their products to Canada. They don't have to be in business here. They are only trying to provide work. The industrial leaders are trying to put their shoulders to the wheel.
Charges Lock-out Mayor Croll insisted the Canadian Motor Lamp Company had locked out its employes and its president, H.J Warner, had refused them the lawful right to collective bargaining. He believed the Dominion Government should step into the picture and force the company to a proper arbitration.
The mayor and Commissioners Dayus, Bennest and Fleming voted for the tag day, while against the strikers were Commissioners Eanor, Curry and Duck.
Commissioner Fleming joined with Commissioner Eansor in the attack on Organizer Stewart and his colleagues and, incidentally, charged as "deliberate liars" the committee which sought funds here last year on behalf of the striking furniture workers of Stratford. When the vote was taken, he switched over and voted for the tag.
Funds Needed The W. I. R. deputation comprised Georgina Ketchesen and Charles Newbury. Mr. Newbury said the lamp works strike has all the earmarks of a prolonged affair and funds are needed to feed the strikers and their families and the pickets.
"How many pickets?" asked Commisioner Duck.
"We have fed as many as 2,000 pickets in one day," reported Mr. Newbury.
Commissioner Eansor asked "Who heads this strike? and Commissioner Fleming sked "Are you an employe there?"
The delegates explained they were a committee from the W. I. R. which extends assistance to any group of strikers.
"To this man Stewart the head?" persisted Commissioner Eansor.
"No, he's just in here deliberately trying up a lot of trouble volunteered Commissioner Fleming.
Spontaneous Strike "The strike at the lamp company was spontaneous Mr. Newbury submitted. "The Auto Workers Union was not responsible. The employes asked the union for an organizer. The men organized themselves before Stewart was invitd in."
"Where is this Stewart from?" asked Commissioner Easnor. "He is from England," said Mr. Newbury.
"A good country, observed Commissioner Bennett, ha native of the north country. "But where did he just come from?" persisted Commissioner Eansor.
"I can't tell you that but he's the Canadian organizer," answered Mr. Newbury.
"Who is Cochrane?" demanded Commissioner Eansor.
"He lives in Walkerville," said Mr. Newbury.
Mayor Croll broke in with: "These lamp workers didn't need organizers as you can see from their pay list. They should have walked out long ago."
Commissioner Eansor wondered why they are not "working out their salvation without Stewart and Cochrane."
"I will not support a tag day," he continued, "as long as this Stewart is going around the factories pulling the men out. What is he living on? He must be getting a fee from the men."
Don't Know That "You don't know that," reminded Mr. Newbury.
"Stewart must be getting something," insisted Commissioner Eansor. "Why have the strikers got to have him dictating to them when they have families at home to be taken care of?"
After sitting uneasily by through all this, Commissioner Bennett broke out with: "All this is beside the point. It makes no difference about Stewart if the men are not receiving a decent wage."
Mayor Croll added: "It is not a question of the color of Stewart's eyes if the cause of the men is justified. Warner has taken the position he must deal individually with the men. I wouldn't if I were there."
"Why not?" queried Commissioner Eansor.
"Because," the mayor retorted. "collective bargaining is a lawful principle in all civilized countries. Warner has closed the plant and locked out the men. I think this may be a case for the government. He should be forced to open it again."
East Windsor Tagging Commissioner Eansor, after discussing the rights of employers to differentiate between employes, declared the strikers should hold their tag day in East Windsor.
"I'm absolutely against a tag day." Interjected Commissioner Curry, his first observation, although he seemed vastly amused by the debate.
"Stewart is an undesirable," charged Commissioner Eansor. "Eighty per cent, of the men would go back to work if Stewart went back to where he came from."
Mr. Newbury said the agitation for higher wages and improved working conditions could not be killed by the removal of one man or two men.
Commissioner Eansor thought Stewart is "too smart for the strikers" because he "won't go to work himself."
"He's a duly appointed organizer of the union," said Newbury.
Mrs. Ketcheson told the council: "Any person with any sense can see that $18.60 for 63 hours is not enough for a man with a wife and four children."
Right to Organizers Commissioner Eansor still wanted to know why organizers "had been imported."
Newbury said the Workers' Unity League has the right to its organizers as the American Federation of Labor or other unions.
Commissioner Eansor wanted to know again how Organizer Stewart lives. Mr. Newbury said he is living with friends who are able to support him.
"Did he ever work?" asked Commissioner Eansor caustically.
"Does he like candy, you have not asked that!" suggested Mayor Croll.
"Many of these strikers have been on relief for two or three years," maintained Commissioner Eansor. "During that time these factories have been in the red. They are trying to come back gradually."
"By taking it out on the men?" asked the mayor. "They have always made the profits while exploiting the men," insisted Mrs. Ketcheson.
Never a Day's Work Commissioner Eansor suggested that possibly Organizer Stewart "never did a day's work in his life, but he is making a the big thing out of this. If workers would get away from Stewart and have him sent back where he comes from, I'll support a tag day."
"Do you consider $18 a fair wage." asked Mrs. Ketcheson.
"All the employers want to pay a fair wage," returned Commissioner Eansor.
A roar from the audience ensued.
Commissioner Eansor said this: "Labor always has been a bugaboo here. It's down east you want to cause your strikes, down where the competition is and where the low wages are paid. Start down east and work this way with them."
Mrs. Ketcheson charged flatly that Commissioner Eansor's view was biased "cause he has material in the lamp works where the strike is and wants to get it out."
The commissioner said he could obtain his material from other sources.
Abominable Wages "Any place." declared Commissioner Bennett, "is a good place for a strike where wages are abominable and they were abominable at the lamp works. I don't care if the organizer comes from Timbuctoo or where he comes from."
"Warner," revealed Mayor Croll, "was warned by the auto manufacturers to pay higher wages and they would pay him more, but he wasn't interested."
"I'm interested in seeing this strike carried through successfully and I'll vote for a tag day," asserted Commissioner Dayus.
"This is the same committee." charged Commissioner Fleming, "that came here for a tag day for the Stratford strikers and said they were starving. I find they got sufficient funds to carry them from last October until this March. They were not starving."
"I don't believe that statement." asserted Commissioner Dayus frankly.
"They said the strikers were starving," persisted Commissioner Fleming. "It was a deliberate lie."
Wage List Published Commissioner Fleming said he did not know what salaries were being paid at the lamp works. The mayor reminded the wage list already has been published. (Also, the company's offer has been published.)
