World Pharmacists Day
World Pharmacists Day on September 25 is a celebration of every pharmacist, pharmaceutical scientist, and others who are part of this field. Four million people are engaged in this profession around the globe. World Pharmacists Day is thus not only a welcome event, but it is also a crucial holiday to honor the role these guys play in improving global health outcomes. The day is marked by events and activities sponsored by various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Globally, they all have one common goal — to increase awareness about pharmacists and their roles.
History of World Pharmacists Day
The ancient art of pharmacy probably began when someone somewhere first thought of applying the juice from leaves to heal a wound. There have also been Greek legends written centuries ago that spoke of gods being apothecaries or pharmacists. The Greek god of healing, Asclepius, delegated the compounding of his remedies to Hygieia, his apothecary or pharmacist.
For the longest time, healing and pharmacy went hand-in-hand and were often thought of as the same practice. The line between pharmacy and medicine began to be defined by the eighth century and was firmly established by the time the 17th century rolled along. Now, physicians could no longer prepare medications for their patients themselves. The field transformed yet again with the onslaught of World War II. New drugs were constantly introduced into the market, and the role of the pharmacist became more defined than ever.
Today’s pharmacist performs multiple vital duties. Their tasks include identifying and providing people with the right medication, overseeing stocking and restocking of medicines, and staying ahead of medicine expiry dates. This is probably why the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) established this day to honor all pharmacists. The premier global body to represent all pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, the FIP aims to support the pharmacist network and the development of this profession. The reason behind the date for the annual celebrations can also be traced back to the FIP. According to the founders of this day, they wanted to honor the organization that was doing so much for pharmacists. This is why they picked the date the FIP was established — September 25, 1912.

5 Cool Facts About Pharmacists
First-world pharmacists
Many pharmacists were famous people
The first commercial drug
The first pharmacy also sold traditional remedies
Ginger ale by accident
Around 90% of people in the U.S. live within five miles of a pharmacist — that's how many of these health professionals the country has.
Alexander Flemming (who discovered penicillin), Agatha Christie (world-famous crime author), and Hubert Humphrey (38th Vice President of the U.S.), are only some famous names who have also been pharmacists.
Pharmacists began selling the first mass-produced, pre-packaged drug called 'antipyrine' in 1883; by the 1900s, most medicines were sold by pharmacies this way.
Louis Dufilho, Jr., America's first licensed pharmacist, opened a pharmacy in New Orleans that sold Voodoo remedies, opium, and leeches, alongside traditional medicines.
A pharmacist named James Vernor was creating a mixture to calm the stomach when he accidentally made what would then be known as one of America's oldest soft drinks — 'Vernors Ginger Ale.'
Why We Love World Pharmacists Day
They're making the world richer
They're the most accessible
They make the world better
More than four million pharmacists worldwide had reportedly boosted the revenue of this market to around 1204.8 billion U.S.D! That's a big number, and it looks like it'll keep growing. We — and many governments, we're sure — love this positive growth.
Of all healthcare professionals, pharmacists are one of the easiest to get to. With a huge population of these professionals present worldwide, they have the potential and the opportunity to help people as soon as they are needed.
They readily use their expertise, knowledge, and skills to help us extract the best use from our medicines. Pharmacists are always ready to help, which is why we love that there's a special day dedicated to them.

This is sad news. When we lived in Downtown, this Walgreens was a huge boost for the neighborhood and we were able to cover a good bit of our grocery list at this store. It comes a few years after the closure of a nearby MARTA-accessible CVS as well.
Downtown needs to be a place that's so packed with full-time residents that stores would never consider closing. I'm absolutely here to die on the "many of Downtown's problems would be largely addressed by more residents" hill.

