Anyway.... Onto my designs! I'll be detailing the stuff I changed/added

First is.,..!! Sir pentious! Weird right? You would think it's Charlie but uh nah, he's my favorite character and I wanted to make him similar to my tastes.

Yes he is trans! I have a small little HC that the egg boys are his boys...

And he is much longer/bigger due to this because of sexual dimorphism! But we love him for who he is now he's so silly :). He also has a barbed tail that I would say is used as a 5th hand! To grab stuff. He already has 4 arms cause why not? He needs to push himself around already..

Next is.. Angel Dust!, he doesn't have an alt version because I feel it's not needed but here he is!

I added pedipalps, those are the mandible looking things. They are a part of spiders I think are so cool and I wanted to add them! Unfortunately they're not counted as legs and adding another set of legs to angel I couldn't figure out... But good enough!

I also changed his eyes! To include a spiderweb, I'm not entirely sure why he has that black eye, so I thought I would change it up a little bit.

A friend gave an idea that his sight from that eye is kaleidoscope-like so I'm implementing that too! And how could I forget! The spiderbutt! Without it it's kinda weird looking so I wanted to add it in cus it's so cute

Next up.... Husk! He's one of my favorite characters so.. kinda went all out on him

I didn't change much about him besides his patterns and colors, but generally his silhouette is the same!

I wanted to add a lot more feathers and fluff to him! And putting on the casino style bringing back the spades and hearts to his wings again!

I thought the spades were funny

Up next.. Vox!

I found his design interesting that he is a flat screen TV even though he died in the 50's? So I decided to change that! Turning him into a box TV again!

And giving him a cable tail, I thought it would be clever that when sleeps he charges himself up for the day!

Next up... niffty! She's the last character I've designed so far!

Also while looking up her historically accurate date I found out she's 22??? Weird... But yeah she did end up looking a little older here I'm glad, but I really wanted to give her a bigger needle! What's she gonna do with that small thing?

And her dress is based on 50's maid outfits! With the addition of an embroidered poodle!

Why?

Well first I'm crazy and second, I've been now made aware that the show itself does a certain type of representation so disgustingly that I'd rather make my own designs and fix what they couldn't do.

An analyse of Umbrella Academy s4's posters (beware of s3 spoilers, ofc)

Hi! Today, the official Umbrella Academy Instagram account published season 4 posters, and since I'm very excited about this, I'm gonna try to analyse the posters, or what I can tell about them.

It's going to be long so grab a snack if you want / can, put on a cool playlist, and let's dive down! I'm going to do it poster by poster, in the order it was posted, from the oldest post to the newest (so not in numeral order).

We can notice that the characters are cut in two, the Portal way.

Anyway. First of all: Viktor !

Ngl, I had a moment when I saw he had the masculine uniform.

But past my joyful moment, my mind went racing so fast I couldn't keep it down, I had to share my thoughts (even if there may be only one person reading me, but whatever).

First thing first, it's interesting that the first one isn't Luther but Viktor, who is, the main character of the show (or at least, that's how I see it). Or a least the most important one. (if the last scene is Viktor ending his reading of his new book, about his siblings, not only would it be a fucking good epanadiplosis but it would make me cry the hell out of me)

After all, the show open with him, following him. And nothing would happen if it wasn't for him. He's the one trying to get the family stick together, and (unwillingly) starting apocalypse (twice or thrice, shit happens).

Let's focus on the poster now. On the left, we have a clothing reminding us of the Umbrella Academy days, or rather the "how it was before the show", except they are adult, and Viktor is here shown post-transition (and not pre-, as he was in the first two seasons). What does that mean? Fuck if I know. That being said, I think it have its importance (if they wanted to put children instead, they would have, wouldn't they?). However, we can note that he is not wearing neither the boy shorts (nor girl's skirt, for obvious reasons), but some secretly third option, aka a grey pant (is it the sport pant?). He is standing out himself, as a trans man (not wearing a skirt, yet not wearing the boy uniform either, as if he wasn't fully in that category somehow? idk).

Viktor's posture is straight (lol), and I associate it with being calm, obedient (he listen to everything Reginald says (ex: take these pills), and since Reginald is perceived as a father figure, it makes sense that Viktor wants to obey him, maybe hoping he (Viktor) will be loved and recognized as valuable). And also with being like a puppet. Or a muppet. The point is: He's not free of his movement, he doesn't have free will.

His face doesn't look happy. Nor sad. Just... neutral. He's just... there.

On the right, we can't see his face, yet his posture seems way more relaxed! He's wearing casual clothes, more modern ones, adapted to the world without powers they're now seems to live at the end of season 3.

His looks reminds me of the one of Tyler Ronan from Tell Me Why, a game by the studio Don't Nod (I fucking love that game). Both characters are trans man.

Anyway. Casual clothes. Blue, like the uniform. I won't analyse that, this post is already long enough.

Tbh, I haven't saw again the last episode of season 3, so I don't remember if it was the clothes they were wearing or new ones.

Also, Viktor is holding an umbrella in his right hand, probably a reference to the Umbrella days. Like, it's a part of him, he can't leave it behind, he physically have it with him (even if he doesn't have the power).

And the Umbrella is closed, unlike the ones from the previous seasons's posters.

Like, season 2's were opened (and full), and season 3's were opened and damaged (and they were hiding the protagonists' faces, showing implicitly the influence of the academy on them).

Next one, Luther !

We almost can see his face on the right!

But anyway, let's start by the left. Luther is walking, straight, in what could be either a military walk or a relaxed one (? don't quote me on this please, I can't explain). His posture screams "confidence" and "I'm number one, I'm a leader, follow me!". Or something like that, I'm no posture reader, just someone who watched way too much police and detective shows. He's wearing the Umbrella uniform (and it's so fucking weird to see it on a grown ass man!). His hair are cut short.

On the right, he's wearing a more casual look. There's something going one with his arm muscles, but I can't be bother to search what. His hair are longer than on the left. He is wearing gloves and an umbrella, and walking shoes. His umbrella is cutting his name (does it have some symbolism? Maybe.)

He's still wearing blue (like Viktor), even if it's a different kind of blue (and it kinda fit him).

Nothing more to add. (yes, I have my favorites, and despite liking Luther, I won't kill my eyesight anymore than necessary for details).

Next! Diego!

Let me preface this by saying that it's so fucking weird to see him in that uniform. On the left, he's walking like a good little soldier, following the leader.

On the right, he's the embodiment of a relax guy who can (and will) definitely yeet you out of the picture if needed. He's not wearing anything casual. It's more like a killer / soldier clothes, with his precious knifes.

DOES HE HAVE A MUSTACHE????

He's holding the Umbrella on the shoulder, as if he can't be bothered with it (and/ or he's gonna use it as a weapon).

Next! Not number 3, but the one who's linked to Diego! Lila!

Love that she's officially "Lila Hargreeves".

The left outfit is like the one she had in season 2 when she was with the Handler and stuff about her past was revealed (so interesting and meaningful choice of outfit). Her heels are thin, as if she wasn't stable (with her life situation and all).

Yet, on the right, her heels are thicker, more stable to move (she's more free to go).

Her clothes are modern and the flowers fit her really well, I might say. Her hair are put up, like the active badass woman she is. They're brown again, and not white/ blond anymore, it's more natural.

