The Ashoka Chakra: A Symbol of Dharma and Peace
In the center of India's national flag, the Ashoka Chakra is much more than just a design - it is a symbolism that reaches deep into Buddhism and Indian history. It got its name from Emperor Ashoka, the greatest ruler India has ever had in its history. The Ashoka Chakra depicts the Dharmachakra, or the "Wheel of Dharma," which refers to and represents the path of righteousness and the spread of Shakyamuni Buddha's teachings.
The story of Emperor Ashoka's transformation is one of the marvellous stories ever. He was overwhelmed by feelings of repentance at the excesses of bloodshed in the Kalinga War. It was then that he converted to Buddhism and pledged to give up violence and live for the principles of Dharma: compassion, truth, and non-violence. It was truly representative of this great change in Ashoka's life and his commitment to spreading the teachings of The Buddha in the Ashoka Chakra.
The wheel, with 24 spokes in the Ashoka Chakra, is symbolically important. Each spoke holds an attribute of Shakyamuni Buddha's teaching in a different way, like compassion, courage, patience, peace, and values that rule upon ethics and morals in life. These spokes further symbolize the moving wheels, incessant motion, and progress that Dharma brings into our lives just like time's endless cycles.
The Ashoka Chakra is embedded in the center of India's national flag. It, therefore, is an ever-reminding factor for the people concerning the ways of justice and righteousness and the ways of spiritual growth, which at the same time, is ever on the journey. It is a sort of eternal wheel of the law guiding the nation, showing that truth and nonviolence will ever hold a prime position in its very existence.
The Ashoka Chakra symbolizes an enriched heritage of India, its rich history, and has become like a lighthouse of hope, peace, and the noble teachings of Buddhism that inspire millions across continents.

HELLO
5, 10, 13, 15, 18, 19, 21, 29 from here
(i just realised that that's a lot so feel free to skip some/answer selectively if you want to do that!)
CAL HIIIII!!!!
(are you kidding ofcourse I'm gonna answer all of that, let's make a game out of it and see how long it takes me)(it's 15:05 when I started answering)
5. Favourite song in your native language
Can't think of one rnšŸ˜ The first one that came to mind is Venmadhi Venmadhi from Minnale because some guy was playing that on the bus yesterday. I think it's a lovely song, especially the third verse :)
10. Most enjoyable swear word in your native language
I don't really swear in TamilšŸ˜‚ I only use words like stupid/wastrel/dog/buffalo... y'know the most common ones lol
But, again, the first swear word that came to mind is *looks around to make sure no one's listening* "watha" - which is basically the Tamil equivalent of fuck - because one of my friends called another friend that this morning lmao
13. Does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions ot traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
Well there's so many but i generally think that doing rituals/ chanting slokas or vedas must be very strange to outsiders who aren't really used to that! Imagine being a white christian and you encounter a yagna happening with a giant fire, lots of huge shirtless men saying very weird words in their blaring voice, adding all kinds of different things into the fire, while surrounding people watched on... I'd be terrified šŸ˜‚šŸ’€
15. A saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get?
SO BEAUTIFUL. SO ELEGANT. JUST LOOKING LIKE A WOW.
18. Do you speak with a dialect of your native language?
Gosh I speak so many dialects - depending on who I'm talking with. There's what I consider the normal one, there's the one mixed with random English sentencesšŸ˜‚, there's the local chennai dialect for when I'm dealing with/in public or local vendorsšŸ’€, there's the tambrahm (wow it feels weird to say it like that) dialect because that's what I was raised on in mum's side of the family
19. Do you like your country's flag and/or emblem? What about the national anthem?
I've honestly never thought about this before...
