1. Asha doesn’t necessarily have powers, meaning she’s not connected to the speedforce enough to run like her mother, but she has the mind of a speedster. She
2. I like to think their kids—Jameson, Henry, Gracie, and Dahlia— aren’t heroes in the traditional sense. They’re more…..reconnaissance. Use the Wayne name to get into places, Dahlia and the boys using their disabilities (Dahlia’s completely blind, Jameson and Henry are deaf) to make people underestimate them, and Gracie acting as a diplomat. Don’t underestimate them.
They walk into a party like this, making their various partners weak in the knees.
3. Jason’s queer. He doesn’t care about labels 😂
4. No, mostly because I haven’t read a while it on them

What are some hints that a famine is about to occur in Westeros? I’ve read theories about it but I haven’t picked up any hints about it apparently. Could Sansa, in a grand humanitarian bid, use the grain Littlefinger has been gathering to help starving people when she goes North?
Ahh yes. Westeros might have just had the longest summer in living memory, but the War of the Five Kings has done a neat job of ruining preparations for winter … and with this winter looking to be particularly fierce, we’re bound to see quite a bit of famine savaging the land. (Got long; more under the cut)
Jaime’s arc in the FeastDance really underlines the ravages of the War of the Five Kings on the Westerosi food supply:
There were still cows and sheep to be seen near the city; apples on the trees and berries in the brush, stands of barleycorn and oats and winter wheat, wayns and oxcarts on the road. Farther afield, things would not be so rosy.
Snow in the riverlands. If it was snowing here, it could well be snowing on Lannisport as well, and on King’s Landing. Winter is marching south, and half our granaries are empty. Any crops still in the fields were doomed. There would be no more plantings, no more hopes of one last harvest. He found himself wondering what his father would do to feed the realm, before he remembered that Tywin Lannister was dead.
As Jaime Lannister and his escort wound through the rolling hills into the vale, little remained of the fields and farms and orchards that had once surrounded Raventree—only mud and ashes, and here and there the blackened shells of homes and mills. Weeds and thorns and nettles grew in that wasteland, but nothing that could be called a crop. Everywhere Jaime looked he saw his father’s hand, even in the bones they sometimes glimpsed beside the road. Most were sheep bones, but there were horses too, and cattle, and now and again a human skull, or a headless skeleton with weeds poking up through its rib cage.
He’s only going through the Riverlands, of course, but everywhere the war has touched has suffered as a result. Asha notes the same in the North as a result of the Greyjoys’ invasion:
On the south side of the castle, moss grew thick upon the palisade and crept halfway up the towers. To east and west were empty fields. Oats and barley had been growing there when Asha took the castle, only to be crushed underfoot during her attack. A series of hard frosts had killed the crops they’d planted afterward, leaving only mud and ash and wilted, rotting stalks.
Nor has Westeros seen the end of war, between Euron’s eldritch apocalypse coming to the Reach and Aegon’s invasion through the Stormlands, so the stresses of war on food stores will only grow worse. Indeed, Lady Mertyns notes this problem offhand in the “Arianne II” sample chapter:
“We are no thieves,” said Mudd. “We’re foragers.”
“Did you buy all that food down in the yard?”
“We foraged it,” said Mudd. “The smallfolk can grow more.[”]
“No one’s been doing any raping,” insisted Young John Mudd. “Connington won’t have that. We follow orders.”
Chain nodded. “Some girls was persuaded, might be.”
“The same way our smallfolk were persuaded to give you all their crops. Melons or maidenheads, it’s all the same to your sort.[”]