She overall looks like a business woman, with a casual chic.

She too, is holding an umbrella, which make her fully part of the family. She hold it casually.

Next, another girl: Allison.

Ngl, I'm no big fan of hers, so this will be short.

On the left, she's confidently wearing her UA (Umbrella Academy) uniform. Her hand move don't really feel natural (saying this as someone who sometimes draws human beings). Her hair are like the one from season 1.

On the right, she looks like a business woman and a mom. Her posture looks aslo determined, while relaxed. She have business to do, and no one will stop/ prevent her from doing so!

Girl power and all that.

(I'm trying, I really can't stand how her character was wrote during season 3)

Neeeeext! Let's go with one of my fav, Klaus!

I have to say, it is criminal that a) his hair are short on th right side (loved his long hair) and b) where's the skirt?! He slayed in it! Anyway.

On the left, his walking looks very mechanical, as if he was a machine, a robot (lol) (I won't do any joke about Grace). Yet, his posture his not natural (no one walks naturally torso in one way and legs in another, if that makes some sense).

His eyes are closed. Why are his eyes closed? Idk. Maybe he closing his eyes on what happened during the UA days. Maybe it’s symbolizing his absence of choice. His face is still, resigned, accepting his fate. Maybe to show he’s kinda dead inside?

Klaus had always been closed to death, more or less metaphorically speaking, as he can see ghosts (= dead people, or what remains of them).

His hair is all over the place, reminding the crazy days he had to get fucking blasted to avoid said ghosts.

Right side is colorful. He's beauty, he's grace, WHERE ARE HIS HAIR?! No but more seriously, cutting one's own hair symbolise change in many culture, and more specifically letting go of the past, embracing new beginnings, and/ or undergoing spiritual or personal transformations. I have no idea how to interpret that.

He seems to float, to ascend (plz don't kill him). He is bare foot (bare feet? idk) (fun fact: in the comics, he could only use his power when sober and with bare feet) (I won't go down the rabbit hole of barefoot symbolism and its link with death, I'm not mentally well enough to do that).

He his wearing a yellow coat with flowers (flowers, like Lila!). Yellow is associated with joy, fest, sun (and Klaus is a comic relief, a feel good sunshine character), and flower, life. (again, plz don't kill him)

What reinforce that idea of tragedy is that the umbrella he's wearing is the only one who isn't black: it's the umbrella he was holding during Reggie's funeral in s1. Plus, he's holding it with three fingers out. What's the meaning of three? Idk. Maybe it’s for Allison? Maybe it has a link with God (the Christian one)? Yk, Holy Trinity and all that. After all, doesn't Klaus met God (the little girl in the afterlife) regularly?

Does that look good or bad for Klaus? No idea.

Speaking about looking good, Ben is back, alive. I won' t go far enough to say "well", but he's alive.

On the left, he's standing straight, walking in a unnatural posture. Following only.

On the right, he is bend (idk why tho) forward (his hips are forward his shoulders, curbing like a closing bracket). His clothes are casual (and looking alike the one Viktor had been wearing during s3). His umbrella also cut his name (like Luther's). He's a Vans' boy!

We can't see if he's wearing glasses or not.

Last of the Hargreeves kids (if you count Lila as one, and if not, last one of the power-gifted Hargreeves): Five.

On the left, his posture is haughty. His hands are in his pants pockets. He know what he wants, he is very sure of himself, maybe because he thinks he is better than everyone (he can think that, given what happened) (some might even say he have a bratty attitude, but I'll answer, well have you seen him during season 1???)

(my personal theory is that he is bend forward to be smaller on the left than on the right, because he appears to be)

On the right, he left the UA uniform for a more formal suit (some call it 'the grandpa / old man suit'). His hair are longer.

He's walking down like he had no shit to give anymore (he doesn't) and he's ready to throw hands (he totally his).

HOLY (S)HIT HE'S HOLDING THE UMBRELLA IN HIS RIGHT HAND! Why? Why is he te only one wearing the umbrella on the other hand? Is it to accentuate his difference with his siblings (+ Lila)? Is it to show how differently he see his time at the UA an how differenlty he uses his powers? I mean, given he didn't spend as much time in the UA as the rest of them, ofc his vision and perception of the UA is different. Even his vision of time is different.

Or he’s just left-handed.

And now, BEWARE! THE REGINALD JUMPSCARE! (or is it scare jump? Anyway, I've been working on this post for more than an hour and a half, plz be indulgent, it's late and the day had been long)

On the left, we see the whole umbrella for the firs time on these posters. Said umbrella is closed but not entirely (it could be open anytime).

Reggie is wearing a lilac/ purple suit, which is a color hard to dye (so it costed a lot and was reserved for royalty / rich ppl before industrialization and the use of chemical products for clothes dye; and we know Reggie arrived/ was on Earth on 19th c., so during the industrialization). He is “young” looking (like he was in the 60s), and seems well assorted (who tf have two jacket pockets on the same side tho?)

On the right, he's old and wearing a brown suit. Brown can symbolize the Earth, which can provide: ppl are depend on it to eat and therefore survive. In a way, he was a Earth for his children, as they were dependent on him (does that makes him a good father? Absolutely not!). (that thought, of Reggie being a Earth, is funny given he is an alien / an extraterrestrial being)

And if you put them all in order, you get :

STUDY IN LOKI ROMANCE

Part 4: Heart of the TVA

Since we're only a few days away from the last episode, I decided to COUNT DOWN everything we´ve got so far ( that can be interpreted very easily as romantic ) and discuss what the actual fuck is going on with second season. Because even though I shipped lokius practically from S1E2, I absolutely did NOT expect this kind of development. (Not that I´m complaining)

Warning: This is gonna be LONG post, lots of screenshots, lots of SPOILERS, lot of "oh-my-god-they-so-cute" language, and little bit of meta.

I originally thought that this post would be everything at once, but since I have just too many screenshots this time around, I´ll have to split it. so every post will be one episode. Color coding means:

IIIIIIIIII = anything, that coud potentialy be just acting choice.

IIIIIIIIII = everything else (tzn.: whatever was written, and/or carefully prepared by filmmakers. )

side note: I already wrote, about how amazing it is, that Mobius is unable to fight but fights anyway and how beautifuly, and ridiculously brave he is HERE. But this is about Loki/Mobius interactions, so I´ll try my best not to talk about THAT. (Even when I´m really happy, that s2 continues with this formula and Mobius is still his completely defenseless while aggressively brave self. I love him, btw.)

check-list, episode 4 (my beloved): 33) changing clothes together not to be that person, but like... they always went through the door from TVA on timeline in their "camouflage disguises". So Loki couldn't use his magic to change their clothes. I mean... they even make turning off system that prevents magic plot point in this episode So unless they have some special device in TVA (which was never established) It is implied, that these two just spend some time changing clothes together, before going out. And that brings me to this specific moment: At the end of the previous episode we see them going through the time door (fairly soon after Victor Timely, in 1893 clothing) And this episodes starts with Victor ariving at TVA and wondering around the empty hallways. Alone. So let me get this straight: After we see them both walk through the time door, they end in that war room (were they met in ep1), just the two of them. Victor is.... somewhere. who knows where, who even cares? And they though: it is actualy priority number one to change our clothes. Yes, right now. Never mind, we have He Who Remains variant wondering around the TVA and everything is going to explode soon. We have to take our clothes off. RIGHT THE FUCK NOW. I´m sorry, film makers, but what the acual f-