Flag - šŸ‡®šŸ‡³ It's a good one, I like what it stands for. But no one would forget the struggle it would take when you were 6 years old and were asked to draw the national flag and you wouldn't remember how many spokes are there in the ashoka chakrašŸ˜ or even if you remembered, you wouldn't know how to divide them evenly throughout the circle... So much stress. 7/10
Emblem - it's a bit complex if you ask me but eh. It looks cool i guess. I like the phrase 'satyameva jayathe' ("truth alone triumphs" in Sanskrit) so there's that :p 5/10
National Anthem - I love it!! I like the picture it paints, listing out all those places! Only criticism is that it was very difficult for younger abi to sing the beginning because it was so very low and i struggled for a long timešŸ˜… 9/10
21. If you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be?
Aloo mutter gravy and methi rotišŸ‘
29. Does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
I was thinking really hard...before i realisedšŸ¤
MYSURU. WHY do you do that to your sambar??? It's nice, I'd be lying if I said it's bad, but how?????? How did you come to the decision "oh you know what. I'm gonna make this taste sweet. Yeah."??
We went to Mysore one time and had some sambar and do you know what happened, cal? My cousin threw up, that's what happened.
(it was because of the long uphill travel but the sambar definitely contributed :p)
What you lack in sambar, you make up for it with Udupi rasam so. I forgive youšŸ˜¤
(now the time is 15:55)

For the NUPS (Naruto Uzumaki Protection Squad) AU I like to think that itā€™s either Choji or Shikamaru that find out about Narutoā€™s massive chakra reserves. Iā€™m more particular to Choji finding out first tho and then bringing it up to Ashoka mainly because I like think that Chojiā€™s clan were allied with Uzumakiā€™s and while most of the clan doesnā€™t believe Naruto is truly one Choji still grew up on stories from his Dad and possibly Aunt that Uzumakis have such massive amounts of chakra that control has to start young or from the more chakra intense stages of chakra control. Also would Kakashi or Iruka or maybe Teuchi drop info bout sealing or is that also something Choji brings up and Kakashi/Iruka drop off supplies/scrolls/books about it and occasionally check in on their work? Also I love Naruto being able to recognize who was/is Anbu based off of their chakra and if heā€™s felt the chakra around him when younger. I also think Genma should drop in on this maybe via extra food or clothing/weapon specifics?
I love the idea of Choji noticing Narutoā€™s chakra and going to his family. I love the thought of them being like ā€œwell I canā€™t tell you about this one specific kid for Reasonsā„¢ļø but I did once know someone who had the same name (unrelated I swear)ā€ and giving him the ā€œCaring for an Uzumaki 101ā€ talk passed down through the generations that had be learned through trial, error and a great many explosions. I love the idea of quiet rebellion against a cruel system that allowed a little boy to be forgotten and abused and compliance only as far as what the written word implies and not a single bit more.
Naruto recognizing Kakashi as safe even if he doesnā€™t fully remember why. Doesnā€™t remember that heā€™s always slept better during thunderstorms because they felt like coming home. Doesnā€™t remember that the howling of wolves was once a lullaby. Doesnā€™t remember, it trusts all the same. (Then he sees an ANBU walk by that feels incredibly familiar and gets it.)
Genma would love this pack of demons. He could do without them calling him ā€œOral Fixation-sanā€ but the little shits are hilarious. He comes bearing gifts and really if he befriends the little Nara heir itā€™s not his fault that the kid is attached at the hip with the very little boy heā€™s supposed to ignore. It would be rude not to include all of the kids friends after all.

Hey sorry pretty random question.
You must have seen some Indians try to make efforts in forming solidarity with Roma in Europe. I remember reblogging one such post from you and being really happy about it. But I read more about it recently. And it seems to be meddled with nationalist politics-
https://thewire.in/diplomacy/the-modi-government-and-rss-are-keen-to-claim-the-roma-as-indians-and-hindus
I also feel that saying Romani people are actually just Indian diaspora (even though the economic gap is huge between NRIs and Roma in Europe and therefore will not prove useful to lump you in with them) on "foreign lands" gives Europeans more leverage to add xenophobic styled framework to their anti Roma racism. But obviously this is more of your concern than ours and you probably have read more. So what are your opinions?
