“Tori?”

The King and Queen’s bedroom door opened with a small squeak. Asgore stepped inside, a piping-hot cup of tea and a saucer balancing in his large palm. The room was a dreary gray in color, lacking the happier color scheme it once had back when…Asgore felt a twinge of pain in his heart. He didn’t dare think of the incident. Not now. Not when his beloved wife needed him.

The monstress in question was standing in the center of the room, facing the macaroni Temmie doll art that had been taped to the wall months ago. She was still and silent; Asgore was unable to sense any sort of emotion from her. There was no crying, no deep, rage-induced breathing…honestly, this hollow shell of the once cheery and loving Monster Queen filled Asgore with a sense of dread. But the male boss monster forced himself to step closer to her. Toriel was his wife, and no matter what, he would not let her go through this period of mourning alone.

“Tori…” Asgore spoke again, his voice a rich and soothing baritone. “I…made some tea. I thought you might fancy a cup.”

There was no response. Asgore’s brow furrowed slightly, and he took another step forward.

“Is…everything alright, dear?”

“Hahaha…”

Asgore was taken aback by the sudden sound. A withered, mirthless laugh had escaped Toriel’s lips. Slowly, she turned to her husband. Asgore could now see the pain-filled smile that graced the monstress’ features. The fur on her cheeks was wet from tears.

“No, honey,” she whispered. “Everything is not alright.”

“Oh my…” murmured Asgore. He set down the tea on the nearby desk, before approaching his wife, and wrapping his burly arms around her smaller frame. He pulled her close, his nose tenderly nuzzling the top of her head. “My dearest Toriel…whatever is the matter?”

“I…” Toriel paused, her head resting on Asgore’s chest. She listened to his slow heartbeat. A tear then streamed down her cheek, and she suddenly pulled away. “I have done something horrible.”

“What?” Asgore blinked in surprise and confusion. “What do you mean, Tori?”

“My decree…” Toriel replied. “I promised our people that I would kill any human who fell into our kingdom. I promised to murder innocent children, Gorey.”

Asgore opened his mouth to argue, but realized she was correct. It was the wee hours of the morning, not long after the loss of their second child. Knowing that the humans had taken the life of her only remaining child had filled the motherly queen with a desire for vengeance, something she had never felt before. She called every monster in the kingdom to the Capital, and promised to make the humans pay for their crimes. Asgore had believed she was only speaking of anger at the time. Everyone said and acted unlike themselves when they were angry. He saw no reason to be concerned, especially when he also felt some anger towards the humans. That was then. It had been weeks since the decree, and while Toriel’s rage had since faded, her subjects’ desires of destroying the human race had not. Asgore stared solemnly at his sobbing wife, and carefully, he brought up a hand, resting it on her shoulder.

“You were angry,” he began softly. “Everyone knows you were angry, dear. But you’re not anymore. Now you can take back what you said. Surely, we can find another way to break the Barrier. Our people will understand.”

“It is not that simple, Asgore…” Toriel stared up at her husband, her eyes glossy and bloodshot. “My promise filled our subjects with hope. If I just strolled up to them and said, "Oh, forget about what I said. I will not be collecting any human souls.”, I will destroy them. All of their hopes and dreams…shattered…turned to dust. One by one, they will fall into despair and perish. I will have killed them all. Do you see, Asgore? I will end the lives of innocent people, no matter which choice I take.“

"Toriel, no…” Asgore walked towards his wife again, but she simply backed away, shaking her head.

“Asgore, I…I am a a terrible creature…”

“That is enough.” Asgore caressed Toriel’s face in his hands, his thumbs wiping away her tears. He felt his eyes sting, but he held them back, forcing a smile to appear on his face. “Toriel, you are nothing of the sort. I will not hear you say those things.”

There was a moment of silence. Asgore and Toriel stood there, staring into each other’s eyes. It seemed like time had stopped just for them. Asgore searched his beloved’s eyes, hoping, praying that he had gotten through to her. Toriel slowly closed her eyes, letting out a long sigh.

“Then you shall not,” she finally said. “I shall have the servants pack your things.” Asgore blinked.

“…What?”

“You will not be staying here anymore, Asgore. I will not have you living with a monster like me.”

“Tori–”

“No, Asgore.” Toriel’s voice was firm now. “I have made my decision. I cannot break my promise to my people. I will have any human that falls down here killed. But…perhaps you can stop that.” Asgore didn’t speak, allowing Toriel to continue. “You will live in the Ruins from now on, away from me. You will protect the humans who fall down. Raise them and love them, the way you did for…our children.”

