Katherine Legge’s motorsports resume includes experience in Formula 3, Formula Renault, a Formula One test, Champ Car, INDYCAR, A1GP, DTM, Formula E and sports car racing. Legge was the first woman to win pole in a Zetec race in 2000. One year later she won BRDC’s “Rising Star” award.
In November 2005 she became the first woman to test a Formula One car since Sarah Fisher in 2002. Legge competed in the Toyota Atlantic Championship in 2005, winning the series opener in Long Beach in her first career start to become the first woman to win a developmental open wheel race in North America. She finished the 2005 Atlantic season third in the championship with three wins and five podiums. She moved up to PKV Racing in Champ Car in 2006 and became the first woman to lead a lap in that series when she led Lap 12 at Milwaukee and went on to earn an Indy car career best finish there of sixth. She later had a massive crash at Road America but was largely uninjured and able to compete in the final two races of the season. She competed for Dale Coyne Racing in 2007 and matched her best series finish of sixth at Long Beach and earned her best Indy car start of eighth, twice, before returning to Europe to compete in the DTM touring car series from 2008-2010 where she was an Audi factory driver. After a one-year hiatus from racing, she joined Dragon Racing’s INDYCAR SERIES team in 2012 but a short-lived Lotus program led to the team only being able to secure one Chevrolet engine for two drivers and Legge only competed on oval tracks.
She moved to the Delta Wing sports car program from 2013-2015 and also competed in two Formula E races with Amlin Aguri in the 2014/2015 season. She spent three seasons with Meyer Shank Racing from 2017-2019 in a factory-backed Acura GTD program and earned four wins and 11 podium finishes – including the first win worldwide for NSX in Detroit in 2017. In 2020, she competed in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in a Lamborghini in the GTD class before switching her focus to a European-based racing program. She signed with Richard Mille Racing to take part in the 2020 European Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 prototype category but was injured in a pre-season testing crash after a tire failure at the Paul Ricard circuit and missed the remainder of the season while recovering from her injuries. In 2021-2022, she returned to IMSA as lead driver for Team Hardpoint, driving a Porsche 911 in the GTD class and currently competes in an Acura NSX in the GTD class for Gradient Racing in 2023. She and her co-drivers recently finished fourth in class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
In her free time, Katherine is a Girl Scouts STEM Ambassador and enjoys skiing, cycling, training and competing in triathlons, yoga and is a vegan athlete. Legge is the second female race car driver to compete for RLL. Danica Patrick competed in the Atlantic Series with the team from 2003-2004 and in the IndyCar Series from 2005-2006.

Audi strike deal to partner with Sauber for its Formula One debut in 2026
Audi strike deal to partner with Sauber for its Formula One debut in 2026... with the German car giant taking the baton from Alfa Romeo as they look to 'write the next chapter' of the team By Reuters Published: 06:21 EDT, 26 October 2022 | Updated: 06:21 EDT, 26 October 2022 Audi will enter Formula One as Sauber's works team after they agreed a deal on Wednesday.  Audi, owned by Volkswagen, announced in August that it would enter F1 under new engine rules coming in for 2026, with its own power unit to be built in Neuburg, Bavaria.  While no financial details were disclosed in the statement confirming their agreement with Sauber, they are expected to invest to try and push the team forward as they 'write the next chapter'. Finn Rausing, chairman of Sauber's board of directors, said: 'Audi is the best strategic partner for the Sauber Group. 'It is clear that we share values and a vision, and we look forward to achieving our common goals in a strong and successful partnership.' Alfa Romeo, the current team partner, is ending its branding of the team after 2023.  In 2024 and 2025, Alfa Romeo will race with Ferrari, its current engine supplier.  Alfa Romeo will scrap their branding of the Sauber team in 2023, with Audi taking it on in 2026 'I am delighted to welcome Audi to Formula One, said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali back in August. 'It is an iconic automotive brand, pioneer and technological innovator. 'This is a major moment for our sport that highlights the huge strength we have as a global platform that continues to grow. 'It is also a big recognition that our move to sustainably fuelled hybrid engines in 2026 is a future solution for the automotive sector. 'We are all looking forward to seeing the Audi logo on the grid and will be hearing further details from them on their plans in due course.' Sauber has been involved in Formula One since 1993 and currently competes with Ferrari engines, under the name of Alfa Romeo, a Stellantis brand. Audi CEO Markus Duesmann stated that racing was 'in the DNA of Audi' at an event in August F1's next generation of power units will have significantly more electrical power and use 100 per cent sustainable fuels from 2026. F1 is also aiming to achieve a net zero carbon footprint by 2030, which Audi chairman Markus Duesmann said in August was a 'boundary condition' for the carmaker's entry. 'Racing is in the DNA of Audi,' said Duesmann. 'If you think about Le Mans, DTM and Formula E, we have always been very active and very successful, and we want to continue this success story in F1.'  Advertisement Share or comment on this article: Audi strike deal to partner with Sauber for its Formula One debut in 2026 via Formula One | Mail Online https://www.dailymail.co.uk?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490

