Had some more thoughts about the new LOTR movie "The Hunt for Gollum" and which characters are likely in it besides him. Putting this behind a cut for spoilers, though if you read the books and/or watched the fan film of the same name on YT you'll know a few. That being said I do think they'll expand this with more plots and add more characters both from the movies and the books, also since this is just the first of at least 2 new movies coming. I've also included a fancast here for 2 roles I hope are finally cast for this and weren't in the movies.
First is Aragorn. He's a major part of this and likely will be one of the main characters that carries over into the 2nd of these new films. Highly doubt it'd be a de-aged Viggo so we're likely going to get a younger British actor here. It's hard to fancast since we don't know the age range they'll be looking for, but something tells me it'll be a 30something actor especially with how many of these movies they're planning. Did see a fan suggest that Viggo can play older Aragorn telling this story to his children, so we'd get 2 Aragorns connecting it which I like.
Arwen is next. She wasn't in the story, but we know her and Aragorn's relationship began around the same time. There's been rumors these movies were going to feature younger versions of the characters last year, so this fits too. Plus, they need a female lead and their romance is one of the popular ships. Like above I think they'll cast a younger actress that resembles Liv, but like the fan suggested Liv could also play older Arwen.
If it sticks to the story Gandalf will be in this too as he tasks Aragon with finding Gollum. Now I can see Ian agreeing to having himself de-aged for this but not sure if they need that as I don't think he looks that different. The story is more about Gollum and Aragorn, so he'd be in a few scenes.
Next is Legolas. He's in the story too and would show more about his and Aragorn's friendship. Would be interesting if Orlando would come back too as I think he'd be ok with getting de-aged too but only slightly for him as he just looks a bit older.
Then this could be where we finally get Arwen's twin brothers Elladan and Elrohir!!! 😀 A lot of us always wanted them in the movies and it is strange they were cut out (though some think they are in the background of a few scenes). They're close friends of Aragorn too and easily could assist him in this. This is where my fancast comes in as both Harris Dickinson and George Mackay popped in my head to play them. Both are talented rising British actors, have dark hair and blue eyes, are tall, and I think look like Liv's Arwen, as well as the movies' Elrond, Galadriel, and Celeborn to look related to them. Also, Harris and George get confused for each other a lot (and played the same character as Harris couldn't be in the feature film version of "Femme", which he did the short film, and the recast him with George) and some thought they were brothers. They could just get one of them to play both if they want identical, but some fans think they're fraternal but do still resemble each other so two actors who look alike work too.
Then if Elrond, Galadriel (I'm certain Cate could still play her), Celeborn, or anyone else from the original LOTR movies are in this, or other characters from the books they could also add that weren't like Glorfindel for one.
Finally Sauron. There's a part of this story where Gollum is taken and Sauron himself tortures him to find out where the ring is. Gollum even explains he saw Sauron in full form and that he was missing a finger and spoke to him. So will they get Benedict Cumberbatch back to voice Sauron and/or actually play him in live-action as so far only "Rings of Power" have had an actor playing where you can see his face.

“You know, that Legolas is watching you since the beginning of this dinner?” Haldir asked, directly at my ear, to avoid the other elves to hear our conversation. I didn’t turn my head towards him and just nodded: “Do you wish me to talk to him?”
Haldir shook his head. “No. I know, that you already told him, to not take any further actions, that might ruin your friendship. But I can also see, how much you desire each other.”
“That’s not true!” I turned around a frown on my face. “I only love you, herven. There is no other man than you.”
He smiled at my words. “I never doubted that, my starlight.”
“Then why are you saying such horrendous things?”
“Because I have eyes.” He simply answered pulling me into a tight hug. “I love you and I would never restrict your decisions.”
I tried to look at him, but he kept me to his chest. “Be assured, that I would never act on a simple attraction.”
Now he let go of me, bowing his head once more, a cocky smile on his lips. “I know. But I would.” My face fell white, not sure how to take his words. Did he admit, he had another woman whilst we were married? “Did you…?” I couldn’t bring myself to form the words, fearing if I were to say it, it would turn to reality. Haldir caught on, what I was thinking and was holding back a laughter. “Bereth. Why is it, that this beautiful head of yours sometimes tends to think the worst? Not once in the 60 years of our marriage was I unfaithful.”
I let out a long breath. “Thank God.” Trying to hide my embarrassment, of assuming Haldir would to such things, I took a sip of my wine. He stroked my face. “I simply wanted to tell you, that I have taken action of asking Legolas to join us tonight.”
I nearly choked on the wine. “You what?” My voice was hoarse, jumping into a higher octave, alerting some other elves around us. Lindir, the servant of Lord Elrond approached us, bowing his head. “Is everything alright, my lady?”
Not wanting the situation to become a spectacle I nodded. “Yes, Lindir. Everything is fine. I was just surprised, that’s all.” I put a hand on his shoulder. “Your concern is appreciated, but not needed.”
With a light nod, Lindir bowed and retracted to the edge of the platform. I grabbed Haldir by the arm and pulled out of the room. When I was sure, we were outside of the hearing range, I turned to face him. “Why on earth would you do such a thing?”
“Because you wish for it to happen.” He simply stated not showing any regret on his face. I looked behind him and saw several eyes watching the conversation between me and my husband. “Are they able to hear us?” I asked and Haldir shook his head. I let out a low groan. “I don’t desire Legolas the way you think. You are enough for me. And I am sorry, if I ever made you think any different.”
“You believe, I am purely doing it for you.” He concluded from my reaction.
“Of course, I do! What else am I supposed to expect?” I threw my hands in the air, forgetting I was holding a goblet of wine, nearly spilling it. A large group was now watching us from the higher platform, where the dinner was hosted, but I didn’t care. I put down the goblet and started to walk in circles around the water fountain in the middle of the balcony type of thing Haldir and I fled to.
“I am sorry, for not being as precise as possible in my explanation.” Haldir started. “But I am not solely doing it for you. Don’t take that wrong, but I was thinking about bringing in another person for a long time. And the fact, that you and Legolas share some kind of physical attraction just suited my decision.”
I stopped dead in my tracks. Not knowing what to respond to that, I just stared at him, like a deer would stare at its predator. Slowly he approached me taking my face in his hands. “You don’t have to consent to my request. It was nothing more than a thought, that I let myself take actions on.” Putting my hands over his I smiled at him. “Okay.”
“What?” He clearly was caught off guard by my agreement.
“I said it is okay. Now you made me curious and I want to try it. I trust your love and your decision to not let it ruin our marriage.” I gave his hand a small kiss. “And now tell me, nin herven. What did the poor Legolas answer to your offer?”
Haldir began to smile at the thought it. “I think I frightened him to death. We were training alone late at night and I had him pinned to the floor, when I asked him. I believe he thought I would murder him, for desiring my wife, so him getting offered a night with you, caught him off guard.”
I shook my head. “You had to scare him, didn’t you?” Haldir just grinned a boyish smile. “If I am not mistaken, I am still your husband. The man who promised to protect and love you for eternity. So, excuse my attempt to do so, by simply taking the lead.”
“And you think making Legolas believe he is about to die is achieving that? I am sure the poor ellon will never talk to me again.” I scolded him.
“He consented.”
“What?”
“Legolas consented.” He repeated. I let go of Haldir, not sure if I was to smile or to run off. “He is currently waiting for your approval. So, when you are ready, just ask him.”
“That was unexpectedly simple.” I said, rubbing my face. Taking my goblet, I started to walk back. Haldir at my heels. “Where are you going?”
Pretending it was a mistake, I let my fingers wander over his crotch, forcing a hitched breath out of Haldir. “If I am not mistaken, we have a dinner to attend to. And besides that, I am not drunk enough to have the courage to talk to Legolas.”
A few glasses of wine later, I found myself to be a little tipsy. Glad that I finally grew accustom to the strength of elven wine I was now able to drink it pure and not dilute it with water. A newly grown confidence in my chest, I walked over to Legolas, who was conversing with Lord Elrond. Both were watching Aragon and Arwen dance in the middle of the garden surrounded by other elven pairs.
“You are a great father.” I stated drawing their attention towards me. Lord Elrond tilted his head, looking at me with meaningful eyes. “What do you mean by that, my lady?” I pointed towards the newlywed couple with my head. “Letting your daughter marry the man she loves, becoming a mortal woman. Even if that means you will inevitably lose her. Not many fathers would do such a thing. Especially including the fact, you are born royal.”
“Every father would accommodate the wishes of his daughter.” Lord Elrond contradicted, which led to a half-hearted smile on my side. “My father did not. He married my older sister off to strengthen the diplomatic bond to one of our associates. She was 16 he was 20 when they married. My sister, Inerys, she wrote several letters explaining how he would hit her, and force himself on her, but my father never budged one bit.”
Legolas and Elrond looked at me with wide eyes, as I continued my story.
“One day Inerys had enough. She killed herself and her two sons at the age of 20. Writing a last letter directly to me, telling me, what he did to her and why she ended her misery. A few months later we received a request that this man wanted to marry me as soon as I would be old enough. I was scared to death, the same would happen to me, as I was only 10 years old at that time. So, I showed my mother the last letter I received from my sister. My mother had a big fight with my father that night, saying she would rather run away with me, than give me into the hands of that monster.
I don’t exactly recall, what she did to change the mind of my father, but somehow, she managed to do it. Weeks later we found ourself at war with the nilfgaardian kingdom. Our castle was under siege for days, before they managed to breach the walls and burning it to the ground. My parents were killed that day and I was saved by a man I would gladly call my father, since he did a much better job than my real father. He kept me hidden for years, training me so I would be able to survive and fight. I believe Lady Galadriel told my story to the royal elves?”
Lord Elrond nodded. A sad look in his eyes. “I didn’t know about that part of your live. She didn’t mention it.”
I smiled at him briefly. “That’s because I didn’t tell her. Only Haldir knows. And I would appreciate if it would stay between the four of us. This part of my life lays in the past and must not be evoked anymore.”
“Of course, my lady.” With that Lord Elrond bowed his head leaving me and Legolas by ourself.
I took a large sip of my wine, emptying the goblet and putting it on the table next to me. “I think you owe me a dance, my prince.” Legolas smiled at me holding out his hand. “As you wish, my lady.” I took his hand letting him lead me to the dance floor. I looked around finding Haldirs watchful eyes on my body. I winked at him, signaling what my attempt was and fetched myself a low smile from him.
Letting Legolas turn us around I waited until we were at a rather unfilled part of the dance floor. “I heard; you had a talk with my husband.” I said not looking into his eyes. But based on the fact, that his fingers were twitching at my hip and grasping my hand tighter, I figured he knew very well, what I meant. He didn’t answer so I decided to push forward.
“I consent to do it.” I simply stated, now watching his face extensively.
His façade fell a split second showing both fear and desire. “You must not pressure yourself, Visha. I am not in a position to claim such thing.”
“You are claiming nothing, Legolas. You have been offered.” I said, ending the dance an pulling him behind towards the exit, calling Haldir on plan with a slight nod.
We got some weird looks from some of the elves, but as soon as Haldir joined our sides, the looks were gone. I cuddled into the arm, that Haldir offered as he led us through the paths of Imraldis (Rivendell in common tongue). Legolas looked like he was still evaluating the offer. I tried to ease his mind: “You don’t have to do it, mellon.” I said using the elvish word for friend wisely to state our relationship. “If you feel like it would change the dynamic of our friendship, you are free to leave.”
We finally reached the small guest Talan, where Haldir and I were staying. Legolas’ wasn’t that far off, so nobody really thought something about him accompanying us. “That’s not what I am worried about.” Legolas swerved entering the room. “Then what is troubling you?” I asked, letting go of Haldir and grabbing Legolas hands to give him some sort of security. He started to stutter: “Its… I have... I have never been this intimate with a woman before.”
“Oh.” Taking a few steps back I turned around to seek help from Haldir, but he just shrugged his shoulders. Great. “I simply thought you would have done such things already; you know based on your age.”
Legolas let out a small laugh. “Yeah, I am a late bloomer, I know. But the woman I believed to love fell for a dwarf back in the day when we were taking Erebor back from Smaug.” He just stood there looking to the floor, probably waiting for our rejection. But I decided different: “I don’t care about your experience, as long as you are comfortable with it.”
Haldir stepped in, putting his hands on my shoulder. “Besides that, I can teach you.” He had a dark and dominant look on his face. Legolas visibly gulped, his Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat. “Okay.” His voice was shaky, but it was obvious that he was persistent.
