dialogue prompt:
“close your eyes, and hold out your hands.”
read on aoc: here
“Are you listening to me?” Cha-young asked, her voice loud, and cutting him out of his reverie. They were sitting at the bar of some upscale restaurant, and the long day was beginning to catch up with him. He looked up at her, bewildered.
“Sorry, Ms. Hong. I must have…” he trailed off awkwardly, because she was pressing the back of her hand to his forehead, frowning in apparent concern. “What are you doing?”
“Just checking.” She raised her eyebrows comically. “If the great Mr. Mafia lawyer-”
“Stop calling me that-”
“-is not paying attention at all times, then something is surely wrong with him!” she finished victoriously, and when he said nothing, grinned at him, wide and beaming. Her face was slightly flushed, and her smile was nearly blinding in its intensity, and it had the combined effect of making him want to-
He shook his head, inwardly cursing at himself. “I’m fine. I was just thinking about next week. We need to figure out what we’re doing about the illegal stock acquisitions.”
She nodded, and turned serious. It was admirable how she could do that, how she could push her drink away and take out her phone to write down their plans.
And if he moved a little closer to her, and let his hand rest a little longer than usual on her shoulder, well, that was nobody’s business.
-----
The next day, he barely saw her. When he arrived at the firm in the morning, three cups of coffee in hand, she was pulling on her coat. She took her coffee from him, smiled in thanks, and breezed out the door, leaving him staring after her.
“I think she said she had some errands to run,” Mr. Nam said, pointedly ignorant as always, taking his cup from him. Vincenzo nodded, and set his briefcase down. He opened his computer, set down his cappuccino, and soon was lost in the case files that he had uploaded the previous day. Mr. Nam periodically asked him for some document from the shelves, but for the most part, they worked in silence. When the quiet got too much, he put in his earphones to listen to Guilio Cesare, one of his favorite operas and one that he had frequently gone to watch in Milan, when he had some free time. When he had tried to show it to Cha-young, she had fallen asleep on his couch, and he had had to put her feet up on the cushions and cover her with a blanket for the night.
Around noon, there was a memorable incident involving the monks, a runaway cat, and a feline fur allergy, which left poor Monk Chaesin covered in hives (before Ms. Jang stabbed him with an epipen), but other than that, the day passed by relatively uneventfully.
She didn’t come back to the firm at all, which was highly unusual for her. He had grown used to hearing her move around the room, talking either to them or on the phone about anything and everything, and felt the silence most keenly, especially when Mr. Nam took out his own lunch, leaving Vincenzo to wander on his own to the snack bar for something to eat. Usually he would have gone out with Cha-young, and he couldn’t stop wondering where she was.
When he casually asked Mr. Nam if he knew, the older man had just fixed him with a knowing stare, and Vincenzo had hurriedly ducked out of the room, willing the blush on his face to disappear.
As it got dark, however, he was beginning to get worried. What if Jang Han-seok had decided that his lingering fondness for his sunbae didn’t matter anymore, and was having her kidnapped? He didn’t doubt that she could take care of herself (“Seven degrees in martial arts, Mr. Cassano. I’m practically a member of the mafia already”), but it wasn’t like her to go off the grid like this.
Then he scowled at himself. Remember, you get the gold, ruin Babel, and leave. There’s a beach house in Malta waiting for you. Nothing else.
But sometimes, he saw Mr. Nam lighting up with an idea, saw Mr. Lee trying to mimic the clicking of his lighter, saw his mother’s eyes soften when he walked in, saw Cha-young (when had he stopped thinking of her as Ms. Hong?) snort with laughter as he broke out sweating after eating too-spicy noodles, and wondered if it couldn’t be something more. Would he be content to live alone in Malta all his life? Or had he grown accustomed to the people and the life around him, to the point where he couldn’t imagine living any way else? To the point where he was beginning to think of the one-bedroom Geumga Plaza apartment with its tacky ceiling stars, as home?
Could he imagine living without her?
It was a question that had crossed his mind too many times to count, and each time he had banished the thought, because that led to a dangerous road, and he didn’t need all the feelings associated with it. He needed to stay focused, and think about his next moves, and how to outsmart his enemies.
But his mind kept going back to her.
He shook his head at himself as he turned his key in the lock of his apartment door. He got ready for the night, taking off his jacket, making a serving of ramyeon for dinner, and turning the TV on to play music from the classical channel. From the sounds of it, it was some Vivaldi concerto, hallmarked by its minor key and fast paced violin solo.
He was pouring himself a glass of wine when there was a knock at the door. He frowned, and set the bottle down. Flexing his fingers, he went to the door, and opened it.
Cha-young stood there, looking unbothered, holding an enormous box like it was nothing. She pushed past him into the apartment and set the box down on the counter.
As she flopped unceremoniously onto his couch, and picked up his wineglass by the stem, he suddenly felt a hot flush of something. He inhaled shakily, and realized what it was.
He had been going out of his mind worrying about her. She hadn’t picked up any of his calls, and had been incognito all day, and now she was acting like nothing had happened? He exhaled sharply, and she looked up, sipping from his glass, her eyebrows high on her forehead.
“Where have you been?”
“I was shopping. Why, does it matter? Am I not allowed to take a day off?” She stood up, crossing her arms. She stepped forward until she was in his space, and he backed up until his hip hit the kitchen counter.
“No, it’s not that, I just didn’t know where-”
“Why does that matter?”
And isn’t that the crux of it. Why does it matter to him? If she was nothing but his work partner, then he would have no problem with her leaving in the morning to run errands, and not return to work. He might rib her about it the next day, but he wouldn’t have worried this much, wouldn’t have thought up all sorts of horrible scenarios in his head, all of which involved him finding her, broken and dead.