"That list," the mayor said, "should satisfy any person the wages were atrociously low. Of course that doesn't apply to all the factories. Some are willing to pay more and are moving up wages gradually."
Commissioner Eansor said the strikers could go back on relief.
"The relief department," he said. "is still running. We're not asking them to work for an unfair wage."
The mayor considered this solution "strange," either go back on relief or work 63 hours.
"Who is going to say what's a fair wage?" challenged Commissioner Eansor.
"It's time somebody did," retorted the mayor. "I'm against a lockout. Warner wouldn't lock the plant if I were in authority. Ford tried it in the States and the U.S. Government stepped in."
Free Country "That's not here, this is a free country," maintained Commissioner Eansor.
"Free for some, perhaps," observed the mayor.
Commissioner Bennett declared every employe has a right to organize and bargain with the boss.
"I've always been fair to labor." claimed Commissioner Eansor.
Commissioner Dayus suggested the council ask the lamp works for a copy of its 1933 payroll in detail.
The vote was called at this juncture when the council indicated no desire to enter negotiations with the company.

How technology is reshaping the aftermarket auto parts business?
Automotive demand is growing continuously, and the industry is going through a significant transformation. And the increasing demand for technology is changing the scenario of services, which encompasses the sale of aftermarket auto parts. In this article, we are going to discuss how technology impacts the spare auto parts business.
Let's read it out:
Overcoming Challenges and Concerns
Technology is addressing the challenges of the business and helping the spare parts business reach its goal. It allows you to examine how
The industry is tackling business issues related to product quality and authenticity, warranty claims, handling returns, and building trust and credibility in online transactions and buying. Because people are not yet convinced it is a safe medium.
Automotive Cyber Security
To prevent malfunctions or assaults, cyber safety, and security have become one of the top objectives due to the development of technology in the automotive sector. To protect automobiles against malicious attacks, illegal access, and unwanted manipulations, cyber security is being further developed across a variety of sectors. The automotive sector will undergo a major transformation as a result of cyber security due to the car OEMs and their supply chains upgrading hardware and software for stronger cyber defenses.
Lowing Emissions and Pollution
Automobiles may now be purchased for less money and with more ease than ever before because of mass manufacturing and the outsourcing of parts. Due to growing per capita income levels and declining car prices, there has been a major growth in global demand for automobiles. The gases are a consequence of burning fossil fuels and are bad for the ecosystem and all living things.
Automobile owners may save one-third of the cost of conventional fuels on transportation by using electric automobiles. Technology advancements in the auto sector include hybrid cars and vehicles that use alternative fuels. Due to the rising cost of gasoline, electric automobiles are becoming quite popular nowadays. In the summer of 2020, there will be a noticeable increase in the number of electric charging stations, according to research.
Every business is moving toward more environmentally friendly technologies as a result of the negative consequences that human activity has on the climate. Since burning fossil fuels contributes significantly to environmental degradation, governments all around the world are enacting tough regulations on emission standards. You can greatly reduce emissions by altering your lifestyle and the way you drive.
Distribution
The way that consumers purchase and automakers market their products has possibly been most significantly impacted by digital technology. Before the internet became widely used and current advancements in digital technology, clients lacked numerous means to assess and contrast their alternatives before buying a new vehicle. People did not have many options for making an educated choice when purchasing new automobiles, other than the brief commercials on television and print media and the time-consuming trips to car showrooms. Car purchasers now have access to a wealth of information, including opinions and evaluations of automobiles, to aid them in making a buying choice thanks to the development of the internet and digital marketing.
With the use of big data analytics and targeted marketing, automakers have access to more channels than ever before to promote their automobiles to consumers. The automobile sector has undergone a digital transition that has lowered barriers between businesses and consumers, allowing businesses to better understand the market.
The usage of virtual reality is growing, which is a new trend in the distribution of automobiles. To provide potential customers with a virtual tour of their products, major brand manufacturers have started implementing virtual reality in their dealership facilities. Fully realistic VR test drives could eventually spread throughout the car industry.
Conclusion
These are some points that will tell you how technology brings drastic changes to the aftermarket car parts or automobile industry. It emphasizes the need for the market to deal with the company's different kinds of efforts.

How to become a successful warehouse distributor?
The distribution business needs proper planning, financial stability, professional networking, and many other things. If you want to establish the Turn14 Distribution kind of business, it needs proper planning. You need to be customer-focused. Also, try to connect with the market specialist and know your business objectives. In this post, we have mentioned some tips for becoming a successful warehouse distributor.
Let's read it out:
Identify your industry
This is the first and foremost important part: identifying what you want to serve. Before establishing your business, you first need to decide what you want to sell and who your customers are.
You have to decide what product market you are interested in—any industry, from technology products to restaurant wholesale, is an option. Research different industries and the items sold inside them to make your decision easier. This study can assist you in locating information on distributor openings, prospective profit margins, and predicted market growth. Such knowledge can be critical to making an informed decision and developing a firm that is ready for expansion.
Choose your product
Find a product that meets a need before making your decision. To determine what their market wants, contact several merchants and ask for inquiries. This first step can also help you make possible sales contacts. You can also look at current market research and trends in a range of industries to see what problems consumers are having that you might be able to solve with a product. Consider familiar products or an industry in which you have some experience to simplify your market research procedure.
Another key factor to consider when choosing a product is your budget. To keep overhead expenses low and generate larger profits, choose a product that costs less to obtain from manufacturers.
Make your profile
Now create your profile before you pitch any company for distribution. Add information such as your location, work experience, finance sources, vehicle, space you own, labor, and so on to demonstrate a strong presence for you and your firm.
In between, highlight their current pain spots and difficulties and explain how you can help them solve them by selling their products quickly and profitably.
Make your proposal unique for each organization to boost your chances of receiving a response.
Build relationships
Networking is one of the most important factors in the distribution industry. In business, your relationships define you.
That is why you need to have a deep understanding of your target market and clients to build strong relationships. Keep yourself available or open for communication.
Operating Costs
All the companies are not the same; they have unique needs and operating costs. For example, if you want to start a clothing warehouse, it needs different costs, and if you want to sell power tools, it needs different operating costs.
Whatever things you intend to sell, you will need a warehouse or storage area to hold them, which will necessitate a rental, charge. Remember that if you lease a warehouse with office space, you can combine the two on one bill. If you are delivering locally, you will also need a reliable mode of transportation. Like this, there are lots of things you should consider as operating costs.
