hi anon, thank you so much for letting me know. i genuinely went into this wanting to give the benefit of the doubt, but the moment i realized this person (@amordemattheo) had me blocked, it already left a bad taste in my mouth. still, i decided to check it out for myself, and what i found was pretty blatant.

the fic in question is a word-for-word copy of my boyfriend’s brother mattheo fic (which was posted over two months ago). i’ve attached screenshots below comparing the two—see for yourself.

as you can see, the only things they changed were the names: ‘mattheo’ to ‘theo’ and ‘tom’ to ‘your boyfriend.’ even the formatting is nearly identical. and again, this person had already blocked me—which says a lot. it shows they knew exactly what they were doing and were trying to hide it.

obviously, i couldn’t message them myself, so i asked kira (@nottswitch) to reach out privately first, because i genuinely hoped this could be resolved privately without making it a big deal. she had also already seen what had happened.

clearly, kira messaged them in the most respectful way possible in a situation like this. despite that, their response was dismissive, unapologetic, and honestly just infuriating. there’s no remorse and, most importantly, no apology.

they acted like it was some small mistake or just “taking inspiration,” when in reality, they copied someone else’s work word-for-word, posted it as their own, and blocked the original writer to avoid being caught. that’s not a mistake—that’s deliberate plagiarism. and it’s hurtful.

i state clearly at the bottom of all my fics that my work is not to be copied or reposted anywhere and this person completely disregarded that. i wasn’t going to post about this publicly at first, but after seeing how they handled it, i realized it needed to be addressed because we need to be more aware of people like this.

stealing another writer’s work is serious.

we spend hours pouring ourselves into these stories. to take that and pass it off as your own—and then shrug it off like it’s “not that deep”—is beyond disrespectful.

do not create a writing blog if you are not going to write your own stuff. it defeats the whole purpose.