Haldir took of his cloak and looked at Legolas with a soft look he usually saved for me. “I am honest with you, gwanûr*. I am as dominant with Visha in the bedroom as I am with my soldiers, don’t mistake my domineering demeanor as callousness. It is simply our relationship dynamic. Do you want me to lead you through it, or do you wish to reign free on her behalf?”
Legolas eyes twitched between me and my husband, unsure what to say. I gave him a warm smile. “I think he needs to see it, herven.”
As soon as I said the words Haldirs behavior changed. “Take off your clothes. Keep the undergarments.” He commanded not looking at me. I did as I was told, kneeling besides my husband awaiting his next order. Facing Legolas, he asked: “So, how do you want to continue?”
“I think I need a little bit of guidance, since it is my first time. But I do not wish to be treated like a lesser being.” He answered.
“That’s not what this is.” I corrected his assumption. “It is merely a way for us both to fulfill our desires. Haldir does not view me as an object in his possession.”
“I do not?” Haldir chimed in clearly teasing me.
“Stop it, you menace.” I scolded him, earning a light tuck on my hair, eliciting a moan from my lips.
Haldir pulled me into a stand. “Is this the way to speak to me?” He asked and pushed me onto the bed. The air was knocked out of my lungs on impact and I didn’t have much time to settle, before Haldir was next to me. Leaning himself on the headboard, placing me between his legs. Out of reflex, I snuggled into his warm embrace, spreading my legs to give him more access.
“Such a good little girl.” He praised me, stroking my body. Legolas was still standing in the middle of the room, unsure what to do. “Come here.” Haldir called out towards the younger elf. Slowly Legolas was making his way onto the bed, like Haldir leaving his cloak and boots on the end of the bed. Kneeling between my legs, he waited for the next command.
“Kiss him.” Haldir pushed me towards Legolas. I got onto my knees as well and leaned in to kiss him, not before making sure he gave his consent. And then I crashed my lips on his. He tasted like wine and some fruits. Kissing me unbelievably soft compared to my husband. With the caution you would use on a scared animal, Legolas put his hands on my hips gripping onto them as if they were his lifeline.
I felt the bed shuffle under Haldirs weight, as he approached me from behind. In an instant Legolas backed away, giving in on the ever so present claim, my husband held over me. But I pulled him back in, deepening the kiss we were sharing, eliciting a low moan from him. Haldir had started to loosen the strings of my undergarments covering my breasts.
Once they fell to the bed, his hands were roaming over my body and he placed sweet kisses on my neck. Playing with my nipples, he sucked deep marks on my neck, making me a moaning mess in Legolas grip. He pushed his hand down and into my panties. “Look at that. Already so soaking wet. And we haven’t even started yet. What are we going to do with you, my little starlight?” Pulling me back by my hair, Haldir ended the kiss between Legolas and me, setting me once again between his legs.
He started to take my panties off, leaving me bare to Legolas eyes, forcing my legs apart with his strong thighs. “Look at her, gwanûr. Isn’t she beautiful?” Legolas eyes were trained on my body, taking in every inch of me.
“What do you want to do?” Haldir asked him. “Do you want to fuck her? Taste her? Watch me making her cum?”
Legolas eyes shot up to meet Haldirs, clearly irritated, by his use of words. “I… I want to taste her. But I don’t know how.” He answered once again looking down on me. Haldir hummed in gratitude. “Do you hear that, meleth? Do you want Legolas to make you cum? Teach him how to treat a lady?”
“Yes.” I mewled trying to close my legs for some sort of friction.
“Touch her.” Haldirs command was a low growl and Legolas obeyed without a second thought. “Push a finger inside of her and curl it upwards.” He instructed further. The intrusion of Legolas cold finger made me squirm in Haldirs arms, His movements were gentle and careful, setting a slow pace making me anticipate more. “Please… I need more.” I cried out.
Legolas added another finger, not leaving me out of his sight. And then he lowered himself down onto my core, looking at Haldir for help. Who was more than willing to give him that. “You want to find her clit. It’s a little pearl peeking out on top of her folds. Licking and lightly sucking on it will do the trick.”
And he did exactly that. It didn’t take him long to find my sweet pearl. Licking and sucking on it like it was sweet little candy. I felt the tension rise in my core, pressing myself further into Haldirs chest. Groaning at the feeling of his uniform, I tucked on it. “Let me feel you, herven.” I pressed out between shaky moans. Legolas was a natural, surely, he must have read about that topic, or at least talked with someone.
I felt Haldir shuffle behind me, struggling to get his clothes off. Leaning forward as much as possible I enabled him to somehow shimmy out of his shirt and pants, leaving him bare chested in his underwear. As soon as my back touched his chest again, I could feel his hard cock pressing into me His whole body radiated heat, calloused hands stroking over my sides, my breast, toying with my nipples. Between my legs, Legolas hit my sweet spot, making me clamp down on his fingers and arching my back. Haldir was just fast enough, to catch my hips from crashing into Legolas face.
He hummed in satisfaction. “She likes that, gwanûr.” Instead of answering, Legolas did the same movement again, fetching a moan from my lips. The tension in my stomach was on the edge of snapping. I could feel the juices leaking out of my core, sense the way Legolas was lapping them up, moaning at the taste of it.
“Please, Legolas. I am close.” It was the first time; I directly spoke to him. His eyes snapping up to meet mine. I could see, how me moaning his name affected him, spurred him on to make me orgasm. I let my hands intertwine with his silvan locks, tugging on them. His low growl sending shivers down my spine. “Oh God, yes!” I cried out.
“Let go, gîl nin*. Cum for us.” Haldirs rough, breathy voice, combined with Legolas devouring my sex, I was pushed over the edge. My back arched, legs trembling, hands tugging on his hair, I came with a load moan. “Fuck!” I cried out, chest raising at my increased breathing speed.
Slowing his movements Legolas helped me down from my high. My brain was to mushed, to really notice, I was shifted in my position. I found myself now laying on my back, head hanging off, of the side of the bed. Haldir was kneeling besides me, holding my head up, stroking my cheek. “Do you want to go in full headspace, starlight?” He cooed. I hummed.
“What’s a headspace?” Legolas asked, watching the interaction closely. Haldir smirked at his words. “Watch and learn, mellon. But first take her.”
“Take her?”
“Fuck her. Ruin her. Whatever you want to call it.” Haldir repeated, a low smile on his lips. Then he looked down on me. “Tell me, gîl nin. Do you want Legolas to fuck you?”
I didn’t answer, instead, I spread my legs wider. He hummed in approval. “Good girl. Make him cum for me, would you? Show him what a filthy little slut you are.” I nodded eagerly, hearing Legolas shuffle out of his clothes. I felt the bed dip under his weight, not being able to detach my eyes from my husband. He gripped my neck, putting light pressure on the sides, while Legolas inched his cock into my core.
“Such a good girl.” Haldir hummed in my ear. “Taking Legolas so well.” Loosening his hand he allowed two breaths, before he shut it down again. Legolas stayed immobile for a moment, cursing under his breath at the feeling of my twitching walls. I was still sensitive from the previous orgasm. His cock was average sized with a thick shaft stretching my walls with a sweet tang of pain.
“Before you start. There are two important things. When I tip her into headspace, we use safe words. They are important for our, especially her, safety. First, we have malen* it means she needs a break. Simply just stop what you do, let her regain her senses and ask, if she wants to continue. Second one is the most important. It is caran*. When she uses it, you stop what you are doing and let go of her. Doesn’t matter what you do, or how it feels. You end it right there. Also, when I call it off, you stop, understood?”
Legolas nodded looking between me and Haldir. “Good. You can use those words like her, if you feel like it is too hard for you, or if you are uncomfortable with the whole setting. Because what I am going to do to her might seem, like it crosses lines, or her reaction might look like she doesn’t want it. But as long as she doesn’t use her safe words, she is fine with it.”
He let go, of my neck, allowing me to breathe. With a nod he commanded Legolas to start. At first, he set a slow gentle pace, testing mine and his limits. Haldir smothered my face and my neck with kisses, pushing two fingers inside my mouth. I choked as he forced them down my throat, clamping down on Legolas cock, which made him splutter a shaky fuck. “Take it, meleth nin. You are going to be a good girl and take what I give you, understood?”
“Yes.” I answered, falling into my headspace. A sharp slap on my cheek ripped me back to reality. “Yes, what?”
“Yes, Commander.” A loud moan stumbled over my lips, as Legolas hit my sweet spot in the right angle. “Please, I need more.”
“Look at her begging, mellon. Isn’t she beautiful, like that?” Haldir had a feisty grin on his lips, as he spoke to Legolas. The other ellon let out a low grunt.
“You want him to ruin you, meleth? Beg for it. Show him, what a good girl you can be.”
“Please, Legolas. I need…” Another sharp slap interrupted me.
“Did I allow you to use his name?” Haldirs voice wasn’t loud, but full of dominance.
“No. I am sorry, marchwarden.” I answered feeling tears forming in my eyes. “Please, my prince. I need more. Take me. Please. I want you to fuck me harder.”
Holding on to my hips, Legolas set a faster, brutal pace, fucking me at his liking. “Oh, God.” I moan, closing my eyes at the intense feeling.
“Does it feel good?” Haldir asks getting on his knees and pushing down his pants, throwing them carelessly into a corner. “Open up, sweet star.” Obediently I open my mouth and he pushed his cock into my mouth. My eyes rolled back, loosening the muscles in my throat to let him in deeper.
“Fuck, yes, meleth.” He grunted. “Taking us both so well. God, you are so beautiful like this. So pretty with Legolas stuffing your little pussy and my cock down your throat.” He gripped my neck tightening his hands slowly, to feel him stretch my throat. I gulped around his cock and at the same time clamped down on Legolas. Which got both of them to moan at the sudden feeling. My drool was dripping down my cheeks, mixing with my tears. The only thing I could sense was the musky scent of sex and their individual notes.
Legolas was now completely losing it at the scene in front of him. How my lips were wrapped around Haldirs cock, my muffled moans the way my walls shivered with every movement. He was pounding into me like his life depended on it, chasing his own release.
A tight knot was, once again, forming in my stomach. With the way I wriggled under their hands, Haldir sensed I was getting close, spurring me on: “Go on, starlight. Come around his cock. Soak him with your juices.”
His words pushed me over the edge. A muffled cry escaped my lips, as Haldir pushed himself so deep, my nose was touching his pelvis. I was arching my back, gripping the bedsheets tightly, to ground myself.
“I am close.” Legolas whispered. A question hanging from his words.
“Cum inside of her!” Haldir ordered. Still fucking my mouth in a slow sensual way, that wouldn’t make him cum, but rather rile him up for more. He only did it, when he wanted to really ruin me. And seeing me being putty in another man’s hands probably tugged hard on his self control. Legolas was now rutting into me like an absolute madman, searching his release. Soon I could feel him twitch inside of me, making me clench down on him out of reflex. That probably made him cum. Thick robes of cum pulsating into my core, coating my walls in warm seed.
He let out a distorted moan, sinking back on his ankles. Sweat covered his whole body, his arms were shaking and if he were to stand up, he would have collapsed. His eyes were trained to the spot between my legs, where I could feel his cum trickle out.
“Everything alright, gwanûr?” Haldir asked Legolas, a slight concern hiding behind his question.
“Yes, I am alright. It was… It was amazing.” Legolas whispered, obviously in disbelief of what just happened. Haldir pulled back, leaving me now completely empty. I huffed in disapproval.
“Its alright, starlight. You want Legolas to watch us?” My face lit up at his question.
Nodding to the head of the bed, Haldir signaled Legolas to scoot over. “Come here, little one.” He called out for me. Standing at the end of the bed. I crawled over to him laying myself down, but he shook his head. “Uh uh. Get on your knees. We don’t want the prince to miss your pretty face, don’t we?”
Obeying his command, I turned around and got on my knees, ass up high in the air. He began stroking my back, admiring the view. “Fuck.” He let out a hoarse breath. “Such a beautiful pussy, dripping with cum. I want to make it mine. I want to mark you. Are you going to let me do that, sweet star?” I moaned into the bedsheets, raising my ass even higher, desperate for his touch.
But he did not satisfy my needs. Instead, he gripped my hair pulling me up to him. “Stay here.” He turned around grabbing his belt from the floor. “Give me your hands.” I obeyed him, without thinking. Once my arms were tied up, he yanked them over my head securing them on the crossbar of the bed.
“I’ll not take advantage of your trust. Submit to me, and I will feed every need you have, cherish you to the end of time.” He promised, before walking up behind me.
