Plot: nikki realises how much he needs you

I do think that it's to do with age/level of maturity. Out of people I've talked to and blogs I've seen the average S///t///cky shipper is around 14/17 while most Stevetony shippers tend to be in their 20s.

Also to add: these ages make sense in terms of how the relationships are being interpreted. In most stevetony fics there's quite realistic relationship progression with acknowledgment that both of them have been in serious romantic relationships before, realistic negotiations of privacy and relationship (they don't have to be attached at the hip 24/7). My own dark period when I was reading s/tcky (truly dark time) i noticed that usually it's much more dramatised. One flies into a jealous rage...

If the other even so much as talks to someone else. They have to be attached to each other constantly 24/7. Very unrealistic portrayals of sex as well I must add (it makes me cringe thinking about it). I do think there's actually a direct correlation between how world-wise you are/which one you ship (been wanting to test this for the longest time). Maturity definitely plays a huge factor and I think it shows in the fics and the way that the shippers interact inside and outside their community.

i do believe those are visible trends, even though not the rule. but i’ve blocked a lot of shippers and therefore saw a lot of their profiles, and a lot of their ages, and i know not many of them went past 20. could be a coincidence, could be not.

i don’t read st**** fics, i never have and i don’t think i ever will. i never shipped it (lucky me lol). so i don’t know what goes on there. but i’ve seen posts and metas around, and i’ve seen the worrying tendency of making steve and b****’s relationship incredibly co-dependent or otherwise unhealthy. the avengers as a team barely registers, if at all. i have so little engagement with this ship and yet i have noticed how much the shippers tend to create a vacuum around these two characters, even in fiction. S and B only act and react with/towards each other, it’s like they live in their impenetrable bubble and that’s it. i’m just not interested in that. that isn’t to say that there aren’t st**** fics that portray a different dynamic. i’m sure there are. i want to hope there are. it’s just not what i’ve seen for the most part, but i do admit to have a limited experience. but you seem to have engaged with this content and are saying the same thing, so. yeah. idk. maturity isn’t just age, i firmly believe that. but age brings some form of maturity with it, or at least a different attitude towards certain things. i know what i’m interested in and what i’m not. and seeing the kind of behavior displayed by many st**** fans (harassing actors--sebstan for shipping buckynat and cevans for loving steve and tony’s relationship--being rude to people who don’t ship their ship, post hate in the tags, send anon hate) i’m just glad i’m not part of that in any way.
