so, after watching episodes one and two, it's coming off as they know what scenes are important, but they don't know why. the changes made to the story are therefore pretty flat. if you're a casual enjoyer and haven't read the books in a while and are just here to have fun, you'll probably like it. if you're like me and enjoy media analysis and have a strong grasp on the themes, messages, and subtleties of the book series, you probably won't.

reading more on the leaks for ep. 9 and 10 it is obvious aegon is not a morally grey character. he’s not even a character from what i see so far. he was a character as a teen now he’s just.... an evil dude running from any and all responsability always, always crying always whining never doing one thing right. like i don’t think they gave him one redeeming quality. 

and i know that the parenting and viserys and stuff but it feels very extra to deprive aegon, the guy who’s supposed to be rhaenyra’s rival for the thone, who’s supposed to be grey, of any and all redeeming qualities.

i think people think aegon not wanting the throne and to be king is a redeeming quality but it actually isn’t because he isn’t rejecting the throne out of honor or respect for rhaenyra or something, he just doesn’t want to deal with work and responsability. if rhaenyra died by something random suddenly, he still wouldn’t want it 

anyway i’m kinda mad because i wanted a more complex story about politics and power struggles and stuff and it’s just “woman misinterprets dying man’s wish and forces evil man to be king against his older sister who was named heir by previous king and who’s crime is passing her bastard sons as true heirs”

again. daemon doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things simply because he’s not running for the throne. is rhaenyra keeping him around fucked up? yeah. is he not the vile uncle who killed his wife to be with his groomed niece? also yes. so basically rhaenyra is partly a victim in this relationship, even if she’s older now. so daemon’s deeds are not her deeds, her crimes, her flaws.
