Hey y'all, it's that time of year again - reblogging my own post to spread awareness because once again my home is on fire again yeehaw. (Waiting to see if there's going to be evac orders for us because it's not looking good). For anyone traveling to the interior - especially the Sicamous/Anstey-Seymour Arms/Turtle Valley areas - please just do not. Currently the Okanagan area, Ashcroft and surrounding, and throughout Jasper (and surrounding areas) are experiencing extreme fire conditions - many people are being evacuated from their homes and are unsure of their future. If you're planning on vacationing in British Columbia this summer, please be fire aware - your actions do have consequences and that cigarette butt might be trash to you, but it could be the spark that starts something tragic. Fire bans are in place to save homes, save lives, and save our environment. Keep that in mind when you decide a campfire with the kiddos is more important to you then the area you're "visiting". A place you choose to vacation at is still someone else's home.

If you're planning on travelling to the Shuswap/Okanagan right now for 'vacation', then please, do not. You are not welcome right now. Keep traffic as much to a minimum as you possibly can while locals and families try and figure out their next steps to safety and security.
