Everything I am, he made me! I was adorable once! Young, and full of hope! Now… look at me! I’m a short, fat, insecure, middle-aged… thing! I made you short?

guys i cant stop thinking about the Robin Williams film The Birdcage and how its considered a comedy. THAT SHIT MADE ME CRYY.
Albert and Armand are willing to change their entire life to bend to the will of their PRICK of a son. they love him so much and at NO POINT in that movie does he show any appreciation for his LOVELY PARENTS. and dont even get me started on agador, he TELLS val that he will fall if he wears shoes and that he cant cook and then when both of those things prove themselves true val has the audacity to be pissed off.
FUCK val honestly, how DARE he ask albert to leave, WHAT DO YOU MEAN he doesnt want his second father to meet his fiancé because hes too gay? ill strangle you, you little shit stain. why are you not the most culturally queer kid to ever walk the earth, you were raised by a drag queen and her husband who OWNS THE DRAG CLUB, be for real.
AND THE FACT THAT VALS FIANCE COULD CARE LESS IF HE HAS TWO DADS. why are we trying to impress these fucking conservatives, who gives a fuck.
and when armand and albert get their palimony agreement bc they cant get married. ILL SOB.
"What does it matter, take it all! im 50 years old and theres only one place in the world i call home and its because your there. so take it, what difference does it make if i say you can stay or you say i can stay? its ours." OH IM A WRECK. dont hit me up, im sobbing.

The greatest tragedy of dea- *remembers the deaths* the second greatest tragedy of- *remembers Knox and Chris and how Knox assaults Chris and canonically says carpe breastum in the novelization* the third greatest tragedy of dead poets society is how I’ve almost never seen anyone talk about a The Birdcage crossover (especially with how many of the other actors movies get crossovers).
Like guys imagine Keating leaving Welton, changing his name to Armand Goldman and traveling to Florida to get away from the bad press associate with his firing (in the movie Armand says he is 50 and he also said it took him 20 years to find who he is, putting him at about 30 years old when he went on his sexuality journey and opened the club which I would say is around Keatings age in the movie). Like I would highly doubt he can teach again, so he is in Florida, does a play in theater, has a son with a woman named Katherine, realizes he’s gay, opens a drag club, dates Albert while raising Val, and meanwhile the poets take a trip down to Florida to celebrate graduating Welton (don’t know keating is there) and they are all repressed queer kids so they are like “wouldn’t it be sooo funny if we went to a drag club guys, like I would really enjoy that- but not in a homosexual way! but like… it would just be a wild story to tell! And that’s totally why!” and so they choose this one called the Birdcage, and they go in and they see Keating there?? And Keating thinks he has been found out, so he’s freaking out while the boys are super excited cause omg it’s Keating! Keating is… running this drag club? and Keating goes through a bunch of hijinks to try to keep the two lives separate meanwhile every single one of the poets are going through a sexuality crisis/queer awakening all at the same time in this club cause this is the first time away from welton and their conservative families where they can actually explore their sexualities, and isn’t it funny how their teacher who was teaching them not to conform is here like what are the odds that keating would be here while all of them discover they aren’t straight and Keatings sitting there like “that’s what yall are worried about when I have to try to explain to Albert why 7 young gay boys are following me around calling me a different name without sounding like a pimp! Like Albert already freaks out saying he’s old and I must be going to leave him and seeing someone else, like he is going to jump to conclusions. Also you guys didn’t know all of yall were queer til now? I told you guys they used to kick Byron in my face, a bisexual man’s poetry, and recited you guys Walt Whitman, a gay man’s poetry, telling you to refer to me by one of his poems titles, and y’all proceeded to imprint on me, even calling each other gay poets names, of course ya’ll’re queer? Now can we get back to how imma tell Albert?”

***********
update cuz I finally watched The Birdcage, the ending sucks. if you’re going to watch it, i’m so serious about honestly stop watching when the secret is revealed, because it goes into centrist type bs
and also cw sexual assault / harassment for a few minutes in kinda the middle of the movie. the son's biological mom was feeling up the son's biological gay dad and verbally sexualizing him to him, bro i went to like 4 different content warning sites ofc none included this
