I've decided to try to do another monthly challenge! This time it’s “photo studies but I’m not allowed to use the eyedropper tool to pick the colours” which I came up with because backgrounds and colours are still intimidating and I would like them not to be so much. X)

Figured I would go with landscapes for the first batch, and probably building or interiors for the second, and then maybe portraits? We’ll see!

#mydrawings #studies #landscape #background #it's the first time i'm not picking colours off the ref and honestly i think it's helping?? since i have to Actually Look at the colours #the urge to just eyedrop the reference does come back every once in a while but i managed X)#doing landscape studies is somewhat relaxing because i can focus on colours and it's okay if the shapes aren't completely accurate #but i expect it'll be harder if i go with portraits since it's much more obvious when face proportions are off #but that's what makes it a challenge isn't it!#or i could go with still life or food... hm...#well we'll get there when we get there #August drawing challenge

Aah, that was so nice. I love this actually. Just pay me to paint various amphibians, crustaceans, insects and other little beasties and I will be happy I think.

And thus concludes my “photo studies without picking colours” August challenge! I redrew the picture I did at the beginning of the month and while the difference might not be the greatest (?) I do feel more confident so, yay! Good job me you did it

I really want to go back to drawing less realistic stuff tho XD

#mydrawings #studies #August drawing challenge #insect #bugs #frog #crab #butterfly #snail #my cat #ask to tag? i know not everyone likes to see realistic bugs or frogs but honestly this was #such a breath of fresh air after the portraits #they all took one hour except my cat who took two because she deserves it #part of me wants to keep working on that cat picture a bit... it looks fine at that scale but if you zoom in some parts are a little rough #and that would be nice to have as a polished piece... we'll see we'll see #decided early on to redraw the first one at the end of the month to see how that had changed #and it has gotten easier!#which is good
