Bucky fic idea

Reader is a child of Apollo and did some quest that granted them a wish and they chose to save people for eternity.

the rule was, as long as they were a doctor or nurse, they would stay young and continue to heal people

however if they wanted to finally rest, they could retire and finally pass

anyway, it’s wwii and Bucky gets rescued by Steve and he was in the hospital to recover

enter reader

bucky is entranced

they get to talking all the time

even after he’s cleared to leave he comes a visits reader

bucky falls in love with reader

hard

reader falls too but knows their mission so they don’t do anything

but it hurts

and because Bucky can tell readers not ready for a relationship he doesn’t ask them out

he still flirts heavily though

then Bucky “dies” on the missions

steve brings reader a letter Bucky left for them just in case

confessing his love and all he wished to do with them

reader almost retired

almost left to join him

but she also knew he would want her to live

time skip to after capcicle defrosted

he’s in the hospital recovering and lo and behold the doctor who works with shield looks exactly like and old friend

he comes to find out that their a “decent” of that friend

and they become fast friends

however steve gets in his little trouble thing with the winter soldier aka Bucky

some how reader gets roped into everything because of injuries and plot

bucky sees them and starts to get flashbacks a shit

hes in love

reader is traumatized

steve go nope

not the same person

Bucky sad

fight seen

reader kicks ass

reveals their true identity

they go to Wakanda together bcs reader is a good doctor and helps with his recovery

reader also helps people of wakanda

so still technically working and living

bucky and reader get together but not in like a regular dating way

they essentially live like a married couple

and I could keep go but I’m gonna stop for now

Do feel like in some cases there’s a disparity between how a char is perceived on tumblr vs the general public ex: Dawn is a lot more well liked by the Buffy fandom on here than she is in general. So some room to debate there, but I went more with like. The general opinion of most casual viewers/readers when in doubt. So chars like Rory / Elena / Devi who have whole video essays dedicated to how annoying / selfish / whiny they are (eye roll.) count to me. And some might be more polarizing than hated, but vitriol when it’s there is extreme enough I felt like I could count them (Grace).

Also re: Shallan (which is the one I’m most hesitant to include because I interact with the fandom least this is just the impression from what I have seen) will say I’ve only read the first two books of Stormlight and don’t really have plans to continue, but she was definitely my favorite part of the experience so I found it wild to find out people thought of her as the worst part LOL.

my first response was right away jason. yeah percy’s gone through so much shit, but at least he always had his mom. i feel like percy would become a villian because he wants to protect people (aka his fatal flaw literally being loyalty) whilst i feel like jason would become a villian because he’s tired of helping people.

in my mind jason’s fatal flaw is loyalty, but in a different way. that’s all he’s ever known, he doesn’t know how to NOT help people. so maybe his fatal flaw isn’t loyalty, but people pleasing. he’s so loyal, but in the end, he wanted to help everyone.

he was on a ledge screaming out “save me” but everyone just pushed him off the cliff. so i think if he survived he probably would have become a villian.
