The Nashville Police Department’s report on the investigation into the Covenant School shooting has downplayed the far-left shooter’s radical views on religion and gender.

The report concluded that while the shooter, Audrey Hale, had radical beliefs, her primary motive was a desire for notoriety.

Released over two years after the March 2023 attack, the report claims that the shooter’s choice of the Christian school as a target was driven by her pursuit of fame.

Police argue that the school was not targeted because of her animosity towards Christianity or privileged groups.

The tragic event resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including three children and three adults.

The 28-year-old attacker was found to have harbored radical thoughts concerning gender identity and white privilege.

However, police determined these beliefs did not influence Hale’s choice of venue.

Instead, investigators insist that she aimed to garner attention by selecting a school likely to shock the public due to the young age of the victims.

The victims of this shooting included children Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney and adults Michael Hill, Katherine Koonce, and Cynthia Peak.

Today, in Nashville, Tennessee, a 28 year old trans man broke into and opened fire on a Christian Elementary School.

According to CNN:

“Here's what we know so far:

About Covenant School: The school is a private Christian school founded in 2001 as a ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church. It has an average enrollment of about 200 people in recent years, according to its website, and it teaches preschool through 6th grade.

What happened: Don Aaron, spokesperson for the Metro Nashville Police Department, said the first calls of an active shooting came in at around 10:15 a.m. local time. When officers arrived, they went through the first level of the building, he said. They then heard gunshots coming from the second level of the building, according to Aaron. He said that's where police confronted and killed the shooter at 10:27 a.m. local time.

The shooter: The shooter has been identified as 28-year-old Nashville resident Audrey Hale. The shooter was armed with a handgun and two AR-style weapons — one a rifle and an AR-style pistol, Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake said. Two of those may have been obtained legally and locally in Nashville, Drake said. According to initial findings, the shooter was once a student at the school, he added, though he said police are unsure what years.

Prior planning: The shooter had drawn detailed maps of Covenant School, Drake said, including the entry points to the building and detailing "how this was all gonna take place." Drake said police believe the shooter shot through one of the doors to get into the school. Drake said the school was the only location targeted by the shooter. Police have also located a manifesto that they are reviewing.

The victims: The three students who were shot and killed at Covenant School were all 9 years old, police said. They have been identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, according to police. Three adults were also killed in the shooting. They have been identified as 61-year-old Cynthia Peak, 60-year-old Katherine Koonce and 61-year-old Mike Hill, police said.

What's next: Police will spend the next two days processing the scene and working to gather more details about what happened during a shooting at a Nashville elementary school, Aaron said, adding police also intend to release video soon. Officials said they knew where the shooter lived and they have interviewed the shooter's father.

Call for gun safety legislation: President Joe Biden called the shooting at a Nashville school "heartbreaking, a family's worst nightmare," while advocating for gun reform. Biden said Congress needs to pass an assault weapons ban because we "need to do more to protect our schools." However, a bipartisan solution is extremely unlikely this Congress with a slim Democratic majority in the Senate and a GOP-led House. Nashville Mayor John Cooper said too many children are dying from guns and that the community needs to come together to support each other.

Mass shootings in America: The Nashville shooting is the 129th mass shooting in the US so far in 2023, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive. The Gun Violence Archive, like CNN, defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are shot, excluding the shooter.”

Controversial group behind 'Trans Day of Vengeance' raised money for firearms training - as other trans protestors pose with guns ahead of march in DC on Saturday

The protest was rebranded before the Nashville tragedy from 'visibility' to 'vengeance' by the Trans Radical Activist Network

But some social media users appear to have taken the protest to another level and have posed with powerful firearms posted along with the hashtag 

Twitter has since removed more than 5,000 posts that have used the flyer for the event on April 1 

Despite three nine-year-olds being gunned down by a transgender shooter at a private Christian school in Nashville, activists are still rallying the troops to protest for a 'Trans Day of Vengeance' - months after raising money for firearms training. 

Transgender shooter Audrey Hale opened fire on the Covenant School in Nashville at 10.30am on Monday, killing Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney and Evelyn Dieckhaus during her rampage at the school.

But despite rising political tensions across the country, which saw a press secretary for Arizona Democrat Governor post a Tweet about shooting transphobes, the Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN) is pushing forward with their protest in DC.

The Virginia chapter of the group held a 'dance party fundraiser' in Richmond 'benefiting firearm/self-defense training for trans-Virginians' on March 7, before the mass shooting had taken place. 

