[Review]

This is the third movie by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit I've watched without knowing it was made by the same director (I only realized it was him because I noticed a similarity in the use of photography to represent nostalgia and the preservation of memories).

I used to watch the trailer and read a few comments before deciding to watch a movie or not (unless it included a favorite director or actor), but I've changed my approach over the last few years. Now, I choose movies based on the poster and the synopsis (sometimes the poster is enough), or if I'm interested in a specific theme, director, actor, or country.

The last two reasons brought me to this movie (I was on a Thai movie marathon when I saw Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying and I fell in love), and all I can say is wow! Maybe it's where I am in my life right now after finally moving out of my parent's house, maybe it's because of my love for film photography and the idolization of that kind of nostalgia, or maybe the movie is THAT good, but I can't remember the last time I felt so shaken by a film.

The simple task of renewing a house becomes a catharsis to let go of the past. We can see how Jean, a logic-driven person, moves from her initial bluntness towards her friends and family's attachment to the memories hidden in material objects to someone who learns the importance of reminiscing about the past, the importance of acknowledging individual selfishness and more than anything...the importance of letting go.

A beautiful movie that everyone going through a significant change in their life should watch, and a must-see film from Thai cinema.