Even those places that have not seen direct fighting have suffered, because of the problems Alys Karstark points out to Jon:
“My lady, how do things stand at Karhold with your food stores?”
“Not well.” Alys sighed. “My father took so many of our men south with him that only the women and young boys were left to bring the harvest in. Them, and the men too old or crippled to go off to war. Crops withered in the fields or were pounded into the mud by autumn rains. And now the snows are come. This winter will be hard. Few of the old people will survive it, and many children will perish as well.”
War has not just demanded the food already stored away in preparation for winter, to feed the armies of the lords; it has also negatively affected the ability of those left behind to gather in more crops to offset those losses. It’s a double blow to the Westerosi, which can only mean terrible consequences in TWOW.
Moreover, as people have fled the threat of death and sought shelter with better-provisioned hosts, the stress on normal food stores is going to be that much more - and that’s not counting the particular fierceness of the coming winter.
The huge oak-and-iron doors of the Old Mint had always been closed when Davos had been in Fishfoot Yard before, but today they stood open. Inside he glimpsed hundreds of women, children, and old men, huddled on the floor on piles of furs. Some had little cookfires going.
Davos stopped beneath the colonnade and traded a halfpenny for an apple. “Are people living in the Old Mint?” he asked the apple seller.
“Them as have no other place to live. Smallfolk from up the White Knife, most o’ them. Hornwood’s people too. With that Bastard o’ Bolton running loose, they all want to be inside the walls. I don’t know what his lordship means to do with all o’ them. Most turned up with no more'n the rags on their backs.”
Jon had just been thinking that all the meat in the world surrounded them. You know nothing, Jon Snow. “How so? This seems a deal of food to me.”
“It was a long summer. The harvests were bountiful, the lords generous. We had enough laid by to see us through three years of winter. Four, with a bit of scrimping. Now, though, if we must go on feeding all these king’s men and queen’s men and wildlings … Mole’s Town alone has a thousand useless mouths, and still they come. Three more turned up yesterday at the gates, a dozen the day before. It cannot go on. Settling them on the Gift, that’s well and good, but it is too late to plant crops. We’ll be down to turnips and pease porridge before the year is out. After that we’ll be drinking the blood of our own horses.”
White Harbor is a bustling port, and as Bowen Marsh notes, the Wall has been well-provisioned, albeit for only a three- to four-year winter. They still have stores, albeit now will much more added stress. Other places, though, have not fared so well:
Winterfell’s storerooms and cellar vaults were empty. A long supply train had come with Bolton and his friends of Frey up through the Neck, Lady Dustin had brought food and fodder from Barrowton, and Lord Manderly had arrived well provisioned from White Harbor … but the host was large. With so many mouths to feed, their stores could not last for long.
Winterfell has long helped its vassals and smallfolk survive the winter, with the winter town outside its walls providing shelter and provisions for those unable to survive the harsh conditions elsewhere. Now, with Winterfell depleted, there will be nothing to give the winter town when the really hard snows begin to fall - bad news indeed for those who have traditionally relied up it to live.
All of this leads to the vulgar but true conclusion Harwood Stout’s cook states in ADWD:
