"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving."  -Albert Einstein
Obscure was shot along the Arakawa River in the first area I lived in Tokyo (Adachi-ku). My film uses bicycles as a surrogate for an absent father. At the time I was interested in the Chinese 5th generation director Chen Kaige's film "Yellow Earth" and although the compositions ended a tad closer to the rule of thirds I liked his compositions based off of traditional Chinese painting taking the rule a bit more extreme. I like the idea of the solid lines guiding the film's compositions with the protagonist in the middle between nothingness and earth. While the spatial rigor and traditional aspect ratio were inspired by classic Japanese cinema, the in between shots were drawn from Japanese literary motifs. For example the cut to the river symbolizing permanent change once the father leaves, etc. The film is a memory and like a memory it is fuzzy so I shot it out of focus which was also to deny the fact I was using a rather expensive RED as I truly believe cinema is about ideas and not tech (tech can help express them, but certainly not the entire point). The last shot makes up the film's only close-up and is in focus, also highlighting the make up job I did on the actor lol. This all served in creating the atmosphere of Obscure.

If you don't care much about property value, a used condominium a bit out of the city center is a good value. For convenience, how about within 5 minutes from the station and on the east side of Tokyo? 35 million yen, built in 1996, 3 min. from Chiyoda Line Machiya, Arakawa-ku, 51m2 2LDK, 10th floor

Japan you don't know. Originally the guardian deity of the templeA small shrine located quietly a few minutes walk from Nippori Station. As you would expect from an urban shrine, it is sandwiched between two parking lots.Even though this is a small shrine, it is a historic sanctuary.Kaji Inari Shrine 2-50 Nishi-Nippori, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo

The genocide of Koreans by the Japanese occurred during the Great Kanto Earthquake of September 1923.
Japanese demagoguery against Korean residents was initiated. The ghastly, human-worst acts took place mainly on the riverbanks.
One hundred years have passed since then.
The background music used was from the soundtrack of ‘Hotel #Rwanda’.
Photo taken on September 8, 2018, at one of the genocide sites, Arakawa riverbed, Yahiro, Sumida-ku, Tokyo. Japan.
The monument to mourn is too small.

Finding Rentals in Central Tokyo - Azabu Juban and Shirokane
Finding the right place to live in Tokyo is a big challenge. The best way is to do some research online and familiarize yourself with the main real estate agents in your chosen neighborhood. Most sites are user-friendly and offer you a good overview of what is available in your price range. You can also filter for rental properties by room type and number of bedrooms. This is really handy, as it saves you from scrolling through endless results that don't fit your criteria. Check their site to know more details 東京都心の賃貸.
Rentals in central Tokyo like Azabu Juban and Shirokane are popular with foreigners looking for high-end living near some of the city's most famous attractions. For example, Roppongi Hills is home to luxury shopping and restaurants, while the fashionable Meguro-dori and Platinum-dori areas boast designer boutiques. The Take-no-Yu onsen in the heart of Azabu-juban is a hidden gem that has been in operation for over a century, and its hot spring water is famed for healing the skin.
If you are looking for a more affordable option, consider the suburban areas of Tokyo. They are much less expensive than the central six wards, but still have easy access to the main train lines and plenty of stores.
The cheapest districts (or "ku") are those further north and east of the city center, including Adachi-ku, Arakawa-ku, Kita-ku, Itabashi-ku, Nerima-ku, and Suginami-ku. They are also less densely populated, so there is more space to spread out. They are also home to some of the most famous parks in Tokyo, such as Meguro-ku and Nerima-ku Park.
Another option is to find a share house or private flat in the suburbs. This is a great option for families or those who prefer a more home-like environment. However, it's worth noting that share houses are more expensive than renting a normal apartment in the suburbs, and you will usually need to pay a guarantor fee of 0.5-1 month's rent.
When it comes to longer-term apartment rentals, the most important factor is location. You should try to get as close to your local train station as possible, since this will allow you to travel easily into central Tokyo without paying too much for transport. Also, try to choose a area that has a unique downtown or shopping district, so you'll have more options for dining and nightlife.
If you are not planning on buying property, renting an apartment for a long period of time in Japan is the most cost-effective option. Unlike in the West, most apartments in Japan are unfurnished and you'll need to furnish them yourself, so be sure to budget for this. In addition to the monthly rent, you'll need to pay a deposit, key money and an agent or guarantor fee. However, many rental agencies or shared homes offer all-inclusive packages where you can avoid these start-up costs.

5 Chome-16-1 Nishinippori, Arakawa-ku, Tōkyō-to, Japan [Real-ESRGAN Upscaled] uploaded to reddit by u/Galapogos
i’ve probably reblogged this image in the distant past, but i recently came across it again reposted unsourced on some tumblr
reverse image search yielded but a couple archillect twitter posts and various instances of the pre-ai version on soundcloud, facebook and hd-wallpaper hawkers
Tumblr media
the ai upscaled and recoloured hi-res image up at the top is a pretty fair use case of ai as a tool it seems
entirely possible the redditor is the photographer since they knew where this photo was taken, but i doubt it since they’re using an ai upscaler on an image they would have originated