about all of it? :D whatever you feel like typing out, im double curious now ! thank youuuu
about Nyck he said that he already has a contract for 2023 and will very likely not be able to do FE at the same time ("not be allowed" was his exact phrasing) which implies Hyper Cars more than F1
he also said that Vandoorne already has a contract for 2023 but couldn't say with whom and there were some hints that Robin could drive for Abt in 2023
As of what he said about Merc:
he didn't specifically say Mercedes but he talked about how all those "Werksteams" have sucked the fun out of FE and how FE needs to appeal to a new and younger audience and not try to lure away classic racing fans to the electric version cause it won't work but with all the car manufacturers the drivers and the sport are getting too polished to be really relatable and the sport hasn't really improved in the past few years but it's changing again and we're seeing with DTM how much more fun having teams fighting instead of manufacturers is and how much more relaxed everyone is without 20 PR people running around with every driver ... and then they showed the clips for the final duel with Stoffel and Eddie Mielke said: speaking of polished
also he was super mad about Jaguar messing up Quali for Mitch and he shaded Porsche quite a bit for being so fucking inconsistent and said how important being in the duels was for Nick and Lucas but Nick especially and he wants Mitch to win the championship cause it's 🥰Mitch🥰 but he thinks Edo really deserves it and also JEV cause he's been so consistent and he defended Max a bunch for his crash saying it's understandable for a young driver like him having such a bad season and how he likely wants to push and that can mean pushing too much
And he thinks currently the calendar isn't actually that hard on drivers and teams yet but with a race weekend every two weeks next season that will change
basically he was being my special boy with 100% right and valid opinions on main again and I wanna pinch his cheeks and tell him I am proud of him and Audi can fuck themselves

Mid-Week Motorsport Headlines - 13th October 2021
F1
Mercedes believe that if Hamilton had stayed out, he could have dropped back to the edge of the points. Looking at how Ocon did over the last 10 laps, you can see where they are coming from, as the tyres seemed to just lose temperature or something. I do think that if Lewis had pitted around when Perez did, he could have got a podium out of it, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
IndyCar
The announcement we all knew was coming has finally arrived, as Harvey has been confirmed at RLL for next year. Rather surprisingly though, it will be in the No. 45 HyVee car, which everyone assumed would have an American driver in. As for Jack, I am still surprised by the move slightly, as the Rahal team are probably on a par with Meyer Shank, so it is a risk moving like that. He will probably be in the midpack for most of the year in 2022.
Formula E
After much anger and complaints by the drivers, the group format of qualifying has finally been changed. However, instead of implementing a simpler and more logical format, they have gone completely out there with it. It will begin with two groups of 11 doing the fastest time they can, with the 4 fastest from each advancing. There will then be 4 ‘duels’, each having a winner, and these 4 will duel again to give 2 finalist who fight for pole. It is unclear what the ‘duel’ will be, presumably a race or something, yet it just seems rather confusing to me. I am still happy for them to try it out, and you never know it could work!
Other News
Rast and Muller are joining Audi’s LMDh programme from 2023. The two had been rivals in DTM for Audi last year, but Rast then focused on Formula E, only for Audi to pull out of the sport a year later. They should be great additions to the factory team going forwards.