The riders had been sixteen days on the hunt, with only hard bread and salt beef to eat, aside from the occasional stolen kid, so that night Lord Ramsay commanded that a feast be laid to celebrate his return to Barrowton. Their host, a grizzled one-armed petty lord by the name of Harwood Stout, knew better than to refuse him, though by now his larders must be well nigh exhausted. Reek had heard Stout’s servants muttering at how the Bastard and his men were eating through the winter stores. “He’ll bed Lord Eddard’s little girl, they say,” Stout’s cook complained when she did not know that Reek was listening, “but we’re the ones who’ll be fucked when the snows come, you mark my words.”
Oh, and there’s one more thing … cannibalism. Cannibalism is rampant in the FeastDance, from the ominous stories of Skagos remembered by Sam and Davos (the latter now on his way there):
Some songs said the Skaggs were cannibals; supposedly their warriors ate the hearts and livers of the men they slew. In ancient days, the Skagosi had sailed to the nearby isle of Skane, seized its women, slaughtered its men, and ate them on a pebbled beach in a feast that lasted for a fortnight. Skane remained unpeopled to this day.
For half a heartbeat Davos considered asking Wyman Manderly to send him back to the Wolf’s Den, to Ser Bartimus with his tales and Garth with his lethal ladies. In the Den even prisoners ate porridge in the morning. But there were other places in this world where men were known to break their fast on human flesh.
To the “sow” Coldhands finds for Bran and Co. as they travel to the three-eyed crow:
Meera Reed was turning a chunk of raw red flesh above the flames, letting it char and spit. “Just in time,” she said. Bran rubbed his eyes with the heel of his hand and wriggled backwards against the wall to sit. “You almost slept through supper. The ranger found a sow.”
“What happened to the men? The foes behind us?”
“They will not trouble you.”
“Who were they? Wildlings?”
Meera turned the meat to cook the other side. Hodor was chewing and swallowing, muttering happily under his breath. Only Jojen seemed aware of what was happening as Coldhands turned his head to stare at Bran. “They were foes.”
Men of the Night’s Watch. “You killed them. You and the ravens. Their faces were all torn, and their eyes were gone.” Coldhands did not deny it. “They were your brothers. I saw. The wolves had ripped their clothes up, but I could still tell. Their cloaks were black. Like your hands.”
To the desperation of Stannis’ men on the long march to Winterfell (with a particular ominous thought from Asha):
And there was no food, beyond their failing horses, fish taken from the lakes (fewer every day), and whatever meagre sustenance their foragers could find in these cold, dead woods. With the king’s knights and lords claiming the lion’s share of the horsemeat, little and less remained for the common men. Small wonder then that they had started eating their own dead.
Asha had been as horrified as the rest when the She-Bear told her that four Peasebury men had been found butchering one of the late Lord Fell’s, carving chunks of flesh from his thighs and buttocks as one of his forearms turned upon a spit, but she could not pretend to be surprised. The four were not the first to taste human flesh during this grim march, she would wager—only the first to be discovered.
To the suffering of the Astapori reported back to Daenerys:
Suffering was the only thing they did not lack. “There is scarcely a horse or mule left, though many rode from Astapor,” Marselen reported to her. “They’ve eaten every one, Your Grace, along with every rat and scavenger dog that they could catch. Now some have begun to eat their own dead.”
“Man must not eat the flesh of man,” said Aggo.
“It is known,” agreed Rahkaro. “They will be cursed.”
(And, though not done out of desperation of course, the jolly vengeance of Wyman Manderly as he served the flesh of Rhaegar, Symond, and Jared Frey.)
Often starving and desperate, people have already turned to cannibalism to survive, and winter is only going to get worse in the last two books. Men will be lucky if, as Bowen Marsh gloomily predicted, they have to eat the flesh of their own horses. More likely, we’re going to see a lot more people feasting on their own dead.

