Seven Emotions Tag
choose one OC at a time, search any of your writings that contain that OC, and share passages where that character expresses such emotions in this list: joy, sadness, anger, anxiety, fear, disgust, embarrassment bonus points if the emotion is implied but not listed in the text by name. if there’s a reason the character does not express one of those emotions, feel free to share that reasoning instead.
i opted for annoyed in place of anger … somehow all of these are from the press start prologue alone—mood swings much, rem?

joy
[Oliver’s] offering a CD up to Rem, and Rem chokes out a laugh when he makes out what it is.
“Fuck you,” he says at the goofy grin breaking across Oli’s mouth while Madonna’s Like a Prayer album hangs from his extended hand.
“For the record, it’s Ziggy’s.” Rem raises a doubtful eyebrow that Oliver rolls his eyes at and reaches for a different CD from atop his nightstand. Passes it to Rem, who accepts it this time. London Calling, stamped with a price tag from the pawn shop, and something like fondness swells across his chest. “Let’s try it out?”
They do, with the headphones sitting between their heads on Oli’s pillows: The Clash, first, followed by Billy Idol, and R.E.M. until late into the night and Oliver’s passing out next to him.
anger annoyed
[Rem] can’t get his fucking cigarette lit. Cups a palm around the lighter and tries again and again.
Until Oli takes the lighter from him. Stands to block the wind and flicks it to life, flame catching on the end of the cigarette.
Rem mumbles a thanks around the filter and continues down the sidewalk, suddenly eager to get home.
“Moth thinks it’s a good idea.”
“Of fucking course he does. Could tell that guy you were gonna jump off a bridge and he’d call it a good idea.”
anxiety
[Rem] hums a distracted agreement. Glances towards the front door and back to the TV screen, trying and failing to focus on the McAllister kid screaming through the speakers while he fixates on the necklace in his pocket, haunting him as a silent I love you claws at the back of his throat.
Decides it’s better he gives it to Oli now while everyone else is out and not around to see, to question, or assume.
And before he can back out completely and throw it away the second he leaves.
fear
“I might’ve met someone.”
It’s jarring, what [Oliver] says, drags Rem to a halt. “Fuck does that mean?”
“Maybe met isn’t the right word. I … there was a Christmas card in the mail, addressed to someone that I guess used to live there? At the house. Raine’s grandma, I guess.”
“Who the fuck is Raine?”
His answer comes in a breathless burst: “That’s what I’m trying to get to. Her grandma used to live where Zig, Lex, and I are renting. And I guess she didn’t know about her grandma not living there anymore? I dunno. Details’re kinda fuzzy. But I wrote back, to say hey this isn’t Fran Donovan’s address anymore.” He ducks his head to hide a smile and Rem’s anxiety knocks against his ribs in a steady beat. “We’ve been writing back and forth for a couple weeks now.”
“Why?” And more importantly, why’s this the first time Rem is hearing about it?
disgust
“Pizza’ll be here in ten or so,” Oli says as he slides away from Rem. “Think it was a … pepperoni for you and me, a small cheese for Zig, and I don’t even wanna think about what Scallion picked for him and Lex.” He shudders and accepts a can of soda Ziggy offers him.
“Extra onions!” Scallion says, voice muffled where his face’s now pressed into Lex’s side. “Pickles. And meatballs.”
Rem’s nose wrinkles. “See why Lex’s got intimacy issues. Wouldn’t wanna taste that shit secondhand, either.”
embarrassment
An index card above the necklaces reads Morse Code Necklaces and he takes a closer, curious look.
They’re thin black ropes with patterns of tiny black and white beads; Rem drags a finger across the beads of the frontmost necklace.
“You want one of those, hun?”
Rem startles at Mae’s voice, bristles at the term of endearment.
No longer crouched at the display, she’s upright behind the counter with a small white box of fudge in hand stamped with the shop’s name. “Your mama would love one, I’m sure.”
His … that’s not at all where Rem’s thoughts had drifted when he glimpsed the small print morse code reveals a secret hidden message beside a larger I love you at the bottom of the card the necklace is attached to.
“Uh.” He swallows an anxious bubble and can’t find his voice in time to reply.
“Here.” Mae takes pity on him, like she thinks he can’t fucking afford it—he can’t—or that he’s too shy to admit he wants it, or— “It’s on the house, okay? But don’t let your mama know that.”
She’s never going to know it exists, if Rem can help it.

[ID: A cropped scan from Astounding Science fiction January 1958, showing pages 8 and 9, titled with a large, two-page illustration showing a young woman, Lysistrata Lee, or "Liz" standing in front of a large mechanical device like a train, shoving her back against it with her feet braced in front of her and creating a furrow of dirt as she is pushed along. She has her arms crossed defiantly in front of her chest and looks backwards with an irritated expression. She wears a utility jumpsuit and big work boots. Behind her is a backdrop of stars and simple landscape. The story is titled, "Unwillingly to School" by Pauline Ashwell, with a teaser reading, "Lz was sure to be an Influence; for the protection of Mankind, that young miss had to be trained!" The rest of the text where the story begins is cropped out to focus on the illustration. Below the illustration is smaller text reading, "Illustrated by Freas". End ID.]
Free to read on the Internet Archive :) I haven't actually read it yet but I'm sure if it's anything like The Lost Kafoozalum, the second story written with this character, it will be very entertaining.

Ashwell Gate: An Our Fantasy Town Setting by Gnome Made Games
Ashwell Gate is a setting book that presents a wondrous town. You’ll never want for inspiration in Ashwell Gate, since each of the town’s 70 locations is detailed down to the last room and person. Explore it with this book’s 14 interior maps, 7 character portraits, and hundreds of adventure hooks. Stop by the mill with its dragonscale roof and sentient millstone. Then pop over to the town library inside the hollow of a massive living tree. Take in a play at the outdoor amphitheater where the audiences are raucous and loud. Then take a dip in the Sainted Stews, the hot springs with an ancient mystery.
This content is 100% human-created with absolutely no A.I. involvement. In fact, over 40 writers contributed in one of the largest collaborations ever to create a book of this size.
Since the setting is system-agnostic, Ashwell Gate can go in virtually any fantasy setting. Or make it the center of a whole new world! With adventure hooks to keep your players entertained for several campaigns, they may never want to leave town! The old tannery is a front for the local thieves’ guild led by the enigmatic Mrs. White. Folks say there’s a monster in the ruins atop Hilltop Tower. And it’s anyone’s guess why the shopkeeper keeps ordering Goblin Demon Spit From Beyond.
- With full disclosure, I am a contributor and do earn royalties from purchases (0.66%) but I really just want to get it out there for the love of the project itself.

Why was she not surprised in the slightest?. . . He seemed extremely privileged, from what she understood. So this. . . Was not too odd to hear. The ignorance of the reality of humanity was unfortunate, but she figured she'd run into a few people like that before she eventually died. "I . . . See."
What was she going to do with this guy?
But the news of him wanting to look into space was a tad surprising, but a cheeky thought went into her mind moreso than anything. "I'm surprised you didn't invite the blondey to join ya'., given how she goes off at the mention of anything like that. Or is it a private moment that you wanted to keep to yourself?"