34) Bickering like married couple (part 4) (but this time with EVERYONE else watching them with question marks above their heads. And these two idiots husbands probably didn´t even noticed xDD )

Also.... "It´s got your shape" 😳 really? really Mobius? And how would you- oh sorry, my bad, never mind. I almost forget you were changing clothes togheter MULTIPLE TIMES, so of course you would know that. ... right? 35) The "misunderstanding trope"

This whole scene is just... jeeez! Sylvie screeming at Mobius for wanting cake (while Loki already knows, that Mobius wants it, because he is in a stress.) He tries to stop Sylvie, but she continues. Loki circles around her and ends up right between them (cough...smybolism...cough) And Sylvie starts attacking Mobius because he doesn´t want to know his life on a timeline. While Loki is RIGHT THERE, knowing perfectly well Mobiuses reason´s and how bad she is hurting him, because episode 2 happened. Loki knows. And then she leaves, and Loki follows her. But Mobius doesn´t know, what we know: and that he went to her to DEFEND HIM. Jeeeeeeez writers.... thanks, for this perfect example of romantic complication. Dramatic irony 100%. I´m living for this relationship drama while everything around them collapses and explodes. 10/10 television!

Also... poor man needed pick-me-up cocoa drink immediately after 😭

36) Pie scene number two I have to say, I LOVED this scene. EVERY FUCKING WORD. philosophical conflicts? yes please. moral dilemas? give me more! but let´s focus on Loki defending Mobius. Him bringing up Thor into the coversation, and comparing his change on Earth (that he didn´t understand before) to his own change that came from spending time at TVA. spending time with Mobius. And he is standing infront of pies this whole time! basicly him low key comparing Thor´s love for Jane to his love for Mobius

And let´s not forget how obvious the difference between two pie scenes is! Because the first one is full of relaxed gestures, kindness and understanding. Just Loki and Mobius being intimite and open with each other 🥹 In glaring contrast with that, THIS scene, with Sylvie is full of conflict, tention and disagreements. The are standind, far from each other, and whole room has completely different (horror like) vibe.

My ideas on who the culprit(s) could be

Now, I'm going in order of least likely to most likely according to ME. I could be way off the mark but these are just my own feelings on the matter 😭

1) Watari

This is purely because she said she would go and fetch Hayashi and Yanagi to help her and Hama investigate Kamimura's body in the art room, but didn't return with them when they did arrive.

She was gone for all of a few minutes, which is definitely not enough time to set up the trap in the woodshop entrance. Not to mention how she went above and beyond by using the luminol from the chem lab to investigate Kamimura's crime scene.

But I'm putting her here anyway because if she DOES turn out to be the killer and this is the nail in the coffin as to why, I'll scream in shock at how I managed to pick up on such a little detail.

2) Ken

I really don't think Ken had anything to do with either murder. For one, he discovered Kamimura's body and triggered the alarm, which automatically clears him as a suspect (the alarm only goes off when somebody other than the killer stumbles across a body for the first time). I'm hoping this means he also had nothing to do with the trap in the woodshop either.

3) Wada

He's OBVIOUSLY being framed. From the forged note to the saw perfectly placed in his attached shower, everything seems way too obvious for it to be Wada. He would have had no incentive to kill anybody, much less Kamimura.

Now, it could be argued that he set up the trap in the art supply room in the hopes of killing Okazaki for all the abuse they'd inflicted on him. But instead, he accidentally killed Kamimura.

If this is the case, why would Wada go on to to absolutely MANGLE his body after his death? There would be no point. Similarly to Ken, he can be ruled out as a suspect in Tsuno's death because he was present for her death and so triggered the body discovery alert. If he set up two traps and failed each time, then it wouldn't have gone off for Tsuno's death.

4) Okazaki

I really don't think Okazaki did either murder. But if I'm pushing it, they MAY have tampered with the case Byakuya-style.

Firstly, Okazaki is another painfully obvious suspect in this case. They're outwardly violent, sadistic, and creepy. That's why it's so hard to imagine them actually killing, because it would be immediately obvious it was them.

Secondly, I think one or both of the traps had been set up for them. By who, I'll get to later. But after Kamimura was caught in the first and died, maybe Okazaki carried out their desire for there to be a "more interesting murder" by desecrating his corpse in such a brutal, heartless way.

It's obvious that there was no gain on the killer's end to Kamimura losing his head, tongue, and being bound. I'm thinking that Kamimura got staked in the gut upon entering the art supply room, which disemboweled and killed him (obviously). The killer comes along, sees that they potentially got the wrong person (if Kamimura is indeed not the intended target), and dismantles their trap, and sets it up again in the woodshop.

Then Okazaki comes along and, pulling a Chapter 2 Byakuya move, decides to make things more interesting by messing with his body. Severing the tongue, decapitating the head, tying Kamimura to the chair with his own hoodie to make it look like torture, etc.

As for Tsuno's death, that trap could very well have been intended for Okazaki too. But as they didn't enter the woodshop, it didn't get them again.

Idk, there's just something about Okazaki being the killer that doesn't feel right. There's a bunch of missing pieces to this puzzle.

I can only see Okazaki being a killer if they had an accomplice..

5) Tamba

Tamba was not present at ALL this investigation. Neither was Okazaki for that matter, which could be drafted up as neither of them finding anything of note during their investigation, but that seems a little too perfect of an excuse. We've had episodes dedicated to portions where the investigation draws up nothing, and they're still included.

It is possible that Okazaki and Tamba were working together in this case. I believe the original rule from DR, that being an accomplice has nothing to gain from assisting in a murder, applies to Tetro. But since there were TWO murders committed, potentially by two different people, then maybe there are two blackened for this case.

That would give these two the opportunity to get out together, if they did indeed work together.

Another thing is that Tamba, in the short time we saw her at the start of the investigation, was VERY adamant about not investigating the woodshop. She said this was for fear of coming across Kamimura's severed head (which hadn't been discovered at this point, and believed to have been removed with a saw from the woodshop). Although, it could also just as easily be because she was aware a trap had been laid within the woodshop, and wasn't about to get herself skewered.

Maybe Okazaki set up one trap and Tamba another? Maybe Tamba set up both? Maybe she intended to kill Kamimura? Or Hayashi? Or even Okazaki in a total backstabbing move. Similarly to how Celeste killed Hifumi once he killed Taka, Tamba was hoping Okazaki would die next and thus get rid of the only person who knew of her involvement?

Tamba is very sus to me.

6) Yanagi

Yanagi has been giving me weird vibes the whole investigation. From him sleeping through not just the whole night and morning, but also the body discovery alert that rang throughout the whole school. That is very strange behaviour for Yanagi.

He could have been exhausted from spending the whole night setting up the traps in the art supply room and woodshop, and potentially dismembering Kazutoshi's body when he stumbled into one such trap.

And since he'd been sleeping shirtless in a school that was -15 degrees below freezing, that could be because of two reasons. One, that he got blood splattered on them and had to dispose of them (potentially in the incinerator close by). Second, because he knew that as soon as a murder had been committed, the temperature in the school would rise, allowing him a more comfortable sleep.