In statements, the group has taken pains to distance themselves from Hale, and her actions, and changed the name of the protest before the brutal slayings.  

The protest on Saturday was initially meant to be called a 'day of visibility' but rebranded before the shooting to vengeance because it means 'fighting back with vehemence' – though the group was quick to say they do not 'encourage or promote violence' when contacted by DailyMail.com. 

But one person posing as an activist appears to have taken the movement to the next level, posting a picture of a heavily armed person with an assault rifle and threatening to 'kill christcucks' - as Twitter removed thousands of posts with flyers for the event. 

Twitter has been removing the posts that could be deemed threatening or involve guns associated with the 'TransDayofVengeance' hashtag - but it is unclear exactly how many were others posing with weapons as they have since been deleted.

Ella Irwin, Twitter's head of trust and safety, wrote that the company removed more than 5,000 tweets that included a poster for the event.

She said: 'We do not support tweets that incite violence irrespective of who posts them. 

'Vengeance' does not imply peaceful protest. Organizing or support for peaceful protests is ok.'

Two other trans activists have since posted footage and photos of themselves with rifles, which appear to be in direct response to the Nashville shooting. 

One says that she will use the weapon for 'protection' against 'transphobes' who  target them. 

Kayla Denker, who describes themselves as a ‘communist, archaeologist and writer, posted the video of herself with her gun after the incident in Nashville – despite saying ‘advocating for trans people to arm ourselves is not any kind of a solution to the genocide we are facing’.

She is also appealing for help with the medical bills for her transition on her social media, which has now been locked down.

Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Green also saw her account removed after she launched several anti-trans attacks on Twitter.

Greene claimed that 'Antifa' was organizing the alleged event, and reposted a poster for the protest while complaining Twitter kept removing her posts before she was ultimately suspended.

Activists are being encouraged to 'bring a buddy' and wear a mask at the event outside of the Supreme Court in DC on April 1, and is billed as avenging a 'trans genocide.'

Organizers did not respond when asked questions about the safety of protests amid the increasing pressure between the two sides of the political spectrum.

Websites such as Etsy are still being used to sell pro-gun and trans merchandise, with stickers that say 'defend equality' with assault rifles on as well as t-shirts and other items emblazoned with 'Trans rights… or else' which also have the high-powered guns in pink, white and blue – the Trans colors – on them.

TRAN is run by three co-founders, one of whom is a former staffer for the Virginia Democrats and stepped down to work with the group.

Bo Belotti, the national recruitment director, is a 'trans masculine non-binary person' and helped the Virginia chapter of the group to raise money to go on guns and self-defence.

On March 7, the Virginia chapter held a 'dance party fundraiser' in Richmond 'benefiting firearm/self-defense training for trans-Virginians. Come boogie with us and defend trans life!'

Belotti worked as a fellow for Del. Elizabeth Guzman, and Del. Joshua Cole as a legislative aide and helped draft HB 145, which required the state to create model transgender policies for public schools.

His bio on the website adds: 'While working in their state's legislators they helped craft trans-affirming statewide policies.' 

Another co-founder is non-binary Tsukuru, who had been posting updates on the protest before locking down their account following the backlash in the aftermath of the mass shooting.

Their bio states that they were a 'graduate of a high school in Hiroshima where 350 young lives were brutally taken on August 6, 1945, Tsukuru is an anti-nuclear/anti-war/human rights activist.'

It adds: 'After his brief marriage to his best friend and the birth of his child, he first came out as lesbian at age 29 and as a transgender man at age 50.'

The final founder is Noah Buchanan who helped to set up Tran initially, writing on the website: 'Noah Buchanan; I am a transgender male and have been out since 2018. I have 10+ years of working in the mental health field.

'What motivated me to start TRAN was the fact I was bullied to the point where I attempted to end my own life. The person that bullied me was a fellow member of the LGBTIA+.'

In a statement to DailyMail.com Buchanan said: 'What I will say is that this protest was not about encouraging or promoting violence.

This protest is about uniting and letting people know that we are human beings, we exist, and love conquers hate.'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The writings of the person who killed three 9-year-olds and three adults at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville last year cannot be released to the public, a judge ruled Thursday.

Chancery Court Judge I’Ashea Myles found that The Covenant School children and parents hold the copyright to any writings or other works created by shooter Audrey Hale, a former student who was killed by police. As part of the effort to keep the records closed, Hale’s parents transferred ownership of Hale’s property to the victims’ families, who then argued in court that they should be allowed to determine who has access to them.