My gaze was now locked on Legolas who was sitting at the head of the bed, watching the scene unfold before his eyes. The hunger in his eyes was unbearably strong, raking over me, watching his cum drip out of my folds.
Haldirs hands started to slide over my body, lightly teasing my nipples, dipping into my core every now and then. Kissing down my throat nipping on my shoulder. I gasped at the sudden stab of his bite and I could feel blood run down my shoulder. His calloused hands gripping my hips tightly. “I want to hear you, meleth. Don’t hold back. Show the world what pleasure I can bring you.”
“Yes, marchwarden.” I moaned, falling deeper and deeper in the abyss of arousal.
He steps back once again. “Count.”
I couldn’t comprehend what he meant, before something snapped against my back. “One!” I breathed out, still trying to stay as silent as possible. Another whiplash hit me. “I said don’t hold back.” He growled.
“Two!” I cried out louder than before. Striking me harder, I heard Haldir sight in deep pleasure behind my back. “Three.” The pain was now subsiding into pleasure. Another hit, this time on my ass. “Four.”
“You will feel the things I did to you with every step you take, every muscle you move. You will think about me and how good I made you feel.” He snarled, striking my ass with so much force I jolted forwards. “Five!” Now I had tears forming in my eyes.  Heat was pooling between my thighs, running down my legs.
“Tell me, darling. Does this pleasure you?” Another sting across my back.
“Six! Yes, Commander!” I was now a total crying mess. Tears running over my face, slick dripping from my cunt. I opened my eyes to see Legolas watch with a mixture of horror and need, his cock getting hard again.
My knees were shaking and I was only being held up, by the ties on my wrists. Haldir was obviously not going to have mercy with me. Again and again, he whipped me, making me count to ten. By that I was completely fucked over. Red lacerations over my back and ass, eyes swollen from tears, cunt dripping from pleasure. He let the item in his hand fall to the ground detaching me from the crossbar.
I dropped into the bedsheets between Legolas legs. Haldir was behind me, raising my ass up in the air. Teasingly he rubbed his tip between my folds. “What do you want, meleth nin?”
“More. I need more.” My head was spinning and I had trouble forming straight sentences.
“Use your words, darling.” He teased a low growl in his voice.
“Inside!” I stutter. “Want to be filled by you.”
He groaned at my words, pressing me into the bed, while pushing into me and pulling out before he even stretched me the littlest amount. “Please… Please I need you, herven. I can’t… I need you to fill me up, marchwarden. Make me feel good, please.” I whimpered pushing back, trying to get him to enter me. Haldir hummed at my words. And then without warning he fully plunged into my core, pressing my head down to cease my cry.
Although Legolas already stretched me, taking Haldir was a different story. He was bigger than Legolas and didn’t care if I would be able to take him. I felt like I was split in half, but it felt so good. The way he rutted into me, setting a brutal pace, made me see stars. His hand was gripping my hair, pulling me up. One arm around my waist, the other on my throat.
“My pretty little ithil.* I am going to ruin you, fuck you as hard and long, as I want to. And you will take it.”
“Yes, Commander.”
He let me fall forward where I caught myself on my tied up hands. Legolas was slowly stroking his cock, breathing heavily. I was complete gone, trusting Haldir with my whole body. He was my rock, my protector, the love of my life and right now I felt as good as I ever had. My body was aching from pain and pleasure.
I felt another orgasm approach me. “Please, Commander. I want to cum.”
“Again? You are a little cock drunken slut, aren’t you?” He teased. “Wanting to cum over and over. What makes you think you deserve it?”
“Please. I was a good girl.” I whined.
“Yes, you were.” His voice was like dripping honey. “Can you hold on a little bit longer, for me?” He started caressing my body, sending shivers down my spine.
“Yes, I can. Everything for you, marchwarden.”
Haldir didn’t answer me, but I felt his cock twitch at my words. He was close. Grabbing me by my hip and pushing my face down into the bed, he leaned over me. Smothering my back with kisses. I flinched every time his lips touched a laceration, but it felt so good at the same time, that I was not sure to handle it any longer.
But for my luck, Haldir couldn’t either. “Cum, my starlight. Let go one last time.”
Nearly on command the coil in my stomach snapped and I let out a strangled moan. Behind me Haldir hissed and I felt his release pump into me. He held me in this position, before he signaled Legolas to get up. “Go fetch a wet cloth. We need to clean her up.”
I felt Legolas leave the room, but I didn’t care. The little bit of brain that I had left, was completely trained on Haldir and his actions. Slowly he pulled out and turned me on my back.  I stuck out my arms for him to free my hands and when he did, I reached out, tugging him to my chest. His weight on my body, released another wave of emotions, making me cry.
“You are safe, meleth nin. Everything is alright. You did good. I will protect you.” He repeated the words over and over again, until Legolas came back from the bathroom. “I am going to clean you up now, okay?”
I nodded letting go of him. The cold cloth made me flinch, but it felt good to get the sticky mixture of cum and slick from my body. When he was finished, he cleaned himself and handed the cloth back to Legolas who just put it on the counter, slipping into his clothes. “I am good I already washed myself in the bath.”
At his words I turned to face him, realizing just now, he was there. “Thank you.” I breathed out. He smiled at me kneeling down next to the bed. “Don’t thank me, my lady. I have to thank you. Trusting me so much, to let me be a part of this.” I gripped his hand, bringing it up to my face. “Will it change something?” I asked afraid of the answer. “I don’t long for you like a lover would, but I will protect you at all costs. I will always be your friend. And as long as you wish me to be part of your life, I am.” He answered. I closed my eyes in relieve. “Good. Because I really like you.” I yawned at the end of my sentence.

Day Nine: Midwinter
Fandom: The Lord of the Rings (Over the Mountain and Through the Wood)
Summary: Aragorn arrives at Thranduil's palace to celebrate the mindwinter feast with Legolas.
(Note: I have an upcoming series called "Over the Mountain and Through the Wood" that's basically a fantasy adventure series of Legolas and Aragorn's adventures in Middle-Earth. It's less angsty than the Mellon Chronicles, and has a lot of headcanon I've developed. I'll list the ones from this story at the end.)
* * *
“Aragorn! You made it!” Legolas held his arms out in a welcoming gesture as he swept into the room. “Old Bellyacher thought for sure the storm would keep you away. You earned me a new belt, my friend.”
The ranger let out a snort of laughter at his friend's antics. “Your brother was betting against me?” The thought of Belegdur, Legolas's stern older brother, doing something as trivial as betting whether a guest would arrive before a winter storm seemed uncharacteristic.
“Well, he doesn't know about your winter horse,” Legolas explained. He folded his arms and leaned against the wall, watching the attendant take Aragorn's wet and muddy boots and cloak away to be cleaned and dried. The ranger was now wearing a pair of stiff, soft-soled leather shoes like most of the inhabitants of Thranduil's keep. Not that boot were forbidden, but tramping around an underground fortress in wet footwear was distinctly uncomfortable.
“And you didn't tell him about Song,” Aragorn guessed. For most of the year he rode a bay gelding that had been a gift from his foster father, Eldrond of Rivendell. But in the winter, when the snows of the north washed up in drifts as high as a man's head, most of the rangers turned to the sturdy, powerful animals favored by the local farmers. Song of Thunder was a tall, broad-shouldered mare with the strong build of her sires, a thick mane and tail, and long forelocks that nearly brushed the ground. The war horses of the north were not as fast as the steeds of Rohan, but they were strong and dependable and much more suited for the perilous winter weather.
“Why would I give away my advantage?” his friend asked, pulling Aragorn into an embrace. “Besides, he hated that belt and I needed a gift for Bard next time I go to Dale. Now everyone's happy.”
Aragorn shook his head and looped his pack over one shoulder. “Even Belegdur.”
“He's happy in his way,” Legolas replied airily, leading the way through the halls to the chambers that were reserved for Aragorn's visits. The ranger looked around happily, admiring the palace of the Elvenking in winter. Bright-colored tapestries were hung on the walls to block the chill in the stone and fires were lit in every hearth. The wood-elves moved into the palace for the long, bitter winter, and thus the halls were filled with merry voices and laughter.
“I had hot water sent up,” the elf added as they reached Aragorn's room. “You can wash and change before we join my father and the others.”
“Thank you,” Aragorn's shoulders relaxed in relief when he entered the room. The fire was burning to warm the chamber, and the walls were blanketed in swirling designs of blue and silver, as a nod to the household of Elrond. “That one's new,” he remarked, nodding at one of the tapestries. It was of a silvery tree, with stars peering out through the gaps between its branches.
“Ah, yes. Tathariel's betrothed made that,” Legolas called, as Aragorn slipped behind the room's dressing screen. There was a basin of steaming water next to a small table, where towels and a shaving razor had been laid out.
“Tathariel?” Aragorn frowned to himself. He remembered the name, but not the elf in question.
“She works the northern watch patrol. I think you've met her.”
Aragorn nodded silently. He wiped off the dust and sweat of travel—the palace had indoor baths, but they were not in use at this time of day, so this would have to be enough—and quickly scraped away the stubble on his chin and cheeks. He would have to hope the clothes in his pack weren't too wrinkled...though he doubted there was anything to match the finery of court. Legolas had assured him that the midwinter celebrations were not a formal event, and he wanted to trust his friend...but an elf's definition of “not formal” might not be in line with that of a ranger's.
He stepped back around the screen, wiping the last of the water off his face. Legolas had been busy laying clothes out on the bed—trousers, shirt, and tunic. Not anything Aragorn had packed for the journey, and he approached the bed to stare down at the clothes worriedly.
There was no getting around it. He and Legolas just weren't the same size. While Aragorn was trim and fit for a human, he still had the broad-shouldered build of a man of Numenor, and Legolas had the willowy grace of an elf of Mirkwood.
“Don't look like that,” Legolas teased, flicking him on the arm with the backs of his fingers. “Father had these made for you, to keep in the palace here. He didn't want you to worry about something as trivial as clothes when you visit us.”
Aragorn sucked in a breath, glancing over at his friend. Legolas smiled fondly at him and nodded at the clothes before turning to Aragorn's pack to unload it. “Wear them well, Ranger. We do not dress all of our visitors so grandly.”
The clothes were made in the fashion of the men of Dale. A hip-length wool tunic over a loose linen shirt, both dyed in deep blue and gray. The breeches were black, and they were wool as well, which always felt a little...fragile...to Aragorn after the leathers he wore for the rangers.
“What's this?” Legolas's puzzled voice pulled Aragorn out of his thoughts. He turned around in time to see the elf pull a fabric-wrapped bundle out of the pack and lunged for it with a yelp.
“That's nothing!” Aragorn protested. Legolas held the bundle away, mischief lighting in his blue eyes.
“Nothing? It doesn't look liked nothing.”
“Give it back!”
“Doesn't feel like nothing,” Legolas hefted it in his hand a few times, easily dancing out of Aragorn's reach, then lifted it to his face for an exaggerated sniff. “Smells like leather, not nothing. I think you're lying, Ranger.”
“Legolas!” Aragorn lunged, managing to get one arm around the elf's waist. Legolas gave a shout and tossed the bundle to one side, and Aragorn managed to push the elf over before diving to catch the bundle up and hide it behind his back.
“Come now, Aragorn,” Legolas protested with a laugh. “Why so secretive?”
The heat was rising in Aragorn's cheeks and he looked down, refusing to meet his friend's merry eyes. “It's just nothing.”
“If it's nothing than you can let me see it, hmm?”
Aragorn backed away until his legs hit the bed. He was conscious of his half-dressed state—he hadn't quite managed to pull the linen shirt over his head before Legolas had found the bundle. He wouldn't be able to make a run out of the palace like this, shirtless and clad only in wool breeches and a pair of soft-soled elven shoes.
“All right,” Legolas raised his hands, laughing. “If it's so important to you, Aragorn.”
It was important. It was also embarrassing and so, so stupid. Why had he done it? It wasn't like gift-giving was a particular tradition among the elves...not for midwinter, anyway. That was a human thing, and as close as he and Legolas were the elf was still an elf.
“It's a gift,” he finally admitted, holding the bundle of fabric out. “The rangers have a tradition of exchanging gifts for midwinter. I brought...this is for you.”
Legolas's eyebrows shot up in surprise, but to Aragorn's relief he took the bundle without another word. Quietly, almost solemnly, the elf unrolled the plain fabric to reveal a pair of leather bracers. “These are for me?”
“I had them made. They're...” Aragorn's voice trailed off. He felt small, and ignorant, and far too young. Who was he to think an elf would appreciate a gift from a mortal?
