This weird plant is the recently described Bolivian endemic Gorgonidium striatum. Endemic means it's native to only one place and nowhere else - in this case, tropical rainforests on the eastern Andean slopes in Bolivia. As a member of the family Araceae, it has a spadix and spathe inflorescence, which means it has a spike of many tiny flowers (here they're dark purple-brown) surrounded by a big bract (modified leaf), which here is both mottled and striped with green, cream, and a bit of purple. It's an interesting one!

Monstera deliciosa 🪴
Information -
Kingdom: Plantae
Order: Alismatales
Family: Araceae
Genus: Monstera
Species: M. deliciosa
Monstera deliciosa, the Swiss cheese plant or split-leaf philodendron is a species of flowering plant native to tropical forests of southern Mexico, south to Panama. It has been introduced to many tropical areas, and has become a mildly invasive species in Hawaii, Seychelles, Ascension Island and the Society Islands. It is very widely grown in temperate zones as a houseplant.
It is called Swiss Cheese Plant due to their natural leaf holes. The Monstera plant's scientific name, Monstera deliciosa, derives from the Latin words "monstrum" meaning "monster" and "deliciosa" meaning "delicious."
Monstera plants are natural detoxifiers. Their broad leaves absorb and strip away indoor air toxins. The ideal temperature it requires is around 70°F. With a little humidity added to that, they get to feel right at home. Monsteras need bright light but do not tolerate direct sunlight. They can survive in low light, but their growth will be inhibited. To grow a striking Monstera plant with the lacy leaves and the coloration you adore, you need to provide it with good light. Monstera prefers bright indirect light. Keep out of direct sunlight for extended periods, as it can burn the leaves.
It is safe to come into skin contact with Monstera soil, foliage, and stems. However, it is not safe to ingest any part of the plant. Monstera is mildly toxic to humans and is toxic to cats and dogs but is not considered lethal. All parts of the plant are harmful to ingest except the fully ripe fruit, which rarely develops on indoor Monstera. The toxicity comes from insoluble oxalate crystals in the juices inside the plant. Indoor Monstera Deliciosa doesn’t yield fruits.
In various cultures, the Monstera has been a beacon of good luck, protection, and prosperity. It also fills spaces with positive energy and attracts good luck, according to Feng Shui.
Tips to grow and maintain Monstera:
Light: The plant thrives in bright and indirect light. It is advisable to keep it on a windowsill that receives good amount of indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight may burn its leaves. Note, if you find the leaves have small or no holes, then it means that the plant is not getting adequate light.
Soil:Use soil that retains moisture. Peat moss, perlite, and compost helps in the plant growth.
Watering: Ensure that Monstera Deliciosa is planted in a pot with good draining facility. The right time to water the plant is when the soil looks dry at the top. Note, overwatering may lead to root rot. During summers, the plant needs water regularly, however decrease the frequency of watering during winters.
Humidity: This plant grows well in humid conditions. You can mist its leaves or place it in a water tray having pebbles to increase the humidity level around it.
Temperature: Monstera Deliciosa grows well between 18°C and 29°C.
Support: As Monstera Deliciosa is an understory plant with aerial roots and large leaves, it needs support to grow.
Pruning: Prune the plant to maintain its shape. Remove yellow or damaged leaves so that the plant grows well.
Propagation: Monstera Deliciosa can be propagated through stem cuttings that can be rooted into water or directly planted into soil. You can also choose the process of air layering that involves creating a root system in a mature stem when it is still attached to the mother plant. Once roots are developed, the stem can be separated.

The Arum family (Araceae) consists of terrestrial or aquatic shrubs, vines, or herbs. Amorphophallus is a large genus of about 200 tropical and subtropical tuberous herbs of the Arum family. Fifteen Amorphophallus species have been reported from Myanmar, five of which are known to be endemic. A local plant enthusiast has recently found an unknown Amorphophallus species, flowering in May and June 2023 in Hpa-an District, Kayin State. He then sent the samples to a researcher in Myanmar. After meticulously examining its morphology and comparing it with protologues and relevant literature, as well as with digitized type specimens of Amorphophallus from across Myanmar and neighboring countries, researchers from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and their collaborators confirmed that the collected specimens represent a new species.