Myles agreed, ruling that “the original writings, journals, art, photos and videos created by Hale” are subject to an exception to the Tennessee Public Records Act created by the federal Copyright Act.

The ruling comes more than a year after several groups filed public records requests for documents seized by Metro Nashville Police during their investigation into the March 2023 shooting. Those killed were Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all 9 years old, and adults Cynthia Peak, 61; Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61.

Part of the interest in the records stems from the fact that Hale, who police say was “assigned female at birth,” may have identified as a transgender man, and some pundits have floated the theory that the journals will reveal a planned hate crime against Christians.

The victims’ families released statements about the ruling on Friday. Cindy Peak’s family wrote, “The last year and a half without Cindy has been difficult. But today brings a measure of relief in our family. Denying the shooter some of the notoriety she sought by releasing her vile and unfiltered thoughts on the world is a result everyone should be thankful for.”

The shooter left behind at least 20 journals, a suicide note and a memoir, according to court filings. When the records requests were denied, several parties sued, and the situation quickly ballooned into a messy mix of conspiracy theories, leaked documents, probate battles and accusations of ethical misconduct. Myles’ order will almost surely be appealed.

After the initial records requests last year, police said they would eventually release the documents but could not do so right away because their investigation was still open. The groups suing for the immediate release of the records — including news outlets, a gun rights group, a law enforcement nonprofit and Tennessee state Sen. Todd Gardenhire — argued that there was no meaningful criminal investigation underway since Hale, who police say acted alone, was dead.

Meanwhile, a group of Covenant parents was allowed to intervene in the case and argue that the records should never become public. They said the release would be traumatic for the families and could inspire copycat attacks.

Myles found that the copycat risk was real and “of grave concern.”

“Hale used the writings of other perpetrators in similar crimes to guide how this plan was constructed and accomplished, mimicking some not only in their methodology, but also choice of weapons and targets,” Myles wrote. “Hale even held past perpetrators out as heroes in their attacks, idolizing them.”

Also intervening in the case were The Covenant School and the Covenant Presbyterian Church, which shares a building. They argued the records should remain closed because their release could threaten their security.

The Associated Press is among the groups that requested the records but did not participate in the lawsuit.

As the court case has dragged on, pages from one journal were leaked to a conservative commentator who posted them to social media in November. More recently, The Tennessee Star published dozens of stories based on allegedly 80 pages of Hale’s writings provided by an unnamed source. The publication is among the plaintiffs, and Myles briefly threatened to hold the paper’s editor-in-chief, Michael Leahy, and owner, Star News Digital Media, in contempt.

Although Myles’ ruling will shield many of the documents created by Hale from public release, other documents in the police file can be released once the case is officially closed as long as they fall under Tennessee’s open records law.

An attorney for the lead plaintiff in the case did not immediately have a reaction to the ruling.

Those that were killed was " Three nine-year-old students — Evelyn Dieckhaus, William Kinney, and Hallie Scruggs — were killed.  Mike Hill, a “beloved'' 61-year-old custodian, Cynthia Peak, a 61-year-old substitute teacher; and Katherine Koonce, the 60-year-old head of the school, were also killed. ``There have been a lot of remarks made about the incident due to the killer being a trans person. Some people in America have been calling for new laws to be passed in order to go against the trans community. And there are a lot of people stating this is not about trans people, it should be about new gun laws in America to create a better society for everyone. This incident has made Americans separate from each other. Gun reform advocates and LGBTQ activists are activists. The transgender community is being used as a scapegoat, due to society's unwillingness to address the gun violence problem in America. A study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law talks about how transgender people are more than four times more likely to face violent victimization, and news outlets pushing certain Narratives could cause more violence in America. When the goal should be to reduce the level of violence in America.

Nashville residents reeled after the fatal school shooting, and the federal judge dropped the minimum age for Tennesseeans to carry handguns publicly without a permit to 18. Some of the families that gathered are demanding that gun violence be taken seriously and that laws be passed in order to make families feel safe. The government of Tennessee called for the prayer of families; however, they stated they needed change alongside the prayer. However, he mentioned no gun laws but stated he would take action. He signed an executive order calling for enhanced safety measures. They will also be adding school police officers in every school. Republican lawmakers have created a bill that would make it easier to arm teachers and allow college students to carry weapons on campus.

On March 14, 2023, President Biden did say he would issue an executive order with an increased number of background checks. Also, keep more guns out of dangerous hands by increasing red flag laws. He also said he wanted to “accelerate law enforcement efforts to identify and apprehend the shooters menacing our communities." With this,  President Joe Biden addressed the mass school shooting in Tennessee. He stated this was heartbreaking, and how unsafe gun laws are ripping our communities apart. He is also calling on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban in order to protect our community.