But Legolas was studying the bracer's closely, holding them up so that the firelight caught the grooves of the tooled leather. “This is when we first met!” he exclaimed, a pleased smile lighting up his face.
Aragorn relaxed a little, half-sitting on the bed. The design had taken some time, many long nights spent with the rangers' armorer working out the pattern to apply to the bracers. At the cuff against the wrist were two figures, one with a sword and one with a bow, while at the elbow's end an avalanche tumbled down the side of a snow-covered mountain. Midway down the mountain the rolling snow became the heads of snarling wolves, all intent on charging the two figures at the far end of the bracer.
“Aragorn, these are wonderful!” Legolas exclaimed. “The craftsmanship is excellent—why were you so shy about this, my friend?”
He studied the floor for a moment. “It seemed...it's a ranger tradition, Legolas. I wasn't sure if it was appropriate.”
Legolas threw his head back with a laugh. He dug a hand into the pocket of his tunic and pulled something out, flipping it toward Aragorn. “I was planning on pinning this to your cloak before it was returned to you, then marveling over it the next time you put your cloak on.”
Aragorn caught the small, silvery object and cradled it in the palm of his hand. It was a cloak pin, in dark silver. It was shaped like a leaf, but the intricate design was of a sprawling tree with bare branches reaching toward the sky. Just at the top, an eagle was flying over the tree with a star clasped in its talons.
It wasn't the tree, but it was close enough for those who knew. Aragorn felt himself swallowing back a tear, and looked up at his friend in gratitude.
“Did you think rangers were the only ones who gave gifts at midwinter?” Legolas teased. “Now, come. Dress yourself, Aragorn. Tonight we feast and sing and laugh at bleak midwinter!”
* * *
So. Wanna hear all about how Legolas and Aragorn fought an avalanche full of angry wolves?
Headcanon: 1) Legolas has an older brother named Belegdur. He's a throwback to when I was first writing LOTR fanfic. The two brothers look a lot like their father, except Belegdur has green eyes like Thranduil and Legolas has blue eyes like their mother 2) Aragorn and the other rangers ride draft horses in the winter. Think of the horses in Skyrim. Song of Thunder's name is based on the naming conventions my ex used to talk about for thoroughbreds, where part of one of the parents' names is including in the offspring's names 3) the tapestries on the walls is based off my first apartment, where I couldn't afford to keep the heat up very high. I figured out that hanging blankets on the walls blocked a lot of the chill and kept things warmer. 4) The Mirkwood elves have houses outside the palace, but in winter they all move into the palace to stay warm and share provisions. It's been a while since I read The Hobbit but I know the palace was described as the fortress of Thranduil's people 5) Legolas's mother is not dead, she sailed into the west with Celebrian because they were friends, and she chose to offer her companionship until their husbands could join them again. Thranduil accepted this at first, but his anger built until he shut Mirkwood off from the rest of Middle-Earth. So the fact that he had some clothes made for Aragorn shows that he's trying to move forward.
Please leave a like or a comment! I had a shit day at work or I wouldn’t ask, haha.

Next time: Sweater - "You traitor!"

My favorite canon fact from Lord of the Rings:
"We have heard tell that Legolas took Gimli Glóin's son with him because of their great friendship, greater than any that has been between Elf and Dwarf. If this is true, then it is strange indeed: that a Dwarf should be willing to leave Middle-earth for any love, or that the Eldar should receive him, or that the Lords of the West should permit it. But it is said that Gimli went also out of desire to see again the beauty of Galadriel; and it may be that she, being mighty among the Eldar, obtained this grace for him. More cannot be said of this matter."
-- Appendix A, The Return of the King
This is wild. The idea that Legolas took Gimli with him into the West, to the blessed realm of Valinor beyond the sea (basically the Elf equivalent of the afterlife) is BONKERS. That shouldn't be possible. It breaks all the rules of the universe. And Professor Tolkien knows this, because he's the one who wrote the rules in the first place.
I can't stress enough how big a deal this is. For so many reasons:
1. The last time someone tried to enter Valinor without permission, it nearly destroyed the world.
When the last king of Numenor (the great island nation where Aragon's ancestors came from), sailed an armada into the West to try to steal eternal life by force, God broke and reshaped the world to stop it from happening. God ripped Valinor out of the earth and hid it, which sunk Numenor beneath the ocean in a giant tidal wave like Atlantis, and then he took the rest of the earth, which used to be FLAT, and bent it into a round globe, so ships would always sail in a circle back to where they started. Only elf-ships can find the hidden path which continues in a straight line, where the flat earth used to be, up and out of the atmosphere of the curved earth to reach the ancient West of Valinor. So yeah: kind of a big deal. The Powers-that-be take that shit seriously.
2. Dwarves were not part of God's original Plan.
So, in Tolkien's world, there are many "gods" with a lower-case "g", but only one GOD with a capital "G". The all-seeing, all-wise creator of the world is Eru Iluvatar: The One, the Father-of-All. The great Powers entrusted with governing individual aspects of the World day-to-day are the Valar. The Valar are not technically gods; they are actually created beings more like archangels, but in practice they function almost exactly like the pagan gods from Greek or Norse mythology. Tolkien's world is ultimately monotheistic at the top level, but with that old-school polytheistic flavor in the middle bits.
Elves and Men are the Children of Iluvatar. They were the two races of thinking, speaking beings planned from the beginning and created solely by Iluvatar himself. The Dwarves were not. The Dwarves were made in secret by Aule the Smith, the god of crafting (like Hephaestus or Vulcan), without getting permission from Iluvatar first. Iluvatar allowed the Dwarves to exist and put souls into them, but insisted they had to wait for their turn, after the awakening of Elves and Men, before they could awaken into the world.
Elves believe that when Dwarves die, they turn back into the earth and stone from which they were made. However, the Dwarves believe that they will sleep beneath the earth until the End of the World, and then finally Iluvatar will make them honorary, adopted Children and they will help Aule rebuild the world after the Last Battle.
All of that is a long way of saying: Only Elves are allowed entry into Valinor. Men are forbidden to set foot there, even though they are Children of Iluvatar. If Men can't, then Dwarves definitely can't.
The idea of Legolas rucking up to the shores of Aman in a rowboat with a living Dwarf onboard, and then just looking Mandos and Manwe in the eye and saying, "Hi I'm Legolas, this is my friend Gimli: He goes where I go. Let us in." -- It's mind-boggling. I love it.
Within the rules of the cosmology, there's no rational explanation for why that should be allowed, other than Tolkien wanted it that way. I think Tolkien just liked Legolas and Gimli's friendship so much he couldn't bear to separate them, and just thought, eh, I can break my own rules this once, to give them a happy ending. I love it.

The Usual Debate
There was very little that could be said that had improved about your situation as the sun set that day over the land of Rohan. The return of Gandalf; the knowledge that Pippin and Merry were as safe as anyone could be; even the fact that you would have a roof over your head that night, provided by King Théoden—all seemed very small victories in comparison to the storm rising to meet you. Inside Meduseld, many of the Rohirrim continued to celebrate the return of their king to health. Their people had always been that way. Even the knowledge that many of you would leave the following morning could not staunch their joy. Such a feeling turned out to be infectious. For the first time since Boromir’s passing, you felt some happiness yourself despite the bleak days you knew remained ahead.
Unfortunately, this feeling was not to last. Éowyn bid you goodnight after several hours of conversation, and near the instant she left, her vacated place became filled with the only member of your party that could always ruin your mood.
“Please go away,” you told him. “I have had an uncommonly nice day, and I should prefer to end it that way.”
Legolas smiled. Seeing him do so caused something inside you to burn, as it always did. “Come now, [Name]. If you’re enjoying yourself so much, let us not quarrel.”
“That’s an impossibility with you around.”
“And why do you believe that?”
“Because you and I always quarrel.”
This was and always had been true. Aragorn knew Legolas much better than you; he had been the one to introduce you to the prince of Mirkwood years ago, and since that day you and Legolas had rarely shared a kind word between you. You knew enough about behaving yourself to keep your distance from Legolas. He, on the other hand, seemed to delight in raising your temper. If he was not going to leave, you needed drink. Much to your displeasure, you found upon lifting your mug that there was nothing left inside it.
“You are very strange for a Dúnedain. Have I told you this before?” he asked conversationally.
You stopped your search for a serving boy to look at the elf. “If you have, I purposely forgot so. What do you mean that I am strange?”
“Only that you are a woman working as a Ranger—”
“I assure you that I am hardly such an aberration. There are plenty of female Dúnedain where I come from. The issue is that of us you have only met myself and Aragorn.”
“—and also that you rely much more heavily on drink than any Dúnedain I have met.”
“Aragorn does not count. He is of more noble blood than I. You cannot pretend to me that you yourself do not drink either. Have you forgotten that I have seen you before in Rivendell?”
“That is not the same.”
“Do not start that up again.”
Only an elf could so swiftly rearrange his features into a blank mask. Having been around quite a few elves (and all less irritating than the one before you just then) during your lifetime, you were not convinced. Legolas did not fool you any further by saying in his soft, musical voice, “I’m afraid I do not know what it is you are referring to.”
“Yes, you do. You want to start reminding me that elves and everything they create are better than anything the rest of us could dream up. I’m not going to listen to that swill.”
“How can the truth be swill?”
“That’s it. I think I shall head to bed myself. Please let Aragorn know where I am if he comes looking.”
“There’s no need. I already came over to see this unusual pairing.”
Sure enough, Aragorn materialized beside you with all his usual skill. He looked from you to Legolas with such an expression that you normally would have snapped at him over it. Indeed, it was an unusual expression for your serious king and occasional companion, probably brought on by the general atmosphere of cheer pervasive in Rohan that night. Because it was Rohan—and its king remained nearby—you knew better than to display any sort of flippancy.
“Well met, Aragorn,” Legolas greeted him. “Would you care to join us? It would make our coupling less unusual, if nothing else.”
“I would be pleased to—unless you still wish to head for your chambers, [Name]?” Aragorn asked.
You sank back onto the bench with a murderous glance at the elf. All he wanted was to torment you further, and he knew you could not properly retaliate with Aragorn sitting next to you as well. Would Legolas’ cruelties know no end?
“Now, what was it that you two were discussing before I arrived?” Aragorn asked, in as close to an airy tone as he could manage.
“Her drinking problem,” Legolas said, at the exact same time you said:
“How he still thinks elves are better than the rest of us.”
Aragorn’s lips quirked still further upward. “Do not allow Gimli to overhear you saying that. He’s only just began to view you as a friend.”
“Now if only I could get [Name] to do so.”
“Stranger things have happened on this journey.”
“And my growing to enjoy Legolas’ company would be the strangest yet,” you put in sourly. “How was your conversation with Théoden, Aragorn?”
“Not nearly as entertaining as this one. Allow to me to spend a few minutes tonight not thinking of war, [Name].”
“Anytime she is near, war is very close,” Legolas said.
“Too true.”
“If I am to be continually insulted and outnumbered, perhaps I ought to go to bed after all,” you grumbled.
Aragorn prevented you leaving by momentarily placing his hand over yours that rested on the table. “No, [Name], stay. I apologize. The good news we have gotten today has simply cheered me more than it ought to have. I did not mean to interrupt your time with Legolas.”
“You were not interrupting. I do not take pleasure in his company, as you already know.”
“And I already know that that isn’t true.” Legolas smiled.
“Then perhaps you are not nearly as smart as you believe elves to be. I cannot imagine that my behavior toward you in all this time has deluded you into believing that I could like being around you.”
“I think it is you that are not as smart as you believe. Perhaps elves are not higher than all other creatures, but in this case alone I will say that we might understand emotions better than some humans. My behavior should leave no question as to my feelings, and yet they do.” Before you had the chance to form a retort, Legolas got gracefully to his feet and settled his blue eyes on Aragorn. “We leave early, I assume, so I shall bid you farewell for now. There is some meditation I would like to do before we are on the road again. It is something you might wish to try, [Name].”
“You—”
He disappeared. You stared after him, unable to so much as think of an insult great enough to hurl after him. Any attempts to do were soon interrupted by an actual chuckle coming from your right. Looking there, you saw that Aragon had made the sound, though he quickly wiped all traces of mirth from his face.
“He’s right, you realize,” he told you.
“Right about what?”
“Never mind.” Aragorn rose himself. “I will say this: You do not have to rise to his bait each and every time he offers it to you. In doing so, you only give Legolas what he wants. I shall turn in now myself. Be prepared for a long ride tomorrow. If you like, you could try meditating on what Legolas said this evening. It might make you more amenable to him in the future.”