New Audi RS 5 DTM Already a Winner
After 2 races, the new Audi RS 5 DTM is already a winning car. In round 2 of the 2017 DTM at the Hockenheimring, Jamie Green was in a class of his own.
Following an early safety car period, the Briton from Audi Sport Team Rosberg took the lead on lap three and went on to extend it to more than ten seconds. When rain set in halfway through the race and kept getting heavier, Green switched from slicks to rain tires at the right moment. His advantage was so great that he was even able to cope with a 5-second pit stop penalty. Subsequently, on a wet track, Green managed his clear lead well, crossing the finish line as the winner with a near-five-second advantage over his compatriot Gary Paffett in a Mercedes-Benz.
Like the day before, drivers of all three Audi Sport teams scored points on Sunday. Nico Müller from Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline was the second-best Audi campaigner even though the Swiss was pushed into his brand colleague Loïc Duval by Mercedes-Benz driver Robert Wickens at the start and suffered a puncture in the incident. From the last position, Müller recovered to fifth place in his damaged car.
Mike Rockenfeller from Audi Sport Team Phoenix secured position seven even though the German, following an early first pit stop, had to pit a second time for a tire change due to the rain.
For Mattias Ekström, Sunday’s race was disappointing. Following his victory in the FIA World Rallycross Championship in the morning, the Swede advanced from position ten on the grid to third place. However, after switching to rain tires, the Swede dropped to eleventh place and, as a result, scored no points.
After delivering a solid qualifying performance, newcomer Loïc Duval had to park his Audi RS 5 DTM after only seven laps due to a starting collision in which he was not at fault. For René Rast, the race was even more unfortunate. The German started from the front row for the first time, but following the restart on lap three was hit so hard by a rival that he was forced to retire in the pits. Because Rast complained about neck pain he was taken to a hospital for a precautionary medical check.

Audi is realigning the brand’s motorsport programme, which thus means the team with four rings will not extend their commitment to the DTM touring car racing series beyond the end of the 2020 season. The management board of AUDI AG made this decision as it strives to become a world-leading provider of premium mobility with a carbon-neutral footprint and in light of the economic challenges due to the Corona pandemic.
Consequently, the successful involvement in Formula E and in customer racing will be taking centre stage in Audi’s future motorsport activities. The brand has been represented in Formula E ever since the popular fully electric racing series was started in 2014. With 41 trophies, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler has been the most successful Formula E team over the years. Audi has an extremely successful history in the DTM. Having scored 23 championship titles, including eleven driver titles, plus 114 victories, 345 podium finishes, 106 pole positions and 112 fastest laps, Audi was active in the DTM from 1990 to 1992 and from 2000 onwards.