The messages from Audrey Hale, 28, who was shot dead by police responding to 911 calls from the Covenant school in Nashville, were “basically a suicide note, the killer wrote, and “you’ll probably hear about me on the news after I die.”

But the friend who shared the Instagram exchange with Nashville’s News Channel 5, Hale’s former middle school basketball team-mate Averianna Patton, said police showed a lack of urgency after she alerted them.

Patton said she called 911, was told to call another police department’s non-emergency number, was placed on hold for almost seven minutes, then was promised a visit from an officer only five hours after the shooting.

“I learned Audrey was the shooter and that she had reached out to me before the shooting,” Patton said to Hale, who identified as transgender. “My heart is with all devastated by what has happened.”

Police on Tuesday released body-worn camera video of officers moving through the school and confronting and killing the shooter. Later, Joe Biden repeated his call for lawmakers to pass an assault weapons ban.

“I have gone the full extent of my executive authority on my own,” the president told reporters at the White House, adding that he had spoken with community members in Nashville. “I think it’s about time.

“The Congress has to act. The majority of the American people want an assault weapons ban. I can’t do anything except plead with Congress to act.”

Last year only expanded background checks for the youngest gun buyers and funded mental health and violence intervention programs.

Meanwhile, detectives continued to piece together a motive for the murders by Hale, a former student at the community who began to grieve the dead with prayer vigils and a growing memorial of flowers and soft toys.

The victims were Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all aged nine; substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61; head of school Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61, a custodian.

Their murders were, according to the Gun Violence Archive, the 129th mass shooting in the US this year. The archive defines a mass shooting as one in which four or more people are shot or wounded, not counting any attackers.

The Metro Nashville police department’s chief, John Drake, said Hale left a “manifesto” before shooting her way into the school armed with two “assault-style” weapons.

“There was possibly some resentment for that school,” he told CBS News. “We have a booklet that shows the entry point into the school, the weapons that were going to be used, and the clothing that she was going to wear, and she had drawn it up almost like a cartoon character.

The mayor of Nashville, John Cooper, praised the speed of the police response to the shooting, which he said: “was dealt with in only 14 minutes”. The Metro Nashville officers located and fatally wounded Hale on the second floor of Collazo.

The two, Cooper said in an interview on CNN, “were running into gunfire and under a lot of gunfire. “This is our worst day,” Cooper said. “But it could have been worse without this great response.”

As well as the body-cam footage released on Tuesday, separate surveillance footage published on Monday night showed Hale arriving at the school in a vehicle, shooting through the school’s glass entry doors, then wandering around hallways with a rifle raised.

Cooper echoed the call for lawmakers to pass assault weapons ban to counter an epidemic of gun violence that the president said on Monday was.

“The public is going to go back to questioning why we have so few restrictions on guns, particularly assault-level type guns, and that guns and gunfire are the number one cause of death with children,” he said.

“We really can’t tolerate that anymore. Everybody attending every vigil in Nashville to be a public response to this kind of and to say enough is enough.”

The Democratic state legislator John Ray Clemmons condemned Tennessee’s broad loosening of gun laws in 2021, which included allowing anybody over 18 to possess and carry weapons without training or a permit.

“This is my ninth year in the state legislature piece of legislation need is the gun sense,” he told CNN. “We’ve been banning books up here, not guns. We make it harder to vote than to buy an AK. We allow permit-less carry in Tennessee our governor had the gall to sign that bill at a Beretta manufacturing plant. That’s the battle I’m fighting.”

A memorial to the victims, including balloons, flowers, and soft toys, was growing at the school Tuesday, and flags were ordered to half-staff throughout the state.

Leaders of the Covenant school asked for privacy in a statement. “Our community is heartbroken,” they said. “We are grieving tremendous loss and are in shock at the terror that shattered our school and church. We are students, our families, faculty and staff, and beginning.”

Koonce had worked at the school for seven years after moving there from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The other two adult victims were both employed there.

Scruggs was a third-grade student at the school and the daughter of the Covenant Presbyterian Church lead pastor Chad Scruggs. Dieckhaus was also a third-grader Tennessean newspaper reported family attended a memorial for the victims on Monday night at Woodmont Christian church, one of several prayer vigils in Nashville.

Her older sister, a fifth-grader, broke down in tears as she remembered her sibling. “I don’t want to be an only child,” she said.