With such false hope in front of him, Aragorn left you. You yourself remained stewing at the table long after both men had gone. Meditate? On just one more thing Legolas said to rile you up? Doing so was entirely unnecessary when you already knew that no amount of meditation was ever going to get you to be more amenable to that elf, no matter how much Aragorn might have wished it.

Fellowship Preferences- Falling in Love
Request: How’s about falling in love preferences for Tolkien with Boromir, Faramir, Legolas, Merry, and whoever else you like (and Thorin and Thranduil if you do Hobbit too 😬)
Hi! Thank you for waiting so long!
Part 2 with miscellaneous Tolkien characters (LOTR + TH) is here
XXX
Aragorn:
Aragon needs time before he lets you in- falling in love is a slow and careful journey, though the ranger is kind to you the whole time. It starts with a genuine friendship, then deeper trust: shared laughter and hidden smiles, his hand brushing against yours, until, without words, you know that you are utterly enamored and he is too.
Boromir:
It’s obvious to you the second Boromir falls in love- he wears his heart on his sleeve, and he’s confident enough to confess his feelings to you quickly. He’s honest and hopeful, but patient. Boromir would want you to be truthful, too, even if his affections aren’t reciprocated. But he’s overjoyed when they are- he’d kiss you, if you’re willing, or at least leave a peck on the back of your hand. Boromir is passionate, nearly overwhelmingly so, and he’ll sing your praises to everyone he knows- but it just goes to show how much and how deeply he loves you.
Legolas:
Legolas smiles when he sees you the first time- it’s barely there, and his gaze is fleeting, but the corners of his mouth tug upwards. He doesn’t say anything to you then, but it’s still a memorable first impression. And, from that moment on, you start to fall for each other, in quiet, stolen evenings looking up at the sky, reading poetry to each other, or sitting silently and just enjoying each other’s company. The depth of your bond is something that goes unspoken until Legolas kisses you for the first time- but that simple action is instantly proof of your commitment to one another.
Gimli:
You fall for Gimli’s heart- underneath the beard and the occasional gruffness is a kind, compassionate man who impresses you with his virtue. Gimli makes you laugh harder than anyone else can, and he causes you to see the world from a more nuanced point of view. He’d be very open about his affections for you, albeit surprisingly shy when initially confessing them. But, he’d make clear that he’s yours- together, you’re a team, so long as you have each other’s hearts.
Merry:
Before you even meet Merry, you know of his ability to make others laugh. He proves his reputation true within minutes of your first encounter, but you soon find that Merry’s heart is underappreciated. He’s fiercely loyal and intelligent in an unassuming way. But it is laughter that makes you understand you want to be with him forever. He makes some witty comment and the humor that follows jolts you in realization that you cannot live without Merry- not without his heart nor the joy he brings you.
Pippin:
You know you’ve fallen for Pippin when you understand how much more there is to him than an immature boy with a penchant for mischief. Like Merry, he’s well known for making other’s laugh, but it its your patience and willingness to truly get to know Pippin that brings you close together. He appreciates your understanding, and this is what makes his own affections clear to him. There is more to Pippin than most others see- his loyalty, his heart, his empathy- and these traits are what you love him for.
Frodo:
Initially, you’re aware of Frodo as someone reserved and shy- and this remains true until he is fully comfortable around you. Still, even before that point, you are surprised by how much you value his company and input. Frodo is aware of things most other’s don’t consider, which means he perceives you like nobody else does- he sees the best in you and isn’t afraid to reassure you of your best qualities. And, once you truly know Frodo, you’re enamored by his compassion and kindness, and you realize you never want to be without him, this steady light in your life.
Sam:
There are many things to love about Sam- it’s easy to fall in love with him. You feel safe and happy with him, totally content to share the world and see it through his eyes. Sam’s true heart and genuine compassion draw you to him, and you realize he feels the same way when you catch him grinning at you, eyes looking lost. The expression causes your own face to flush and you know- you’re both totally smitten.

Your Heart
Hi! Could you do a Legolas x plus size reader?? The reader is the only female human to be a part of the fellowship and Gimli has basically sworn to protect her even though she can use a sword and fight her own battles. She is really sweet and Legolas has fallen hard for her. Lots of fluff please! If you're not ok with writing a plus size reader that's totally ok. Hope you have a good day!
I hope you like it! Let me know what you think! :)
“Again.”
Aragorn swung his sword at you as the both of you spared, running over some training exercises while you were all settled down for the night.
You blocked his attack and retaliated with your own, continuing on the short pattern that you had learned long ago.
“Good job,” Aragorn nodded. You thanked him, putting your sword down and grabbing a sip of water. Sitting down next to Gimli, you drank and looked around the small camp that you all had put up.
Frodo was sitting next to Sam, looking tired and not speaking. Sam talked to him while cooking, Merry and Pippin sat nearby smoking. Gandalf was carrying a new conversation with Aragorn and Legolas as Gimli stared at you.
“Are you alright?”
You nodded.
“Yeah, getting hungry though.”
He dug into his pack and brought out a small piece of bread.
“Here, have this,” he said, handing you the bread. You felt bad that he was giving you so much of his own food, so you broke it in half and gave him one part.
“I don’t need all of this. You need to eat too. Besides don’t you think I could stand to lose a little weight?” you asked, pulling at some of the chub on your stomach.
Gimli glared at you.
“What’s gotten into your head? You need to eat, so why are you trying to skip out on your dinner?”
He shoved the bread back at you once again. You sighed, took it back and rolled your eyes.
“All I’m saying is that I have stores of fat to help me so that I don’t need as much food as you have been giving me. I’m sure that someone else needs food too.”
Gimli huffed.
“I don’t see why you have to bring your weight into this. I’ve got fat too, and the hobbits have some, and everyone else has enough food. So just eat.”
“Well what about Legolas,” you shot back. “I rarely see him eat.”
“Who cares about the stupid elf?” he retorted.
You stuck your tongue out at him before standing up. You shoved one part of the bread in your mouth and walked over to where Legolas, Aragorn, and Gandalf were talking.
“Hey boys,” you said as you approached.
“Hello dear, what can we do for you?” Gandalf asked.
“I just wanted to know if any of you were hungry. I have some extra bread that I don’t need.”
“I am fine, thank you Y/N,” Aragorn responded. Gandalf responded in kind before asking Aragorn another question.
You turned to Legolas and offered the bread.
“Are you sure that you are full?” he asked with concern.
“I am sure, do not worry about me.”
He nodded his head in thanks as he took the bread.
“I always have concern for my friends. You are no different Y/N.”
You could feel a small blush cross your face. You nodded at him again before turning to make your way back over to Gimli.
Gimli narrowed his eyes and looked between Legolas and yourself. He noticed the blush on your cheeks but didn’t say anything. He was more concerned with the way that Legolas was watching your figure as you moved along the edge of the camp.
Not in the way that someone would if they were worried that you were about to be attacked. It was a loving way, with light in his eyes and a soft smile on his face.
“Fukin stupid elf.”
~~~~
Gimli had been extremely protective over you for a long time. He owed you for his mother’s life after all.
You were a healer, and had been crossing through the area when Gimli’s mother had gotten extremely ill. Him and his father were trying to find anyone that could help, but there wasn’t anyone available. You had heard about the situation and made your way to the family home.
Through the course of three days you got no sleep, tending over the ill woman and her family (making sure that they get enough rest) and eventually bringing her back to the land of the living.
Gimli was so thankful that when he realized you were a ranger and healer he swore to protect you from anything and everything for as long as he could, even though he knew you were a skilled fighter.
A natural friendship proceeded to bloom, which had led the two of you to Rivendell for the meeting of the ring. You had recognized Aragon from having met him a few years before, which helped you both even more in feeling comfortable.
You were excited to meet Legolas as well, even though Gimli was really cold towards the elf. You were naturally really sweet and friendly, so it wasn’t hard for the rest of the fellowship to warm up to you.
And then Legolas started developing feelings for you. And you for him, even though you didn’t realize it. Elven romance was something that you didn’t know much about. So you didn’t pay much attention to it.
Aragorn and Gandalf noticed the attraction first, seeing how Legolas would watch you constantly. Then Gimli noticed, followed by Frodo and Sam. Merry and Pippin were oblivious towards it.
And you were oblivious towards the feelings that Legolas had for you.
As you realized more and more that you were falling for the elf, your insecurities started to grow. Elves were so graceful and elegant. They were skinny, fit, and all around beautiful.
You did not consider yourself to be beautiful. Especially by elven standards. Chubby, dirty, loud, and clumsy. What elf would fall in love with you.
Legolas would, as it turns out.
As much as Gimli didn’t particularly like Legolas (or elves in general) he couldn’t deny that there was something special between the two of you. So he pushed his own opinions and feelings aside for you.
He began to try and set ‘traps’ for the two of you to have to work side by side. Only little things at first, cooking, scouting, cleaning.
Sometimes it gave you time to have small conversations about unimportant things, but other than that, there wasn’t much going on between the two of you.
Gimli was getting fed up.
He finally got a better chance during a small fight with a group of orcs. There was only a small handful of them that ambushed you guys while you were hiking.
Both you and Legolas were standing quite close to one another, and Gimli noticed. There also happened to be a small drop in the earth that you were standing too close to.
And Legolas seemed worried that something might happen to you, and stayed particularly watchful of you.
Gimli had a new plan.
The next orc that came at him, he grabbed it by the arm and threw it. The orc knocked you into the small drop in the earth, then fell to the ground near Legolas, who killed him.
Legolas noticed that you were nowhere to be seen and it sent him into a complete panic. He ran over to the drop and noticed you lying on the ground. Without hesitation, he jumped into the hole and ran to your side.
“Are you alright?” he questioned.
You groaned and nodded, sitting up.
“Yeah, just bruised.”
He frantically checked you over before crushing you into a huge hug. It was strange, because he was hugging you in the human style instead of the elven style. This was the first time he had ever shown you so much affection.
“I was so worried my love.”
“Love?!”
Legolas sighed before tilting your head up to meet his eyes.
“Yes… I am in love with you. Everything about you makes my heart soar more than you know.”
You paused.
“But I am not an elf. I am not graceful, thin, or delicate like elves either. How could you love me?”
Legolas shook his head.
“I love you because of your heart, and your smile. The way you laugh and the jokes you tell. Your spirit and cleverness. I don’t care what you look like. You have my heart anyway.”
A few tears gathered in your eyes. Legolas nudged your nose with his own before pressing a kiss to your lips.
Above, Gimli stood there smiling.
‘Finally,’ he thought. ‘He better make her happy though or I’ll axe him.”
legolas and aragorn: an epic, wordless friendship - part 3, ROTK
links to parts 1 and 2:
https://eternallysmaug.tumblr.com/post/615480073846390784/legolas-and-aragorn-an-epic-wordless-friendship
https://eternallysmaug.tumblr.com/post/615932510896013312/legolas-and-aragorn-an-epic-wordless-friendship
so, rotk is actually pretty thin in terms of interactions between legolas and aragon, but it has my absolute favourite scene of their friendship.
but let’s start at the beginning.
like i said, it’s pretty thin in terms of aragon’s interactions with legolas and gimli, which makes sense because 1) we don’t spend all that much time with aragorn, actually and 2) he’s got so many other characters to deal with. the first interaction we get is at edoras after the post-battle celebration.
legolas is standing outside and aragorn joins him, and we get some expository dialogue about sauron’s attention awakening and coming towards them. it’s not much, but it is important because, like the scenes at moria, amon hen and fangorn, whenever legolas gives a warning of danger (especially a danger he senses rather than sees) that warning is always given to aragorn.
Tumblr media
the next major interaction we get is at dunharrow, where legolas and gimli will not allow aragorn to take the dimholt road alone. it is rather telling of their friendship that it doesn’t come off as a major surprise or sacrifice at all; instead, it is a certainty.
the movie already points out that legolas doesn’t hesitate to follow aragorn into a cave where even gimli fears to go. in the book, legolas doesn’t fear the army of the undead because human ghosts can’t harm him. no such explanation is given in the movie, so i really can’t call it one way or the other.
when they exit the caves, aragorn spots the corsair ships and sinks to the ground in despair.
