The Ata Mania Continues

Ata mania has broken out across the DoE galaxy. People are drawing. People are coloring. People are writing nonfiction and considering her origins. I also see computer-generated scenes. So what's the deal?

Atascadero appears in the DoE episode "The Lost Jewels of Tibet." She's a plucky archaeologist with ties to Mandrake. It's implied heavily that the two are former lovers. They team up for a new adventure, then go their separate ways again. One would think that she could have been a solid recurring character. She might have bonded with Jedda, and maybe even the Phantom, possibly creating a nice love triangle involving him and Mandrake.

Since so little is known about Atascadero, fans have a lot of creative freedom when working with her. What we do know is that, like the Walkers, she's pretty agile and athletic. But, like most of the Gordons, she has no superpowers, relying entirely on her skills, smarts, and, perhaps, her charm.

Definitely an intriguing gal. I'm in awe of Neldorwen's stunning image. Such a beautiful take on the character.

I had to post this spider because everyone was drunk (except me), it was well past midnight, our first week living in California, and one person wanted to take us thru this haunted house they really loved in the middle of nowhere. I drove us like 20-30min to this place, in the country, no sidewalks, no street lights, just one lane winding roads, a lot of them dirt. No people, no other traffic. We get in the front door, and right next to it, was the most perfect black widow I'd ever seen. Atascadero was overrun with them, but this one was really striking. We had to use a flashlight to get a good photo of it in the pitch black. Place was being lived in by squatters, but nobody was home when we came by. Widows come out at night, make their webs along the ground, and quickly cause an infestation...imagine spending the night in this house, lying in your sleeping bag or trash mattress on the floor, and being covered in black widows...
