Speaking of Idol DTV, what was the twist in Hime's route?
It doesn’t have much of a twist, I think? Hime’s route is a pretty straightforward progress. It’s kinda different from the others because Doripaku, despite being mocking and evil, is still an idol fan who likes all the girls except Hime. He is a full-blown Hime hater, insulting her at every opportunity and refering to her as a “cold-blooded monster who can’t understand the human heart”. But Hime is absolutely perfect, so her reaction is just to confidently swear that she will make him love her and then doing exactly as she said she would. Even if Doripaku completely disagree with her worldviews, she can’t deny the best idol’s outstanding talent and slowly starts to begrudgingly become a fan.
Well, we also get to see how Hime thinks and she actually a pretty unique character. Apparently, she has always been the absolutely perfect woman we see her as and everyone of her relatively small Hokkaidou city loved her. But what really defines Hime’s character is her unweilding belief that if someone loves her, she is able to fully love them back no matter who they are. That mentality was what made her want to be an idol in order to love and be loved by a lot of people. But she actually see her becoming the country’s number 1 idol as just a checkpoint torwards her greater goal: to be loved by everyone in the entire world.
There’s actually more to it than just that though. We get a few bits of backstory as the route progresses revealing the secret motive behind her goal.
Since she was younger, Hime had a serious problem with worshippers. She describes them as disgusting men who try to monopolize her love; selfish, greedy people can’t accept the fact that Hime Asahikawa belongs to everyone to every single person who loves her.
One case she mentions often was one time two boys confessed to her at the same time. She accepted both confessions, but the guys tried to force her to either choose only one or reject both and she clearly couldn’t understand the point of that. They both loved her, so she loved both of them back; Much to her shock, the 2 boys got violent with each other.
There were many other cases where she stalked or threatened, etc., but her super rich and influential father would always “deal” with them. She herself doesn’t know what “dealing” means but either way, her problems are solved. However, Hime wanted a better solution, one that attacked the cause rather than the symptoms. That’s when she realized she was a completely regular and reachable girl. If she became a celebrity, the more famous she would get, the more people would see her as a more out-of-reach figure they would love and be loved back by without trying to monopolize it. That would allow her to love everyone the way she wants and also solve the worshipper at the same time. And then she auditioned for Project 47 and became Japan’s number 1 idol still on her debut year, because Hime is just that perfect.