Tumblr media
and legolas trots over to put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Tumblr media
why is this something that contributes to the ‘great friendship’ idea? here’s why: aragorn has lots of interactions involving close proximity with other characters. he’s an affection-dispensing care bear, really. it’s not unusual to see other characters touching him. however, legolas is a character that gets very little physical interaction with other characters that he chooses. we saw a bit of this in moria, where legolas grabs boromir, gandalf and gimli on the stairs - because he needs to. over ttt and rotk, gimli sits with him on arod - sure, they chose each other’s company but gimli has to be close for him to ride arod too. but here, we have one interaction where legolas chooses to initiate physical contact where none was truly necessary and it’s pretty close contact too. he could have put his hand on aragorn’s right shoulder, but he puts it on his left, bringing him closer than the former option. there’s no other scene in rotk where legolas is this close to anyone because he chose to be.
and then we come to my favourite scene. ps. please forgive the shitty quality of these shots, i wish i had the gifs of these scenes.
the one at the black gates.
what’s fascinating is that we get a scene with legolas and gimli here - you know the one.
Tumblr media
and if we followed the trajectory of the book, this would be a truly emotional scene indeed - where two once-enemies now turned friends take comfort in being by each other’s side in a hopeless battle. however, it’s diminished in magnitude by a number of film-making decisions made in the following scenes.
it starts when aragorn takes on a troll.
Tumblr media
and legolas makes this face
Tumblr media
you’d all agree with me if i say that legolas is a pretty stoic and unshakeable character. even when he was arguing with aragorn at helm’s deep, there wasn’t any fear to be seen, only frustration.
but this face, this is legolas terrified.
and what does he do next?
he starts pushing orcs out of the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we have never seen legolas lose his head in a skirmish/battle, not once. no matter how desperate the fighting gets, no matter how reckless some of his moves seem to be, they’re all thought out. he climbs a cave troll, he climbs a mumak, he skates using a shield - in all of them, he’s still in control of himself and his actions.
but not here. he’s forgotten about fighting, he’s not protecting himself, he’s just pushing orcs out of the way to get to aragorn.
and it’s really interesting that we have gandalf, pippin and gimli in this same skirmish, probably not too far away from aragorn either, and the movie doesn’t show a single shot of their reaction to aragorn being stomped on by a troll. of course, the movie cannot show every character’s reaction to another’s dilemma,  you’d never have enough screen time. the movie has to prioritise. and it does so by showing the most pertinent reaction i.e. the reaction of the person/people who would be most affected by that dilemma.
here, by showing only legolas’ reaction to aragorn’s dilemma, the movie is telling you that this person is the one who will be affected the most if aragorn does die. it may not have been a conscious decision on the part of the producers to imply that, but the implication came through nonetheless. and top that off with legolas’ sheer panic and desperation to get to aragorn, and the message the movie sends is that the one person legolas cares about far more than any other is aragorn.
and the final scene we get with legolas is this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here we see how important legolas is to aragorn. eomer - now king of rohan - is standing in the audience. pippin - hobbit nobility in his own right - is in the audience. gimli is a crown-bearer. from his reaction to her, aragorn doesn’t know that arwen is in this delegation, but he’s not surprised to see legolas walking up the path? aisle? to greet him. why does legolas - a mere prince of some far flung elven kingdom - get this special treatment? it’s as though aragorn wanted some display of his rule being accepted by other rulers and of all of the available ones, he picked legolas despite the other candidates ranking higher than him.
like i said, i don’t know far these choices were intentional, but they’re definitely something a viewer picks up on almost unconsciously.
and so concludes my analysis of the ways in which the movies showed a deep friendship between aragorn and legolas in a very, very understated manner. i hope you all enjoyed it.
Hold my hand and with it my heart
I dont know how to post fanfiction on tumblr... but Im giving it a shot
Chapter 1                              Love in the air
Legolas combed through his hair making sure every strand was perfectly placed upon his scalp. Today was an important day, In fact, if everything went as planned it would be the most important day of his life. It would be the day he confessed to Gimli and asked him to share with him his heart.
Legolas and Gimli were staying at Minas Tirith after the celebration of Aragorn and Arwen's wedding. As love was in the air and on his mind Legolas realized he couldn't wait for another journey and must confess his love soon.
Once satisfied that he looked presentable enough for his dwarf he thought over his decision once more. Although he was certain that Gimli wouldn't ruin their friendship over something as trivial as unreturned affection he was scared that this could change their relationship for the worse. For, how could it not be after such a thing was brought to light? Silencing his wandering thoughts with a shake of his head he got up and went to find Gimli.
Gimli was in a pub drinking with Aragorn, they would have invited Legolas to complete the three hunters but Aragon mentioned he wanted to discuss something with Gimli. They haven't gotten to the matter and hand yet as watching the many drunk people interact was much more entertaining. In particular, a young maiden and her equally young love would go from swaying in each other’s arms to quickly dancing a jig in the blink of an eye.
Aragon nodded to the pair and looked back at his friend with a twinkle in his eye. “Love Certainly is in the air, for I haven't gone a single day without running into two lovebirds who can't keep their hands off each other.” And it was true, after the king's marriage, it seemed that everyone suddenly couldn't go any longer denying their heart.
  “You’re right...It's strange ain't it?” said Gimli looking around noticing that the inn was absolutely filled with lovers. There were the many people dancing each one with a pair, The seats where he normally would find family of the deceased drinking away their worries were now filled with merry people finding friendship in their drunkenness and filling the bar with whatever song they could remember.
  “Nonsense! It's simply people finding joy and merriment in the end of a war and the start of a new age of love and acceptance!” Aragorn exclaimed, raising his glass as the whole bar cheered out in a peculiar show of comradery. As they settled down he looked back at his questioning friend with a huge grin. “ Just look at you and Legolas, two people from feuding races finding friendship in one another is just one more example of this. It’s not strange it's the new way.”
Just then Legolas bursts through the door with a feverish look on his face frantically looking around for his shorter friend. His hair was a mess.
  “Ah! Legolas we were just speaking of you.” Aragorn then got a distant look on his face, As if just remembering something important. “ Have you seen Arwen? Actually never mind I think I’ll head out and find my gorgeous wife. You two have a good night now.” He quickly got up with a sprint in his step leaving his full glass on the bar and abandoning the conversation he had yet to start with Gimli.
  “Gimli I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” panicked Legolas ignoring the king as he pushed past him “How about we go for a walk in the gardens!? I have something I want to discuss with you and it is ever so important.”
  “Yes, I think that would be best.” Gimli hesitated he couldn't understand what had gotten into everyone. Yes with such a wonderful wedding and end of the old age he would expect some rejoicement but this was getting absurd.
So I took Siobhan’s advice and listened to the BBC’s radio adaptation of the Lord of the Rings from the 80′s
It’s pretty good, you can listen to it here https://soundcloud.com/inkmore/sets/lord-of-the-rings-radio
I had some issues with it but I liked it for the most part. I’m not a massive LoTR fan, only watched the films so I don’t know much, but here are the thoughts I had.
I once heard someone describe Hobbits and the Shire as “drama free people” after listening to this series, that’s obviously not the case. Hobbits seem to live for the drama, always talking shit behind one anothers back. I think Tolkien was trying to satirise rural or village life in England and I think he did a good job depicting how petty people can be.
Sam is a working class hero and Frodo doesn’t deserve him.
I understand how people can like Sam/Frodo because there is massive gay vibes coming off them. Personally I interpreted it to be unrequited and an example of some class division, with Sam being working class and Frodo being middle class. The amount of dedication and support Sam shows Frodo I don’t think Frodo would show back if the roles were reversed. I feel like its a very one sided relationship with Sam putting in way more effort than Frodo.
Bilbo’s whole thing seems to be that he went on a gap year once that turned out quite bad and now he kinda lives like a hermit.
I don’t know how reliable to the books the Radio series is, but I feel like the movies do more justice to stuff. Like in the Radio drama Gandalf makes his first appearance by just coming through the door and Bilbo is like “ah, Gandalf” and...that’s it. Movie version was better in my opinion.
I think the radio drama does a lot better to explain what the ring of power does than the movies. I always got confused by what the ring does, like in the movies all it seems to do is turn people invisible and make them into heroin addicts. With the radio I kinda understand more about it. Like the ring’s power kinda depends on the wearer, like a Hobbit could simply use it for invisibility and expanding their life force but a King could use it to control the minds of an entire enemy army and a Wizard could do even more. But it’s still vague and I presume Tolkien intended it to be, like it’s just a representation of the concept of power and this world’s equivalent of a deal with the devil. Power or wishes may be commanded but they will ultimately corrupt you.
Time in the books seem wild. Like at one point Gandalf says that Bilbo has gone off and he himself will start researching the ring and then twelve years go by and Frodo has just been fucking about, forgot that the ring even existed and Gandalf comes back and is like “oh yeah, ring is bad”
Also, Frodo is 50 when he leaves the shire???? Jesus
Also, were the Nazgul just running about for 12 years looking for the ring? Like at one point the Nazgul knocked on some Hobbit’s door asking about Frodo and the Hobbit told him to go fuck himself and slammed a door- to a NAZGUL
Aragon’s voice in this radio drama is...way off. Like it sounds like Greg Davies. You don’t really have the soft voice of Viggo Mortinstein but the gruff righteous voice of the Principal from the Inbetweeners
Elrond denying Aragon to marry his daughter until he becomes king of Gondor is like a stern dad refusing you to date his daughter until you get a real job.
Also Aragon gets the reforged sword, like, immediately when they leave Riverdale. Which is a bit weird to me.
It makes sense why Frodo is trusted with the ring. A king couldn’t be trusted because he’d use it for conquest. A Wizard could overthrow Sauron but in doing so would become just as bad so you’re back to square one. With a Hobbit, there is no desire for conquest or any wish for power outside of simply having the ring. Even when Golum had it all he used it for was to hunt fish and extend his life cycle. I’m curious of whether if Sam had carried the ring all the way to Mordor if he could will himself to destroy it or would he have failed like Frodo.
Gimly and Legolas’ friendship is so cute. Like they start off disliking eachother but bond over their prowess in combat and plan out a gap year after the whole fellowship where they see the sights of middle earth. So wholesome
I don’t understand why they didn’t just kill Golum. Like I know he was important to find the way to Mordor and was ultimately necessary to destroy the ring after Frodo failed, but like the idea of “don’t kill him because of pity and he also probably has a part to play” is bullshit to me. Like he’s so gross and troublesome. It’s the same excuse Jedi have with “oh you can’t kill a Sith Lord because striking them down means you need to embrace the dark side” bitch Luke Skywalker round house kicked a guy into a Sarlack Pick- whaddya mean he can’t kill this wrinkly ass Emperor??? Ethical mental gymnastics are mind blowing.
For me the moment that made me really dig the series was when the Fellowship disbanded. Like shit hit the fan and everyone’s forced to do their own shit, really engaging storytelling.
The series is quite short when you consider all the battles are short cutted. Like in the radio drama you’ll hear a series of grunts for 30 seconds and then a song about how bad that battle was. I guess it would take a lot to depict a battle purely by means of audio.
Seriously the series is quite short, like it’s 13 hour long episodes and by episode five I’m like “oh shit we’re starting the second book already? Damn” It felt half the time there was so much stuff cut out I don’t know why
I think the radio drama is best suited for people who have either watched the movies or read the books. Like I don’t think it’s well suited for people who haven’t seen LoTR content before. Like the scene with the Balrog there is no description of what it looks like.
Also, Gandalf fought the Balrog from the deepest dungeons to the tip of the mountain? Damn, Gandalf’s leg day must be intense
I love the introduction of Treebeard and the Ents. Like you get this horrific imagery with warring Orcs and other evil creatures and then turn a hard 180 to these hilarious tree people. I guess that’s why the LoTR is so great. Because you do get those hard, gruesome battles but you also get these lovely peaceful wholesome scenes.
Quick question, how do you meet a guy called Saruman and then be surprised that he’s the bad guy? It’s the same deal with Victor VonDoom.
Also, did Tolkien have to have all the big villains names sound so similar?
Man, Tolkien loves having people end up together. With the Horse Princess who got friendzoned by Aragorn meeting up with that guy from Gondor. You love to see it
So like, was the King of Nazgul just talking shit or can he not be killed by a man? Like could anyone kill him by stabbing him the face or did the Horse Princess just find a loophole?