Similar to how Sasaki took advantage of the no-sleeping motive being lifted in the first chapter as soon as she killed Isono.

Yanagi is definitely suspicious for those reasons, and even Mai is picking up on them. But time will tell.

And finally...

6) Ojima

This is my most out there and unprecedented suspect, but here's here for a few reasons. I hate to imagine Ojima doing something so cruel to Kamimura and Tsuno, but the idea has been clinging to my brain since Friday and I need to get it out 😭

Firstly, Ojima was up VERY early in the morning. Early enough to walk in on Hiroaki about to end his own life with the pills he had in his room. Ojima being up so early could just have been him wanting to start the day early, but how easily can we trust that idea?

The school was well below freezing by this point, morale was at an all-time low, and he'd just had a big blowout with Hiroaki. Him being up and chipper doesn't seem very realistic, especially for Ojima's characterization so far.

I personally think that Ojima got up very early in order to set up the trap in the art supply room. My evidence for Ojima being aware of the trap in the art supply room is because during breakfast, when Hiroaki mentions he's gonna spend the day drawing, Ojima IMMEDIATELY responds with "In the art room?"

Ojima definitely didn't want Hiroaki in there. Either because he would come across the trap set in the supply room, or worse, fall victim to it.

Which, unfortunately, did happen for Kamimura. I really don't think Ojima was out to get Kamimura. He was out to get Okazaki.

Ojima was one of the very few people who knew of the abuse Wada was facing at the hands of Okazaki. And since both of them had experienced abuse in the past, maybe that brought a flood of repressed memories to the surface for Ojima. Enraged and wanting to get vengeance for the both of them, Ojima set up the stakes in the art supply room in hopes of killing Okazaki.

But obviously he failed. So instead, he dismantled the trap and set it up again in the woodshop, hoping to get them this time.

And instead, he got Tsuno.

Another thing that stuck out to me as odd this investigation was that Ojima never disassociated ONCE. Now I'm not saying this is indicative of guilt or that he can control when he falls into lapses of out-of-touchedness. But I am saying that in the previous two investigations and even throughout the normal days, Ojima has been "out of it" at least a couple times.

Hell, for Chiba's investigation he was gone for almost it's entirety. But for this investigation, Ojima was VERY present, leading a distraught Ken around, telling him that he can express his negative emotions as soon as the trial is over.

This all sounds well and good, but to me it's very out of character for Ojima. I might be totally wrong but it's still something I thought of.

This was a very long post to write!! But I'm glad I did, just so I can look back on it on Friday and see how right or wrong I was 😭😭

Summary:  A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my    rewatch of season 3 of Once Upon a Time.  There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season.  Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an emphasis on Captain Swan’s epic love story.

She’d had the dream again just before her alarm went off.  The details were fuzzy and indistinct and she could never quite remember what happened when she woke, but it always ended the same way.  She and Henry were in her car.  She looked in the rear view mirror, and she saw this group of people standing there.  One of the women had her hands raised, and there was green and purple smoke enveloping all of them. She didn’t know why, but Emma always felt an intense sadness at this point in the dream.

And then it was all gone–the people, the smoke, the sadness.  It was just her and her kid cruising down the road on a bright sunny day.

There was probably some deep underlying meaning in it all–or so she’d think if she went in for all that dream interpretation crap.

Anyway, she had the dream pretty frequently, probably about once a month, although for a few weeks there at the beginning of the year she’d had it nearly every other night.

Emma shook her head slightly and went back to her task at hand, stirring the eggs, flipping the pancakes, thinking about her day ahead.  It was Saturday so she and the kid were having their normal weekend big breakfast.  After that, she needed to get to work.  She was so close to catching her latest skip.  If she was lucky, she’d nab him tonight and still have time to make it to her date with Walsh.

She couldn’t help but feel like there was something missing when it came to her relationship with Walsh.  Oh she loved him and all, but he was just…comfortable.  Somehow she felt like there should be more in a relationship, more passion, more desire, just…more, but hey. Walsh was a good guy; he got along great with her kid, and they just kind of meshed.

Better a kind of boring relationship than an exciting one where the guy left you holding the bag for his crime and you ended up going to prison for it.

She had just handed the cinnamon to Henry and sat down to dig into her breakfast when the knocking started–and her heart started pounding in time with the knocking.  Sometimes in life there were moments where you get a sixth sense, where you just know something momentous is going to happen.

Brushing aside her fancy, Emma went to the door and opened it to see him.  She didn’t know who this strange man dressed like a pirate was, but she knew him.  It made no sense, but she was pretty sure he was one of the people in the dream she was always having.

He was spouting nonsense about her family needing her and how he knew she didn’t remember but he could make her.

And then he swooped in and kissed her, and God help her, for a split second her knees almost gave out at the rightness of it, the relief, the feelings, the joy.

But then reality set back in, and she did what she should have done the moment he took a step toward her–she kneed him in the family jewels and slammed the door in his face.

Her brow furrowed as she licked her lips, still tasting of him, and the unsettling feelings continued. 

“Who was that?” Henry asked, going back to his pancakes.

It was enough to snap her out of it once and for all.

“No idea,” she said, ambling back toward the table. “Someone must have left the door open downstairs.  Come on; let’s eat.”

Notes:–How could I not write my drabble on this scene?  I am fairly certain I literally screamed when I watched this episode live and saw who it was on the other side of the door.  This was the moment I was 100% certain that Captain Swan was endgame and it was glorious.  Given that this was the mid-season finale, I considered this scene my very first Christmas present of the year.

when you were doing the buddie timeline did you find a more precise date for when chris left?

not really, just a general time frame because the timeline in s7 is typical 911 and is very contradictory at times lmao

i have it down as likely june 2024. i’ve written the info i used to come to this time below if you’re interested!

before i write this out, i’ve said it before with my timelines but take all of my workings with a pinch of salt because i have to make assumptions here and there and i also think way too deeply about the smaller things/little side comments when in reality 911 gave up a longggg time ago with trying to make the timeline add up lmao

so, firstly i thought it was likely summer because helena and ramon take christopher to texas and i’d like to imagine the writers wouldn’t really want to do that at a time when he still had a few weeks/months of school left. and buck also implies that it’s summer by saying “cause, i mean, there’s summer, and then there’s texas, right?” and in my head that translates to christopher is spending the summer in texas. and i think if he was still in school, eddie would’ve probably tried to use that as an argument for him to stay too?? and i’m not american so i tried to find when american schools usually end for the year and they said late may/early june but idk how accurate that is

but then eddie threw a spanner into EVERYTHING by saying in 7x09 that shannon died “almost 5 years ago”, but she died on May 6th (canonically confirmed by her grave, and her death also lines up with s2’s timeline - because believe it or not the timeline actually used to make sense lol). so that would imply that the entirety of s7 was set in march/april which i just don’t think is reasonable and here’s why:

1. 7x01-7x03 are all set in march 2024. so for this example i’ll choose march 1st to give them as much leeway as possible.

2. 7x04 is set about two weeks after 7x03 (buck mentions twice that eddie has known tommy for 2 weeks). so that brings us to march 15th.