He cannot think, not with her so close to him, so close that he can smell the wine on her breath that she had just drank, just drank from his glass, her eyes seeming to stare into his soul. He gripped the counter for strength. She tracked the movement with her eyes, and stared back at him.
“I was worried, all right? I didn’t know where you were and I was worried.” There. He’s said it. He ran his hands through his hair, and she stared at him for a long moment, seeming to come to a realization within herself. Then, she stepped back, and moved to get the enormous box from where she had placed it on the counter.
He stared at her.
“What is this?”
She rolled her eyes. “Just close your eyes and hold out your hands. You’ll see.” She pursed her lips when he did nothing, so he straightened up and closed his eyes, holding his hands palm up and feeling very stupid. He could hear her moving, and the sound of the box opening. She moved closer, and he got a whiff of her perfume. When he had first started working with her, he had hated it, because it had been some American brand. They had had a long debate where he had taken her to a perfume store and tried to get her to appreciate one of the many luxury European brands, but she had been steadfast in her defence of Tom Ford, and that had been that. He had grown to associate that scent with her, and the other day, had caught a whiff of it at the bank and had looked around like a fool, for her.
Now, it was all he could make out, because she was standing out of reach from him, still doing something with the box. He felt like he had that day he had lost the bet about the bungeoppang, when he had waited, eyes closed, utterly at her mercy, for her to flick him on the head. He felt warm, like the temperature had suddenly increased by several degrees.
She moved closer to him, finally, and placed something flat in his arms.
“You can open your eyes now.”
He did, and looked down, baffled. She had gotten him a record player. On top of it were several records of-
“Opera?” he asked, looking up at her. She smirked, looking smug.
“Yes. I got your playlist from Mr. Nam, and bought the records for them, as well as a few that I thought you would like as well. I did so much research for this, you have no idea. It was so boring, so you should be grateful.” He stared at her in shock.
She had gone out and bought a record player, so he could listen to his favorite genre of music the way that God had intended: via vinyl record. It was nearly identical to the one that he had had back in his apartment in Milan. How did she know? She was smiling at him, waiting for his reaction, and her eyes were on him like he was something marvelous, luminous, and he swallowed a lump in his throat.
Suddenly, in that moment, he realized that it really didn’t matter if he had his beach house in Malta or not. It didn’t matter if he had to fight Babel forever, because he would do it, he would do it all, as long as she was there right beside him. He could take on a god and he would win, because he would be able to look to his side and see her stare the god down with steel in her veins.
And before he knew it, he was moving. He set the record player down on the counter, carefully, and surged forward. Her eyes widened slightly, and he cupped his hand around her neck and drew her to him, his lips finding hers. For a second, she was frozen, but she sighed into his mouth and responded, her one arm snaking around his back and the other hand threading through his hair. It felt like every place that she touched him was on fire, and he was floating through the superheated air.
It could have been minutes, or years, or seconds before she pulled back, and smiled brightly at him.
She leaned in to kiss him again on the mouth, and said, against his lips,
“You have no idea how long I have been waiting to do that, Mr. Mafia.” He goggled at her, too shocked at her and himself to complain, and she smiled again, the quirk of her lips teasing.
“Your ramyeon is burning.”
He cursed, moving quickly to the stove, trying desperately to salvage the ruined noodles. She came up behind him, wrapping her arms around his body from behind, and laughed, her chin on his shoulders, and it was the most intoxicating sound he’d ever heard. Her perfume drowned out the burned smell of the ramyeon, her hair tickled his jaw, and he couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face.
A warm feeling that had nothing to do with the weather spread through him, and it felt like coming home.

Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Market Expected To Have An estimated Worth Of $144.97 Billion Valuation By 2028
The global electric vehicle charging infrastructure market size is expected to reach USD 144.97 billion by 2028 registering a CAGR of 33.4% from 2021 to 2028, according to a new study conducted by Grand View Research, Inc. The significant market growth is primarily due to the rising number of initiatives undertaken by both public as well as private sectors to encourage the population to switch to EVs. As a result, the demand for EV charging infrastructure is expected to grow significantly. For instance, in the U.S., the Washington State Department of Transportation has partnered with the Oregon Department of Transportation to construct the West Coast Electric Highway (WCEH) that consists of 57 EV charging stations across Oregon and Washington. Similarly, many other governments are jointly developing intra-continental networks of highway charging stations.
Various EV manufacturers, such as Volvo, Kia Motors, Mercedes-Benz, and Ford, are collaborating with the charging infrastructure providers for easy availability of charging stations. For instance, In November 2020, ChargePoint, Inc. announced its partnership with Volvo Car USA LLC to provide a seamless charging experience to the Volvo car drivers. ChargePoint, Inc. will offer Home Flex home chargers, which will enable drivers to charge their cars at home. Moreover, Delta Electronics, Inc.; Enel X; and Ecotap BV are focusing on the development of solar-powered EV charging stations. For instance, under the Honda SmartCharge program, Enel X is currently working on the development of a solar-powered charging station in Hawaii (U.S.) in partnership with the Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. Furthermore, various companies are working towards upgrading Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) to make them more convenient for long-distance travel. Some of the EV manufacturers, such as Tesla, Inc., and Nissan, are focusing on providing compatibility for their electric vehicles for public charging networks. For instance, Nissan in November 2019, announced that buyers of new Nissan LEAF would be able to charge their vehicles across EVgo’s charging network that comprises 750 public charging stations.