Fat Duckweed (Lemna gibba)
Family: Arum Family (Araceae)
IUCN Conservation Status: Least Concern
A tiny aquatic plant found in slow-moving or stagnant freshwater habitats across much of Africa, Europe and the Americas, Fat Duckweed floats freely on the surface of the water, respiring and carrying out photosynthesis through a buoyant leaf-like “main body” called a thallus while its single submerged root hangs down and absorbs inorganic nutrients such as nitrogen (which plants need to produce chlorophyll) from the water around it. Although they do occasionally produce flowers (particularly when exposed to intense sunlight and low water levels,) members of this species primarily reproduce asexually, with the thallus developing bud-like offshoots that split of into new but genetically identical offspring, and through this method of reproduction (which can occur every few days) Fat Duckweeds can quickly spread over vast areas, potentially near-totally covering the surface of the body of water they inhabit under ideal conditions. The root of an adult Fat Duckweed is sticky, allowing members of this species to compensate for their limited ability to spread their rarely-produced seeds by adhering to semiaquatic animals such as ducks, allowing them to be carried between bodies of water and colonise new areas (hence the name, “duckweed.”) If an individual should fall from the animal that was carrying it before reaching a suitable body of water, it may also be able to survive in sufficiently damp soil.

*Knocks on your door innocently*
Hi chat, it's Uly anon are you surprised to see me? I hope not
HEY, I'VE BEEN DELAYING SENDING THIS ASK FOR SO LONG because I'm kind of awkward BUT I LOVE YOUR OCS. WHAT THE HELL, AND YOUR ARTSTYLE??? I'M GOING TO GOBBLE IT UP
Like, just let me steal your art rq /SILLY
Words can't describe how much I love your artstyle though like GOSH SODJFJFJRJEJRJ
Okay okay, so I don't really know how to word this but I love misses and I also love Raena, if you are ever so kind. . .I would like to know anything that hasn't really been said IF YOU ARE SO INCLINED
But to be soooooo honest, I really love Raena, and he makes me so sad. So great job on doing that, because those are usually the best characters. I just *sighs* love Raena and Azazel 😔
MISHA !!!! ULYSSES !!!! They are a train reck, I fear, and I LIVE for it. GOSH they are so silly willy
Also, if you don't know, it's basically my full-time job to fangirl so I'm so sorry about that 😓
I hope this finds you well !!! And have a great day :)
-Ulysses loving anon
haha, hello uly anon! its really nice to see you as well! im really glad you enjoy my art (mine art style ..... You Ate it....... UAAAAA) and my characters!!!
don't worry about being a fangirl, its really flattering and exciting for me that people find my characters interesting (all thanks to neon!! love you so much. SIBLING BLAST! :]) and fun!
moving on, i believe neon has talked a lot about misses in general, however misha on her own is mostly my realm (of course, shes my character...) so i will give you general information about her, haha! dont worry, she has some relation to raena (whose information has almost been exhausted), so i will touch on him eventually.
misha kiselyov is the owner of a clothing brand within novaturient. her company is surprisingly not that predatory (at least for novaturient standards), yet not completely absolved from flaws and things of the such. aside from that, she does participate in the creation of clothing, and shes quite a prodigy in fashion design. in her free time, she does on-request tailoring of the highest quality!
she met ulysses through a one-time date, and they did decide that a relationship was just, Not For Them, but continued talking to eachother. kind of as a rebound, and also because...
well. misha's husband was killed in the war! (his name was elpenor!) he kind of fell and died because he was drunk. whoops. but misha's son received the letter of his death, and misha wished to take revenge on ulysses after the death of her son, ilia kiselyov. (he died during a magical girl duel, unrelated to the war)
this is why she has a weird situationship with her. to make things short, she kept talking and asking for favors of him and essentially maintaining a 'relationship' with him to eventually enact her plan. this didnt work. she fell for him.
why favors, you ask? well, misha did eventually remarry. she married miss aracea! an inquisitor that did really fucked up shit with her husband in the denizen district!
and ulysses told her about this before they got married. what a nice guy! misha did take this at face value, since he wasnt lying, but didnt really hold affection for miss aracea anymore. its okay, because miss aracea's daughter, mikhailis aracea, kind of went crazy and killed her parents! not misha. she loves misha.
misha used ulysses to get contacts to other corpheads and get the best opportunities for her daughter, whom she proceded to adopt after the death of both araceas.
however, she isn't an only child. her brother is none other than raena mondlicht iuris! due to his parents' history as inquisitors, he decided to fully distance himself from his family, and that included poor mikhailis. mikhailis really loves her brother, though, even if hes painfully neutral about her.
as it stands, misha really does care and love for ulysses. its... a bit painful for her, actually. she feels like shes betraying her diseased fiance, but at the same time, she really couldnt help it. its destined to fail, though. misha is no penelope, and nothing will change that. but she also loves toying and messing with him. it did get her injured a few times (we dont talk about the twice-happening roleplay cannibalism incident. we do, actually.) but shes a strong woman!
i think that's a lot of information. i may be missing a bunch, but it's more fun to not share everything sometimes! hope you enjoyed, uly anon! :) happy to see you around here!
art cred: @ / wolvzephyr (here on tumblr!)

