Alexander III of Macedon, most commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon.

He was taught by Aristotle: Alexander the Great’s tutor was none other than the famous philosopher Aristotle, who instilled in him a love for knowledge, philosophy, and the sciences.
2. Named over 20 cities after himself: Alexander named many cities after himself, the most famous being Alexandria in Egypt. There are over 20 cities named “Alexandria” that trace their origins to him.
3. Never lost a battle: In his 15 years of conquests, Alexander never lost a battle. His military strategies are still studied in military academies today.
4. He was declared a god: In Egypt, after his conquest, the Egyptians declared him a pharaoh and considered him a god, associating him with the Egyptian god Amun.
5. Tamed a horse no one else could: When Alexander was a boy, he tamed a wild horse named Bucephalus that no one else could. Bucephalus became his loyal companion in battle.