Conclusion
These are points that will help you start a warehouse. By following all these tips, you can become successful in this field and become a distributor like Turn 14 Parts.

7x03 analysis part 1 — Everything Air Ops
I promised helicopters, so now we get helicopters. I want to look into how Air Operations work in the 9-1-1 universe, in comparison to its real life counterpart in this first part. Then, I will try to figure out the location and intensity of "hurricane Ethel" during the clandestine operation in the second part. And finally, I will prove how risky it is to fly a helicopter into a storm and why Tommy deserves every bit of his Medal of Valor.
Location
Real!LAFD Air Ops operate (Station 114) out of Van Nuys Airport (VNY/KVNY). It's not only one the busiest general aviation airports in the world, it's also smack dab in between major green areas of the city of LA itself.
This location makes perfect sense in real life. Air Ops might get the occasional highway car wreck or urban structural fire calls, but most of their missions still consist of wildfire suppression and rural search and rescue. Being based at Van Nuys makes sure they can respond to emergency in a timely fashion.
in the 9-1-1 universe, the LAFD Air Ops are based at "Harbor Station", or Station 217. (Harbor and 217 are the same station, Chimney especially asked if Tommy was still at the 217 in 2x14 when requesting air support, unless the 911-verse LAFD has 2 different air operation units, which I highly doubt.) Obviously it has to be at an airport, because that's where the hangers and helipads are, and going by "harbor" I can only speculate that it's in the Harbor Region of LA.
The only non-military airport in the LA Harbor Region is Long Beach Airport (LGB/KLGB), but it's quite a busy commercial airport, probably not a good one to run emergency services from. There's also the Zamperini Field (TOA/KTOA) nearby in Torrance, although not exactly inside the Harbor Region, it's coastal and close enough to the 2 LA ports I guess? Feel free to create a whole new airport using your imagination though, as you know 9-1-1 is set in an alternate universe where geography and physics work differently.
Helicopters
The LAFD Air Ops have 5 medium (FIRE 1-5) and 2 light duty (FIRE 6/7) helicopters, you've heard Tommy in 7x04. Everything applies to the real world counterpart, but the medium type that real!Air Ops operate is AgustaWestland AW139, the Italian-made medium sized twin-engine helicopter with a 5-blade main rotor primed for emergency response and off-shore oil rig transportation.
It has auto-pilot, an anti-icing system for harsh weather and even auto-hover suitable for hoist rescue missions. In a passenger transport configuration, it can carry up to 15 passengers in a 3 row seating plan. In an SAR (search and rescue) configuration though, the middle row can be removed for gurney space. It's big and powerful enough to transport multiple patients, but at the same time, light and agile enough to get into difficult terrain.
The AW139 is designed to be flown by 2 pilots, flying solo is also possible, but only under VFR (Visual Flight Rules), with an additional certification, which LAFD pilots can and do. To fly it under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules), it always requires 2 pilots according to the FAA last time I checked.
The light helicopter type real!LAFD flies is the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X, a single engine twin-blade made in Canada. It's an relatively new airframe, set to replace the aging Bell 206, which the LAFD used to operate. It's quite a bit smaller than the AW139, it can only fit 1 pilot and 4 passengers.
While it's perfectly capable of carrying a Bambi bucket to assist with aerial firefighting missions, it's mainly used as a training aircraft for new pilots and HLCO (Helicopter Coordinator) when there is a major catastrophe that requires on-the-site air traffic coordination.
These are all brand new and sophisticated aircrafts that a mere TV channel can't get their hands on without a government budget. So for 911!LAFD Air Ops, ABC went to their usual helicopter service company for prop aircrafts.
Helinet Aviation provides all sorts of helicopter services from aerial journalism, medevac, delivery to regular chartering. All the 911!Air Ops scenes in 7x03 and 7x04 are naturally filmed in the Helinet hanger, for convenience's sake, at VNY, just a runway across from real!Air Ops.
911!Air Ops
Helinet hangar Street View
I believe I've identified all the helicopters shown in 7x03 and 7x04, but let's get the 2 in the background which probably do not belong to 911!Air Ops out of the way:
N72EH, a Sikorsky S76C++, still in its Boston MedFlight livery. Sold to Helinet in 2022, possible used as a medevac vehicle currently? Unlikely to have anything to do with 911!Air Ops, probably just happened to be in the background to make it seem like there were many helicopters.
The one Tommy flies Eddit to Vegas in is N67TV, an Eurocopter AS350B2 Écureuil (aka squirrel). No fire department would ever let employees take their expensive equipment out for a joy ride so it's likely that in universe, Tommy rented it from somewhere outside of the station. IRL though, according to this forum post, it's used as a backup helicopter for all its customer news stations, but also any TV or film production purposes outside of journalism.
Now, for the one seen in the hangar, therefore explicitly belonging to 911!LAFD:
N29HD, also an AS350B2, also a news helicopter. According to this reddit comment, it used to be shared between CBS and FOX, but now it seems to be configured as a dedicated aircraft for ABC7.
The one the who cares gang stole to rescue Bobby and Athena though has a fake registration number on it:
You just have to look up Helinet's fleet, and you will see this is obviously a DHL livery, and it's quite easy to find out that this is actually:
N211FN, an AS350B1 (so an even older variant than the previous two), operated on behalf of DHL for package delivery service.
Don't get me wrong, the AStar (how the AS350 is called in the US) is a versatile and reliable aircraft. It the 4th most produced rotorcraft in the world, someone even managed to land one on top of Mount Everest. But it's kind of small? It can seat only up to 5 passengers with 1 pilot, and there is hardly room left for any gear. There is also no space for stretcher, so anyone they rescue would have to sit upright. It's just not very realistic.
I have no idea what medium duty helicopters 911!Air Ops operate, we're unlikely to see them in the future. There is this Bell 205 in 4x12 Treasure Hunt, but it clearly says L.A County Rescue on the tail.
youtube
Pilots
Real!Air Ops pilots wear beige flight suits, it's the aeromedics who wear blue, and helitac crews wear orange. I'm not complaining too much though, Tommy looks good in blue. (I think the chief pilot wears dark blue, but I'm not sure.)
Helicopter pilots in general usually wear helmets, in case a particularly strong pocket of turbulence slams you against the body of the aircraft, or a bird decide to fly through the windshield into your face, but I get that it gets in the way of the camera, so I'm just gonna enjoy Tommy's beautiful face.