At one point this woman kinda makes fun of this flower called Kings Seed or some shit and Aragon basically calls her a THOT
Kinda sad the series didn’t have more dragons. Like I would have liked to see a huge black dragon at the final battle at Mordor. But that’s just me, I love me some dragons
Also, the final battle at the gates of Mordor is so endearing. Like they don’t even know if Frodo and Sam are still alive but they go to war anyway because they believe they are and in doing so keep the eye of Sauron off of them. It’s really heart warming
The radio’s version of the destruction of the ring is kinda anticlimactic. Like I said it’s better with the dialogue than it is at the representation of physical actions like combat. Like if you didn’t know what happened at the end of the lord of the rings and you were listening to this you would have no idea that Golum fell into the lava with the ring
I love the owner of the Prancing Pony’s reaction to Aragon becoming King of Gondor. It’s like “hey, remember that guy you saw shit in the woods that one time? Yeah he’s the President”
Also Sam’s Pony lives at the end of it. Love to see it. I feel like Tolkien read his first draft to his kids and they were like “what happened to Sam’s pony?” and he was like “uh, yeah, the pony....the pony lived! yes! the pony found its way back to town” you can tell this story is vibing on a different level than GoT or ACOC
Hobbits returning to the Shire fucking shit up like level 16 PCs returning to the town they started the campaign in
Also, all the Hobbits in the shire have no idea what the fuck went down? Like I understand they live in the middle or nowhere but that’s astounding
It’s so funny what ends up happening to Saruman. Like he goes from being the second in command of the Dark Lord to being a shitty local businessman in a Village in Yorkshire
I can see how people can really get into the LotR. Like a world like GoT is just fucked beyond compare and any happy ending will be bittersweet at most. But here you have an ending where the characters leave the world better than when they found it
Frodo asking Sam to live with him was him totally trying to get with Sam, right? And Sam was like “oh that’s nice Frodo, but I have gf” and Frodo’s like “oh that’s alright, she can move in too!” it’s like watching a man back step his request for love by inviting a family into his home. You missed your shot Frodo! You had a whole year with Sam and you blew it!
Sam ultimately moving on from Frodo with his thicc Hobbit gf is the character development we deserved
That said, in the movies Sam getting a gf was a thing at the end of the third movie- like he’d been so shy before hand but after almost dying he’s like “fuck it, might as well give my shot” but here in radio drama he...had a gf all along? Like we only hear about her in the final episode and he’s like “oh yeah, my gf ain’t too happy. I left her for a year to fuck about with you so now I need to marry her. Woops” very startling
Also love how Tolkien represented PTSD with Frodo. I don’t think works of Fantasy like this before Tolkien really did this stuff justice. That said the ending is a bit weird. Like I understand that the “Undying Lands” are supposed to reflect Tolkien’s belief in Catholicism, Eternal Life and Heaven. But it’s really hard to not interpret the ending as Frodo as struggling to deal with his PTSD so he commits suicide. Because the Undying Lands is a place that Sam cannot follow. It’s heart breaking but that’s the vibe I got off the ending.
So yeah, there’s my thoughts. It’s pretty good but I’d only recommend the series to anyone who’s either seen the movies or read the books. If this was your first introduction to LOTR I don’t know if that would be any good.
Also, while we’re here I recommend Escape from the Bloodkeep from Dimension 20. It’s  DnD actual play series that is a slight parody of LOTR. It’s really good.
Fic Rec Bingo
Tumblr media
Okie dokie, this is the Fan Rec Bingo - idea courtesy of lightvials on twitter, but I don’t have a twitter that I ever use, so I’m filling it out here instead.  Let’s see if I can fill it all out!
I did, and then some.  To save poor dashboards, it’s all under the cut!  If I know author tumblrs they’ve been mentioned - I know pitifully few so if anyone knows the ones I don’t, let me know so I can mention them, too!
A fic you love without knowing the source material: The Dragon-King’s Temple by Kyral (Stargate SG-1/Avatar the Last Airbender)
Through the spite of the spirits or plain rotten chance, a door that would have been better left untouched has opened. On the other hand, with Fire and Earth as one's allies, sometimes escaping is the easy part. Rated: Gen.  AO3 Archive Warning for Graphic Descriptions of Violence. Characters: Zuko, Toph Beifong, Janet Fraiser, Sam Carter, Jack O’Neill, and more Words: 196311.  Status: Complete
I very rarely read fics without already knowing the canon, but one that I think counts would be a Stargate/ATLA crossover, because I know nothing about Stargate and I have yet to finish ATLA!  This was recommended to me due to the creativity of the author regarding a language barrier (something I always enjoy, and my friend knows that).
A fic series with a premise that shouldn’t work but it does: Crazy=Genius by blackkat (Bleach/Harry Potter)
Minerva McGonagall isn't about to let Harry go back to the Dursleys after his first year. She finds an alternative, and along the way, Bazzard Black finds that he might have more family left than he'd ever thought. Rated: Teen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Bazz-B, Harry Potter, and more Words: 21682.  Status: Incomplete
Okay, I cheated and picked a series.  Not my fault blackkat decided to make this universe a series of oneshots rather than a single entity and you’re certainly not getting me to only pick one of the five already published ones.  Bazz-B being a Black and also kinda a wizard is a brilliant concept, and having him adopting Harry is pure gold.  Not sure how crazy Quincy adopting poor, neglected Boy Who Lives works, but it does!
A fic you’ve reread several times: The Guardian (Director’s Cut) by SGTBrowncoat (Naruto)
Itachi Uchiha receives his first mission in ANBU: protecting a certain trouble making Jinchuriki. He bonds quickly with the boy, but dark forces rise to threaten Itachi, Naruto, and those they care for most. Rated: T.  Canon-typical violence Characters: Uchiha Itachi, Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Shisui and more (includes Uchiha Itachi/Inuzuka Hana background pairing) Words: 35945.  Status: Complete
Back to my first ever fandom, here, and a really fun non-massacre AU fic, with lots of Itachi and Shisui goodness.  There are a fair few ANBU-looking-after-kid-Naruto fics but this is by far my favourite of them!  There is a sequel, but unfortunately it’s not finished and hasn’t been updated in a long time (I live in hope!)
---
A fic you still remember many years later: While The Ring Went South by Thundera Tiger (Lord of the Rings)
What happened after the Fellowship left Rivendell but before they came down off Caradhras? Behold the missing scenes. Rated: K+.  Canon-typical violence Characters: Legolas, Gimli, Aragon, Gandalf, the whole Fellowship Words: 149624.  Status: Complete
I refound this fic completely by accident the other week, after first reading it (according to when I favourited it on FFN) in 2011!  It was just as amazing as I remembered, and is really the standard I hold all other LotR fics to, especially ones that involve the entire, pre-Moria, Fellowship.  It has a sequel but sadly that’s not been updated in some time (but again, I live in hope!)
A comfort fic: There May Be Some Collateral Damage by metisket (Bleach/Harry Potter)
Ichigo’s been ordered to go undercover at a magic school to bodyguard a kid named Harry Potter, and this would be fine, except that he’s about as good at bodyguarding as he is at magic. And he considers it a good day, magic-wise, if he hasn’t set anything on fire. Rated: Gen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Kurosaki Ichigo, Harry Potter, Weasley Twins, and more. Words: 61209.  Status: Complete
I have no idea what this means by ‘Comfort Fic’ but if I want a laugh and Umbridge getting a pile of comeuppance, this is definitely the fic I’ll turn to.  As the A/N says: ‘sending Ichigo to Hogwarts is basically the same as swinging a wrecking ball directly into the side of the castle’.  Beautiful chaos is what we get.  Beautiful, beautiful chaos.
A cathartic fic: See You Again by cookietosser (One Piece)
Rocinante has been through a lot in his life. Adding uncontrollable time travel into the mix? That's just the icing on the cake. Rated: Teen.  AO3 Violence and (canon) Character Death Warnings Characters: Donquioxte Rocinante|Cora-san, Trafalgar Law, Heart Pirates Words: 15755.  Status: Complete
You want to rip my heart out and trample it into lots of little pieces while still making it all better because Law and Rocinante?  Well, this little time-traveller’s wife AU fic is just the one for all that.  Sad moments, frustrating moments, happy moments, all wrapped up in this oneshot!
A fic you’d print and put on your bookshelf: Thrower of the Dart by Vathara (Artemis Fowl/The Avengers)
What might have happened instead of Artemis Fowl book 6, if it'd happened in the Marvel Universe. Megalomaniacs ahoy! Rated: Teen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings Characters: Artemis Fowl II, Tony Stark, and more Words: 101272.  Status: Complete
It’s long, it’s epic, and it would nestle in perfectly at home alongside my Artemis Fowl books on the bookshelf!  It’s not so much a rewrite of book 6 as a complete replacement of it, with a new plot and an all too familiar villain!
---
A fic you associate with a song: Goodbye, Brother by Serena Estelle (Bleach)
Ilforte's final moments as I like to picture them-with his brother. Rated: T.  Canonical character death Characters: Szayelaporro Granz, Yylfordt Granz Words: 3073.  Status: Complete
Might be cheating, because the author actually names a song in their starting A/N, but this definitely brings to mind Exile Vilify by The National, and I fully recommend listening to that (on loop - there is a 10-hour loop version on youtube) as you watch this for maximum tear-jerking effect.
A fic that inspires you: Magic of the Rose Cross by Awensweth (Harry Potter/D.Gray-Man)
In Harry's 4th year the Triwizard Tournament is brought back to live, but the appearance of a fourth mysterious school about which only Dumbledore seems to know brings new secrets with it for everyone. Who are the students of Rose Cross? Rated: Mature.  AO3 Chose Not To Use Warnings Characters: Harry Potter, Allen Walker, and more Words: 66632.  Status: Incomplete
I have been inspired by many, many fics, but I chose this one in particular because it was the main one that inspired me to join the HP/DGM Triwizard Tournament wave of the early 2010s - indeed, The Combat School is one of my most popular fics, but without this and other fics of the trope, I probably would never have written it!  That’s not to say I’ve copied this fic - aside from the base trope I tried my best to make my own work unique against the others, and hope that I succeeded!  Sadly, this fic is incomplete and hasn’t been updated for some time, but it’s still worth a read.
A fic that brought you on board a new ship:  Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell by MsChunks (Boku no Hero Academia)
Uraraka and Bakugo have a secret. It’s not what their classmates think it is. Rated: Teen.  AO3 Chose Not To Use Warnings Characters: Bakugo Katsuki, Uraraka Ochako Words: 182478.  Status: Complete
Putting Bakugo and Uraraka together was something I’d never considered, and I started this fic with some trepidation after a friend recommended it to me, but said friend has never steered me wrong with fics and didn’t start now!  Fake dating, Uraraka actually being badass, the most terrifying couple in class 1-A?  That’s this fic.
A fic you wish could be a movie: Mission Impossible by Loopstagirl (Thunderbirds)
Being selected for his first solo mission should have been exciting for Captain Scott Tracy of the Air Force. But there was something else at play. Something dangerous and deadly. Something that could cost him more than his life. Rating: T.  Warnings: Violence Characters: Scott Tracy, Gordon Tracy Words: 55048.  Status: Complete
Air Force!Scott?  W.A.S.P.!Gordon?  On a joint mission together?  Yes, gimme, gimme, gimme.  Gimme Scott’s awkwardness alone on a boat of WASP personnel, gimme Gordon’s horror when he realises the suicide mission pilot is his older brother, and now give that all to me on screen!  And we can’t forget the Hood, of course!  Might be a bit higher rating than the current Thunderbirds stuff, but hey, I’m old enough.  Gimme.
A fic that led to you becoming friends with the author: The Gabriel Project by Aceidia (Bleach)  - @thetwelvecaesars
When Szayelaporro knew Aizen's reign in Heuco Mundo was coming to a close, he took matters into his own brilliant hands. He reincarnates himself and the other nine Espadas into a new life full of surprising turns and irony. Yet, the harmony and ignorance is not forever as they begin to remember. Rating: M (violence) Characters: Szayelaporro Granz, the Espada Words: 116030.  Status: Complete
Well, this fic sparked off a friendship that’s still very much there, even if neither of us write much for Bleach any more!  What started off as a challenge to identify who the Espada were turned into essay-length PMs about anything and everything, and then RP groups and now random emails about whatever at random times of the day (different timezones don’t help)!
A fic you’ve gushed about irl: Living Like Kings by CLynnB (Thunderbirds)
The world wants to know more about the Tracy brothers. So Lady Penelope takes it upon herself to show the world just who they are. Through YouTube. Rating: Gen.  AO3 Author Chose Not To Use Warnings Characters: Lady Penelope-Creighton-Ward, Tracy Family (background Pen/Ink, Scayo, Virg/Brains) Words: 35348.  Status: Complete
I love social media fics like this one, and my poor boyfriend got the brunt of it while we were on holiday... he knows basically nothing about Thunderbirds except for what he’s heard from me (which is a lot because he’s amazing and lets me gush).  I mean, Tracy boys playing “The Floor Is Lava?” and tackling each other to the ground?  Gimme.