The demand for EVs has been growing in line with the rising awareness about environmental sustainability and the stringent limits several governments are putting on vehicular emissions. While private companies are focusing on developing innovative EV chargers and charging stations, governments are collaborating with these companies for rolling out EV Charging Infrastructure. In addition, technologies, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Near-Field Communication (NFC), have enabled the installation of interactive, kiosk-based, and self-operated charging stations within highway charging stations. Several private organizations are keen on investing in the development of EV charging stations along the highways. All these factors are driving the demand for highway charging stations

Car Market Share Dec 2021 – Maruti, Tata, Hyundai, Mahindra, Honda, Kia
The decline regarding the main pandemic, global semiconductor deficiency, the introduction of new and strict safety standards and a sudden Spurt in demand for electric vehicles has become part of last year's constraint faced by leading car makers in India.
Leading three carmakers, Maruti, Tata and ordered a market share to close to 75 percent among the top 15 OEMs in India. The last month had seen some of the highest and lows with Maruti, Hyundai, Kia and Renault posting a yoy drop in market share. However, Momuti and Tata's market share is rapid. Tata Motors has seen a surge in sales for all time high, making it possible to become the second best-selling car maker in India, taking Hyundai's place.
Once again it was Maruti Suzuki that was the highest market share holder in India with YoY's de-growth but the mother increased. Maruti's market share that has reached 50.90 percent in December 2020 dipped 2.55 percent to 48.34 percent in the past month. However, mothers increased 3.60 percent more than 44.75 percent of the shares held in November 2021.
The company section in the mid-SUV segment is still quite low while the company said that it would not launch an electric car on the Indian market before 2025. Maruti has stated that for now it will concentrate on the development of flex-fuel vehicles and introduce more CNG products on the Indian market .
On No. 2 is Tata Motors with a market growth of 5.36 percent in a market share to 13.87 percent last month, up from 8.51 percent held in December 2020. It was also 1.73 percent of mothers increased by more than 12.14 percent held in November 2021. Hyundai Motor India on No. 3 seeing the market share fell 4.44 percent, the highest in this segment to 12.70 percent in December 2021, down from 17.14 percent was held in December 2020. Mother's market share also fell 2.39 percent from 15.09 percent held at November 2021. Low down orders, Mahindra (6.96 percent), Toyota (4.26 percent) and Honda (3.13 percent) all posted yoy growth in market share. Basically a mother, it was only a Honda market share which increased 0.91 percent from 2.23 percent in November 2021 to 3.13 percent in the past month.
KIA India has seen Yooy's market share and mothers each and 2.73 percent respectively 3.06 percent in December 2021. KIA Carens has been launched and is scheduled to be launched in India in early 2022 which can produce more sales in the month upcoming months. Carens can be valued between Rs 15 Lakh to Rs 20 Lakh and will compete with Hyundai Alcazar, Safari Tata, Mg Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV700 in the segment.
MG motorbike saw its market share fell 0.47 percent based on yoy to 0.98 percent while maternal share also fell 0.03 percent more than 1.01 percent held in November 2021. MG motor has also confirmed plans to expand ZS EV cars. The electricity model both will be a crossover based on the global platform. Trailing list is a Jeep (0.36 percent) and Citroen (0.01 percent) while Ford has announced the release from India.

‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is essentially a coming of age story where the main character meets a manic pixie dream girl and starts a relationship with her, but instead of becoming a better person by the end of the story through said relationship, he decides it’s not worth it and turns into the worst possible version of himself.

Having recently finished rewatching all five seasons of Leverage before diving into Leverage: Redemption, I have to say that the new series is just...better. Not that the original was bad, but the new show takes what worked about the original and vastly improves upon it.
I find Harry Wilson to be a much more compelling character than Nate Ford ever was, because he’s someone we see face down the errors of his ways and how, through joining the Leverage team, he’s trying to make amends. Nate was already disillusioned with the system he’d been working in when we met him in the pilot and while the writers did have some interesting ideas for his character with his alcoholism and his history with his father, it never felt like either of those were explored with enough depth to make them compelling. He stops drinking between seasons one and two, but falls off the wagon to help sell a con, and the fact that he’s an alcoholic is only occasionally brought up after that with no real resolution for it, and his relationship with his father gets even fewer mentions with even less resolution. Harry, on the other hand, is new as a criminal, but he wants to work to make amends for the wrongs he’s committed -- maybe sometimes too much, to the point where it nearly blows the con. There’s more to explore with the character, sure, but this is a good start.
Breanna is a nice addition as well. Bringing in a younger character, especially one who’s grown up in the post-9/11 world we live in and doesn’t know anything different is interesting, but beyond that, her desire to prove herself as more than just the hacker is very endearing, and I’m very interested to see where the character goes in future episodes. I hope that at least one of those episodes involves Hardison coming back and seeing how she’s grown as part of the team. I also really like the mentor-mentee relationship she’s got going with Parker and Elliot (and Sophie too, to a lesser extent).
As for the three returners, I love how they’ve evolved in the years since the end of the original show. Parker especially, seeing a therapist and being able to do work as both a grifter and a thief, which just adds to the arsenal for the team, and gives Sophie a chance to flex her skills as the team’s new mastermind, a role she’s inhabiting very well.
Overall, I think Leverage: Redemption is doing a better job at finding the right balance between character development and the con than the original series did and I am 100 percent here for it.

Writing Title: Monday 99 Cent Chicken Deluxe Specials
I remember my dad bringing me here when I was a little boy. I'd get a chicken sandwich and remove the tomato and lettuce. "Those are the best parts of the sandwich; they make you strong!" My dad would say. So I would try eating them because I wanted to be strong like my dad.
What's even more comforting about this memory is the fact that we would always park to the left side of the building to eat; and years later, I find myself doing the same when I go to other fast food drive-thrus. My intention is to simply sit in the car to eat and talk with whoever I'm with. I'm sure a lot of people do this, but I think I do this because of my dad.