Real!Air Ops pilots work on a 24/48 shift schedule just like any platoon firefighters. Due to the danger of pilot fatigue on aviation safety, they do try to limit their continuous flight time to 6 hours before taking a prolong break.
There are 5 levels of pilots: pilot I (trainee), pilot II (probational), pilot III (full pilot), pilot IV (lead pilot) and pilot V (chief pilot). The chief pilot oversees the entire Air Ops and work on a 10 hour per day, 4 days a week schedule. The rest of the pilots are put into 3 shifts, each shift with a pilot IV, 2 pilot IIIs and 2 trainees/probies, together with 4 aeromedics. (Can't find the most updated version, the lastest one I can get my hands on is from 2022, so good enough?) Therefore Tommy's Bobby would not be a captain, it would be a lead pilot.
I've already explained in detail the timeline of Tommy's career as a firefighting pilot, but here is the short version of it: Once accepted into the LAFD pilot training program, he would have to train with the LAPD for 180 hours then back to the LAFD for 200 hours, that takes around 2 years, and by then he would be a probie. After that, he would have to slowly build up flight hours then train and certify for all types of missions on the medium duty helicopter, that would take another 2-3 years, and after that he would be promoted to a pilot III, which is probably the rank he holds now.
We can see from the form Hen submitted in 7x03 that she initially asked for Lucy as their pilot, as she's forgotten that Tommy also worked there. Fortunately Chimney called Tommy, as Lucy most likely would've still been a probie if not just a trainee.
Melton
I have no idea who he is.
I can sort of see his badge says "firefighter"? At real!Air Ops, everyone wears a flight suit as uniform, so that they can hop into a chopper in an emergency. I don't know what a dude in a regular uniform with the regular LAFD patch on his arm doing there.
Tommy's arm has the Air Ops helicopter patch on it.
Real!Station 114 though do have a crash unit staffed with regular firefighters, maybe Melton is with them? But then, why is he doing with Hen's helicopter requisition?

Time period post: Schools
Honestly surprised I didn’t cover this topic sooner, considering the characters are in high school. I’ll stick mainly to that range but I’ll bring in some broader information just for some additional knowledge. Like all my posts like this please consider this a starting point! If you’re interested look more into it as I can’t cover all of it and I’m trying to go off what’s potentially ‘most relevant’ to people’s fic writing.
Two important bits of context for 1960s schools: Student rights and desegregation.
‘Old school’-
Real quick terminology was a little different to refer to schools like elementary school would sometimes be “primary school” (I know this is still the case in Europe/Canada but large parts of the us no longer say this) or “grammar school” as a sort of preschool- early elementary range.
Junior high was also more common for a middle school but still used today in some parts. The age layout used to be different, sometimes depending on where you were kids from 12-18 would all be in the same huge school.
There were no smart boards or whiteboards. Chalkboards, pull down maps — students turned in everything either in cursive or written on a type writer! (There were entire typing classes for this skill as well. Then again when computers were slowly implemented in the 1980s) there were projectors however — either overhead, slide projector(which goes through a bunch of small photos aka slides) or a movie projector for educational film!
Copies were different too, worksheets would likely be from a Ditto (which had a particular smelling ink students loved).
What students carried-
No backpacks! It’s not until the mid 80s this really becomes a thing for schools. Lockers were used and you’d just carry home what books or materials needed, sometimes there were books traps which were mainly used by younger students (it’s a belt that goes around your books basically) girls would sometimes bring larger purses so they’d be able to carry the books too.
This is why there’s the trope of “oh Billy carry my books for me?💕” or students walking home with everything in their arms like in Halloween (1978)
Textbooks were pricey and the students responsibility so there’d be textbook covers! Sometimes nice ones were made when there’s something you like on it but if you’re poor or want your own custom ability you’d use a paper grocery bag.
There are those who buy lunch but if you bring it you either have a tin lunchbox or a brown paper bag (sack lunch) no cloth ones.
As mentioned above there was a lot more “life skills” based classes than there are today, some may exist in more rural communities but a lot of these got cut. Typing classes, drivers ed (in school!!), shop (Auto, wood and Metal), home economics -> from cooking, laundry, balancing checkbook etc.
Being called on/corrected-
Students weren’t people until the late 60s. I’m not kidding there were Supreme Court cases as there was a tendency of treatment and rights being actually acquainted to prisoners.
Dress codes weren’t as strict as the 40s and 50s but you’re still not wearing a tube top and daisy dukes to school. However the 60s are the age of teen rebellion…
Corporal punishment! You were allowed to be hit by a teacher if deemed necessary. Sending to the office/punishment in general was also more common : detention, suspension, expulsion etc (I mean this as actual and not just irrational as lately there’s been almost too lax)
Truancy officers! Making sure kids are in school, not skipping, missing etc.
There also seems to be more academic demand and rigor on the outside looking in on the time period, however I’ll say it with a grain of salt as some of it may be a ‘back in my day’ style…
Locality-
In a small or rural town school events would mean far more, especially back then. Clubs, fundraisers, carnivals and sports all were a huge part of students and the communities social life! Going to watch the football game was a big thing. Same goes for school dances like prom and homecoming.
This also makes things like superlatives, awards, sports wins etc more impactful.

I am not exactly sure if your request are open or this account is abandoned because I don't wanna bother.. But how do 2p Prussia, 2p America, 2p Italy, 2p Canada to their darling s/o walking around, talking by themselves and running around when their alone, especially listening to music and do that.. People usually called it maladaptive daydreaming?.. And I again I'm sorry if I bother you
+ This comment: Oh if you don't know maladaptive daydreaming.. You can search it on google, maladaptive daydreaming is usually caused by mental health issue
Ah! I’ve heard of this, and I relate to a lot of the symptoms. Honestly, the process helps me with a lot of my writing, but I’ve never really had it overtake my life.
And you’re no bother hun! Also, as long as the ask box is open you can submit until your heart’s content (this goes for everyone!). Adult life sometimes makes it hard to be consistent with my writing. Even though life’s made it tough, it just takes longer than I thought. Which I am sure we all understand.
Also, if you ever want, you are welcome to ask me questions, or just check in on my status. I don’t consider them the same as a request/ask. Honestly, I’ve always wondered if I should share the menu of questions. Like the ones of lists where people request a number/shape/phrase from a menu of questions and the author answers them.