“I cannot leave you…” Asgore finally found his voice. His body began to quiver, and his heart felt as if it would be torn into pieces. Toriel looked away, biting her lip as another tear fell.

“This hurts for me too, Gorey…” the monstress whispered. “But it is the only way. Please…just go.”

Another silence. Toriel faced the wall, a heartbroken Asgore staring at her back. It took every fiber of his being not to fall onto his knees and beg for Toriel to reconsider…but he knew it was no use. Toriel was incredibly stubborn; she would not change her mind, no matter what he said. His eyes closed.

“As you wish, my beloved. I…I love you. Goodbye.”

Toriel heard a soft clattering noise, followed by the opening and closing of the bedroom door. A few seconds passed before Toriel dared to look back. Asgore was gone. On the desk, his crown sat beside the now cold cup of tea. Toriel’s legs suddenly felt weak, and she collapsed onto her knees. Her tears began to flow freely now.

“G-Gorey…I am sorry…I am so sorry…”

For the Sanses, the skeleton's niece/nephew gives them a drawing of their family. Everyone is very detailed and recognizable. ... Except them. They're like a potato with two eyes. Reaction?

Undertale Sans - He can't stop laughing. He expected something like that, but that's even funnier now that he's holding it in his hands. The kid is confused and a bit offended their uncle finds their drawing so amusing, but that just sends Sans off his chair because their face is hilarious. He guesses he deserves that though. He's a couch potato. He's far from offended and he's even framing it in his living room like it's the most expensive painting ever.

Underswap Sans - He GASPS. He was excited to receive a gift from his niece/nephew but now he is just so offended. You didn't even draw some blue on him. Make an effort? How did you manage to draw Asgore with his beard and everything, and not him? And why is he a potato and not Alphys?! That's not fair! Alphys deserves to be a potato too! She's the same height he is! Honey can't stop screaming in laughter as Blue argues with the confused 3-years old who doesn't understand what's wrong???

Underfell Sans - He forces a smile as Edge is giving him a death stare behind the kid. Ah... Yes... Very good drawing... Very... Artsy and stuff. Very colorful. That's totally him and not an ugly potato with two eyes. How did you picture him so well? He's exaggerating all of his praises, eyes in eyes with Edge. He's so going to keep the drawing... Except he has too. As the kid leaves, all happy, Edge tells him that if he finds the drawing in the trash when they leave, he's dead. Great.

Horrortale Sans - He's not sure what he's looking at honestly, but his niece/nephew seems very happy about this so he plays along. He's certainly not going to hurt their feeling and he's just happy they draw something for him. Actually, he's even a little emotional about that. That's like their first drawing and it makes him both happy and sad for some reason.

Swapfell Sans - ... What's that? You call that a drawing? Nox takes a deep breath. Rus begs him not to, but that's too late. Nox starts to criticize the drawing, and everything in the drawing, and shows the kid ways to improve their work by drawing over their drawing. The kid bursts into tears after two minutes and runs into Rus' arms, heartbroken. Then the brothers start arguing again. What? Do you want that kid to live in a world of lies? Thank Toriel there's at least someone to show them the truth in this family!

Fellswap Gold Sans - "COFFEE, WITH ALL RESPECTS, IS THIS REALLY YOUR CHILD? YOU'RE AN ARTIST, RIGHT? YOU SHOULD HAVE A DNA TEST. I THINK YOUR GENE BROKE IN THE PROCESS OR SOMETHING. I was saving this ask to make a little comic of how that last chapter felt but- lets say it didn't turn out how i wanted. Instead, i just dug out some of my old Maid-chan drawings and stared at them blankly for the next days.

I'm still particularly fixed on this one little page:

Mister Green was my absolute favorite and the only light i saw at the end of her tunnel. He was so kind and sweet, and pretty much the only one that treated her like a person (besides Yellow of course). When i first read this fic so many years ago i didn't trully realized the dark tone of this story but i still chose the only "healthy" option. I wanted MC to be happy and free, and oh how i wanted him to give her that. I held those drawings of him for years imagining a chapter where they would encounter again and that would drive her to a better ending (either skeletons overcoming their issues and treating her with respect or him taking her away).

But then this final chapter appeared and it was... a thing.

(Kinda spoilers for the babes that haven't read it)

First of all, I FINALLY GOT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER BEACH CHAPTERS OMG I NEEDED THAT

Second of all, it didn't look good at all and it was getting worse as I read. But then good because it was a week alone for her to rest and Sans was eating with her?? But also that whole scene reminded me how bad her situation really was so it actually wasn't good at all.

And then the scene that broke me.

I was aware that I wanted her to flee before, but I never thought she could.

