Hints in Level Design
Trying to create a way to tell the player what to do/where to go without making the hint intrusive is difficult depending on the task. In my case, I want to hint to the player that, in level 2, the valve needed to proceed is in an area that isn't on camera. For this, I'm going to use a similar method to Astro Bot.
In Astro Bot, there are levels that use an armadillo as a form of transportation. In these mini-levels, there is a sign with a skull symbol on it. If the player doesn't know/remember how to do it and accidentally hits the armadillo, it is programmed to always hit the sign and bounce back to the player, indicating that it is required for the level.
I really like this method of hinting to the player as its extremely subtle and doesn't pause the gameplay for people who know what they're doing. I want to do something similar for my game.
My method of hinting to the player that there is something below the screen is by using a sign just like in Astro Bot. This sign points in two directions, the main route and the area below the screen where the valve is.
This should be subtle enough that it blends into the game and doesn't feel out of place, but also clear enough that the player understands what it is there for.

Inside of everybody's head Inside of everybody's head There is a hum There's a hum There's a never-ending hum And no one ever seems to notice it No one seems to notice it You have never noticed it Never ever, never ever Until now!
Deep in the dankest corners of the human mind Of any given person that you happen to see There rests a creature Or more specifically A creature, hiding and sitting In the churning, boiling, philosophical pot Of self-aware chowder that we call thought
This creature has a name But it's different for each person Mine is named Corey And it looks like an armadillo In kiss make-up!
Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba
Picture your spirit in a delicatessen In the slums of the universe "Open" sign dangling, daring all parasites Giving you mosquito bites Sucking the life out of all of your customers But fear not, it's your critter to the rescue Hum emanating from its lips
And fear disappears As the parasite trips And lands in a puddle And that's your rebuttal To the argument that you Weren't even listening to Because of the never-ending hum (Mmmm)
Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba jabba Jabbidy jabbidy jabbidy jabbajibba
-🍋👿 NEVERENDING HUM (i can not for the LIFE of me remember if i've already sent one of these to you, astro.. but it doesn't hurt to send another!!)
uh... i dont recognize the song. but thank you! i might look for it later..
(i dont think youve sent one..)

Best eSignature Solution for Ease of Use, Security, and Legal Compliance
RPost’s new product evangelist mascot – Armand the Armadillo is here to show you how you can save 50% or more on your eSignatures.
We've been enjoying the creativity that some software companies have exemplified when they successfully infused mascots as product representations or product evangelists. It often makes one's products more recognizable at the least, and more fun to interact with at the best.
Take Twitter's Larry the Bird. Before Musk killed the bird and transformed it into the letter X, it was one of the iconic mascots of our computer times. Then there is Snapchat's Picaboo, recently renamed Ghostface Chillah -- certainly recognizable among your teens. How about Mailchimp's Freddie? Most marketers would say they've known Freddie for many years. And then there is Salesforce's Astro Nomical who lives with a cabal of friends in Salesforcelandia.
I think you'll like Armand the Armadillo's first message --- he spoke about how, in 15 minutes, he can show you how you can save 50% or more on your eSignatures.
Without stealing Armand the Armadillo’s thunder, we'll let you read the transcript of Armand's first press conference, below.
Thank you for joining this RPost press conference, in New York City at the cybersecurity technology gathering, to announce my new role at RPost as its worldwide product evangelist.
Why did I, Armand the Armadillo, choose this new role at RPost and leave my armadillo friends to talk tech to company executives the world over? It's simple! I first heard of RPost when they were named by Aragon Research as the “Hot Vendor of the Year” for digital transaction management in September. And then, on top of that, IDC named RPost a worldwide leader in eSignatures in their MarketScape Worldwide report. And seemingly back-to-back, RPost won the “Innovator of the Year” for DTM in December, named so by Aragon Research.