Note: (F/Br) = Favorite Brand
Anyways on to the event~
(Y/N)’s head rocked to unheard music as she moved through the house. A large basket, full of dirty clothes, was in hand as she muttered to herself. Like a plane on autopilot, her legs took the barefoot woman down the hidden, wooden stairs toward the basement.
With her mind lost to the clouds, she was unaware of the encroaching shadows. One that slunk along her walls and blended in with her home’s hidden corners.
The man’s ears were perked, eager to pick up on her muttering as he remained out of sight; but as he tried to make out each, exact word, all he could do was scrunch his face in confusion. She was uttering pure nonsense. Curiosity continued to knock at his brain, as he realized the muttering and occasional grunt sounded like someone in a fight. Part of him wondered if she hated laundry. Or was she somehow hurt, that a mere load of laundry caused her body to ache so, maybe she was complaining about that event? Perhaps, during the hours he had left her, someone said something to piss her off and to alleviate the feeling of failure she was repeating the moment but with her winning?
Brushing off the momentary flare of anger at the possibility of something going wrong, he decided to stalk closer. His presence unnoticed as he fell in line with the darkness to follow the woman further into the unfinished basement.
Remaining between the darken beams of an empty corner room, the man watched as she bounced past the laundry room. He choked down the chuckle that threatened to bubble out as she seemed to forget what chore she was doing. He watched as her quirked lips and blink of confusion reminded him of a puppy denied a bone via a simple magic trick. But after a moment she stepped backwards and moved inside to complete the chore.
For hours, he watched from the dark places of (Y/N)’s home as she continued in what he could only call her own wonderland. Little sounds and words came from her as she auto piloted her way through the evening. Each of her movements could only be described as light and spacey.
Soon enough, (Y/N) had finished her day. Her head hitting the cold pillow and slowly giving up consciousness in return for a more vivid fantasy as she cuddled her blanket close.
As her breath settled into sleep’s pattern. The man left the shadows and stood over (Y/N). He looked down, his eyes softened by worry as he brushed away her hair.
The whole day. She had not noticed him once. Not even reacting to the feeling of his eyes tracing her form.
Oh, what to do with her.
HIS.
SWEET.
LITTLE.
OBLIVIOUS.
ALICE.
Prussia: Once again, (Y/N) moved on autopilot. Her mind lost to wonderland as she cleaned the front room windows. A dance to step as her inner adventure rose closer to its climax. Ignorant of the eyes on the outside.
“Another day, another fantasy”. thought Wilhelm as he watched her from his dark Audi. His thumb tapped along the steering wheel as he bobbed to her beat. Waiting for her.
Waiting for the next point of her set schedule. The subconscious pattern he had identified weeks earlier. The key to bringing Maus home was a simple afternoon walk.
His cornflower orbs flitted to the car clock. The neon numbers changed to fourteen hundred. At its brief flicker, to signify the change of the hour, Wilhelm looked back to the house.
(Y/N) opened the white door, and Wilhelm felt his heart stop. Her beauty alone froze the breath within his lungs.
The summer sun reflected off her (H/C) locks and the (F/C) headphones helped create a beautiful halo. Her eyes were refreshing pools of (E/C) that offered relief from the ruthless heat. The baggy, mesh, basketball shorts and simple graphic tee made her seem like an angel failing to blend in with mortals.
To view her so openly felt like a sin. But Wilhelm couldn’t ignore the serpent’s call. Not when the house had been prepared, and the wedding planning was in the final stages.
No, he thought as she walked past his car. Not when her mental wonderings made it so easy for him to snatch her away.
He opened the car door. Following the distracted woman down the suburban running trail.
Not when he could make his own daydreams a reality.
America: Over the next few weeks, (Y/N)’s mind continued its wandering. Those mental walks felt like a summer, sun-dappled path as she made her way through the elaborate stories. After all, they prevented a dull moment and allowed her to complete her days and tasks while tranced.
It was perfect.
If only you didn’t ask Allen.
On each visit to her home, he was ignored. His presence was treated as nothing more than a fly on the wall. Allen would agree that it was nice, it allowed him to get closer. To be bolder in his actions.
Even with all he learned and all he was able to do, it wasn’t enough. The information lacked intimacy. The kind where Allen could slide into (Y/N)’s life. To build a bond that would take them from friends to a couple, and finally end with marriage.
Just him and her. Forever.
If she wasn’t so damn lost within her own mind.
The process of focusing her hazy eyes on him would take too long if he went the organic route. No, he wanted her attention.
And.
He.
Wanted.
It.
Now.
Italy: The grocery store bustled with life as (Y/N) pushed her cart forward. Her lazy stride as her upper body leaned on the cart handle. Her eyes felt that the world was so distant as she glanced along the shelves like her dedication to the dream prevented the world from coming into focus.
A sudden crash of zincified steel and a punch to the gut caused (Y/N) to choke as her lungs struggled to regain their air and her stomach to keep its contents down.
A groan mumbled its way through (Y/N)’s clenched lips as her mind caught up with reality. She had been wondering about the snack aisle for chips, but at its lack of (F/Br) and at her mental moment of failure, she decided to check the next aisle in case they were moved. Initially, there was no one at the aisle’s end that (Y/N) had seen, so she exited. But, like a teen driver with a brand-new cellphone, her glance up was not long enough.
“Non ci posso credere!”, came from the owner of the hand that was now rubbing her back. His gentle touch helped calm her body’s panic as she looked back at him.
(E/C) widened as a heavy blush warmed her cheeks.
He was handsome.
His copper hair that had the smallest hints of crimson in the highlights the shone like bloody pennies in the florescent lights. His eyes were the deepest pools of maroon that pulled at her brain like a siren’s song. A sharp nose that complimented the soft smile that crinkled the corners of his beautiful eyes.
Yet, her brain couldn’t ignore that something was off. Was it in the way he looked at her? Or the gentle, but tight grip on her arm? Either way, it made (Y/N) feel like she was viewing a shadow from above the water’s surface. That underneath lay a predator in wait, urging her to jump in. To embr-.
“Tesoro?” The man interrupted. “Are you alright?”
She ummed with a nodded as she scurried to collect her cart and stand straight. A stuttered “Yes” as she began to turn her cart away and after a silent moment of staring, an “I’m sorry” as her steps led her away from the attractive Italian.
(Y/N) should have looked back.