It was oddly satisfying, if not a bit anxiety inducing because of the thought that they would caught her eventually. As always.

But then Asgore, and Orange. And nothing...

I got mad that he found her. Which was a weird feeling since I remember liking him a lot. It felt to me like he ruined her good enough ending. But despite that, it makes sense it was him so I don't complain.

What crushed me though, wasn't that she couldn't say goodbye or that Sans got tired of trying to get her back. It was the fact the Gs didn't even try looking for her. They didn't even got mentioned. What happened there, I wonder. Didn't they like her? Care for her? Mister Green wrote her letters, of course he liked her. But then why...?

Suddenly he looked like a fairytale.

The ending was great, finally lending her the ability to choose. It made absolutely everything worth it and the way it was written made me feel like I do have a say in the matter. And for the first time, i didn't choose the skeletons.

I realized she could find her happy ending alone.

I think that Asgore shattering the Mercy button is still one of the most heart breaking things, because like, he doesn't want you to use mercy because he doesn't think he deserves it

I can totally see Kris (and possible also Frisk now) doing or having like a summer or weekend ‘job’ at Asgore’s flower store.

And Kris would also be actually incredible at it, even though their main topic is moss, they definitely know how to take care of plants and how to grow them properly just by proxy.

Also probably how they earn their allowance, or at least part of it.

Well, they would earn money from it if Asgore wasn't broke because he keeps giving away all his flowers. But yeah! TR!Kris would be into it.

Some Undertale gamer headcanons:

Someone said that Toriel would be the world Tetris champion, and I'm not sure why, but I agree with that. And not just Tetris, but bubble-poppers, match 3, marble-shooters, all of those kinds of games. She's the new Candy Crush mascot.

I've also seen people say sans would be into rhythm games, and... no. Why would you think he would be into something that takes that much effort? Seriously, come on. What sans is into is farming sim games. He's written dozens of online strategy guides for Stardew Valley, all of them under different pseudonyms.

Papyrus is into online multiplayers. All of them, any genre- Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, Elder Scrolls Online, Runescape, you name it. He sucks at all of them, but none of his online friends is willing to tell him how bad he is because he's so darned innocent and nice. Nobody really wants him on their team because he'll always make them fail the mission, but he's so upbeat and uplifting that no one has the heart to tell him they don't want him.

Undyne loves Souls-like and dungeon crawlers, but she struggles with anything that requires stealth, she just doesn't. do. stealth. She says it's stupid to have to sneak up on enemies, she should just be able to barge in with guns or swords or spears blazing in any and all circumstances. Don't ever even suggest Metal Gear to her. Or Breath of the Wild- she rage-quit after the Yiga Clan Hideout quest (although it did leave her with the impression that bananas give you strength in battle, so she now always keeps a bunch of bananas on hand).

Blooky plays solitaire and Mah Jongg, and even those stress them out.

Maddie plays casino and slots games. On an unrelated note, she's always broke.

Mettaton is the rhythm games master. You will not change my mind on this.

Alphys is HEAVY into JRPG's. The more anime it looks, the more she loves it.

Asgore has no idea what a video game is. Well, ok, he has some idea, his kids both played games, but he never could figure them out. He thinks Sonic and Crash are both Mario characters and that Link is a girl- you get the idea. But he did used to play card and board games with Toriel. Especially chess (she totally owned his ass in every match). Ever since Toriel left, he can't bring himself to play chess. He plays checkers a lot, tho. He usually loses (he plays against himself).

Asriel and Chara were into action/adventure games. Asriel's favorite characters were Yoshi and Link, while Chara's favorites were Samus and Shadow the Hedgehog. What? No, I'm not projecting my favorite games onto the Dreemurr kids. What are you talking about?

Frisk has only ever played the hit indie game Undertale. About 500 times. Always Pacifist, they've never even tried a Geno run. They've been thinking about playing that Deltarune game, too, but they kinda wanna wait until the whole thing is released.

undyne analysis

undyne is a favorite character of mine, I think that's well known. But there isn't... Alot to her outside of her relationship with alphys. And I get why, at first glance she does have the reset aware depth other characters such if flowey, the skeleton bros, and asgore have.

I mean I've gone through ... So much of her canon stuff in game. And at first glance, she seems unaware

...but after looking closer... Shes the most like the player compared to flowey.

determination kept her from dying.

She was so determined she turned herself into a almagmate. her soul could be pure determination, just her body holds her back

In genocide, her fight isn't you against her like it usually is. It's HER against YOU. You are the villain of this story. She is the hero.

And that makes her like the player. The player naturally desires to be the hero, to be the main character in a story.