Hearing Loss Remains a Significant Problem at Work
Today's post is shared from the cdc.gov:
"Noise-induced hearing loss is a significant, often unrecognized health problem among U.S. adults. Discussions between patients and personal health care providers about hearing loss symptoms, tests, and ways to protect hearing might help with early diagnosis of hearing loss and provide opportunities to prevent harmful noise exposures. Avoiding prolonged exposure to loud environments and using personal hearing protection devices can prevent noise-induced hearing loss."
Noise-induced hearing loss is a significant health problem among U.S. adults, is more prevalent among males, and increases with age. Persons with auditory damage caused by noise frequently do not recognize it; one in four U.S. adults who reported excellent or good hearing had an audiometric notch. Among persons who reported work exposure to loud noise, one third had a bilateral or unilateral notch.
Noise exposure is the second most common cause of acquired hearing loss (after aging). An estimated 24% of hearing loss in the United States has been attributed to workplace exposures. Noise exposure is associated with numerous adverse health effects, and reducing noise exposure is likely to improve health. A recent study suggested that reducing environmental noise exposure might save lives by decreasing the prevalence of cardiovascular heart disease (10). Avoiding exposure to loud environments and effective use of personal hearing protection devices (earplugs or earmuffs) have been shown to prevent hearing loss. Evidence also exists that stronger occupational regulation leads to decreased noise levels . Persons who already have impaired hearing from noise exposure can benefit from clinical rehabilitation, such as amplification through hearing aids, learning to read lips, and other compensation strategies. Use of technology, such as smart phone apps to measure sound level, provides new ways of informing decisions and actions.
Noise reduction and avoidance can prevent hearing loss or slow its progression. This can be accomplished by avoiding high volumes on personal listening devices; reducing listening time to high volumes of music; taking breaks from exposure; requesting lower volumes in public settings (restaurants, movie theaters); using quieter products (e.g., household appliances, power tools, recreational vehicles); reducing equipment noise by replacing worn or unbalanced machine parts; moving as far as possible from the loudest sound-producing source, such as loudspeakers or cannons at college stadiums; and using hearing protection devices ). Hearing protectors need to fit well to reduce noise exposure effectively.
Noise exposure at younger ages needs particular attention. Damage to hearing accumulates over time so that hazardous exposure that begins earlier in life has the potential to be more damaging as persons age. The high prevalence of audiometric notches (one in five) among persons aged 20–29 years suggests that early life interventions need to be developed.
Hearing screenings can help reduce delays in diagnosis and improve access to hearing aids for those with hearing loss, thus improving health-related quality of life, yet a 2014 report found that only 46.0% of adults who had any trouble hearing had seen a health care professional about their hearing in the past 5 years (5). Hearing loss often progresses for years before being self-perceived or diagnosed. Talking to one’s personal health care provider about hearing loss symptoms, tests, and ways to protect hearing, might support early diagnosis and access to hearing rehabilitation if needed.
During routine exams, primary care providers can examine patients’ hearing; ask about patients’ hearing and noise exposures and inform them about the benefits of hearing protection; monitor patients with hearing loss symptoms, recommend or provide hearing tests when indicated; and counsel patients with hearing loss. Studies indicate, however, that 40%–77% of primary care providers have not asked about or screened for hearing loss. Patients reporting hearing-related symptoms or risk factors such as noise exposure need to be referred for objective hearing assessment., Although there is currently a lack of data to support the benefits of regular hearing screening in adults aged >50 years, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) recommends that adults be screened at least every decade through age 50 years and every 3 years thereafter. Healthy People 2020 includes objectives to increase the proportion of adults who have had a hearing examination in the past 5 years and to increase the number referred by their health care provider for hearing evaluation and treatment.
Although there are no federal regulations regarding exposure to nonoccupational noise, a 1974 Environmental Protections Agency report identified 70 dB over 24 hours (75 dB over 8 hours) as the average exposure limit for intermittent environmental noise. World Health Organization (WHO) 1999 Guidelines for Community Noise recommend avoiding noise exposure levels that exceed 70 dB(A) over a 24-hour period or 85 dB(A) over a 1-hour period. CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has established an 8-hour, time-weighted average 85 dB(A) recommended exposure limit to protect most workers from developing hearing loss from noise exposure over a 40-year career. However, at that sound pressure level [85 dB(A) time-weighted average], approximately 8% of workers could still develop hearing loss, and thus NIOSH recommends that hearing protection be worn whenever noise levels exceed 85 dB(A), regardless of the length of exposure.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and WHO are raising awareness about noise-induced hearing loss. DHHS is collecting data on hearing status and risk factors, as well as developing guidelines on hearing aids. WHO is developing guidelines on noise exposure. Other public entities, such as states and counties, partner with community groups to reduce noisy environments and use evidence to inform policies that decrease noise exposures. Other ways to reduce environmental noise exposure include using sound-absorbent materials in office buildings and public venues, erecting highway barriers, and passing noise ordinances. Managers and owners of public venues can decrease the loudest sound levels at those locations to help decrease noise exposure.