I can see it now. Me pulling at the lettuce skirt of my sandwich and dragging it off onto the middle console of the old white Ford F-150. My dad facing me to flex his left bicep with a smile full of food.

Where the most important thing is the most advanced.
The best-selling US truck challenges expectations each year. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 impresses users whether it be advanced technologies, more convenient features, or more power. The Silverado 1500 provides innovative technology for 2021, which simplifies trailering. The drives are even heavier so that you can twist bigger loads.
New tailgate
The 2021 Silverado 1500 provides more features and access to the six-functional truck bed, starting with the Multi-Flex Tailgate. The weight is 375 pounds and can be controlled by a key fob or the back door controls.
New trailering tech
Several trailering technology is also new for 2021 to give you a better view over your landscape and allow you to get to the hitch. Changing lanes will expose obstacles by using the Trailer Length Indicator. The enhancement to the rear side reveals your truck to the left and right when you reverse it. In addition to the truck bed view — Cargo Bed View Zoom and Bed Hitch Guide — give you a better picture when you try to attach your trailer.
Greater capacities
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will twist an additional 2,500 pounds under its hood when properly fitted with a 2,7-liter turbo engine. Driven by the Duramax 3.0-liter turbo diesel, it increases to 1.900 pounds its towing capacity. Check out the 2021 Silverado Chevrolet 1500 in Houston at Davis Chevrolet. The 2020 Silverado Chevrolet 2500HD was much different from the 2019 production. It was effectively a redesign year and led to a new exterior, interior, and technology in a Chevrolet heavy-duty truck, which has never been seen before. However, it’s been a year since then, and 2021 models hit dealers every day. How do you equate the 2021 Silverado 2500HD to 2020?
In turn, Chevrolet Silverado aims to use the various favorable conditions to make it the best selling vehicle in its category in Argentina and the rest of South America’s Mercosur countries. The strategic focus of GM is on two significant competitive advantages that make the Silverado market more comfortable in the country; the latest diesel-generated engine and Mexico based manufacturing, according to Autoblog Argentina.
When the Chevrolet Silverado enters the local market in the first half of this year, it is the only full-size pickup in America that will offer a diesel engine and will differentiate itself from its rivals in history, recently created. Only V8 petrol engines are available with a large volume cap on the American market, both in the Ford F-Series and the Ram Pickup ranges.

10 Pickups You've Probably Never Heard Of | HotCars
Seeing the particular commendable progress and development the automotive industry has observed in recent times, it's nice to appear back on the amazing vehicles and pickups it has still left us with over the years.
While brands this kind of as Chevrolet and Ford have got secured their positions as being an of the industry's leading producers in the pickup production picture, it hasn't been an easy trip for others.
The particular competitive and demanding character of the market has pressed manufacturers from all around the planet to go above and beyond to conciliate the crowd with some outstanding and innovative pick-ups that are remembered to this day , while many others haven't already been quite as popular. Listed below are 10 pickups you've probably by no means heard of.
ten 1957 Kia Thames Trader
via Wikiwand
It's no surprise which the Ford Thames Trader is really a pickup that has been shy associated with attention, especially with a short production period of 8 many years intended for the British marketplace.
via TopWorldAuto
The particular Thames Trader featured various versions, giving interested purchasers an option between the Mk1, Mk2, and the NC.
It's fairly easy to tell involving the three, as the NC has been Ford's attempt at producing the Thames Trader the pickup useable for daily activities rather than being purely a work truck. Obviously, Ford's attempt was ineffective as the model's production stopped in 1965, 8 many years after it began.
9 1978 Subaru BRAT
via Japanese Nostalgic Vehicle
Regarded as one of the more controversial cars, the particular BRAT was loved simply by as many people as it had been hated by.
via Japanese Nostalgic Vehicle
The particular pickup isn't bad whatsoever, with a nice muscle car-like design, the BRAT was obviously a perfect combination between the muscle car and a pick-up. Additionally , its small develop and low helped make up for the lack of speed in the BRAT's 73 horsepower engine using a torque of 94 lb-ft.
A lot of people disliked the BRAT due to its small, car-like design, thus the particular undeserved categorizing of it being a pickup while others couldn't assist but appreciate how excellent it was and how much this had to offer with its dependable handling and surprisingly, steady performance. The mixed views didn't stop the pick-up from enjoying a nice manufacturing run of 16 many years.
8 2000 Chevy SSR
via Supercars
With the launch of the SSR back in the year 2003, it's obvious that Chevy had no clue exactly what direction modern cars had been going in, thus the short-lived manufacturing period of 3 years.
via AutoInfluence
The gimmicky plus silly look the SSR had to it was offputting plus received a lot of negative opinions by gearheads who could not understand how the SSR was similar to a pickup in any way feasible. If anything, it appears like an oversized convertible having an extremely large trunk. Inspite of the unfavorable reputation the SSR has gained, it has not stopped the pickup through becoming a sought-after collector's product for its bizarre and exclusive look.
Related: The Real Reason The Chevy SSR Failed
7 1974 Mazda Rotary
via Provide a Trailer
With just a bit more than 15, 000 units created, the Rotary pickup produced by Mazda has managed to remain out of the spotlight.
via Inside Mazda
It's depressing to see a pickup that could have experienced potential fail like this overlooked beauty, but the dreaded Rotary engines were known for being unreliable and presented very the amount of issues over the years.
The long combustable chamber paired with its unequal temperatures proved to be a dealbreaker for many, which lead to the particular model being discontinued.