Mega Man 8 Review
Well, I did it for 9 and 10, this should be fun.
I uhh... I have a confession.
I genuinely like this game. Gonna throw that out there.
Weapons
Thunder Claw - I love multipurpose weapons (EG Wheel Cutter), and this is a REALLY good one, and it’s actually one of my top 20 weapons! 10/10!
Flash Bomb - This is technically multipurpose, but not really. You only use its illumination once in the entire game, and even then it’s optional. But it’s powerful and hits several times. 8/10
Ice Wave - It’s a stronger version of Water Wave. That’s really about it, as you only use its freezing ability once, like with Flash Bomb. 7/10
Tornado Hold - Yes. YES. YES. 10/10
Flame Sword - It lacks the damage of its predecessor of the Slash Claw, but I really like this one anyway. I like how the flames are utilized several times. Another one of my top 20. 10/10.
Water Balloon - I only JUST started liking this one, honestly. It’s the same damage as Thunder Claw, but it’s not short range, and it travels in a slight arc, making it more useful for damage, especially if you’re like me, and you’re bad at measuring your jump height. 10/10.
Astro Crush - Standard Screen Clearing Weapon. Doesn’t do much other than damage things, honestly. But it gets the job done. Not too crazy about it, really. 6/10 for lack of originality.
Homing Sniper - This is what Dive Missile SHOULD have been. It shows you EXACTLY what it’s targeting, and it can be charged for 3 missiles to come out too! 10/10 because of how flat out useful it is.
Mega Ball - This is the Power Stone of this game. You’re gonna need to use it an awful lot if you want to, well, beat the game, so get used to its weird attack pattern. It’s fairly easy to tell where it’s gonna go, at least, though I don’t know why they used it instead of Rush Coil. Either way, it’s rather powerful, and I enjoy using it. 8/10. Not perfect, but not terrible either.
Bosses
Weird Crab Thing - 10/10 since it utilizes the new weapon PERFECTLY. Plus going back for bolt hunting is simple with Astro Crush.
Frost Man (And all the Robot Masters but Sword Man and Grenade Man) - Here’s where we get to the bad part of Mega Man 8... All the bosses are Toad Mans to an extent. Way too easy with their weakness weapon. Sure, the fights are fun if you DON’T have the weapon, but there’s little chance of that when it’s 4 stages at a time... So all the bosses in this category get a 6/10. They’re really only fun to fight when they’re fought with the Buster.
Grenade Man - THIS is a fun fight. Grenade Man never flinches, even when hit with the Thunder Claw, and he’s constantly on the move, only stopping for brief moments where his Flash Bombs can deflect your shots. And when he’s down to a quarter health, HE DESTROYS THE FLOOR, and you’re forced to fight him on uneven terrain! I love this fight, it’s one of my favorite boss fights in the series, up there with Shade Man and Magnet Man. 10/10!
Sword Man - This fight kinda irks me, to be honest. I like it, yeah... well, no, I don’t really. It’s just annoying. He has at least three attacks where you can’t hit him without his weakness (the fire tornado), and two of those you can’t even hit him WITH his weakness (Being the fire slash separation thing and the separating before a Flame Sword). Not to mention he’s taller than you, so your buster isn’t going to hit his only vulnerable part being his upper body. It’s just really... annoying. Not a BAD fight by any means, I just don’t like it. 4/10.
Duo - I dunno if I should count this, really, since it isn’t a boss fight, per se, just a miniboss. But I’m counting it. And I think someone was playing Armored Armadillo's fight, because that’s this minus the cannon. 4/10 for lack of originality as well as a lack of a health bar.
Wily 1 Boss - MEGA BALL, THE FIGHT. I really like it! It’s a fun puzzle, trying to figure out where the Mega Ball needs to be fired from to hit the guy. And the bomb he uses at a third of his health bar is a fun decoy! 8/10!
Wily 2 Boss - USE ASTRO CRUSH TO WIN. 10/10 because flying is fun.
Wily 3 Boss - Meh. It’s a new Devil type with an interesting concept, but they reused the same guy for an INTRO STAGE boss in &Bass, so I can’t say he’s difficult... (I say despite him being the only fortress boss I died to). 7/10.
Wily Machine - Unmemorable. I replayed the game last week and I hardly remember the thing. 6/10.
Wily Capsule - It’s really just the same old here. Not too much changed, and it’s even easier than 7′s. Then again 7′s is widely stated to be the most deadly one. 7/10. Still fun, I guess, but not as much as 7′s.
Stages
Intro - Serves its purpose, and teaches the Mega Ball and Swimming mechanics really well.10/10.
Frost Man - Best part is the Jet Sled. I LOVE that part. 9/10.
Tengu Man - Bit slow and enemy heavy for my tastes, but the Rush section was cool. 7/10.
Clown Man - I love the entire concept of this stage, and I think it was executed really well... except for the pirate ship part. That’s too enemy heavy when you don’t have any weapons that are good enemy killers. 7/10.
Grenade Man - This is a simple stage done really well! Not much else to say here. 8/10.
Mid - Didn’t need to exist. 2/10.
Sword Man - This really should have been the Mid Stage, since it’s all about learning the alternate attacks for your first set of weapons. You could end up going here last, and that isn’t good if you want to learn how to use your weapons. Still, it’s good. 7/10.
Astro Man - I like the maze sections! And they make up the majority of the stage, so 8/10.
Aqua Man - Loooong.... Not really that fun, either... 5/10.
Search Man - This is the best stage. 10/10.
Wily Stages
Wily 1 - I liked the Snowboarding stage, and that was rather fun. 9/10.
Wily 2 - I liked Tengu Man’s stage, and this made it even better with a Boss IN THE SKY! 10/10!
Wily 3 - It’s the Only normal platforming stage in Wily Tower, which I found odd. It’s a fun stage, though! 7/10.
Wily 4 - It’s a rematch stage. That’s about it. 10/10 since you can actually know where each boss is located without playing 10 times.
Other
Music - Not as good as 7, but they’re good themes. I especially love Sword Man. Overall, 6/10.
Handling - It’s really just kinda... slow. Swimming is fast, oddly enough, but the rest of the game other than the snowboarding in Wily 1 and Frost Man is really slow. I mean Mega Man’s speed, it’s really responsive, but slow. Overall, 5/10.
Bolts - I like how this is a scavenger hunt that utilizes your more technical weapons. I said it. I really like that aspect, I like how you have to be smart with your bolts. I can’t really put this on an of 10 rating, but I’ll say that I liked it.
301/400, or a 75%.