Does the league ever find out about asha’s existence ?
The League of Assassins?
Unfortunately yes
I think they did kidnap her as a toddler, but made sure it was public. As a way to limit what certain heroes (the Bats) could do with the public eye on them.
Yeah
Omega committed a few war crimes getting her back, ESPECIALLY Jai.

Hi!! Can we have a little story of Asha and his parents. I love to see Sami being happy and having a loving family. 🥺 Also, would Asha like to have a brother or a sister?
I’m not sure if you meant Asha and her grandparents or with her parents so I’m going with the latter! And I’ll let the story answer that second question 😉😉😉
————————
When deciding on their honeymoon, others thought they’d have booked once in a lifetime trip spanning months. Or gone to some exotic destination costing thousands. But that’s never been their style. Why go to some far off place to be surrounded by strangers, when they just wanted some peace?
Two weeks in a cabin, hours from villains and schedules and responsibilities. Well….at least for the first week. They’d enjoyed their first days of marriage, just the pair of them. Enjoying the morning sunshine, Damian painting while Irey read. Walks in the afternoon to explore the forest. Cooking dinner together and falling into bed.
But now, two days into the second week, they sit together in the shallow bank of the creek, watching their daughter carefully explore the water. The two year old crouches to examine something in the water.
What a little marvel their Asha is. Dark curls bunched into pigtails, shining green eyes taking in the world around her with a determined curiosity. Irey had laughed at the animal covered wet suit her husband put on her that morning, but the little girl kept pointing to the drawings and naming them.
“She looks more like you every day,” Damian muses.
Irey’s brilliant laugh warms him to the bone, “I still think she looks like you.”
“Maybe in color, but she has your clever mind,” he kisses her temple, getting a splash of water in the face.
“You, Mr. Wayne, are a charmer.” She teases. “You angling for another baby?”
“Baba! Baba!” Asha toddles over, something grasped in her hand. Damian blinks a few times at his wife’s joke, then gives their daughter his full attention.
“Yes, my love, show me.”
Asha proudly shows off the rock she found. Irey’s heart beats faster watching how engaged Damian is with her. The way he asks her questions and nods as she answers. Damian helps her put it in her ladybug bucket, offering a little high five.
“Hey, Lightning Bug?” Irey coos, pulling Asha into her arms, “What do you think about a baby brother or sister?”
There are few things the little girl does that’s very clearly from one parent. But that scowl? Oh that’s purely her father.
“I the baby.”
Damian grins, “You are our baby. But what if mama and I want another.”
“I enough.”
“Yes, but—”
Asha cuts her mother off with a hand to her mouth, “Mama. I the baby. No moah.”
In a flash, Irey has Asha scooped up, making her squeal with tickles and raspberries blown into her cubby cheek. Damian laughs as he watches, loving the easy way his loves laugh.
“Baba! Baba! Sab me!” Asha reaches for him, still giggling. He does take her from his wife, only to attack her with his own kisses. Asha giggles turn into belly laughs, “No moah!”
“No more kisses?” He asks, never one to push their daughter’s boundaries. But that just gave the toddler the chance to attack him with slobbery kisses of her own. Caught off guard he falls back into the shallow water, laugh bouncing off the rocks.
“Oh, I love our little family.” Irey says, leaning in to kiss her husband.

What is the middle bat kids fashion style like
Gracie has always been a girlie girl. She loves her dresses and skirts, and the color yellow looks so good on here. But she loves darker eye make up to accent her blue eyes
Dahlia has a very comfortable sense of style. She likes soft tees, jeans, sturdy boots, and a jacket. When she goes outside, she has a pair of aviator sunglasses she wears to protect her eyes and a cane. She loves red because of her Papa….and Gracie helps her find the best snarky tees
Asha’s style is stylish but comfortable. She likes darker colors, a splash of green. Her hair usually down, but she will put it in space buns or braids to keep it out of her face.
Again, the boys are both very tall and strapping, Henry more bulky than his brother. Both boys prefer to wear comfortable clothes day to day, but when they dress up? Handsome Mofos
Henry is smaller bottoms (think bike shorts/work out bottoms) and baggy tops. occasionally the kind of baggy tops that are cropped in a way that you only know when he lifts his arm:
Steph bought him that hoodie
Jameson is a short/tight top, baggy pants. He doesn’t care if people can see his Dexcom.