Her determination also plays into this

Her determination kept her alive

Her determination... Did what you do every time you die. Every time you reset

But because she is a monster, her body melted and broke from it. She cant hold that power, despite possessing it.

I think her lack of depth was a purposeful choice.In genocide she is a parallel to Frisk

Frisk is a blank slate. Made to be controlled. Undyne lacks depth because she's the hero. Like frisk, she seemingly was made to be projected on for the player. But she doesn't HAVE a player, obviously. But she is still the hero.

I think Frisk saved the monsters in more ways than one...

If Asgore had actually succeeded in his plans, broke the barrier and started a war... He would eventually lose control over the souls, like Flowey did or like Asriel was fighting over control with Chara.

Plus, humans might've lost most of their magic in the modern times, but they've gotten a lot smarter, crazier and there's BILLIONS of them versus a small kingdom.

Humanity would immediately nuke the mountain, if the monsters declared war.

Monsters wouldn't stand a chance.

Today I wanted to talk about au popular au that no one talks about, how can it be popular and yet no one talks about it? Oh my sunshine child, just wait and you'll see.

that at first glance this au makes no fucking sense, but when you find out why things are the way they are. it all's starts to make sense.

Let me set up the scene for you, we are in the underground of a normal Undertale nothing weird just og Undertale, everyone is just living their lives, working, playing, whatever, until asgore decides to go visit the barrier, and... The souls... The souls are gone! what happened?!

But it doesn't really matter that the souls are gone, thats because THE BARRIER IS BROKEN, which makes no sense cause in all the time they've spent in the underground, only six human kids have fallen. And no one knows how the hell that happened!

Asgore announces what happened, and when she finds out about it, toriel gets super confused cause she didn't see any more human kids going through ruins, asgore says they are gonna investigate, but.. monsters are free, which is nice...

Now, you must be wondering (If you haven't read the tags that is) which mysterious au are you talking about? Remember when I said no one knew how the hell that happened? Well I lied, two people know, this au doesn't really have a name.

It's the au is core frisk's birth au, after their soul got scattered across the multiverse no one is able to remember them, or the ghost that follows them around (chara) so for them the barrier just broke on its own, guess it just expired.

This AU follows a long a young girl named RAVEN. A human with a love for monsters, as she goes on a journey to MT. EBOTT. A few monsters guided the young girl. All except for one.

(this is an au based on the universe of undertale but won't be including ALL of the characters from undertale. Exceptions for Toriel, Flowey, Asgore and Undyne. Most of the characters are my ocs. Think about it as similar to Undertale Yellow! Though some characters in undertale appear in Undertale yellow such as (Toriel and flowey), Most characters are ocs.)

This is my chapter 3 secret boss oc, her name is Boo Quette and she is the care taker of the garden area I had her since june 2023 I was just lazy to post her lol. I have a lot of stuff written about her that I'll share eventually

Boo is the secret boss of chapter 3, her appearance in game being in an optional area called “The Garden” (it differs from the supposed theme of canon chapter 3 themed about Mike. Or make her do a TV gardening show lol) The Garden could be a representation of the garden surrounding Kris and Toriel’s house.

Boo is the characterization of the flower bouquet given by Asgore to Toriel (the one that Kris brings her). The flowers being tossed in the trash and starting to die/wilte, given that she became a ghost.

In the Dark World, Boo is the caretaker of the Garden. She was created by the Knight with his power and charged with protecting the Garden and its inhabitants.

On the first day she arrived, she asked to help the Darkners living there to restore the garden into the beautiful place it is today. Its habitants now consider themselves as her people as they admire her ever since.

Long after her arrival, the Knight broke into the place with bad intentions, causing chaos all around the Garden. Boo confronted him, as her only role was to protect the Garden and everyone, but she failed as she was too weak, she got killed in battle.

Seeing how much she has grown, the Knight decided to give her a gift before leaving, a reward. It was a Shadow Crystal. After receiving it, Boo was able to come back to life due to its power, but a lot of memories had to disappear with it. She then became the coo coo crazy lady she is now.

To this day, she’s keeping the Crystal inside her head, hidden behind the rose that’s replacing her eye and hiding the crackles. If the Lightners confront her, that means she’s going to see the Crystal taken away from her, as well as her life support.

Personality-wise, Boo kind of acts like Muffet in Undertale (greedy, intimidating, hypocritical, …) she genuinely seems pretty nice and sweet to everyone. Her text quirk is often having tildes “~” at the end of her sentences. She also speaks with normal caps (no uppercase).

She has a second form where she actually speaks in all caps, like Jevil and Spamton.