Hi!
Yup, I partially agree with you. I don't know much about Indian politics but a lot of the times I've looked into it I've been left with a feeling that this might be a nationalistic move.
I am saying 'partially' because I do think that a lot of Indian-Romani relations are genuinely formed out of solidarity. For example, the Romani flag looks like this:
Tumblr media
It was adopted at the first Romani World Congress, in 1971; the red wheel is explicitly based on the Ashoka Chakra.
There are Indian scholars that specialized in Romani studies during the 20th century: Weer Rajendra Rishi and Janardhan Singh Pathania, whose learning book on Romani language starts with this:
Tumblr media
His book features letters he exchanged with Romani people for the making of his book. On the other hand, it is in my experience very common for Romani people to be interested in India, Indian history and Indian cultures, we are way more open to it than other Europeans. I've also seen a few of the most well-off Romani associations organizing trips to India. All of these are examples of true solidarity to me.
However when it comes to how it's handled in politics I am a bit on edge. I had come across a similar article to the one you sent me, also saying that Modi's External Affairs Minister wants to recognize Roma as part of the Indian diaspora. And because I am not so well-versed in Indian politics I didn't really know what conclusions to draw from this. I remember wondering if those Indian politicians wanted to keep Roma on the side just in case the way Roma are treated becomes relevant in discussions between Indian and European countries, but nothing like this has happened yet. The article you sent me goes into more details though and I can clearly see the nationalist edge in it.
What I've noticed is that some of the Roma who get deep into the Romani-Indian connection can get a little too much intense about it (because we don't have a flag emoji, a lot of Roma use the Indian flag emoji to talk about Romani issues; some Roma will wear Indian clothing or jewellery; some Roma will even call themselves Indian), granted it's not criminal to do any of this, but sometimes it seems like they are getting rid of their identity as Roma to present themselves as Indian and that's weird. Some Roma have also converted to Hinduism to reconnect with India (which is stupid because not all Indians are Hindu) and some also give their opinion on Indian politics, which feels weird. I also heard some Roma saying they hoped we could get Indian citizenship or something lol. I think Indian politicians could realistically get some Roma behind Indian nationalist politics.
As for how it plays into European anti-Roma racism, I have heard of far-right protests in Czech Republic and in Hungary saying we should be deported to India. Some Neo-Nazis support that idea, like this far-right Czech guy:
But I think it's still a fringe idea among the European far-right, most of them don't have one coherent goal on how to treat Roma, a lot will just say we should 'leave the country' (without specifying where should we go) or we should just be shot. I don't think saying Roma are part of the Indian diaspora will give more leverage to European xenophobia because European xenophobia against Roma is already very high; if anything it will transform the way it's expressed but it will not worsen it nor will it alleviate it.
I had talked a bit about some of these issues here!

What is the significance of Dharma chakras 3 parts?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Dharma Chakra is believed to be one of the oldest symbols in Buddhism. It is used to identify Buddhism around the world.
Along with the above parts, the Dharma Chakra has different spokes numbers like 4, 8, 10, 12, and 24. According to these numbers the significance changes.
Four spokes, which is rare stand for the Four Noble Truths. Eight spokes represent the Eightfold Path. Ten spokes represent the ten directions. Twelve spokes stand for the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination.
Last but not least, twenty-four spokes represent the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination plus the reversing of the Twelves Links and liberation from samsara. This Chakra is also called the ā€˜Ashoka Chakraā€™.

Tiranga Game A Celebration of Unity and Heritage
Tumblr media
The Tiranga Game is a dynamic and engaging activity that resonates deeply with the spirit of India, symbolized by its national flag. The term "Tiranga" translates to "tricolor" in Hindi, reflecting the three horizontal stripes of the Indian flag: saffron, white, and green. This game is more than just a recreational pursuit; it is a celebration of cultural pride, patriotism, and community spirit. This article explores the origins, significance, rules, and broader impact of the Tiranga Game, highlighting its role in fostering national identity and unity.