3. 7x05 is the buck and tommy date, which we know is on a saturday. now, march 15th was a friday, so the saturday is the day after, which i don’t think is feasible tbh because tommy would’ve just said ‘tomorrow’, so i assumed that 7x04 was actually probably set after march 15th, and i skipped ahead to saturday march 23rd for 7x05. that’s also more reasonable imo because the likelihood of 7x01-7x03 happening on march 1st is low so this feels like it makes more sense to me.

side note: buck and tommy celebrate their six month anniversary in 8x06 which is set in November 2024 (because 8x05 was the halloween ep). and 6 months before that would be may 2024. but they also might not be classing their first date as their anniversary date but i kinda felt like that was implied because they went to the same restaurant but idk. anyway, that would imply that 7x05 was set in may, but we’ll stick with march 23rd for the example rn.

4. then 7x06 is madney’s wedding, and it is implied that it’s fairly soon after 7x05 because buck invites tommy when he’s apologising for how the first date went, so it’s presented as a kind of ‘redo’?? so i went with a week minimum, which would be march 30th.

5. in 7x07, chimney is out of hospital and we were told in 7x06 that he would likely be in the hospital for 3 weeks. so 3 weeks after 7x06 is april 20th.

side note: at this point, the kids are still in school so we’re definitely not further than june.

6. in 7x09, eddie said he met kim “a couple weeks ago”. eddie met kim in 7x07 (which is minimum april 20th) so two weeks after that is may 4th. this is also the episode that bobby quits.

so the earliest we could be is may 4th at 7x09. and 7x10 directly carries on from 7x09, with the end scene of 7x10 being set a few weeks later when bobby is out of the hospital and tries to come back to work but can’t because he quit 2 weeks before.

realistically i think there’s more time between eps, because this example works on many assumptions such as the cruise ship disaster happening on march 1st and chimney going to work the day after he gets out of hospital etc. so i added at least a few more weeks to that and kind of placed it at june/july 2024. and that lines up more with how the episodes aired too because 7x10 aired on may 30th 2024, so i’m more likely to believe it was set around that time too.

and just for fun, here’s an additional thing that proves how messy the timeline can be:

in 7x09, tommy tells gerard that he transferred out of the 118 5 years ago. in the SAME EPISODE, bobby says buck joined the 118 seven years ago. now.. if both are true, buck and tommy would’ve worked together for two years????

(btw the tommy one is a lie because we literally saw buck join the 118 in september 2017 after tommy left lmao, so tommy left 7 years ago and buck joined 7 years ago)

WOFTFI 2023 Review (+ Arc Thoughts Ish)

as a small intro, ive been getting into smg4. A guilty pleasure almost, but uhhh the smg4 merch looks banger af so uhhhh uhhh (also mr puzzles this was his fault too)

watching the puzzlevision arc is great and im doing it in the order prescribed by the smg4 wiki bc fans know best.

anyways im finished the movie and i want to review this thing because i have Thoughts (spoilers under the cut since idk if anyone in this fandom cares [i dont interact with it at all atm] but i do):

I LOVED IT HAHAHA!!!!

I dont really know much about SMG4’s other arcs and previous versions of this movie (i watched like maybe 3 r64 episodes before this, feel free to flame me for it) but this movie was damn good.

though i havent watched the livestream in which apparently all the decisions were made, i find it so interesting that the fans got to choose how the movie went! I love this idea of experimenting with audience feedback and it’s genuinely made for a fun movie!

Like the few smg4 movies, ive watched prior (western spaghetti and its gotta be perfect), the style of animation is good! Ive read thru yt comments that say this is a step up from what it used to be before and such and im inclined to believe it!

Meme stuff aside, THE RAP SONG WAS SUCH A CERTIFIED BANGER AND WE GOT MEGGY SINGING (Elsie Lovelock, great actor btw) JDKSJEKEN AND MARIO GOT A SINGING VOICE THIS SHIT WAS A GENUINE BANGERRRRR I LOVED ITTTT

The battles were fun and action packed and the whole “spy rizz” meter was a great aspect! If i were a fan back then and i voted, it wouldve been so fun to see whether i chose right or wrong! Great fun!

i like the relationship development of smg3 and 4. Genuinely i love their dynamic a lot and seeing the development even if its just screentime is like enrichment to me (i ship them too now. Getting gay married would solve their problems /silly /hj)

i like how in the end smg3 DOES care for smg4 and crew and moved in closer to them (one criticism: i may be stupid but it took me wayyyy longer than needed to realize smg3 wasnt actively living in the showgrounds before this ? He appeared so often its like he lived there but he lived in that weird ahh starbucks still? Crazy.)

the notebook had a doodle of smg4 and 3 sharing coffee 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

i also like the mr puzzles foreshadowing here (call it foreshadowing when his face gets revealed for real in this movie). Generally, what ive noticed is that every time mr puzzles related shit happens, its got that stupid music attached to it. A motif. (I cant get that shit out of my head) and how the puzzlevision logo appears too. In this movie it made a glitched appearance and the theme is once again burned into my brain.

Knowing exactly what mr puzzles sounds like, the voice distortion on his voice was cool as fuck. So was that wall break. Crazy shit.

Overall 10/10, will continue watching this arc and eventually ill go backwards in continuity and watch the other arcs (feel free to roast me for this decision but mr puzzles brainrot and i was unable to not think about the puzzle vision parts I DID watch.)

This one kinda started it all. Their rivalry was funny and I kinda felt bad for Cindy because she is genuinely smart but what is it if your opponent is a genius  Also hey, blonde and bitchy, my type :) Won't say a lot about this one tho because with all my love for them - there's nothing much I can tell you if you watched the show

Manny and Zoe (El tigre: the adventures of Manny Rivera)

Ok, this one is weird because as a kid I just loved Zoe so much (Her Black Cuervo design, like c'mON LOOK SHES PURPLE) but also liked Manny and Frida together Idk, fandom skewed me later to Manny and Frida but hey, hero-boy/villain-girl dynamic is fun too and I still remember fondly how Manny was immediately smitten by her in "Enter the Cuervo" (Apparently Zoe would end up with Django and honestly? That pair is pure aesthetic, good for them good for them) (Also I'm so mad that I watched this show dubbed because I didn't know english at the time like THEY TOOK ALL CHARM. NO ACCENT, NO SPANISH WORDS IN CHARACTERS SPEECH AND SOME NAMES WERE TRANSLATED IN THE LAMEST WAY POSSIBLE)

Helga and Arnold (Hey Arnold) (can you tell I am a nickelodeon kid yet?)

Ok, this one is more of the one sided love/hate on Helga's side but if you watched the show then you know that she went all in with both love and hate.  Seriously, Helga is such an interesting character. She is amazing and I love her (another bitchy blonde to love yay) Can't say much from Arnold's side. He was oblivious to her crush for the most of the show. He is a kind and understanding boy so jgkkdjgkh I just really wanted Helga to be happy 🥺

Anya and Damian (Spy x Family)

New one and also kinda one sided on Damian's side  Listen These two?

Just plain funny

Anya punching him in the face and Damian falling for her for that? Hilarious Anya being oblivious to his crush despite being an esper because Damian is in denial? Amazing. Good stuff.  They are just so cute and funny, look at them!!!