Amandina.

October finally arrives with a fresh set of music from new to familiar artists alike.
Debuts!
Single Cover for ‘my’
Cover for ‘The First Scene’
October 1 was the official debut of singer-songwriter Youra . She hypnotizes us with her gentle and unique voice in her first single, ‘my‘. Its minimalistic sound makes you want to wander around anywhere that is brisk and has fall foliage.
Youra has been gaining attention by releasing her own music through Soundcloud, which led her to be one of 015B‘s guest singer for the song ‘My Hair is Green‘. She is currently working with producers like Car, The Garden on her upcoming album. I can’t wait!
youtube
Next up is another solo debut from a member of SNSD and sub-unit Oh!GG. Yuri shines not only in the music video for ‘Into You,’ but also throughout her first mini-album ‘The First Scene‘. The album has very well musical versatility from chic (‘Illusion‘ and ‘C’est La Vie (That’s LIFE!)‘)to sweet (‘Butterfly‘), and finishing it off with deep emotions (‘Chapter 2‘ and ‘Ending Credit (To be continued)‘). Like an actress, she is able to convince the audience that she’s capable of filling any character, or in this case, any genre.
youtube
Seeing Astro member Cha Eun Woo on the thumbnail, I assumed Astro had a new special track. But one can’t avoid seeing that the artist name is S.O.U.L (Sound of Ultra Light). A new group? Kinda.
S.O.U.L is a unit group for an upcoming web series called ‘Top Management‘. Soompi reported back in April that the series is based on an internet novel. ‘Top Management’ will be released later this year, being the first drama produced and released by Youtube Red.
S.O.U.L’s song ‘Get Myself With You‘ is funky and light, and it’s impressive to see and hear actors Ahn Hyo Seop and Jung Yoo Ahn take on vocals. Check out their cute music video below!

Comebacks!
‘New Kids: The Final’ Album Cover
‘PART 2 RE:FRESH’ Cover Art
‘Dawn’ Album Cover
‘TOPGUN’ Album Cover
It’s only been two months since the chart-topping group, iKON, made their comeback. They quickly return to the scene this month, finishing off their ‘New Kids’ series with ‘New Kids: The Final‘. The music video leading the mini-album is the sentimental-pop, ‘Goodbye Road‘. The strings in this song are well balanced with the upbeat throughout the song. It makes me want iKON to release a strings version, along with their other hits. iKON has gone soft and soulful in their own way this time around, which provides a perfect wind down from their bountiful releases this year.
youtube
After six months from debuting, rookie-group Noir are confidently reaching for the skies on ‘Airplane Mode‘. Along with the flight concept, they promote another mini-album conveniently titled like the Tom Cruise movie, ‘TOPGUN‘. The production of this album slightly reminded me of OSTs of flight simulation action video games, like ‘Ace Combat’.
youtube
Gloom arises with pop-rock band The Rose as they comes back with ‘She’s In The Rain‘. It leads their second mini album, ‘Dawn‘ and it’s very sentimental. Each track creates a heartbreaking narrative of loving and losing that love. Its overall gloomy tone can still provide comfort in distressing times as it connects with listeners who are struggling from daily life.
youtube
Soyou shows her saucy side with her title-track, ‘All Night (Prod. Groovy Room, Oreo) with Sik-K‘. The instrumental in this track is like a modernized interpretation of tango music which is fun to dance to. Sik-K‘s feature is like adding some nice spice to this rhythmic flavor of a song.
youtube
Soyou promotes her second EP ‘PART.2 [RE:FRESH]‘, and continues to reign as ‘queen of collaboration’ as each track title credits big names of those she’s worked with. Involved in production also includes soloist DAVII, singer/songwriter Yoon Hyun Sang; and producers Armadillo (JYP), e. one ( WJSN‘s ‘Secret‘ and EXO‘s ‘Lucky‘), Seion, and Yu Jin Gyeong. She even credits herself for the bluesy ‘Shadows‘.

Dios mío, he quedado perpleja.