Because Luciano stepped forward. His voice was soft as he called for her to look back. It had enough power that only (Y/N) should have turned to look at him. To bless him with another conversation. To give him his anchor point into her life.
She should not have let her dreams dull her senses as her wondering took her around the aisle’s corner.
Because he frowned. A frown so deep that the creases pulled his lips downward. She was lost again. Not even thirty seconds after bruising her gut. Not allowing him the chance to smooth over the pain with the promise of pleasure.
Being ignored burned him. A blaze that flittered like black flames from his heart to his head with horrible ideas.
Ideas that concluded this ‘dream-walking’ could be trained out. Or at least, change them. Maybe, dreams that were filled with only him, could be a better anchor. Even if they would quickly become nightmares.
Canada: Large shelves were covered in books. Each varied in thickness, texture, color, and quality, but with one thing in common. They were all blank.
Matt’s scuffed hand reached for a leather bound, brown journal. He turned it over in his hands before flipping through the pages. It seemed sturdy. A book that could handle a lot of pages turning, folding, and writing, but he grimaced. Its paper was rated for matte, which was the standard.
“No.” He muttered. “It’s too light.”
His boot-clad feet carried him further into the book aisle of the art store. As he approached the end, his lilac eyes were drawn downward to a small, black book on the bottom shelf.
Gently, Matt picked it up. His hands carded through the paper and looked over its binding. This one was a lot stronger than the last. Pausing at the book’s middle he noted that it’s pages were tightly bound with glue and white tread that released the smell of glue as he closed it with a small slam.
‘One final thing’, he thought as he flipped the book over for it’s specs.
Hot Pressed Watercolor
‘Finally,’ He sighed as he tucked the book under his arm. ‘Now, all I have to do is finish her studio.’
With a nearly, unnoticeable pop in his step, Matt left the store.
After all, with one more thing checked off his list.
That meant he was one item closer to bringing (Y/N) home.
One more thing closer to a happy home with children.
And after all, (Y/N)’s dreams could mean happier children. All he has to do is encourage her to record.

Part 2: Locations - Holland Valley
Gardenview Packing Facility
The last facility added to the Hadlers' apple empire. They shipped their apples throughout Hope County and beyond. When the cult went red state, the Hadlers stopped their legal threats and resorted to violence.
Silver Lake Trailer Park
A community of people just trying to do their best.
Gardenview Orchards
A part of Doug and Debbie Hadler’s apple empire. After their ciderworks facility, they expanded to a second, larger orchard: Gardenview Orchards. Then they opened the Gardenview Packing Facility.
Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm
Fiery matriarch Rae-Rae Bouthillier cares about two things: Prize-winning pumpkins and her dog Boomer.
Gardenview Ciderworks
The first major facility owned by Doug and Debbie Hadler. Ten years ago, they had a dream: an empire made of apples. They nearly achieved it too, until the cult forcibly took over everything they had worked for.
Bridge of Tears
It was called the Mišihrew Bridge when the railroad was still active. It’s now a rickety old train bridge and John Seed's ideal location to send a warning message to all sinners.
Frobisher's Cave
In 1970, a cougar, named "Frobisher" by the locals, killed the star pitcher of a rival baseball team. The Hope County Silver Foxes won that year and changed their name to the Cougars in Frobisher's honor.
Howard Cabin
Home of Niesha Howard, an extreme rock climber from Canada who moved to Montana to be a prepper.
Copperhead Rail Yard
Copperhead Rail was created in the late 1800s by Emmet Reaves. It was shut down in the early 70s and a lot got left behind. It became a place for kids to get drunk or bums to find shelter, then the cult bought it.
Lincoln Lookout Tower
It’s the last working fire tower in the county. A man who worked here promised to help the Strickland family fight off the cult if ever their farm was under attack.
Sergey’s Place
A hobo historian calls this place home. Nobody's seen him in a while though.
Boyd Residence
Will Boyd lives here, or at least he did. No one in the valley talks about him. And for good reason.
Strickland Farm
Property owned by the Strickland family of farmers. No friends to Eden’s Gate.
U.S. Auto
A scrap yard containing trashed cars, broken farm equipment, and even a few busted planes. Eden's Gate uses the garage to build and maintain their convoys.
Doverspike Compound
Les Doverspike was a militia nut and he built himself a bunker. Nobody in the prepper community liked him. Despite that, he was anti-cult and pro-Resistance.
Harris Residence
Mike and Deb Harris were preppers with a cunning plan to keep themselves fed after the end of the world.
Reservoir Construction Yard
Deep North Water wanted to build a new reservoir for the Holland Valley. The company ran out of funding and was chased away by Eden’s Gate.
Dodd’s Dumps
Colin Dodd used to run garbage disposal for the whole Holland Valley, and his business lot shows it. The cult intimidated him into leaving but has yet to sort through all he left behind.
Davenport Farm
The remains of a run-down farm. Local farmers let their cows graze here. Can't let good land go to waste.
Hilgard Electric Power Station
The Holland Valley's power supply is reliant on this transformer station which is controlled by Eden's Gate.
Golden Valley Gas
Once the kind of gas station that gave out free bubble gum to kids, Golden Valley is now a strategic point of gasoline and auto maintenance for the Project at Eden's Gate.
Green-Busch Fertilizer Co.
Facing a decline in business, the Green-Busch family said “yes” and sold the place to John Seed on the condition that locals could keep their jobs and work alongside Eden's Gate.
St. Isidore School
Once a religious boarding school, it was forced to close its doors by Eden's Gate.
Dodd Residence
Home of Colin Dodd, hoarder and DIY enthusiast. He never throws anything out. His granddaughter Nadine's been known to lurk here.
Roberts Cabin
Home of Joe Roberts, a hunter. He's gone missing. He loved hunting deer above all else.
Hope County Clinic
Dr. Kim Patterson provides medical services to Hope County's farmers and low-income residents, many of whom would never receive care in such a remote area.
Holland Valley Station
In the days that it was up and running, Copperhead Rail used to stop here. Eden’s Gate uses this station to catch people who try to escape the region.
Grain Elevator
As the farmlands started to collapse, the grain elevator was the first casualty. Too expensive to maintain.
Henbane River Rail Bridge
Copperhead Rail was created in the 1880s during a mining boom, and shut down in the early 70s after the industry collapsed.
Flatiron Stockyards
Bobby Budell established the stock yards in 1946, and has proudly provided farm and ranch auction services since. The economic and community base employed over 25 people at its height.
