Everyone please go and watch this
Basically a former HER employee decided to react to the entire series of Everything Wrong With Nancy Drew videos and add her own perspective and some insider info
For example
Certain voice actors are not credited because they were random people connected with the company who didn't want their names used
Pretty much any time something interesting happens out of Nancy's view it really is "to save on animation"
A lot of completely irrelevant but humorous bits are left in the games specifically because they are humorous (such as the rehearsal recordings in LIE)
The reason we can open the Snack Shop at random ass times is because everyone complained so much about mandatory cooking hours in ICE
The reason Nancy can't just smash down doors is literally because of the ESRB (apparently having the player deliberately destroy an object breaks the terms of E for Everyone)
The ending to SCK remaster was affected by ESRB as well - the original game's ending had to be completely changed because E restrictions had tightened between 98 and 2010, and also this is why the culprit knocks Nancy out with the gun instead of the more logical option
A LOT of the common complaints are ones that she has as well and some of them and she even brought some of them up to the team before release
This certainly isn't everything so please go and check out the videos!
#Nancy Drew#Nancy Drew games#clue crew#arglefumph#everything wrong with#seriously I've just binged this entire playlist over the last few days#though she couldn't say much about mid because nda

I watched the Arglefumph video about playtesting ND34 so you don't have to
What I think were the main takeaways with highlights bolded and time stamps if you want to see for yourself for the stuff where he elaborates some.
He did not edit the video that HeR posted on their account but he says the full footage was more like 30+ min
He can't reveal much than what HeR has already shared
Played for 6 hours and was told he was about halfway through the game BUT also notes that when he livestreamed his first play through of MID he was at about the halfway point of MID at 6-8 hours too
Does not have a release date or estimate. Just knows he was told sorta last minute he needed to post his video on 10/13/23 and he playtested in September. Threw off his schedule for scary game videos he was gonna do in October.
Thinks the opening is better than MID because MID started out with you in a dark room that you couldn't really see. This is an improvement.
Can't talk about any unrevealed characters
Doesn't know what the completion status of the game is
4:58 "Are the graphics better?" "The graphics are definitely more consistent in terms of characters." They don't look like they're made by three different companies or with repetitive movements.
Wants to talk about the interface but isn't allowed to
Fumbles around trying to explain whether the "vibe" is similar to other games.
More upbeat than gloomy
At least one or two scary things
"Did you encounter the new second chance screen?" "There's a new second chance screen? I didn't see it."
More puzzles at the beginning than MID but not saying a lot cause MID saved most of the puzzles for the end of the game
"Can you control the time?" Wants to answer this question but isn't allowed to
Liked the "Nancy and Ned stuff"
"Concerns I have? I have an answer but I don't think I'm allowed to say."
There's the 3d spinning tool to look at objects
He gave verbal feedback as he played it and filled out a written questionnaire after
There's puzzles in the first hour of the game which is unlike the endless talking in MID
"Logic puzzles or combining items puzzles"? he isn't allowed to say
Doesn't think he can answer questions about the hint system
The cafe puzzle is fun. It's making coffee.
Doesn't think he can answer whether there's a dialogue skipping option.
Can't talk about any bugs
The characters that have already been revealed are his favorites (suggesting there are more)
Basically just sat down and was told he could play as much as he wanted for a day so that ended up being around 6 hours.
"I hope the Herinteractive PR team isn't spying on me right now"
Doesn't think he will get to test the rest of the game
Can't talk about the specifics of where he did the testing
Doesn't know the situation with other beta testers, if any
Guessing release is next year but doesn't have maybe if they're talking about testing publicly than perhaps it's closer

I can hear Arglefumph’s voice saying, “Game forces me to think about Simone kissing someone”, just by looking at that last one 😆

I do think it’s interesting that they used arglefumph for this kind of marketing because I feel like the evolution of Nancy Drew creators that the fans consume has moved on from arglefumph over the years. Like Carter, Huw, and WizardKitten I feel are all far more relevant than he is, and would have made for better marketing.
Though maybe it’s just that he’s cross platform - people from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and (to a lesser extent I feel) tumblr all know him, so maybe they thought he’d have a higher reach? Idk I just feel like even tho he technically has the highest following of a nancy Drew creator I don’t think people really watch him anymore, except for his everything wrong with videos maybe.
#idk#I’m excited for the game no matter what#i just think arglefumph has fallen into irrelevancy#nancy drew#nancy drew games#nancy drew pc games#her interactive#clue crew#mystery of the seven keys