6 1970 Dodge Dude
via Autocar
Introduced in 1969, the Dodge Dude was obviously a trim package designed for the present Dodge D100, and in spite of efforts to make it work, the particular Dude simply didn't have got what it takes to stay in production.
via Cyberspace plus Time
There were very few differences involving the Dude and the D100, the most known ones being the addition of a good air conditioner and the option of container seats, something that didn't actually win the crowd more than.
At the end of the day, just one, 500-2000 units of these versions were produced over the course of two years before production came to the halt.
5 1973 Ford Courier
via Hemmings
As being a staple of automotive production, Ford has been a manufacturing giant since its founding within 1903. Despite the countless good models they've produced, you can find bound to be a few that will didn't live up to the requirements, and the Courrier was among those.
via Traditional Cars
The reason this pickup unsuccessful was due to the fact that Kia tried to pass off the Courier as an original model, whenever in fact , the Courier has been built off the Mazda B-Series pickups, something gearheads compensated close attention to.
Needless to say, with poor wedding reception, and low sales, Courier production ended after four years of its initial launch.

4 2002 Lincoln Blackwood
via Automobile Mag
Recognized now as one of the top suppliers of luxury cars within modern days, Lincoln is really a brand that has received globally accreditation.
Whilst their cars have been mainly nothing short of outstanding, their own attempt at a luxury pick-up wasn't the most successful.
via CLASSIC
With an incredibly short bed and significant price of $52, 000, manufacturing was only at close to 3, 500 units from the intended 18, 000 devices.
Focusing a lot of on the luxury aspect of the particular pickup, functionality, and flexibility weren't as top-notch because car enthusiasts would have wished, something that took away any kind of appeal the pickup experienced, which ended the production of the model only one year right after it had begun.
3 1988 Jeep Comanche
via Car Throttle
For a pick-up that is rarely talked about these days, the 4x4 Comanche has been an absolute beast, setting multiple international globe records .
via Jeep Comanche Available
Possibly the biggest and only problem the particular Comanche really had been rusting, something that many pick-ups during the time suffered from over a long time. Other than that, this pickup had been extremely reliable, and as considerably as performance, was among the strongest standing pickups throughout its time, setting numerous records over the years.
two 1993 Toyota T100
through USA Newsroom
Designed and created for the American and Canadian markets, by the Japanese producer, the T100 managed to considerably deliver.
through USA Newsroom
With a minimalistic plus straightforward exterior and nicely designed interior, the pick-up looked pretty good, but the just issue it faced was your small size in comparison with the neighborhood contenders.
This took a while before product sales of the T100 went upward, especially with a seemingly underpowered 150 horsepower V6 as well as the lack of a v8 replace.
Despite getting negative criticism upon launch, the pickup went on in order to win several titles like the "Initial Quality Survey Award".
Related: Toyota Files Patent Application To get Twin-Turbo V8 Engine
one 1960 Studebaker Champ
through Curbside Classic
Introduced back in 1960, the Studebaker Champ had been overhyped upon its launch, with a claim that "it can handle what other pickups didn't want to handle". And with only four years of production, it goes without saying the fact that Champ failed to deliver.
via Pinterest
The enormous size of the pickup has been an instant attention grabber, along with an elegant grille accompanied by car headlights that perfectly complemented this, the exterior was something in order to gaze at, and the inside was no less impressive. Sadly, being advertised as an incredibly strong pickup and then just putting forth mediocre overall performance caused sales to drop through the years leading to the model's end of contract.

Russia is amassing unprecedented military might in the Arctic Weapons experts and Western officials have expressed particular concern about one Russian ‘super-weapon,’ the Poseidon 2M39 torpedo. Development of the torpedo is moving fast with Russian President Vladimir Putin requesting an update on a “key stage” of the tests in February from his defense minister Sergei Shoigu, with further tests planned this year, according to multiple reports in state media. The device is intended to deliver a warhead of multiple megatons, according to Russian officials, causing radioactive waves that would render swathes of the target coastline uninhabitable for decades. In November, Christopher A Ford, then assistant secretary of state for International Security and Non-Proliferation, said the Poseidon is designed to “inundate U.S. coastal cities with radioactive tsunamis.” An “onyx” anti-ship cruise missile launched by the Northern Fleet in Alexandra Land, near an Arctic “trefoil” base. Credit: Russian Ministry of Defense Experts agree that the weapon is “very real” and already coming to fruition. The head of Norwegian intelligence, Vice Admiral Nils Andreas Stensønes, told CNN that his agency has assessed the Poseidon as “part of the new type of nuclear deterrent weapons. And it is in a testing phase. But it’s a strategic system and it’s aimed at targets … and has an influence far beyond the region in which they test it currently.” Stensønes declined to give details on the torpedo’s testing progress so far. Satellite images provided to CNN by space technology company Maxar detail a stark and continuous build-up of Russian military bases and hardware on the country’s Arctic coastline, together with underground storage facilities likely for the Poseidon and other new high-tech weapons. The Russian hardware in the High North area includes bombers and MiG31BM jets, and new radar systems close to the coast of Alaska. The Russian build-up has been matched by NATO and US troop and equipment movements. American B-1 Lancer bombers stationed in Norway’s Ørland air base have recently completed missions in the eastern Barents Sea, for example. The US military’s stealth Seawolf submarine was acknowledged by US officials in August as being in the area. A senior State Department official told CNN: “There’s clearly a military challenge from the Russians in the Arctic,” including their refitting of old Cold War bases and build-up of new facilities on the Kola Peninsula near the city of Murmansk. “That has implications for the United States and its allies, not least because it creates the capacity to project power up to the North Atlantic,” the official said. Source: Satellite image ©2021 Maxar