PR6 SPECULATIONS - Ironblood
In honor of Mainz (my precious little meowmeow) getting a skin, I've decided that the next nation to get a post is the Ironblood. Honestly I intended to do Eagle Union first lol.
Just like last post: Do not treat any of the following choics as guaranteed. I would not bet money on any of these specific ones getting added as part of PR6 this year, it's just the ships I see as Very LikelyTM.
Also, I will tell you which ones I think could be Priority Research (SSR) or Decisive Research (UR). Because I'm sure we could get another Ironblood DR.
Schröder
Let's begin with a possible DR, Schröder.
She's a large cruiser. Yes. But before you get your pitchforks out, Schröder could be the different large cruiser some of y'all have been wanting to get.
No torpedoes, but scarily good secondary armament (I'm talking as good as Odin in AL, but in the vanguard). Extreme speeds and evasion stats, she's a fast as fuck ship. On top of that, she has somewhat weak armor.
All of this combined would make Schröder a certainly unique shipgirl, vastly different from all the other large cruisers: a somewhat spongy (but not too tanky), super fast fire-setting ship.
Max Immelmann
The second possible DR, Max Immelmann. She's an aircraft carrier with only torpedo bombers and skip bombers, on top of having great armor and secondaries (she's literally an FdG with a runway on top).
Honestly, she's kinda bad in WoWs. She's hyped too much because she's marginally better than Manfred von Richtofen, the other Tier 10 German CV; but that's not saying much.
She would be a bomb spammer for sure.
Anhalt
This monstrosity you see is the German battlecruiser Anhalt. She has 15 305mm guns that are extremely accurate with a respectable 21.1km range, meaning she's a snipper. Her guns don't deal a lot of damage (because they're very low caliber) but she's somewhat agile and fast (not as much as Zieten, which is a mini Rupprecht) so she can get behind cover if needed.
Schultz
The Schultz is an enlarged destroyer - basically a light cruiser cosplaying as a destroyer. Unlike Dido or Atlanta or other ships that straddle the line between DD and CL, the Schultz doesn't fire too much, nor does she fire too fast. She's mediocre.
Her torpedoes hit hard it you can prepare an entire tea party while they reload. She has no hydro, making her instantly weaker than the other German DDs.
Still, she could be an extremely tanky destroyer.
Pommern
You know her by now, probably. The half-sister of FdG, Pommern.
She's one of my favorites. The pinnacle of German battleship gameplay in WoWs - meh caliber (380mm, low for her tier), torpedoes, brilliant secondary guns, terrible stern turret angles, amazing armor that gets negated by her huge superstructure, and hydroacoustic search.
She could be a PR version of FdG that fires torpedoes ala Odin.
Preussen
The last pick for a DR, Preussen.
With a proper build, you could have a Preussen with scary secondaries who also shoots every 21.1 seconds. 21.1 seconds. Tirpitz, a fast firing battleship, reloads every 26.
And with guns as big as Preussen's (457mm), being able to fire every 21.1 seconds means you don't have to worry about accuracy betraying you. By the time the shells arrive at the objective, your next salvo is about to be loaded.
A super-fast firing FdG with overall better stats. To balance her out, she could be greedy - she won't provide any buffs to any Ironblood shipgirl, and needs flagship position to get the most out of her.

i think december 2021 was just kind of an insane time of my life in retrospect. bc i was very very very sick with a nasty sinus infection, to the point that i couldn't focus my eyes or talk, and i was either throwing up or dry heaving almost nightly for a few weeks. and my brain had just been completely broken for the past 2 months, i'd been on an emotional rollercoaster and at the time i had no clue why. crying at work, freaking out all the time, just completely out of control.
but i was also on vacation.
we went to nashville first but really all we did there was go to a subpar indian chinese restaurant, and then whole foods, about five different urgent cares (the first four turned me away for having covid symptoms even though i'd tested negative), a vegan bakery (which was next door to the urgent care, since there was an hour wait), and then CVS before we hit the road for atlanta. i had to get a steroid shot in my butt. i hate needles i have a phobia but it did help the symptoms a little bit. the meds they prescribed did nothing, so by the time we got to atlanta, i was better but still coughing up a lung every night.
it was an unfamiliar city, it was december, it was still warm somehow, it was 6 pm pitch black out, i was having random crying meltdowns in the hotel room and having these incredibly vivid and detailed dreams where i'd try and fail to kill myself. i remember i ate hot pot for the first time in years and it was wonderful. i went to ponce city market and got wildly existentially frustrated at a paper shop and then experienced transcendent joy at another shop where my mom got me a cool pendant and i got her a toy penguin.
i was also inexplicably obsessed with watching dumb edits of bad and boujee:
i dont know i was just thinking about this because migos came up on my youtube recs and now whenever i listen to them im just mentally transported to the absolute vibes of december 2021
#cactus.txt#things have been better since then LOL i rarely get sick anymore and figured some brain stuff out#also i remember on the way home from the road trip we got five guys at like 5 or 6 pm#and i was SO looking forward to eating it but just didnt get hungry enough to stomach food#and then i fell asleep in the back seat around 11 pm and then woke up at midnight and woke up again when we got home at 4 am and#i was RAVENOUS for that hot dog#and i was so mad bc id wanted it the whole ride but wasnt hungry#and now i was too sleepy to eat#ended up eating it for breakfast the next morning with some sushi grade raw salmon. was good

