Hey so does anyone else remember when Apple Tree Yard came out and everyone was enraged that it wasn't a secret BBC Sherlock episode?

Because our Assad Zaman had a small role in the series and I get war flashbacks everytime it's mentioned.

For those living in blissful ignorance:

In 2017 when the last series of Sherlock aired people were so disappointed by the poor ending they put their detective tinfoil hats on and... clang to some clues that the new show Apple tree yard (with actress Emily Watson?? You know, like John WATSON) is actually some brilliant ploy by Moffat&Gatiss - A cover up - and in its time slot there would actually be a secret new episode of Sherlock that would fix everything 😂

Only to eagerly await it and of course find out the hard way that it IS an actual (rather underwhelming) TV show.

So poor Assad, one of his first on-screen roles (although he only has like 2-3 minutes of screentime?) and all the reception it got was internet full of furious Sherlock fans

I know that (BELIEVES, WANTS) (DOESN'T BELIEVE, WANTS) and (DOESN'T BELIEVE, DOESN'T WANT) all existed in the space of the whole Sherlock TJLC thing... but do you think they ever managed to convince someone who thought they worked better as friends and was like low key mad about it and dreadwatching until the last episode (if not later; I like to imagine this person fucking loved Apple Tree Yard)

just learned one of assad zaman's first roles was in apple tree yard like. the show from the sherlock conspiracies. imagine you start off with your show in a controversy over queerbait because a random episode of sherlock had an apple tree on a wall and then 10 years later you are in THE toxic yaoi of all time getting praised for how much you look like you wanna fuck that old man. he amazes me