Catra and Adora (She-ra and the princesses of power)

Ok, I wouldn't consider myself a catradora shipper anymore but God, their dynamic in the first seasons is everything. Like darn, they had drama. Actual enemies to lovers and THE TENSION

Aaaaand season 5 destroyed it all. (Spoilers for she ra ahead)

Some people dropped the ship after season 4 finale because Catra would rather destroy the world than let Adora win, but for me it was THE THING I LOVED LIKE YES, MORE DRAMA, MORE CONFLICT, NOW CATRA MUST TRY REAL HARD TO GET ON ADORAS GOOD SIDE AND THAT MEANS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, I WONDER HOW IT WILL GO and they just??? Kinda forgive her??? I'm sorry, yes, Catra purring on Adora's lap? Sweet. The kiss was also dramatic. But it all felt so undeserved I guess it's because of the limited time the writers had. But damn, introducing a bigger threat in Hordak Prime and kinda handwaving her crimes isn't a redemption for Catra.  But again. First seasons? Good ass dynamic. 10/10

Knuckles and Rouge (Sonic the hedgehog franchise)

THIS ONE IS  AH NICE If you followed my kbsd art then you probably know that I also love Sonic (lil guy doing cool stuff - my weakness) Wouldn't call knuxouge love/hate ship at this point that much tho. They started as this but now they are more of a flirts-a-lot/flusters-a-lot type of pair. Also, we don't talk about "dumb" arc SEGA was putting Knux in 2010's Anyway funni echidna and funni bat my beloveds

Ok, so the series is about violence, fighting, and bloodshed, right? And then I saw these two in 0.5 episodes and my brain went "OK, but what if they kiss?" And I spend 2021 rotating these two in my head. Violently. (The way Deimos doesn't attack Sanford in "dedmos adventure" still makes me sad from time to time)

Dr. Fox and Hawkodile (Unikitty!)

I was in a weird place of mind when I was obsessed with this show. Looking back at it - its really silly.  I'm gonna be honest, the biggest reason I loved this ship is because it's a big warrior type of guy having a huge crush on a nerd girl and being really silly about it. After a few episodes with this topic I got kinda tired of it tho. 

Still, they are cute.

I might be forgetting some but honestly, if I was to list every ship I enjoy - we'll be here forever This also kinda made me realize that I haven't seen any proper love\hate pairs in recent media. Might be just me tho.

This post contains spoilers for ep 6 of daryl dixon

so finally watched ep 6 (the last one of the series) and let me tell you: it's bad. AdNag was wonderful, his hair were perfect, his face so kissable. 100% the highlight of the episode.

Anyway quinn dies (we knew it. let's not pretend we didn't) he get bitten by a zombie during the arena fight and in his last conversation as human he asks daryl to tell isabel he helped them an all. jesus christ, you're dying can you be less of a simp?

so let's talk about this episode for a minute. first half is them escaping the zombies in the arena (which daryl dixon has barely any difficulty in doing. he even lift one with a pole. really.) then the militia guys (was enough to fire one shot at random and they run away) and then our heroes were back on the road just to have the most nonsensical 5 minutes in the history of plots: does anyone remember the militia guy that wanted to avenge his brother so bad that in looking for dixon he got at least 40 people killed? the same guy that was cheering for a zombie to eat off dixon's face 3 minutes ago? that guy that was shown as the right hand of the boss? well after 5 episodes of murder after finally having dixon at the end of his gun he decided he wasn't going to kill him. bc he didn't want to kill laurent apparently, but the 20+ dead nuns is fine? the other innocents from the club? the paris commune? they can die. it's fine if he doesn't want to kill the kid but daryl dixon was right there, why not kill him?

second half of the episode they reach the nest and it's maybe the nicest sequence in the show so far. not enough that i can forgive everyone being dressed like background characters from a 40's movie or a group of french people picking the token american aboard student as their leader or everyone still speaking english for daryl or these people needing daryl to teach them how to use a rifle. but okay at least the sequence was nice. i don't believe that nuns taught laurent about aristotele but okay. i still have some suspension of disbelief left. at this point the people from the nest found daryl a lift home (kinda) and there's a ship waiting for him on the coast of Normandy. You know what we just found out? that dd's granpa died on the coast of normandy during ww2 and daryl sniffs on his grave even tho he never met the man and had a bad relationship with his dad. it feels like the american writers of this show had a list of things americans and french had in common and ww2 was the only thing left. anyway laurent then shows up from a dune and waves at daryl and idk it's implied daryl will take him to america? this kid only has bad ideas.

at the end of this season i can say this was the first draft for the show. not one single character has an arc. characters were underdeveloped, they had no solid background for their personalities. bad guys were bad until the plot needed them not to be. and those who were bad were bad just because. Genet she was a night guard at the museum and now she's leading a militia, i'm not saying it's impossible, i'm saying that without seeing even a glimpse of her character evolution she feels hollow. the guy wanting to avenge his brother does a 180 in a minute, killing 4 of his men. what is the journey there? he could've been a great character development, if he got developed in any way. Quinn, went form british living abroad (job still unknown) to nightclub owner that simped for Isabelle for 12 years but never ever in all this time looked for her once. and now that he died nobody cared, they made the big reveal that he was laurent's father and he was the ONLY person laurent showed no sympathy to?? Isabelle, laurent and the other nun, they saw everyone they lived with die and were okay, no faltering in faith, no grief. no lets go on with the plot. the other nun cared so little that she left them when they needed help the most and joined back when the risk was over. like?? girl what? I want to talk about laurent, he never questions he's god on earth, everyone told him he's special and in all his journey he never doubted for a second that he wasn't even if so far more people died than how many he helped. he saw murder, violence, hunger, pain, living dead and he didn't care at all. and now daryl dixon, i started the series knowing nothing about him and now the only thing i know is that he's the typical grunts not speak no friends type. zero connection with his character. he went throughout another tuesday of killing zombie and people and what bothered him the most was that everyone was speaking french.

this series gets a 4/10

it's kind of unclear whether all borgs are just like this now or whether there is still a sexy collective of cube-shaped inevitability out there somewhere. at the end of the episode i still didn't know. it was great to see hugh again though

i think before riker and worf stormed the castle riker should have given him a little kissy. for luck.

OBVIOUSLY i am distressed at poor data getting brainwashed and HURTING HIS BESTIE!!! but i think they did it backwards. i think they should have had him torture picard and then be unable to shoot geordi. or actually no fuck picard anyway both things should have been geordi. but the final moment should have belonged to geordi because that's data's closest connection.

anyway, lore putting on the visor was EVIL. i was gasping and covering my mouth the entire time. it was definitely distressing, but even though we were lucky to get the little fallout we did, it still didn't feel like enough. data faced absolutely no consequences for his actions and we didn't even get into whether or not they WERE his actions

i'm glad geordi stopped him from destroying the chip though. it is horrifying to me that data has now been traumatized by the very idea of having emotions. dream ruined...

the homecoming (ds9):

so they labeled this episode "the homecoming (1)" and the episode after it "the circle (2)" which mean it's a two-parter episode but not one that's immediately apparent...so i sort of felt a little cheated when it ended "early." i think if you're gonna have a two-parter they should have the same name and be labeled with part i and part ii. just a thought. i know enterprise does this too and now i understand what those numbers mean!! baffling...

anyway, i fucking loved it. like, i could go on and on. just watch me.

