Confidants in P5X

Overall, Confidants in P5X are very similar to how they functioned in P5, but there are a few significant differences. Most notably, Confidants are not associated with particular Arcana, and consist of 20 ranks instead of just ten, though only 10 ranks actually progress their storyline.

Confidants also take much, much longer to rank up. Choosing correct answers in their rank-up events isn't enough; especially later on in the Confidant, it tends to require going places with a Confidant many times, and/or lavish presents worth a lot of points, to actually rank them up.

Another major difference is the Confidant menu:

In order: Merope, Yaoling Li, Motoha Arai, Tomoko Noge, YUI, Kayo Tomiyama, Shun Kanou, Ruferu, Kiyoshi Kurotani, Yuumi Shiina, Ayaka Sakai.

Besides looking very different, a lot more information is contained in this menu: you can see how close you are to ranking up and if anything is blocking you from ranking up (for instance, needing a higher social stat, or a specific Persona for Merope), check the next major bonus you'll get from them, and there are pages for their favorite presents (the heart icon), all the rewards you'll be able to get throughout their Confidant (the present icon), and information about the character, their thoughts on certain things, and a summary of their Confidant (the file icon; gradually unlocked over the course of the Confidant).

Future Confidants include Toshiya Sumi and Kotone Montagne.

The currently romanceable Confidants are: Yaoling Li, Motoha Arai, Tomoko Noge, Yuumi Shiina, Ayaka Sakai, and Miyu Sahara. Information posts have indicated that Kotone Montagne will also be dateable, and YUI may also have a romance route added later.

Pursuing a romance with a character alters the rewards you receive from the last few ranks of their Confidant, and also turns the UI for their Confidant page pink and heart-themed. If the Confidant isn't romanceable, or the player chooses not to date them, the UI instead turns blue and star-themed. Merope, strangely, takes on the UI change from dating a Confidant even though she herself isn't technically dateable (note the rewards in her second screenshot are marked with stars, not hearts).

Motoha, Tomoko, Shun, Kiyoshi, and Ayaka are available after school, while Merope, Yaoling, Kayo, and Miyu are available in the evening, and YUI and Yuumi are available at night.

Ruferu is currently the only Confidant tied into the story.

my opinion: facial expressions on point, choreography is cool and nice, suyeon's flip is impressive and i'm proud that she did it even though she struggled before and that's it i guess...not many ,,wow" factors, but a nice performance overall.

my opinion: damn. so many amazing vocalists here, i don't think i can pick one mvp! an jeongmin's voice is heavenly and REINAAAAAA oh my gosh. i'm impressed by yurina's vocals, she's a good singer but to be honest, i would love the performance even more if hyewon and yurina switched parts haha the c-girls did a really nice job rapping too!

my opinion: oh no, getting the side to side flashbacks with underage girls doing these concepts but this was actually better than i expected! dayeon really did her best with the choreo and i can gurantee that she won't stay 9th. i think ruan overdid the facial expressions but i won't be mad at her ok? lol overall, a nice performance and tammy's energy!!!!

my opinion: oh dear, here we go. this is objectively the worst performance of this round even though it hurts me to say that because kotone was lit. jiao, what were you thinking going for rap when you have no experience in rapping? funny thing is, they're saying they aren't cute but in reality, cute is the only way to describe this...it's sad but this is a no-no. respect for trying tho.

my opinion: i didn't expect this one to be this amazing but yeah here we are! although i didn't have high expectations for xingqiao, she really did great and i think it's her best performance so far. sad that miu got no screentime but yeyoung get that angel edit!!!

my opinion: nOegEee no ok sorry ;-; shana you did great! the song is ridiculously high and even though jiyoon didn't hit that high note, i think she did so well and her face at the end almost made me cry, gosh i'm so emo. chaehyun is main vocal material! and for once the judges praised the girls, finally!

Organisers of South East Asia’s biggest and most prestigious Japanese Pop Culture event shared extensive updates on festival and concert elements today, as well as a line-up of the anime industry’s behind-the- scenes talent who will grace the festival as guests. With premiere screenings, day stage programmes, competitions and dedicated experiential zones, the three-day festival from 29 November to 1 December 2019 will be a celebration of the latest and best curated content and experiences for anime fans and Japanese pop culture enthusiasts.