Technologies, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Graphic: Henrik Pettersson, CNN The satellite images show the slow and methodical strengthening of airfields and “trefoil” bases — with a shamrock-like design, daubed in the red, white and blue of the Russian flag — at several locations along Russia’s Arctic coast over the past five years. The bases are inside Russian territory and part of a legitimate defense of its borders and coastline. US officials have voiced concern, however, that the forces might be used to establish de facto control over areas of the Arctic that are further afield, and soon to be ice-free. “Russia is refurbishing Soviet-era airfields and radar installations, constructing new ports and search-and-rescue centers, and building up its fleet of nuclear- and conventionally-powered icebreakers,” Lt. Col. Thomas Campbell, a Pentagon spokesman, told CNN. The 50 Let Pobedy (50 years of victory) icebreaker moving through the Arctic ice, said to be in January this year, in a first transit of the eastern seas in deep winter. Credit: Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation “It is also expanding its network of air and coastal defense missile systems, thus strengthening its anti-access and area-denial capabilities over key portions of the Arctic,” he added. Campbell also noted the recent creation of a Quick Reaction Alert force at two Arctic airfields — Rogachevo and Anadyr — and the trial of one at Nagurskoye airfield last year. Satellite imagery from March 16 shows probable MiG31BMs at Nagurskoye for what is thought to be the first time, bringing a new capability of Russian stealth air power to the far north. High-tech weapons are also being regularly tested in the Arctic area, according to Russian officials quoted in state media and Western officials. Campbell added that in November, Russia claimed the successful test of the ‘Tsirkon’ anti-ship hypersonic cruise missile. A Russian army demonstration video of its new ski sled for the Arctic. Credit: Russian Ministry of Defense The Tsirkon and the Poseidon are part of a new generation of weapons pledged by Putin in 2018 as strategic game changers in a fast-changing world. At the time US officials scorned the new weapons as technically far-fetched and improbable, yet they appear to be nearing fruition. The Norwegian intelligence chief Stensønes told CNN the Tsirkon as a “new technology, with hypersonic speeds, which makes it hard to defend against.” On Thursday, Russian state news agency TASS cited a source in the military industrial complex as saying there had been another successful test of the Tsirkon from the Admiral Gorshkov warship, saying all four test rockets had hit their target, and that another more advanced level of tests would begin in May or June. The climate emergency has removed many of Russia’s natural defenses to its north, such as walls of sheet ice, at an unanticipated rate. “The melt is moving faster than scientists predicted or thought possible several years ago,” said the senior State Department official. “It’s going to be a dramatic transformation in the decades ahead in terms of physical access.” Source: Satellite image ©2021 Maxar Technologies, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Graphic: Henrik Pettersson, CNN US officials also expressed concern at Moscow’s apparent bid to influence the “Northern Sea Route” — a shipping lane that runs from between Norway and Alaska, along Russia’s northern coast, across to the North Atlantic. The ‘NSR’ potentially halves the time it currently takes shipping containers to reach Europe from Asia via the Suez Canal. Russia’s Rosatom state nuclear company released elaborately produced drone video this February of the ‘Christophe de Margerie’ tanker completing an eastern route across the Arctic in winter for the first time, accompanied by the ’50 Let Pobedy’ nuclear icebreaker for its journey in three of the six Arctic seas. Campbell said Russia sought to exploit the NSR as a “major international shipping lane,” yet voiced concern at the rules Moscow was seeking to impose on vessels using the route. “Russian laws governing NSR transits exceed Russia’s authority under international law,” the Pentagon spokesman said. “They require any vessel transiting the NSR through international waters to have a Russian pilot onboard to guide the vessel. Russia is also attempting to require foreign vessels to obtain permission before entering the NSR.” The senior State Department official added: “The Russian assertions about the Northern Sea Route is most certainly an effort to lay down some rules of the road, get some de facto acquiescence on the part of the international community, and then claim this is the way things are supposed to work.” Elizabeth Buchanan, lecturer of Strategic Studies at Deakin University, Australia, said that “basic geography affords Russia the NSR which is increasingly seeing thinner ice for more of the year making it commercially viable to use as a transport artery. This might yet transform global shipping, and with it the movements of 90+% of all goods globally.” The State Department official believes the Russians are mostly interested in exporting hydrocarbons — essential to the country’s economy — along the route, but also in the resources being uncovered by the fast melt. The flexing of their military muscles in the north — key to Moscow’s nuclear defense strategy, and also mostly on Russian coastal territory — could be a bid to impose their writ on the wider area, the official said. “When the Russians are testing weapons, jamming GPS signals, closing off airspace or sea space for exercises, or flying bombers over the Arctic along the airspace of allies and partners, they are always trying to send a message,” the official added. Among these new weapons is the Poseidon 2M39. The plans for this torpedo were initially revealed in an apparently purposeful brandishing of a document discussing its capabilities by a Russian general in 2015. It was subsequently partially dismissed by analysts as a ‘paper tiger’ weapon, meant to terrify with its apocalyptic destructive powers that appear to slip around current treaty requirements, but not to be successfully deployed. Yet a series of developments in the Arctic, including, according to Russian media reports, the testing of up to three Russian submarines designed to carry the stealth weapon, which has been suggested to be 20 meters long, have now led analysts to consider the project real and active. The Belgorod, a key submarine intended to be armed with the torpedo, will undergo important testing in May, according to a TASS report, although officials in the report stressed that it would not be related to the Poseidon’s development. Russia insists motives are peaceful and economic Russia’s foreign ministry declined to comment, yet Moscow has long maintained its goals in the Arctic are economic and peaceful. A March 2020 document by Kremlin policymakers presented