i of course have to talk about kira in this episode. she is always so determined to do right by her people which of course is awesome i love watching her go but more importantly she was SOOOO HOT. MA'AM. MA'AM

the outfit. the new hairdo where they slick it down at the sides to make you think she took a little off there. her and o'brien laughing at that cardassian together 😳 their action hero moment..........

i love also that all of that was perfectly platonic. she was like do i look sexy enough to pull this off and he responded in the affirmative and it never felt like he was running around on his wife. picard, take notes

actually, this episode sort of makes me remember why o'brien is such a natural choice for ds9...in addition to probably being the one who was in the transporter room when picard was beamed back after his capture and torture by the cardassians (he is always very quick to point out to sisko that he's LITERALLY SEEN how they treat their prisoners when we need a reminder of the stakes, so it obviously made a strong impression on him), we have that one episode of tng i always forget about because it's all the way back in season fucking 4 where o'brien is like, it's not you i hate cardassian, i hate what i became because of you. he's seen the cardassians at war and he's been personally affected by it, and you get the feeling that he's also well aware that his experiences, while bad, are just the tip of the iceberg of awful.

and like, it adds so much depth to sending HIM into enemy territory with kira. she warned him they might not come back, and he has a wife and child at home, and he STILL WENT. it was an extremely brave thing to do, and remembering his history in this context leads me to interpret this as something he felt he HAD to do, morally

actually, to veer off a second...i really always love how sisko tries his best to throw his weight behind kira, to protect her and support her. like, him giving that low whistle and going "man i wish you hadn't told me what you wanted that shuttle for" but then going to like dax for example and trying to spitball an idea to make it work. he threads the needle of what's morally correct with what's legally permissible as far as his job goes really well, it never feels like he just pulls the correct solution out of his ass, he always struggles with it

but the thing is HE WENT TO DAX. and dax ALREADY KNEW. he then, to back to o'brien, went to o'brien to work out a plan and o'brien had ALREADY COME UP WITH ONE. there is something so incredibly cathartic about seeing all the starfleet guys in particular triangulating around kira and backing her up for no other reason than they care about her and it's the right thing to do.

anyway, i havent even TOUCHED on the rest of the episode yet. i really could go on and on about kira.

okay, other things! whatever quark is doing was really funny. i wish he had actually given his brother a fair share of the profits, but i guess the new leaf he's turning over doesn't extend that far. his whole sections with odo and kira were hilarious though - the whole episode was actually pretty charming when it wasn't being serious.

i kind of had that guy down as either not really being who they thought he was or not being as brave and cool as they thought he was and i was right. i DO think he should be allowed to retire even if bajor does need him...ten years in a labor camp and straight back to work but now it's political? not my ass. i'd never lift a finger again unless i had to.

jake got sooo tall. wah. he's growing like a weed. i really loved the bit where sisko comes in from a long day, yawning, and then he's got to comfort his son about being dumped for being human because of political extremists. and he doesn't slack off on the dad job anymore than he does on the starfleet job. it was such a chuckle earlier in the episode when sisko was panicking because they were too young to do anything but talk in public places only, and now it's like. sad.

Eh. Not so much these days, but I don't want to dismiss the existence of ghosts entirely. I do have this one memory as a kid that still haunts (ha-ha!) me to this day. I forget what age I was exactly when this happened, but it was definitely before I was 10

I remember waking up early on day that I didn't have school don't know if it was Summer or just the weekend, but I believe I was the only one up at the time. Anyway, I went downstairs to the kitchen and went over to the fridge. I don't think I ended up grabbing anything, I as just looking

Once I was done looking, I closed the fridge door and when I turned around I saw this girl standing a couple feet away from. She was pale and had long messy black hair, she was also wearing a pajama gown

She didn't say anything at all, she just looked at me and opened her mouth as a raspy moan came out. I screamed and ran back up to my bedroom and just stayed there until I heard a few other family members wake up

I’m kinda the same way about reading sometimes. When I’m close to reading a story my mind reads faster at a rate where I’m not retaining the information I should be while reading. I hate it. I gotta remind myself to slow down at time

26. How do you get into your character's head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?

I like to rewatch clips/episodes that focus on said character or features them heavily. Besides that I will look at other roles the actor has been in as well as think about other characters that remind me of that character and look at how those characters are similar and different

And besides other fictional characters, I like to think about how I personally relate to the character. Thinking about how I feel in that situation and what my reaction would be vs. a character’s. One thing I’m always trying not to do is turn someone’s blorbo into me, because they came to see their blorbo, not me. So I love thinking about differences and stuff that I like that I think the character wouldn’t like

I admit I sometimes think about my writing too much, but eh I’m easily distracted. I just listen to music or play video game or just move on with my day

HOLY SHIT!

Ok. Well this episode was something else. Absolutely brilliant.

I have to say that, so far, I´m realy loving season 2.  

First two episodes of first season were my favourite, but first two episodes of this season are amazing as well and have even more of that beautiful chemistry between Loki and Mobius. But on top of that there is just much more softness and care in their bickering.

After that I was scared of episode three, expecting something similar to Lamentis. And yeah. It´s kind of similar in the sense we are most of the time out of TVA. But instead of being on exploding moon with Loki and Sylvie we are on a cute time travel  adventure in a past and maybe it´s just me, but it had that Doctor Who vibe, cozy atmosfere and lot of Lokius content so hell yeah, I say! I´ll take it over Lamentis every fucking time.

And today? I was (once again) afraid we get something similar to episode 4 of s1. I was NOT expecting to be sitting in a chair and forgetting to breathe of uneasiness what will happen next.

And that creepy moment where Dox and all those other people died and Brad having PTSD from that exact form of tortue not being able to even MOVE, Miss Minutes smirk… that scene had me completly stunned.

And then pure terror in B-15 face? Seriously I was not expecting to be THAT invested in this plot line. I was terrified, I felt bad for them all.

Actually I was scared for ALL the characters (except Ravonna and Miss Minutes) the whole fucking time to the point I forget to drink my morning coffee! xD

The horror vibe, and all that fucking suspense?!!

The philosophical conflict beetween Loki and Sylvie and whole moral dilema?!!

The music?!

The funny and cute moments that were effortlessly woven in ?

And like a cherry on top: the relationship drama of it all?!!

Holly shit, what and epic journey! It went by so fast!

With such a great start I am litteraly PRAYING right now for last two episodes to keep this level of awesome. There was evidently lot of work and love poured into it. (more then anything Marvel gave us in a long time) and I don´t want this season to end up being bad.  I hope writers know what they are doing.

Anyway, no idea how I´ll survive whole week till ep 5.

Two hours latter and I still haven't recovered.

My new favourite Loki episode.

(I´m sorry for messy text and bad english, but I really needed to talk about it.)

One of the first times it really hit home to me how Dean can't win with Sam ever is during Faith.

I feel like because of the big deal made at the end of season 2 folks think Dean is the first one to ignore instinct and what he knew to be right just to save a family member but no, it was Sam.

And in that episode Dean is accepting he's going to die. That hey, he saved some kids, but something went wrong, he doesn't have much longer, and it is what it is. It sucks, but it is what it is. Sam was the one who couldn't stand that and decided to ignore his own instincts, and Dean's protests, and dragged him to Roy and pressured him in front of everyone to go up on that stage.

And then once they learned the cost of what Roy was doing, Dean had that weight on his shoulders that some poor bastard died just to save him, when he didn't even want to be saved in any capacity.