The Symbolism of the Tiranga
The Indian national flag is a powerful emblem of the country's journey towards freedom and self-determination. Each color in the flag holds significant meaning: saffron symbolizes courage and sacrifice, white represents peace and truth, and green stands for faith and chivalry. At the center of the flag is the Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel that signifies the eternal wheel of law and dharma.
The Tiranga serves as a daily reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals during the struggle for independence. When the flag is hoisted, it evokes a sense of pride, responsibility, and patriotism among citizens. The Tiranga Game transforms these values into a fun and interactive format, encouraging participants to engage with their heritage while fostering a sense of belonging.
Historical Context and Origins of the Tiranga Game
The precise origins of the Tiranga Game are not well-documented, but its rise in popularity can be traced back to the growing emphasis on patriotic activities during national festivals, particularly Independence Day and Republic Day. Schools, community organizations, and local clubs have adopted the game as a means to engage people, especially the youth, in activities that promote national pride.
The Tiranga Game serves multiple purposes: it educates participants about India's history and the values represented by the flag, while also providing a platform for creative expression and physical activity. Over the years, it has evolved into a beloved tradition that helps deepen individualsā€™ connections to their national identity.
The Format of the Tiranga Game
The Tiranga Game is highly adaptable and can be tailored to fit various settings, from schoolyards to community festivals. The primary objective is to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and cultural appreciation while celebrating the spirit of unity among participants.
Basic Rules
Team Formation: Participants are typically divided into three teams, each representing one of the colors of the national flag: saffron, white, and green. This division fosters a sense of camaraderie and belonging.
Game Variations: The Tiranga Game can incorporate a variety of activities, such as:
Relay Races: Teams compete in races, passing a baton or flag to one another.
Obstacle Courses: Participants navigate through challenges that test their agility, speed, and teamwork.
Cultural Quizzes: Teams answer questions related to Indian history, culture, and the significance of the flag.
Art and Craft Activities: Teams can engage in creating art that represents their interpretation of the Tiranga, fostering creativity.
Cultural Attire: Participants are encouraged to wear clothing that reflects the colors of the flag. This adds to the festive atmosphere and reinforces the theme of unity and national pride.
Scoring and Prizes: Points are awarded based on performance in various activities. Celebrating winners at the end of the event emphasizes that while competition is important, the true spirit of the game lies in participation and unity.
The Role of Creativity
One of the most exciting aspects of the Tiranga Game is its potential for creativity. Participants can design their own activities or incorporate local traditions, allowing for a rich variety of cultural expressions. This creativity not only enhances the enjoyment of the event but also helps preserve regional customs and practices, making each game a unique reflection of the local community.
The Significance of the Tiranga Game
Fostering Unity and Inclusion
In a country as diverse as India, the Tiranga Game serves as a powerful unifying force. It brings together individuals from different backgrounds, languages, and cultures under a shared identity. The game promotes teamwork and collaboration, nurturing a spirit of inclusivity and harmony. By participating in the Tiranga Game, individuals can transcend their differences and celebrate their common identity as citizens of India.
Educational Value
The Tiranga Game is not only entertaining but also educational. Through quizzes and challenges, participants learn about the significance of the Indian flag, its history, and the values it represents. This educational component reinforces the importance of patriotism and civic responsibility, particularly among younger generations. By learning about their nationā€™s history and cultural heritage, participants are encouraged to take pride in their identity.
Promoting Physical Fitness and Well-being
Physical activity is essential for maintaining health and well-being. The Tiranga Game encourages participants to engage in active play, fostering a love for sports and outdoor activities. This emphasis on physical fitness contributes not only to improved health but also to mental well-being. Engaging in social interactions during the game enhances mood and fosters positive relationships among participants.