A fic you associate with a place: Thunderbirds Meet Thunderbirds - Alan trip in to the movie verse by ak47stylegirl (Thunderbirds) @ak47stylegirl
Crazy stuff always happens to Tracys, don't they?  Add felling into a different world to the list. Rating: Gen. AO3 No Archive Warnings Characters: Alan Tracy, Tracy Family times two Words: 25599.  Status: Incomplete
This might be a little random, but this fic was one that I found while I was ill on holiday to the Lake District last autumn.  Sadly, it’s the only trip there I’ve ever done where I couldn’t climb a single fell (and my car’s clutch burnt out after having to reverse up a pass... thanks bus coming the other way), and this fic’s updates while I was there kept me sane!  This has actually very loosely inspired a fic of my own which is in the making - which might get posted in the next year if I’m lucky...  Still waiting eagerly for this fic’s next update :D
A fic that made you gasp out loud: The Colours Of The World by MaiKusakabe (Fullmetal Alchemist/Harry Potter)
When Roy Mustang went to retrieve his eyesight from Truth, he wasn’t expecting to end up doing a job in exchange. It couldn’t even be an easy job, of course, because Edward’s assessment of Truth was a pretty accurate one. Rating: Mature.  AO3 No Archive Warnings (but watch for canon-typical violence) Characters: Roy Mustang, Albus Dumbledore, Sirius Black, and more Words: 120578.  Status: Incomplete
Badass Roy yesss.  Twists and turns and Truth is a pretentious you-know-what but Voldemort’s even worse so where does that leave poor Roy except caught in the middle and very much a war veteran at this point... much to the horror of a few wizards!
A fic you found at the right time: Seafaring Heartless: Exit North Blue by Avian Swallow (One Piece)
Pirates may be considered evil by the majority, but Law had met quite a few of the world's navy who were corrupt to the core and putting up a very thick facade. He reasoned that if he was going to manipulate and scheme his way into that goal, at least he was going to be honest enough to admit it. Rating: T.  Canon-typical situations Characters: Trafalgar Law, Bepo, Penguin, Shachi, Heart Pirate OCs Words: 159644.  Status: Complete
Is there ever a ‘wrong time’ to find a fic?  (a 100k+ at 4am debatable, but shh).  When I craved Heart Pirate content, this fic (and its sequel, still in progress but updating) appeared!  Only loosely clings to canon at the moment, thanks to some SBS revelations, but with well developed OCs to fill the faces we have no names or personalities for at the moment!
---
A fic that you would read fic of: Only a Boy by Riddle Lee (Harry Potter/Merlin)
Merlin has changed Camelot forever but while that part of his life is complete, destiny has a new task for him. Now he has to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, hide the fact that he's the Merlin, and defeat a Dark Lord that's messing with magic he knows nothing about. Rating: T.  Canon-typical situations Characters: Merlin, Draco Malfoy, Hermione Granger, and more Words: 340998.  Status: Incomplete
An amazing universe with Slytherin!Merlin, no Harry Potter/Boy Who Lived, and the good old ‘hiding real identity’ trope to underpin the whole series.  Currently just into the start of Merlin’s third year at Hogwarts, aka “The Prisoner of Azkaban”.  This universe has so much to give, although Riddle Lee is doing a fantastic job at it.  It’s incomplete and slow to update but does update!
A fic that made you laugh out loud: HOW’S THE COMA GOING by ossicle (One Piece)
Kidd and Penguin keep trying to murder each other and Law is done with their shit. He assigns them to take care of each other’s injuries so they’ll learn to get along. It doesn’t work. Rating: Teen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings Characters: Eustass Kid, Penguin, Trafalgar Law (background KidLaw) Words: 2062.  Status: Complete
Oh this one had me in stitches basically the whole time.  Kid’s bedside manner should not be mimicked in the slightest, but a beautiful bonding fic in typical pirate fashion - beat ‘em up ‘til they have your approval.  Poor, poor, Law.
A fic with a line (or two) that you’ve memorised by heart: On Their Side by Gumnut (Thunderbirds) - @gumnut-logic
She trusted these boys with a great deal. Rating: Teen.  AO3 No Warnings Apply Characters: Colonel Casey, Virgil Tracy, Gordon Tracy Words: 1116.  Status: Complete
I think I have basically the entire thing memorised.  This one also falls into several other categories, most notably ones that made me laugh and ones that I’ve reread several times, but it really belongs here on this list.
A fic that gave you butterflies: it’s a long way forward so trust in me by aloneintherain (Miraculous Ladybug)
Six times Marinette carried Adrien (plus one time he carried her). Rating: Teen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings Characters: Adrien Agreste|Chat Noir, Marinette Dupain-Cheng|Ladybug (all sides of the love square) Words: 5611.  Status: Complete
Aaah I have a weak spot for strong!Marinette and this fic ticks that box time and time again, with a side of blushing!Adrien and general love-struck Adrien/Chat.  I mean, what more could a girl need?
A fic that embodies something you value in life: Team Itachi by Killer of thy Cookies (Naruto)
What if the Third Hokage stopped the council before they could order Itachi to commit the Uchiha Clan Massacre? Itachi is one of the village's strongest ninja, and has now been given the task of being a Jonin sensei, assigned to Team 7 with his little brother Sasuke, the 'dead last' Naruto Uzumaki, and fangirl Sakura Haruno. This is Team Itachi. Rating: T.  Canon-typical situations Characters: Uchiha Itachi, Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura, and more Words: 155092.  Status: Complete
(Yup, another non-massacre AU.)  Loyalty.  Honestly, there are so many fics that have loyalty in them, especially in fandoms like Naruto, where loyalty is a pretty big thing anyway (alongside friendship, of course), but this one is Itachi staying openly loyal to the village because Sarutobi actually saved the clan, and of course lovely bonds between the team!
A favourite AU: A Son By Any Other Name by carryonstarkid (Thunderbirds)
Cursed as a child, Scott Tracy lives a life in which everyone he encounters must follow all of his given commands. Rating: Teen.  AO3 Chose Not To Use Warnings Characters: Scott Tracy, Tracy Brothers, Kayo Kyrano, and more Words: 83429.  Status: Complete
I rarely read AU fics - my preferred sandbox is the canon one, or a nice slice of canon diversion, rather than completely taking characters out of their home and dumping them somewhere entirely new.  This fairytale AU, however - reminding me very much of Sleeping Beauty except instead of sleeping it’s, well, what the summary says - is fantastically well done and addresses the strain such a thing would put on even the closest of family relationships.
A fic you stayed up too late to finish reading: As N Approaches Infinity by Corisanna (Bleach/Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
Despairing as yet another timeline goes horribly wrong, Homura wanders into Karakura. There she discovers that while the spiritually-aware people of Karakura were distracted by Ichigo Kurosaki and Xcution, Kyubey had managed to contract the Kurosaki sisters as magical girls. Drawing the attention of the shinigami could be just the advantage Homura needs. Rating: Teen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings but watch out for canon-typical situations for both fandoms (especially Madoka) Characters: Akemi Homura, Kurosaki Karin, Kurosaki Yuzu, Urahara Kisuke, and many more Words: 465297.  Status: Incomplete
There are many fanfictions that have kept me up til dawn.  Many.  This one, however, has literally robbed me of all my sleep and I’ve still been unable to finish it in one sitting.  It’s good, the pacing is fantastic, and with Homura as our leading lady, that means those time resets really hit hard when they happen (and they happen.  They really, really, happen).  Might be incomplete, but is still updating - and there’s plenty to keep you occupied in the meantime!
A fic that made you feel seen: A Seed Once Grown by Darkestwolfx (Thunderbirds) - @darkestwolfx
Believe it or not, they did have a garden on Tracy Island. It looked a little like a… tip. And that was being kind. Rating: Teen.  AO3 No Archive Warnings Characters: Ned Tedford, Tracy Family Words: 4785.  Status: Complete
Okay, so I’m taking this literally because I spend a lot of time feeling invisible on the internet so having a fic written for me from someone I’d barely spoken to before was a whole pile of screaming.  Not that it’s the first time someone’s written a fic for me, but the other ones have been done by friends I’d already known for some time, and not someone in a fandom I’m just starting to find my feet in.
---
Free space: whoo boy, fun time!  There are a few fics on the top of my head that didn’t fill any of the above prompts (or got beaten to the punch by another), so my wildcard space is going to be a few fic links without the extra detail because I’ve already spent about 12 hours on this to get to this point (did I get sidetracked and re-read a bunch?  You bet) and I’d quite like to also get some fic written today, too!
My favorite part of The Fellowship of the Ring
(Brace yourself - this is probably not going to make much sense at all.)
So it’s been a while since I’ve rewatched The Fellowship of the Ring and I might not be remembering everything perfectly. But my favorite part - my favorite part of the entire movie - is during this one scene. Boromir is being effected by the Ring, he’s acting a bit ... off. I don’t remember all the specifics, whether Boromir is talking about how someone else should carry the Ring, or how they might be able to use something so powerful, or whatever, but the scene is pretty tense and everyone’s on edge. I think Aragorn orders him to back up and snaps him out of it. But we’re focusing on Boromir’s almost hypnotized movements, we’re focused on Frodo’s nervous eyes and Aragorn’s sharp, commanding tone. Then Boromir comes back to his senses and slowly withdraws and pretends nothing happened, and we all take a collective sigh of relief, and we were so focused on the drama between Boromir and Frodo, and then the camera pans this quick shot of Aragorn’s hand carefully easing off the hilt of his sword. Like, I love that shot. Because despite the fact that nothing bad or even threatening is happening, that scene has this eerie sort of tenseness to it - Boromir’s not acting aggressive or evil, yet Frodo’s got this look on his face. Frightened, but not certain if he should be, not quite able to say why. Boromir isn’t a threat ... but the promise of a threat hangs heavy in the air and the audience can practically taste it, but they don’t quite know where to turn their attention. Boromir? The Ring? If Boromir were drawing his own weapon, he could be disarmed and the threat taken care of. Instead, he’s reaching like a lover and despite the fact that warning bells are going off in your head you don’t know how to resolve the issue. Nothing’s wrong but something’s wrong, and Boromir isn’t attacking, but ....
And everyone feels so defenseless in this scene, because how do you fight this kind of an enemy? The Ring isn’t violent - it’s seductive. The enemy is in Boromir’s head and around Frodo’s neck, and despite the fact that everyone can tell that this is wrong, the audience doesn’t know how to stop it, or even if it can be stopped. And everything about this scene is so uncertain. So when we see Aragons easing off his weapon, that’s something solid, something certain.
We didn’t even see him reach for it. And despite the fact that he clearly knows something’s off with Boromir and commands him to back off, we’re still asking ourselves, What if Boromir takes the Ring? What if he turns evil? What’s about to happen? And when we see this shot, we see that Aragorn knows, just like we, the audience, know. The fact that he sees the threat of the Ring and is prepared to act on it. Because we saw the Ring affected Bilbo, and now Boromir - who’s to say it won’t affect Sam, or Legolas, or the entire fellowship? Yes, they might be fighting Ringwraiths and orcs and all that, but the real enemy is right there in their midst, and that moment is when we know Aragorn knows it. And is prepared to fight for it.
It’s also a confirmation for the audience. Throughout this whole scene, all the danger is potential. Boromir doesn’t threaten Frodo. Throughout this scene there’s this little part that whispers, Boromir hasn’t done anything wrong. Do we even have to be afraid right now? Yes, this is bad, but how afraid should we be right now, exactly? This quick, 2 second shot tells us, Very. Be very afraid. Don’t let your guard down.
(Also, this shot is a delightfully subtle showcase of Aragorn’s protectiveness of Frodo. I love his relationship with Frodo, and how noble he is and how seriously he takes his vows to protect Frodo, and this shot captures that all perfectly.)
I remember once I was watching Fellowship with my best friend and we came to this scene, and I guess I glanced away from the screen for just a moment, and she said, “I love that part.” I looked up again. “That part where you see Aragorn ease off his sword.” And I was like, “No. I missed it! That’s my favorite part!” And she paused the movie immediately and was all, “Oh, no. You can’t miss that part - it’s the best part. You want me to rewind it? Let’s rewind it.” And honestly that’s true friendship - being willing to rewind and rewatch two scenes just so you best friend can revel in the entire impact of her favorite 2-second-shot of a three hour movie.