I think that was also the first time I had really understood and processed just how reckless Sam could be. You'd think he was the more understanding one but I think that's just that young 20's something, college boy earnestness but in reality, there's a reason why Sam and John are often grouped together instead of Dean and John. Especially when you think about how John sacrificed himself and burdened Dean with the guilt of having to take out his own brother if push came to shove.

And the fact that Sam continued to try to push Dean after John's death to talk about it, despite clearly seeing the signals that he doesn't want to or isn't ready at that point, is sad.

And THEN you pile all that on top of the guilt Dean already felt by pulling Sam from school and basically back into a life he had 'successfully' left [i say successfully because we learned later on that Lucifer and his cronies were essentially tracking his every move anyway] and because Dean had pulled Sam away from Jessica just for a few days, she died in that time.

Now, at the time, they didn't know it was part of a wider plan, but that doesn't matter. Feeling guilt is feeling guilt.

That was even brought up in 7.04, Defending your Life where Osiris calls Sam to the stand to try and get him to admit that Dean essentially ruined what would have been a promising future as a lawyer. By now we know that wouldn't have happened regardless because of the apocalypse stuff but that doesn't change Dean's guilt whatsoever.

And he really has no one to talk to about this. It's why in 4.16, On the Head of a Pin, that conversation Dean has with Cas after he's all beat up and stuff and talking about being disappointments to their fathers and the like, I really liked that heart to heart because he can't really talk to anyone else who is essentially on the same level as him: Guilt over ruined plans, shame, seen as nothing more than a tool, expectations they put on themselves through pressures of their family, so on and so forth.

There were two heart-to-hearts in season 4 that stood out to me, particularly because they were so early on in their time together: 4.07 and 4.16. Both times, they're on an equal plane while talking. Cas isn't standing in 4.07 but sitting next to Dean on an adjacent bench. And Cas in 4.16 is sitting next to Dean, who is in a hospital bed rather than standing by the door or something. And the conversation in 4.07 was one that he'd have to really trust Dean on because he was admitting he has feelings of doubt. He's barely known this man.

And I believe this guilt that Dean carries over a myriad of things obviously carries all the way to Season 15 where it's also manifested into existential dread.

It always frustrated me that for a good portion of time, Sam just never stopped to thnk about what Dean was constantly going through. There were some moments and some moments he acknowledged that Dean raised him and stuff but I don't think he ever fully understood and a lot of the times they talked about stuff, it came from a Sam-centric place and the outcome wasn't always favorable. Like OP says, Dean couldn't really win. Even sometimes with Bobby he'd lose and Bobby is their father figure.

It's why I loved the addition of Cas into the mix and was happy he stayed around because Dean needed someone on his level metaphorically and "role" wise.

It's why he was so angry at the end of season 14 and part of season 15 at Cas. At first it's like 'Oh he's mad because Cas omitted the truth about Jack and that caused Mary to die' but I think once Dean understood that Chuck had been pulling strings, that Mary was likely going to die anyway.

If you rewatch those episodes, especially beginning of season 15, Dean isn't mad at Jack. He's mad at Cas, and that's because that trust between them was broken. That trust that had been there since they met in season 4, that understanding they both had.

Obviously there had been trust issues in earlier seasons from time to time but that didn't change the fact that they were equal and by season 14/15 they should have trusted each other more.

Dean constantly had his trust broken, and whenever he would let one or two walls down [Cassie, Sam, Bobby, so on and so forth] he'd get hurt.

He's never had anyone in his corner.

You really just can't unsee it once you see it though, can you?

Sam starts blaming Dean for what he's going to do (work with Ruby) way back in 3.09 because Dean isn't going to be around to be Sam's mommy, which is going to force Sam's hand.

After Dean comes back, Sam actually blames Dean for him working with Ruby by saying Dean wasn't there to protect him (4.04).

Dean repeatedly begs Sam not to work with Ruby and is ignored repeatedly (3.03, 3.04, 3.09, 3.16, 4.01-4.04, 4.12-4.22).

After telling Dean to open up to him and trust him (4.08), Sam calls Dean weak and pathetic for being traumatized by hell and says Dean is holding him back and therefore deserves to be lied to because he can't be of use (4.14) Sam says it's not what he really thinks when they both know it is (and Sam repeats it to other characters in 4.16, and 4.18) and then he admits it's the truth again to Dean's face in 4.21.

Sam accuses Dean of not trusting him enough (4.21).

Bobby blows up at Dean for not supporting Sam enough and calls him a pansy after Sam strangled Dean near unconscious, and tells him family is supposed to make you miserable (4.22).

Dean tries to reach out to Sam and Zachariah and Cas actively prevent him from doing so (Cas only at first) (4.22)

Zachariah (5.01) and Cas (5.02) both tell Dean the apocalypse is his fault because Dean didn't reach Sam in time to stop him from killing Lilith.

Dean says Sam hurt him, Sam is the one Dean depended on the most and Sam hurt him in ways he can't even voice (5.01). Sam apologizes, but then in the very next episode, shoves Dean into a wall for not trusting him like Dean is crazy and irrational when Sam doesn't even trust himself (5.02).

Sam says he thinks they should go their separate ways and is shocked when Dean agrees easily. Dean says that he spends more time worrying about Sam than he does doing the job right and time apart would be good. Sam reiterates that he's sorry and Dean gently says he knows Sam is (5.02).

Cas asks Dean if he's okay even without his brother, and Dean says "Especially without my brother. I mean, I spent so much time worrying about the son of a bitch. I mean, I’ve had more fun with you in the past twenty-four hours than I’ve had with Sam in years, and you’re not that much fun. It’s funny, you know, I’ve been so chained to my family, but now that I’m alone, hell, I’m happy." (5.03)

Sam says he wants back in. Dean objects, on the basis that he thinks they're stronger apart. Dean says they're each other's weaknesses and it's being used against them (5.04, but the weakness line is repeated from 3.03 and 3.16).

Zachariah pushes Dean into a future 2014 where Dean never met up with Sam again, and as a result, Sam said "Yes" to Lucifer, and billions of people died. All because Dean didn't want to be around Sam after being hurt and never reconnected with him (5.04).

Dean reconnects with Sam (5.04) even though he clearly doesn't want to, because the first case we see them on again, Dean struggles to trust Sam and leaves to go drink alone because he doesn't want to be around Sam (5.05).

Sam says part of the reason he went off with Ruby was to get away from Dean, because Dean is smothering. Dean is the problem in the relationship, because Sam feels inferior compared to him. Dean apologizes for being too smothering (5.05).

What does all of this tell you? Dean can't win. Dean will always be the bad guy in the family. He loves too much, or he isn't loving enough. Sam needs him and Dean wasn't there for him and so Sam went down the wrong path, but also Dean is smothering and Dean being smothering is the reason Sam went down the wrong path. Sam is not a trustworthy person, but Dean doesn't trust him enough. Sam not being trustworthy is Dean's fault. Dean doesn't deserve trust, but Sam deserves Dean's trust no matter what and not giving Sam his trust is the worst possible thing in the entire world and also again makes him smothering. The apocalypse is Dean's fault. Every single thing Sam does every single mistake he might ever make in his life is always at least partly Dean's fault and Dean's responsibility.