Celebrating Cultural Heritage
The Tiranga Game is a vibrant celebration of Indiaā€™s rich cultural heritage. By incorporating traditional games, folk music, and dance, participants gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultural landscape of the nation. This celebration of heritage is crucial in an age where globalization often threatens to dilute local customs and traditions. The Tiranga Game allows communities to come together, share their cultural expressions, and promote a sense of belonging.
The Future of the Tiranga Game
As the Tiranga Game continues to grow in popularity, numerous opportunities for its expansion and evolution arise. Schools and organizations can introduce annual tournaments that incorporate technology and social media to reach a broader audience. By sharing experiences online, the game can inspire more people to participate and engage with their national identity.
International Recognition
The potential for the Tiranga Game to gain international recognition is promising. As a symbol of unity and cultural pride, it could serve as a model for similar initiatives in other countries, promoting peace and cooperation through sports and cultural exchange. By participating in international events, the Tiranga Game can showcase Indiaā€™s diverse culture and heritage to the world.
Environmental Awareness
Incorporating elements of environmental awareness into the Tiranga Game can enhance its relevance in todayā€™s world. Activities focused on sustainability, such as tree planting or recycling challenges, could align the game with global efforts to combat climate change. This holistic approach would make the Tiranga Game not only a celebration of national pride but also a platform for promoting responsible citizenship and environmental stewardship.
Conclusion
The Tiranga Game is more than just a recreational activity; it embodies the spirit of Indiaā€”its history, culture, and values. By engaging individuals of all ages in a celebration of unity and heritage, it fosters a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of this diverse nation. The game serves as a powerful reminder of the bonds that tie us together as citizens of India, inspiring participants to carry forward the values represented by the national flag.
As we continue to embrace and promote the Tiranga Game, we honor our past while paving the way for a future filled with shared dreams, aspirations, and the enduring spirit of togetherness. Whether played in local parks, schoolyards, or large public gatherings, the Tiranga Game remains a dynamic celebration of unity, patriotism, and cultural heritage. It encourages us to come together, celebrate our differences, and foster a collective identity rooted in pride and responsibility toward our nation. The spirit of the Tiranga will live on in every heart, guiding us toward a brighter, united future.

Creative Ways That Drone Shows Can Be Used To Celebrate Holidays & Special Events
Drone shows have become the go-to choice for visually stunning and tech-forward celebrations. In India, where festivals, holidays, and special events are always grand, drone shows bring a modern twist to the cultural heritage. If you're looking to up your celebration game, here's how drones can make your event unforgettable!
New Year Celebration: A New Spin On Fireworks
Fireworks have been a New Year staple for ages, but it's time to embrace a more eco-friendly option: drone shows! Unlike fireworks, which release harmful chemicals and create noise pollution, drone shows are silent, reusable, and leave zero environmental damage. They offer a dazzling, choreographed display that can be customized to create unique shapes, colors, and even messages in the sky.
Independence Day: Patriotic Drone Formations
Drone shows are perfect for Independence Day celebrations. They can create the national flag, Ashoka Chakra, and even form inspiring slogans like "Jai Hind" in the sky. These displays can evoke a sense of pride like never before. Picture a silent, moving display of our tricolour flying high in the sky. Now thatā€™s how you make an Independence Day memorable!
Ganesh Chaturthi: A Divine Light Show
Ganesh Chaturthi is all about devotion and larger-than-life processions. How about adding drones to the mix? Drone shows can highlight Lord Ganeshaā€™s idols, form the sacred Om symbol, or even simulate the traditional visarjan process in the sky! It's a respectful, modern twist that enhances the spiritual vibe while being kind to the environment.
Weddings And Grand Celebrations: Skyā€™s The Limit
Indian weddings are already full of opulence, but a drone show can add that extra magic touch. Picture your wedding vows written in the sky with glowing drones or a heart-shaped formation floating above the venue. These are moments your guests will never forget. Drones can form personalized messages for special events like birthdays or anniversaries, making every celebration feel unique and larger-than-life!