How to Trigger Spooky Events in Curse of Blackmoor Manor (SPOILERS!!!)
The last time I played CUR, I missed just about all of the spooky events I saw when I played as a kid. I decided to try to track down what triggers any “event” that takes place in Curse of Blackmoor Manor. In a new playthrough, I managed to find all the spooky events. One big difference was unlocking puzzles after the game gave you the clues (and not solving them by memory or intuition). Further details below. I hope this helps anyone in their own playthroughs whether they are playing for themselves or showing the game to a newcomer.
Nancy hears chanting after the first night. No puzzles needed.
Get the nightmare sequence by completing the 13-ghost-hunt on Alan’s computer and looking at all the portraits in the Great Hall)
To hear Linda cry, open the East Hall passageway and complete the parrot door. Walk by her room to hear sobs (I did actually go back and forth between the door and Loulou for each word)
To see meat by Linda’s bedside, I asked Linda about the passageway and eventually got kicked out after asking if I could get her anything. I opened the West Hall passageway (after getting the coat of arms from Nigel). I also saw that Nancy had to see Linda’s hand and call Paliki to follow up. I also had just come back from unlocking the forge. Whether Nancy has to unlock the forge or just be in another location is unknown (kind of like how to get food from Tommy, I order in Nancy’s room then go to the conservatory. When I go directly back to my room, the food is ready).
Nonetheless, I found that the biggest difference in my last gameplay (with few spooky events) and my latest (with a whole collection of events) was accessing the forge ASAP. I think it has to do with the letters in the forge (in one of the journals) having clues for how to solve the rest of the game. In my bad playthrough with few spooky scenes I completely forgot that notebook was there and skipped right past it.
Scratches on Nancy’s door: Go to sleep after getting the Moon key (opening the box in Nancy’s room, typing in zodiac)
Creepy Dark figure: go to sleep after solving for the lightning key.
Nothing happened after the arrow key. Nothing after finding the time/clock key. Nothing after unlocking the mercury wand.
With the water puzzle, open the food before moving any triangles. There is something at the bottom of the well. After opening well, Jane Penvellyn gets a threatening note.
Get the Crazy Frog dream by going to Jane’s room and clicking on the chattering teeth 10 times to get an Easter egg. Read through the Frog book in Nancy’s room. Solve the Frog puzzle with the filled up well and go to sleep.
Mrs. Drake leaves charm directly after one conversation line with Hugh Penvellyn, so always check if there’s something he needs to talk about
Obtain a threatening note after obtaining the 6 keys, opening the pipes (correctly), and going directly to Nancy’s room.
Hope this guide serves as a help. I replayed puzzles and dialogue pieces half a dozen times to figure out as specifically as possible what triggered the different spooky events. Other people may have found different strategies, but I am satisfied that I found all these events on one playthrough (though with loops until I found the right combination of events).
I do have to thank HAFanForever and Arglefumph for their work in displaying these scenes in their videos. They were great reminders of events, and I discovered new ones (the Frog Easter Egg Dream). I also want to thank Arglefumph for his “Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor - Easter Egg” video which showed how to get the crazy frog dream.

Before it was cancelled, the next Nancy Drew Mobile Mystery was supposed to be based off CAP, called “Castle Finster”. This was the teaser at the end of the Shadow Ranch mobile mystery which is no longer available but Arglefumph has a walkthrough.

shadow ranch mobile game, our collective white whale...
or maybe just mine. I want to experience it! via anything other than an arglefumph video guy gives me hives
it looks like someone had uploaded the app file to the internet archive! which is exciting! but actually playing it? i'm stumped.
touchHLE seems to be a dead end so far- p sure shadow ranch is too recent to run on it. i can add the files but when i try opening the app the program crashes. best I've been able to get is a split second of the opening screen
that's on windows 8.1, couldn't figure out how to run touchHLE at all on windows 11 fucking windows 11 i swear - not that I think it matters, I'm p sure touchHLE just isn't compatible
but ahhh I want to play the thing! let me have the thing!!

Re this post , I wanted to spread it around and day later I feel like while I do have problems with Michael Gray, I might have come off too strong/taken things a bit too far. I don’t know him personally, and while I disagree with stuff he does, that is my personal choice and opinion to not partake in his content.
I still do place blame on Herinteractive, I think it would even been fine for them to have Arglefumph test the game and post about it (the post about it is an important part) if they had also done the same with several other members of the community.
All in all this stuff is kinda hard because Arglefumph does have a platform in this community and should use that platform well, however things get weird *because* our community is still very small.
does anyone else have beef with arglephumph. Idk why I don't like him but he just makes me angry

Oh my gosh, I was just watching Arglefumph’s reaction video to the trailer and he stopped here and was talking about Radek and how he had a signed picture of himself here, and a thought came across my mind: since he’s at the marionette cart, and the autograph and everything, is Radek a famous marionette performer? Is he really big to the point where his name is a household word in that world-like Punch and Judy are?

because of reasons for my version of Nancy Drew, I am transcribing the dialogue from the games, specifically the official walk-throughs by Arglefumph
I’m only on the second game
I already hate it

My post about Arglefumph is seeing some traction again and I'm very pleased with my mental health in that if I see people disagreeing with me I can now just block em instead of feeling the need to scroll their whole blog OCD style