what are the body types of the middle bats? who is curvy? who has a lean build?
So, lemme start with the boys—Jason was the sperm donor for both boys. Cass and Steph wanted someone in the family they trusted, and both felt a connection with Jason. Plus asking Tim and Dick felt weird, Duke wasn’t comfortable with it, and Damian was a minor (who they wouldn’t have asked anyway). They preferred a known donor for medical reasons and Jason was honored.
That being said—the boys both got his height (6’). Their moms are 5’5” (I checked).
Jameson is broad shouldered but lean. Like. It’s muscle but he just is not very bulky. HENRY on the other hand? Built like a line backer, so muscular but not ripped. Again, with their training, it’s healthy weight but boy can take a hit and not move.
(Please imagine them at 17/15, getting scolded at by their mothers)
Now for the girls—
Gracie is the tallest of the three, muscles and curves in the right places.
Dahlia is more bottom heavy in terms of body shape, has a good amount of muscles from her training.
Asha, having her mother’s metabolism, is lean and petite. Like she’s 5’4, seems skinny as a rail, but it’s all just muscle.

Did Damian come back to life before Asha was born or after
He came back the day she was born. Like within a few hours.
But he didn’t meet her or know Irey was pregnant until a few days later.
Since Asha is their only child, the knowledge he missed her birth guts him every time he thinks about it

Where do the middle bats live and what school
Do they go to
The girls all live in Gotham, they all attended Gotham Academy.
Henry and Jameson moved to Bludhaven with their moms when they’re little. They attend a private school for deaf kids, which they love. They go from kindergarten to 12th grade

How do the middle bats choose to use their inheritance / trust fund
Dahlia would invest in a nonprofit aimed at helping renovate homes/apartments more accessible for disabled residents.
Gracie invests hers, making bank and donating most that money into arts and STEM programs. Especially programs for low income families.
Jameson opens a Co-Op, different shops selling handmade wares. They teach classes, have open mikes, and it’s a place people feel…accepted and safe.
Henry buys foreclosed homes, personally helps crews fix them up, and rents them for way under market value.
Asha helps different nonprofits aimed to keep animals out of kill shelters.
They give back to their cities. Like they have enough to live very comfortably, but they were raised to give back to those in need.

Do asha and jai ‘s kids have powers
Short answer—Asha doesn’t, the dolls have them essentially since birth, Luke’s develop when he’s a teenager.
Long answer—
Dolls have full powers basically since Birth
Asha doesn’t have the superspeed, she does have an accelerated healing factor (not to her Mama’s level, but better than her Baba’s) and her mental processing is definitely to speedster levels. So technically no powers, but she has some other benefits. Oh and her Mama’s overactive metabolism
With Luke, everyone figured he didn’t have powers like his sisters, which he was never made to feel bad about. Jai might have spent time training his sisters, but he got more one on one time with his mom. Then when he’s about 16, his best friend, Skylar, is kidnapped (her family is insanely rich so it was a ransom situation). They pushed her off a building and something activated in him. He’s had crush on Skylar since they were little, and they’ve been completely inseparable, Jai thinks it’s because she’s his lightning rod. So he eventually develops powers

Was Asha a accidental pregnancy
Call Damian and Irey the Rosses because Asha was a Happy Little Accident 😂😂
They had her at 19 (after Damian’s death and before his revival) but they love her so so deeply it’s almost not funny. She’s their whole world and they wouldn’t have made it through that period of time without her

would asha ever become ra's al ghul and use the league for good ( kinda how Damian planned to use the league for good when he was Ra's and Terry McGinnis was batman)
No, that’s not her journey. I can understand why people would think or what her to be the one to do that, but it is not her responsibility to fix.
Let me be very clear—Damian never over exaggerated what he went through to her. Never forbade her from doing it if that’s what SHE CHOSE. He has always just given her the information he has, answered her questions, and given her the tools and space to make her own choices.
If she became Ra’s Al Ghul, he would be heartbroken, absolutely, but he would help her.
That’s not what she wants though. She wants to be Robin. She wants to be a veterinarian. She wants to flirt with her girlfriend, argue with her cousins, make art, and just be Asha. Because her parents made her proud to be Just Asha
