As a lesbian. Transfem Arthur would make my entire life. And I LOVE the idea of it happening over time in the game!!! I wonder then about the relationship between the Hound and Arthur becoming romantic later on, post Arthur coming out?

Technically, Arthur would have already been out, but still, if romanced or with high platonic points, she will talk to her spouse about her gender identity/presentation etc more than with anyone else (except for Evaine perhaps), as she will definitely figure things out over the years

After 1500 years, Merlin thinks it's better to keep his aquired wealth hidden. It's all for Arthur anyway and Merlin would get bored without working hard everyday.

So he just - works a lot. To get away from the stress he takes a couple years off of doctor work and works as a barista in a coffee shop instead.

And then Arthur returns.

And Merlin is deeply embarrassed when Arthur sees him and asks him how he's 'sunken so low' (from working for kings to serve at a pub). Their initial fight about this topic becomes legendary in the history of the small local coffee shop.

And the regulars notice that Arthur ... Very quickly becomes one of them. He and Merlin bicker often and always and it seems like Arthur doesn't have a job at all, which makes his initial comment even worse.

He has also, somehow, never drunken coffee before? And still doesn't like the sweet stuff, as if he'd never had sugar in his life.

He stays everyday, for as long as Merlin works and then they leave together. Merlin takes Arthur to his apartment and every previous comment is stuck in Arthur's throat because modern apartments are beautiful? Not as big as he would like, but damn.

Merlin takes a month before he confesses to Arthur that he owns the entire building.

I can just see a conversation between the Arthur's, before it's revealed who 'Agrivaine' is, where Older Arthur is encouraging Young Arthur to just go for it, stop pining and just tell Merlin how you feel. And Young Arthur is just giving all these half hearted reasons why he can't (Merlin is a servant, a man, Merlin can't possibly like him like that), until Older Arthur groans and gives Young Arthur an ultimatum.

O!Arthur: you ask him out on a date, or I will.

Y!Arthur, who has seen Merlin staring at 'Agrivaine' appreciatively one to many times: wha-?! No! You can't do that!

O!Arthur: why not? If you're not going to, I might as well.

Y!Arthur: because he'll say yes!!!

O!Arthur: all the more reason to. Oh look, there's little Merlin now. Merlin! Over here!

Y!Merlin, starts coming over: what?

O!Arthur, avoiding Y!Arthur trying to shut him up: His Royal Majesty would like your company for dinner tonight. As a dinning companion. That he is courting.

Y!Merlin, blushing: wha...? Arthur, is that true?

Y!Arthur, clearly embarrassed: if I say yes, will you say the same?...

Y!Merlin, pure fondness: oh, you prat... Of course.

Later, when Older Merlin has come to retrieve his wayward king, Older Arthur tells him this story, and Older Merlin gives him this look.

O!Merlin: you were going to take him out to dinner yourself, weren't you?

O!Arthur, tearing up a little: it was so hard not to... You were so cute back then, and we took forever to get ourselves together! I want cute young Merlin kisses!

O!Merlin: .... You know, I maybe have a potion for that.

O!Arthur: ... Get us home. Right. Now.

Golden Age King Arthur accidentally gets sent back in time to the beginning of his reign. While making his way to Camelot hoping to find Merlin and figure out how to get back to his own time he runs into Agravaine making his own way to Camelot for the first time. Knowing he was a traitor working for Morgana in his own timeline, Arthur kills him and decides to take his place. No one had seen Agravaine since Ygraine's death, there were no portraits of him in the castle, and Arthur's premature greying hair has to be good for something other than Merlin calling him a silver fox. He can pass as his own uncle and be the caring advisor that young him deserved damn it!