Russia’s key goals in an area behind 20% of its exports and 10% of its GDP. The strategy focuses on ensuring Russia’s territorial integrity and regional peace. It also expresses the need to guarantee high living standards and economic growth in the region, as well as developing a resource base and the NSR as “a globally competitive national transport corridor.” Putin regularly extols the importance of Russia’s technological superiority in the Arctic. In November, during the unveiling of a new icebreaker in St. Petersburg, the Russian President said: “It is well-known that we have a unique icebreaker fleet that holds a leading position in the development and study of Arctic territories. We must reaffirm this superiority constantly, every day.” Putin said of a submarine exercise last week in which three submarines surfaced at the same time in the polar ice: “The Arctic expedition … has no analogues in the Soviet and the modern history of Russia.” Manash Protim Boruah, a submarine expert at Jane’s Fighting Ships, said: “The reality of the weapon is clear. You can absolutely see development around the torpedo, which is happening. There is a very good probability that the Poseidon will be tested, and then there is a danger of it polluting a lot. Even without a warhead, but definitely with just a nuclear reactor inside.” Boruah said some of the specifications for the torpedo leaked by the Russians were optimistic and doubted it could reach a speed of 100 knots (around 115 miles per hour) with a 100MW nuclear reactor. He added that at such a speed, it would probably be detected quite easily as it would create a large acoustic signature. “Even if you tone it down from the speculation, it is still quite dangerous,” he said. Graphic: Henrik Pettersson, CNN Boruah added that the construction of storage bays for the Poseidon, probably around Olenya Guba on the Kola Peninsula, were meant to be complete next year. He also expressed concerns about the Tsirkon hyper-sonic missile that Russia says it has tested twice already, which at speeds of 6 to 7 Mach would “definitely cause a lot of damage without a particularly having big warhead itself.” Katarzyna Zysk, professor of international relations at the state-run Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, said the Poseidon was “getting quite real,” given the level of infrastructure development and testing of submarines to carry the torpedo. “It is absolutely a project that will be used to scare, as a negotiation card in the future, perhaps in arms control talks,” Zysk said. “But in order to do so, it has to be credible. This seems to be real.” Stensønes also raised the concern that testing such nuclear weapons could have serious environmental consequences. “We are ecologically worried. This is not only a theoretical thing: in fact, we have seen serious accidents in the last few years,” he said, referring to the testing of the Burevestnik missile which was reported to have caused a fatal nuclear accident in 2019. “The potential of a nuclear contamination is absolutely there.” Source link Orbem News #amassing #Arctic #military #Russia #unprecedented

Health officials across the U.S. are counting on the arrival of a second Covid-19 vaccine to boost scarce supplies and sidestep logistical issues encountered by the first vaccine, which began distribution this week.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the vaccine from Moderna Inc. MRNA -2.62% on Friday after an advisory panel recommended the agency approve its use. It will join a vaccine from Pfizer Inc. PFE -0.92% and BioNTech SE BNTX -2.06% that received authorization on Dec. 11.
The green light should nearly double this month’s expected U.S. supply of Covid-19 vaccine doses and help meet a federal goal of getting a vaccine to anyone who wants one by the spring or summer of 2021. Moderna expects to add 20 million doses of its vaccine to Pfizer’s expected U.S. supply of 25 million in December.

“The addition of the Moderna vaccine to the response will be huge,” said Claire Hannan, executive director of the Association of Immunization Managers, whose members direct state vaccination efforts. Not only will the Moderna vaccine boost the supply of doses, but also it will “be much easier to send [it] to smaller providers and rural areas,” she said.
Moderna’s vaccine has easier storage and handling requirements and will be shipped in smaller quantities, health officials say. It can be stored in most standard medical freezers, while Pfizer’s must be shipped and kept at ultracold temperatures requiring either specialized freezers or dry ice, resources more common in large hospital systems and urban areas.

Once thawed, Moderna’s vaccine can be kept refrigerated for 30 days, while Pfizer’s can stay refrigerated for only five days after thawing.
Moderna’s vaccine also can be shipped in containers with as few as 100 doses, while Pfizer’s minimum order size is about 975 doses.
Pfizer’s larger minimum order size “poses challenges especially in rural areas of the country where that volume of product is more difficult to manage,” Anita Patel, deputy of the vaccine task force at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said during an FDA advisory panel meeting on Dec. 10.
“This ultracold really, really makes it difficult to plan, based on the large quantity, and then also the ability of our partners to vaccinate during that time frame,” said Rich Lakin, immunization director for the Utah Department of Health. It is directing doses to hospitals, local health departments and pharmacies in the state.
Both vaccines are highly effective in preventing Covid-19 and use a similar gene-based technology. Pfizer’s vaccine was 95% effective at preventing disease in a study of 44,000 people, while Moderna’s was 94.1% effective in a 30,000-person study. Both vaccines were developed and tested at unprecedented speed.
Both vaccines also require people to come back three or four weeks later for a second dose. However, Moderna’s can be injected into people as is, while Pfizer’s has to be diluted in a separate solution before injection.
“Moderna definitely makes it easier from a logistics standpoint,” said Kristen Ehresmann, director of the infectious disease division with the Minnesota Department of Health. “It will help to fill in gaps for greater Minnesota, for the more rural parts of our state. Some areas of the state may not have access until the Moderna vaccine comes along.”
Federal and state officials said they have shaped their distribution strategies around the different features of the vaccines.

A Pfizer spokesman said the company’s supply-chain infrastructure is designed to ensure that people can get access to vaccine doses that meet its temperature requirements. A Moderna spokesman said the company has worked to improve the storage and shipping requirements for its vaccine, and stability testing this year has shown that it can be kept at higher temperatures.