Audi's McNish Claims Provisional Front Row At Le Mans
Tumblr media
Allan McNish, in the number 2 Audi R10 TDI, guaranteed a temporary first line start position for the 75th Le Mans 24 Hours in the initial authority qualifying meeting this Wednesday. This is secured on the way that McNish was denied the quickest time in the withering seconds of the race.
Scotsman McNish, focusing on temporary post in his diesel-fueled Audi R10 TDI until French Stephane Sarrazin of Peugeot, grabbed the quickest time in the initial time preliminaries for the 54-vehicle field. McNish's 3 minutes and 26.916 secs, a normal speed of 147.34mph around the 8.47-mile circuit made out of shut down open streets, was 0.572 seconds more slow than the Sarrazin. The quickest ever Le Mans lap was accomplished on delicate race tires paying little mind to the hard conditions and the murkiness. The presentation could be compared to the predominance of the GT Styling.
"Qualifying was troublesome due to the warning stoppages and climate, so everything boiled down to the most recent ten minutes or so when times started to fall after follow conditions permitted us to screw on 'smooth' dry climate tires," reflected McNish. He added, "I had two sensible laps however experienced some traffic in the keep going chicane on my second 'hot' lap which was disappointing having buckled down for more than eight miles just to see time sneaking away in the last 10th of a mile. Nonetheless, I don't really accept that it cost me over a large portion of a subsequent which is how much quicker the Peugeot went directly at the end."
On that day, the Audi Sport Team Joest zeroed in on qualifying each of the nine drivers for the race. The Audi crew utilized the couple of dry laps and furthermore the wet track to test distinctive tire compounds, suspension set-ups and streamlined designs for the race. Every one of the three Audi R10 TDI models ran with no specialized trouble front row sports basketball.
McNish, the 37-year-old 1998 Le Mans champ, shares his V12 diesel-engined Audi with customary American Le Mans Series colleague Dindo Capello and Tom Kristensen. Kristensen passed fit recently to race at Le Mans after a mishap in a German Touring Car Masters (DTM) race in April.
The principal qualifying meeting for the race has given a clue what onlookers of what is to come this end of the week the 75th running of the French perseverance exemplary. The occasion will brandish an amazing battle among Audi and Peugeot sportscars.
After the primary passing, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, the head of Audi Motorsport said, "It was a bizarre passing today since I think it never happened that the quickest lap times were set during the most recent minutes. In any case, that was simply because of the way that during the typical time-window for quick lap times there was either a warning out or the track was wet. We have accomplished some great work and qualified every one of our drivers in the evening. I'm happy with the occasions we have accomplished today."
Ralf Jüttner, the specialized head of Audi Sport Team Joest, added, "With the changing track conditions and the numerous warnings we encountered some sort of abnormal qualifying today. The conditions didn't permit us to adhere to our program, since we generally needed to respond to the conditions. Toward the end it was an issue of being out on slicks at the extremely opportune time."

Heyyyyy ✨ I'm having so many thoughts in my head because everything is stressing me out and on top of that silly season seems to have started and simsy just left and now there is BMW seat open and I just read somewhere that Beitske is a BMW backed driver and I'm just thinking what if she might get in but then I remember it's probably really not happening and then I'm sad again... omg I'm so sorry that I wrote so much.😅 Basically is there a SLicence for FE? Hope you have good day✨💞
Haha it’s fine anon!
So, Beitske could definitely be in with a shot at reserve driver for BMW, she’s had a lot of test time with the team (both at official collective testing and in the private manufacturer tests) and was at all the races in Season 5 to step in if Sims or Da Costa had been unavailable for whatever reason.
However, it looks like Philipp Eng will get the race seat. I actually don’t know Beitske’s current status with BMW as although she's been with them for a long time, they’re currently shedding factory drivers like my cat on a woolly jumper as they’ve closed some of their GT programmes and are looking likely to exit DTM - since they’re the only factory programme left.
All the German marques are currently struggling financially, partly because of COVID and also because they all got heavily fined (extremely rightly so) over lying about diesel emissions so everything is in a bit of a mess for a lot of places, Porsche, Audi and BMW very much included.
It looks like she’s still doing VLN with them (as is Sims) so that keeps her ‘in the window’ as it were. It’d be great to see her get some more seat time in Formula E.
Onto your actual question: yes, there is a super license for Formula E. It’s called the e-license and the requirements are much more flexible but intended to maintain an appropriate driver standard within the championship.
From Formula E’s regs page:
Just like a driving licence for the road - Formula E drivers must qualify to participate. In order to enter the FIA Formula E Championship, drivers must comply with the following:
Drivers must conduct a specific FIA training session focussing on electrical safety, specific features of the fully-electric Formula E car, as well as reviewing both technical and sporting aspects of the series.
Drivers must have accumulated at least 20 points in the past three years, in conjunction with the FIA points system - used to qualify for a Super Licence. Or, to have previously been holding a Super Licence, or to have participated in at least three events of the previous FIA Formula E Championship.
The champion from the previous season automatically qualifies for a Super Licence the following year.
If these points aren’t met - a driver judged by the FIA to have consistently demonstrated outstanding ability in single-seater categories, but with little or no opportunity to qualify, can still participate.
That’s so that drivers coming to Formula E from, say, GT racing are still eligible even though that earns you little or nothing in terms of Super License points. It seems obvious if you’re a professional driver at a high standard then you should be able to get the license, regardless of the specifics of the categories you’ve competed in.
Hope that makes sense!