The Chemistry Behind Dropping Bodhisattva
Giant Taro (Alocasia macrorrhizos), known as "Dropping Bodhisattva" in households, is a common ornamental plant in the Araceae family. Its toxicity is well-known, primarily due to high levels of calcium oxalate, hydrogen cyanide, and alkaloids in its sap. Calcium oxalate, an insoluble, needle-shaped crystal often found as the hydrate "CaC2O4·H2O," is a plant defense against herbivores.
Its low solubility and needle-like structure can cause itching, swelling, and numbness upon skin contact. Ingesting its stems, leaves, or taro-like tubers can lead to severe oral and esophageal irritation, mouth numbness, throat swelling, and a strong burning sensation. In large quantities, combined with other toxins, it may cause respiratory distress and digestive issues, and in severe cases, can lead to coma or death. Please always take care of yourself and avoid ingestion.

What flower would look best in Ling’s cafe?
Good question! I feel like the aesthetic of Ling's cafe is one of harmony and mechanical balance, where the furniture nicely compliments the function. Right now, I would recommend the Araceae plant family, including the Taro plant which is commonly used as vegetables. There's also the Arum plant, which is known for medicinal uses for constipation, colds, and congestion. I feel Ling would be rather excited to integrate this into what he cooks! Or it could serve as a nice look. Lastly, I would recommend the Anthurium, the largest genus in the family. It's quite undemanding in its needs - it prefers bright, indirect indoors light and for what it takes, it gives a lot! It's a natural air purifier, giving the cafe that fresh breath as though it's just been opened. Ah, heh, I did it again. Made a long post. In short, I'd recommend the Araceae plant family, which serves a wide variety of uses in each of its genus.

Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)
Family: Arum Family (Araceae)
IUCN Conservation Status: Unassessed
Also known as the Bog Onion or Brown Dragon Arum, the Jack-in-the-Pulpit is a small and highly unusual plant found across much of eastern North America. Growing to be around 60cm (2ft) tall, it bears its tiny flowers between March and June on a long spike-like structure surrounded by a large striped leaf known as a pulpit or spathe (which serves to protect the fragile flowers, provides a surface for pollinators to land on and attracts pollinators with its striking patterns, and which is often mistaken for the plant's flower) and is unusual among plants in that it is a sequential hermaphrodite; young adult individuals produce exclusively pollen-producing "male" flowers, but as they age they begin to produce a progressively larger number of pollen-receiving, seed-producing "female" flowers, with all of the flowers on older individuals being "female." The curved internal structure of the pulpit makes it difficult for insects to leave it the way they entered it, and as the "sex" of a Jack-in-the-Pulpit changes throughout its life, its reproductive strategy also changes; the pulpits of young individuals have small openings on their underside that allow their pollinators (mainly small flies, but also certain beetles) to leave and carry the plant's pollen away from it, but in older "female" individuals, in what is assumed to be an adaptation to ensure that any pollen carried into the pulpit is transferred to the flowers, the pulpit has no such opening, trapping the insects permanently and making this species a very rare example of a plant that kills its pollinators. As a defence against herbivorous animals the leaves and stems of Jack-in-the-Pulpits are poisonous and lined with tiny needle-like calcium structures called raphides which cause painful irritation and aid the toxins in entering the tissues of animals that bite or crush the plant, although following pollination "female" flowers develop into small red berries that, after ripening and falling from the plant, can be safely eaten by birds and certain small mammals, allowing the seeds within to be transported away from their parent in the animal's digestive system. Young Jack-in-the-Pulpits are mature enough to bare flowers at around 3 years of age, and enter a state of dormancy in which their leaves and aboveground stems die back each autumn/fall, rapidly re-growing in the spring with the help of a nutrients-filled extension of their roots called a corm. While all populations of Jack-in-the-Pulpits were historically regarded as belonging to a single species, genetic evidence now suggests that they are likely a species complex (a group of very closely related and near-identical species that are difficult to reliably distinguish from one another,) made up of at least 4 distinct species with a possible 5th species being recognised by some authorities.

HE SEEMS SO MELLOW AND JUST SO CALM YKNOW... /pos
He looks so tireddd, my baby 😭💖💖💖💖 I WILL be protecting him TRUST
He gives such a field of flowers while it's storming.. IF THAT MAKES SENSE ??? HELP
I WANNA SQUEEZE HIM AND TURN HIM INTO A SMALL LITTLE BEAN 😈😈/silly
Such a silly little goober...💖💖💖💖

OH HEY YOU FOUND RAENA... it's a little funny how you seem to find the guys related to novaturient in one way or another, but they're silly raena mondlicht iuris (that's his full name) is in two different settings, actually! one of them would be kescorp (which i already elaborated on in my post about scylla); and another one is in novaturient, where he briefly works as a lawyer under peneume (from project martyr!) i'll divide them into their own separate paragraphs just for claritys sake, buuuut: kescorp raena and novaturient raena are actually quite different, but maintain one principle/essence kescorp's raena is just some lawyer guy. he works in the sanitization department, but really, he mostly takes care of any legal issues regarding the facility, and the various crimes against the head's alws that are committed. he gets absolutely no breaks, and is just constantly struggling. during this time, he's able to meet azazel, who's been given special permissions from the manager himself to do fuck all, pretty much. and constantly has to ask raena to take care of the various crimes (usually some form of murder. i dont remember LOL i just remember the vehicular manslaughter comic that neon made) that they commit. as this goes on, they develop a "relationship" and hit it off from there, but hera decides to troll them a bit and essentially starts straining their relationship to the point that they both just kind of, distort and start fighting. and afterwards hera returns them to normal and this weird cycle starts
novaturient's raena is honestly some of my favorite writing. he's azazel's girlfriend! they're coworkers, and i'm pretty sure it was azazel themselves who had helped raena get a position there after raena himself had some work struggles. though after a series of bad events, raena eventually had to get a magical girl contract and divide himself between law work at the office, and having to go out there and fight vagabonds. it's terribly straining and honestly sad to watch him change overtime, since there *is* a difference between how they look during this time. though i won't elaborate much on what happens with raena and azazel, since i forget exactly how much neon has shared about the plot of projmar, all i'll keep elaborating on is that iuris is not his birth last name; he just changed it to keep distance from his parents since they did help do some pretty bad things in one of the districts at some point he also has a sister—mikhailis aracea! who is currently misha kiselyov's adoptive daughter ^_^ oh yeah. one shitpost from him is that he rejected helping ulysses through one of his many divorces because raena refuses to do any sort of family law in the city. sooooooooo HES ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLORBOS THOUGH IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE HIM! he has a lot of inspiration from the whole little red story (he sometimes just is the girl, the wolf, the lumberjack or all at once) and raena/azazel's relationship is so so very important to me. all ill finish on is the fact that raena actually really wanted to marry azazel, but well....................... teehee