Fillmore Residence
Home of Doug Fillmore. Not much is known about him.
Dupree Residence
Home of Tommy Dupree, an idiot who used to work at Green-Busch Fertilizer Co. He got fired by Eden's Gate because he was as dumb as the crap he bagged.
Catamount Mines
Fall’s End owes its existence to the gold Orville Fall discovered here in 1865. The mine brought a generation of prosperity to the region until a suspicious accident entombed 100 men within it, forcing its closure in 1912.
Sunrise Farm
Sunrise Farm was going under, so owners Mike and Chandra Dunagan reluctantly sold it to Eden's Gate. Big mistake.
Deep North Irrigation Reservoir
Originally designed to irrigate farms, the reservoir became a liability when the cult began putting Bliss in the water supply. The Resistance sealed it up to buy themselves time.
Red’s Farm Supply
The Redler family has run this place for 4 generations, and earned a reputation for honest business. Wendell did his best to keep it out of cult hands.
Purpletop Telecom Tower
In the 1950s, Purpletop Telecom built this tower, blessing people with the wonders of AM radio. As time and technology marched forward, they were also given the American splendor of a local TV station.
Woodson Pig Farm
This place has been in the Woodson family since 1943. Current owners Andrew and Frances Woodson used their wealth to try to stand up to John Seed and fight him in court. They lost, and joined the Resistance.
Sawyer Residence
Don Sawyer came from out of town to join the Project at Eden's Gate. He restores canoes, but isn't very good at it. Visitors have sworn they've heard him swearing in Russian over those boats.
Hyde Barn
Kenny Hyde's a poor man in Holland Valley, but that doesn't stop him from loving deep fried balls. He's the proud keeper of Fall’s End Testy Festy decorations, stashing them at his barn until they're needed.
Kupka Ranch
Zip Kupka's the only one who really knows what's going on in the Holland Valley.
John’s Gate
A missile silo long decommissioned and abandoned. The locals used to call it "Area 68." Eden's Gate bought it in secret and turned it into a bunker that is in John Seed's safekeeping until the Collapse.
Security Gate
Formerly the entrance to the missile silo, it's now the gateway to John Seed's bunker. Everything taken in the Reaping passes through this checkpoint.
Steele Farm
The Steele family managed to get their kids out of Hope County, but stayed behind to try and defend their home from Eden's Gate.
Lamb of God Church
A Lutheran church. Its elderly priest was overshadowed by Pastor Jerome’s charismatic sermons. John once asked the priest to say “yes.” Not a chance. Then, the priest was gone. He had taken a “long vacation.”
Lamb of God Sacristy
The Project at Eden's Gate has turned the Lamb of God Church's sacristy into a holding place for everything they need to baptize people at the water's edge.
Armstrong Residence
The Project at Eden's Gate targeted the Armstrong family early, burning their home to the ground when Grace Armstrong refused to devote her sharpshooting skills to the Father's cause.
Bradbury Tractor Shed
A shed for tractors.
Hope County Jail Bus
Prisoners hijacked this bus but were run off the road. The wreck was left to rot in the woods. When Eden's Gate brought prohibition to Hope County, some enterprising moonshiners set up shop behind the cult’s back.
Parker Laboratories
Home and workshop of Dr. Laurence Parker, and the origin of many mysterious noise complaints.
Seed Ranch
The power of yes gave John Seed this dream ranch overlooking the Holland Valley. it has commanding views, a private air strip, and secluded soundproofed rooms for his most invigorating religious pursuits.
Bradbury Farm
The home of the Bradbury family, hay farmers for generations. The strange pattern of dead hay in the field does not impact the quality of the final product. That's the Bradbury guarantee.
Bradbury Hay Field
Bradbury Farm's hay is baled and stored here before being sold to clients looking to feed their livestock with quality hay.
Laurel Residence
Laurel family honey was a local market favorite until their bee colony collapsed and jeopardized the business. It also spooked the Laurels who sunk money into a bunker and became preppers overnight.
Eden’s Gate Greenhouse
Bliss plants are found throughout the Henbane River, but they're also found here. John Seed takes the flowers he receives by boat from the east and plants them in his greenhouse.
Seed Boat Launch
Once a favorite spot for summer frolickers, this boat launch is used by John Seed for receiving shipments of Bliss and other supplies from elsewhere in Hope County.
Rye & Sons Aviation
This plot of land was first settled in 1920 by Willard Rye. He started a crop dusting business. His sons inherited both and it now belongs to the current generation of Ryes: Nick & Kim.
Kellett Cattle Co.
The Kellett family supplied beef for 3 generations. These proud Republicans thought they recognized the American spirit in Eden’s Gate, but when John Seed asked them to serve the Project, they said “no.”
Fall’s End
After prospector Orville Fall struck gold, his small mining camp quickly grew. Decades later, his rival, rail baron Emmett Reaves, shot him dead in the streets, giving the town its official name.
Old Silo
Welcome to the middle of it.
Kay-Nine Kennels
The owner, Kay Wheeler, loved her dogs more than life itself. She bred and trained hunting and guard dogs. When Eden’s Gate showed up, the local demand for guard dogs tripled. John Seed noticed and took action.
Sunrise Threshing
A silo and shed complex attached to Sunrise Farm. Rumor has it that Mike Dunagan's stashed a lot of cool shit around here somewhere.
Redler Residence
Home of Wendell Redler, local businessman and Vietnam veteran.
Adams Ranch
Jules Adams lost her husband in an "accident" after saying no to John Seed. Her family's struggled to keep the cattle ranch out of cult hands ever since.
Miller Residence
Despite financial hardship, the Miller family refused the cult’s invitations, prepping for doomsday all on their own. When the reaping came, Jerry Miller was out working.
Wellington Residence
The Wellington family mine is an urban legend, supposedly stuffed with gold, explosives, or both depending who you ask. Generations of Wellingtons (possibly inbred) have tried and failed to strike it rich here.

Storia Di Musica #336 - Neil Young, On the Beach, 1974
I need a crowd of people, but I can't face them day to day».

If you drive a Ford SUV, it could be part of a major recall in Canada. The auto manufacturer stated in an email that it has recalled 2,950 vehicles due to gas leaks that may cause fires. Affected Ford SUVs include the 2022 to 2023 Bronco Sport and the 2022 Escape with a 1.5L engine. "Ford's Internal Combustion Engines Propulsion Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) team had identified leaks during component-level injector flow testing on fuel injectors recovered from two Bronco Sport vehicles that had experienced underhood fires," reads the company's recall notice.