A Covid-19 vaccine authorization is Moderna’s first government clearance for a drug or vaccine in the 10 years since the company was formed to try to exploit an emerging gene-based technology. Anticipation of the Covid-19 vaccine has catapulted Moderna into the ranks of the most highly-valued drug companies, giving it a market capitalization of $54 billion.
The authorization also validates the gene-based technology that Moderna has used to develop more than 20 other products for various diseases. FDA approval signals that the technology could yield future vaccines and drugs using the same basic building blocks behind the Covid-19 vaccine.
Moderna and Pfizer are ramping up production, but so far the U.S. has committed to buying more of Moderna’s vaccine. On Dec. 11, the U.S. government agreed to double its purchase of Moderna’s vaccine to 200 million doses by the end of June. Pfizer has agreed to supply 100 million doses, though federal officials are in talks to secure additional doses, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar told reporters on Wednesday.
Initially, when supplies are limited, both vaccines are being reserved for health-care workers and residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. As more doses become available, next in line are expected to be other essential workers, like police and teachers, senior citizens and people with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe Covid-19 disease.
Additional vaccines could also boost the mass immunization campaign if they prove successful in testing and are authorized for use.
Johnson & Johnson is testing a single-dose vaccine and expects to have results of a study of its vaccine in more than 40,000 people in January. That vaccine, unlike Pfizer’s and Moderna’s, wouldn’t require patients to take a second dose, and the company may seek U.S. authorization in February, if results are positive.

Fantasy Football Headset 2020; What I'd Do (Coin Collusion)
[12 team league, 25 man rosters, 5 taxi spots, start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex, 1DST, 1K]
The last team in the take over is the team everyone is chasing. A monster starter draft has lead to three Dynasty championships in four seasons. This team has been number one from the beginning of the league and got off to such an advantage being the pole setter regularly drafting for depth instead of needing to fill out their lineup.
With some more shrewd off season trades this team added J.K. Dobbins, Ke'Shawn Vaughn, Denzel Mims, Bryan Edwards, Cole Kmet, Quintez Cephus and Jordan Love. That's on top of grabbing Scotty Miller, Braxton Berrios and Isiah Ford early in waiver claims. All of that was added to team fresh off another championship so it's already a loaded team.
However, the biggest addition started the arms race, sending two 1st round picks, Preston Williams and Calvin Ridley away for Saquon Barkley. At the time it looked like a team that was going to run away with the championship. In fact with that monster trade Coin Collusion was able to flip Leonard Fournette for two 1st round picks to recoup from the trade, but still lost in week one. and lost Barkley and week two and is starting off 0-2.
This team is reeling a bit but still has Zeke, Jerrick McKinnon, Dobbins, James White, Wayne Gallman and Carlos Hyde at RB. Definitely thin at the position but still has a stud at Zeke as a stud at the position and got a boost with the 49ers injuries to McKinnon. Trading Fournette was a risk to depth but getting two 1st round picks allows them to get in the market.
With three WR and two flex positions in the starting lineup teams can make up some lack of depth at RB with strong WR and this team is still loaded. Mike Evans, Allen Robinson, D.J. Chark, Diontae Johnson, Julian Edelman, John Brown, Berrios, Edwards, Ford, Miller, Chris Hogan, Kendrick Bourne, Cephus, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Antonio Brown. It's hard to watch Ridley go off, especially with Barkley lost for the year, but this is an absolutely loaded team. There's plenty of depth their to make a move with those two 1st round picks.
It also helps with this team loaded at TE. George Kittle is one of the original royal three at TE and Hunter Henry is at the back up. Even with Kittle hurt this team isn't suffering at the position Kmet is also an interesting long term piece. The depth at WR and TE allow that flex position, where a lot of teams are feeling a stretch with the newly added second flex spot, be still a point of strength.
Tom Brady has gotten off to a slow start but most expect him to figure it out as he gets more comfortable in the 'Tompa' offense with all those weapons. Drew Lock is an interesting back up, though another injury early in the season, makes the position a little thin. Love is a long term piece but this team can afford to wait that one out and will be in a position to grab a QB in what expected to be another loaded rookie draft class.
Losing Barkley would be a huge boost to any team, likely sinking them to possibly out of the playoffs, but this team has the depth to potentially weather out the storm. Even after trading Ridley and Williams the WR position is stacked. This team has a 1st and 2nd rounder in 2020 and 2021 but missing the 3rd and 4th in 2020. He also has two 3rd rounders in 2021 so even after swinging the big trade there is still draft pick capital to swing a trade at the RB position for an extremely tough roster.
The problem is this team kicked off an arms race (Barkley, Fournette, Kelce, Drake all traded) and has found some more competition at the top after starting the arms race. However, this team still came in at the pole position and will at least find itself in the final four. How aggressive do you want to be? If Dobbins comes on at the end of the season that would be a big cover for losing Barkley but maybe this team has some buyer's remorse and wants to still be able to load up in the draft (they regularly get player's at the end of the 1st and beginning of the 2nd that have built that depth).
Winning three of the first four championships allows this team to not hit the panic button and not feel the pressure to finally break through. But this team is still at the top and it's hard to punt on a championship quality team, though what's left to trade for? Early on teams may not be ready to sell, but this team has the assets to entice any team closer to the trade deadline.
You definitely don't want to hit the panic button, even after the 0-2 start, especially with several teams already punting on 2020. This is a playoff team but I think it's a deep breath and you let the ship right with the amount of talent and see what comes on the market.
Maybe this team doesn't win championship number four, but it's still a threat and isn't leaving the top of the power rankings any time soon. Coin Collusion still has a 1st and 2nd round pick in the next two drafts and will have to probably make a move with some roster cuts before next season so expect another big off season as the top dog of the league.