National Pharmacist Day
In the world of medication experts, these professionals ensure prescriptions are on point and everyone's health is in good hands.
National Pharmacist Day implores everyone to take a moment to think of all those important people who work as pharmacists. These are people whose job it is to mostly see people when they are sick with a cold or cough, need a refill on that asthma inhaler or even have a hangover. Or perhaps when someone has run out of toothpaste.
In any case, these helpful folks are able to assist people all over the world to feel better, even though they mostly only see them at their worst. So, now it’s time to learn about and celebrate National Pharmacist Day!
History of National Pharmacist Day
The practice of pharmacy got its start in ancient times when plants were used as drugs, and the practitioners might have been known as herbalists. Pharmacy even has roots in the Greek legend about Asclepius, the god of the art of healing.
The separation of physicians and pharmacy dates back to 1683 in Bruges, Belgium, where a law was enacted forbidding doctors from making medication for patients. By 1751, when Ben Franklin helped to establish the first hospital in the United States, Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, the first pharmacy was created in the US.
The role of the pharmacists changed significantly after World War II when the science behind drug development began changing rapidly.
Today, the pharmacists aren’t not responsible for actually making the pills and potions, but for storing them, fulfilling them with correct dosage, offering advice to patients, watching for mistakes or drug interactions and other duties that are vital to the health of billions of people all over the world.
How To Celebrate National Pharmacist Day
Looking for ways to get involved with National Pharmacists Day? Here are some great ideas to get started:
Visit a Pharmacist Just to Thank Them
Know a Pharmacist or a student of Pharmacy? Well, get out there and thank them on this important day.
In fact, perhaps on this special day, National Pharmacists Day, it would be a delightful idea to take a moment to visit a pharmacy with a smile on your face and a healthy bounce to your step – it’s certain to be a surprise to them! Pop up to the counter without a need for a medical refill or to buy cough syrup. Simply step up and tell them that it’s National Pharmacists Day and they deserve to be thanked!
Learn Some Important Facts About Pharmacists
Not sure what the person wearing that white coat does? Here are some interesting facts that might help people to understand a bit better:
Pharmacists Hold Doctorate Degrees At least in the United States, since the year 2000, all practicing pharmacists must hold a Pharm. D. (Doctor of Pharmacy Degree). In addition, they complete 1-3 years of residency and fellowship training.
Pharmacists Can Administer Vaccines All 50 of the United States allow pharmacists to administer at least some vaccines. Annual flu shots are the most common immunizations that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can administer.
Pharmacists Help with Medication Management When a patient is seeing several doctors, particularly for chronic conditions, it can get confusing when they are taking a variety of different medications. Pharmacists offer Medication Therapy Management (MTM) to help patients optimize their drug therapy resulting in improved outcomes.
Pharmacists Are Highly Accessible While getting to a doctor may be difficult or far away, 90% of Americans live within 5 miles of a pharmacy.

I went to CVS to get a covid booster the other day, and the pharmacy tech (lovely woman) told me that they only send TWENTY BOOSTERS AT AT TIME (not sure how often they send the boosters). Metro Atlanta has a population of 6,106,000, and there 105 CVS locations in and around ATL. That means that at any given time, there's only 2,100 booster vaccinations available (at CVS locations) to 6,106,000 people. (And she told me that a lot of times, in their system there's a negative amount of boosters available bc more people are booking appts than there are vaccines available.) What the actual fuck. The government doesn't give a shit if we all die or become disabled. I hate it here.