hi! a friend of mine has recently told me a bunch of stuff about how i could include some disabled characters in my short stories (i write hurt/comfort for the record) and what they'd like to see more of.
something on the list was "[disabled people] have access to certain medical supplies that normally wouldn't be accessible." google isn't being super helpful as it's a pretty vague statement. can you give me some examples of this? would it be syringes and needles? or certain medication that's easy to use with malicious intent? (also for the record, they were specifically asking if i could write more disabled characters doing the hurting instead of being victims of it, since that tends to be an underrepresented category). i dont even know where to start researching since there's so many types of disabilities, so any help would be hugely appreciated!
Hello,
Prescriptions open up a world of medical supplies that the public would have to jump through major hoops to access or wouldn't be able to access at all. For example, epinephrine auto-injectors, commonly known as Epi-Pens. In America, one can only get those with a prescription or if you're the caretaker for someone who has life-threatening allergies, there is no other way to get them unless you buy them from a shady sight from the United Kingdom or Canada. Even Adrenaclic, created by CVS Pharmacy, which also treats anaphylaxis, is only available when prescribed by a medical professional. Disabled people with chronic pain can access medical marijuana, or even medical-grade opioids. One can't legally buy Schedule 2 Drugs (things like Adderall) without a prescription. It'll depend on what condition they have, but prescription medications are a huge part of that "access to supplies the rest of the population can't have."
The second thing is medical-grade sterile equipment. Sure, you can buy IV bags off of Amazon for fifteen dollars for fifty, but those probably aren't medical-grade and you don't have a guarantee that they're good or safe quality. IV fluids are hard to find at a reasonable price. Syringes? Those absolutely need to be sterile, it's not safe to buy those from anywhere that isn't a pharmacy. All of this stuff is best purchased as medical-grade, meaning it could be used by a doctor or a hospital, and they aren't buying this stuff from Amazon. Pharmacies get this stuff from similar, maybe even the same, sources as hospitals are getting them, and a pharmacy will probably only sell you most of this stuff to someone who's prescribed it and who has a diagnosed medical condition that requires it. Even then, disabled people usually need to jump through hoops to get our medical equipment.
And the third is something that might surprise you- mobility and assistance devices. Yes, you can get a cane from Walmart or a hospital-type wheelchair from Target, but those aren't personalized. They'll do the job but an abled person probably can't get a custom-built wheelchair as easily as someone with cerebral palsy can. This isn't saying it's easy for disabled people to get these things, it's just easier than it is for the general population. Plus, things such as a class three powerchair are thousands of dollars. If you're prescribed one, insurance might cover part of it, or you might have the option to receive these things for free from charities, or at a discounted rate, especially if you're low-income. You can buy them if you're abled, sure, but you'll have access to a better way to go about it if you're actually disabled.
Again, nothing on this list is guaranteed to be a breeze for a disabled person, but there are routes we can take that make getting them easier than it would be for an abled person who doesn't need them.

"Interest In Strike Wanes," Border Cities Star. April 16, 1934. Page 3. --- Tension Much Easier In East Windsor Wage Dispute ---- New Talk Refused ---- Company Contends Higher Wage Scale Suitable To Majority ---- Though a majority of the Motor Lamp employes are evidently in favor of going back to work and the shop management is willing to take them back at higher wages, the Canadian Motor Lamp "strike" continued today with little prospect of an early settlement.
SAY SCALE ACCEPTABLE Mop authorities felt sure that the wage schedule offered last work is acceptable to the majority of their empires. They print out that when the offer was made to the employes Individually, the strike organizers announced that letters sent to the individual letters would all be returned to the management. Less than half of the letters were returned, however.
The strikers took a stand opposing any bargaining between the management and the employes as individuals. Today according to word emanating from the plant office, a delegate from the strike committee proposed that a conference between the management and his committee be entered into The proposal was turned down.
After a quiet week-end, the picket line was reinforced today. Plant officials declared, however, that only one or two of their employes could be spotted in the picket lines. The rest of the picketers were recruited among the unemployed, they said.
It is beginning to be become evident to some of the strikers that the declaration of I. E. J. Warner, president of the plant, made a work may not have been a huff. Mr. Warner declared that he was ready to shut the plant down until the labor trouble had blown over.
There was no sign at the plant over the week-end that the management was in the least concerned about the strike. As a matter of fact, none of the plant offered the plant and the police posted there had a quiet time.
HUDDLED AROUND FIRE East Windsor police pointed out that while the picketers as the plant weren't very numerous, reserves were stationed in the Ukrainian Hall, East Windsor's Red headquarters, just around the corner. The plan of the picketers, it was said, was to send a runner to the hall in the event of anything happening on the picket Iine. But there seemed as likelihood of any thing happening and the picketers passed away the long hours huddled around a small bonfire on property adjoining the Motor Lamp plant.
As the strike went into its second week, another factor-how to live while the dispute is on-became an increasingly important question for the consideration of the striking employees.
J. S. White, East Windsor welfare director, reported that the Motor Lamp employes were calling on him the help. He was not giving relief pending a meeting of the East Windsor Water Board scheduled for today, he said. Giving welfare to the strikers would be form of subsidy, he thought, and he didn't know whether the government would be willing to take a step of that kind.
That interest in the new Auto Workers Union is not as keen as the radical sponsors would like the public to believe was evident last night. Union organizers claim to have 4.000 or more auto plant workers in the Border Cities organized. They have been speaking enthusiastically about the string of strikes they are planning
MEETING CALLED OF But a meeting of all Border automobile workers was called last evening for the old Empire Theatre on Pitt street and only a handful of persons, a good portion of them not auto workers but interested in stirring up something, showed up. The result was that the meeting was called off.
The strikers had hoped that tying up of the Motor Lamp plant would result in halting operations in other Windsor automobile plants. The other auto plants, however, are getting from Detroit the articles formerly supplied from the East Windsor plant. Besides manufacturing motor lamps, the East Windsor plant does considerable chrome-plating and nickel-plating Radiators, and cape and other plated parts of automobiles, are finished at the plant. The Motor Lamp's business not confined to the automobile industry. When the employees walked out they were working on a big order of toy shovels, hoes and rakes for a little store firm.
