I just bought a bunch of books and already had a bunch of books I either bought or was gifted relatively recently and haven’t read yet, but I can’t decide what to read next so I’m leaving up to you guys (and also if you have any other recs let me know!) 🖤

Thoughts about whatever I’m reading will probably show up on here at some point because I had fun sharing my thoughts on The Familiar on here :)

What book are you currently reading? How are you liking it? What book are you going to read next?

I’m currently reading ten (10!!!) books at once! Most recently picked up is The Third Daughter by Adrienne Tooley. I’m about a quarter of the way through, and it’s pretty good - I’d give it a solid 7/10. I like the worldbuilding and the plot so far. Started reading it based off a three-word review I saw an internet stranger give it - ‘magical furious lesbians’ and it really lives up to it ❤️

The other nine books I’m reading are:

Crimson Rivers by bizarrestars (a Hunger Games Jegulus AU fic but it’s so long I’m counting it as a book)

The Magician’s Nephew by C. S. Lewis (not really liking it tbh, the writing style just isn't engaging)

Herland by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (I’m only at the start but I have to say, an all-female utopia is a pretty good story as far as I’m concerned)

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman (not as good as people build it up to be but still pretty decent)

The Paris Bookseller by Kerri Maher (Parisian lesbians with bookshops and a lot of wine? Yes please)

The Witches of Vardø by Anya Bergman (it seems good? I'm only at the start, but I'm loving the worldbuilding)

The Clockill and the Thief by Gareth Ward (a YA novel I picked up a few years ago and loved. It's the second book in a steampunk duology set in Victorian England (AU) and I'm rereading it to heal my inner child)

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (needs no introduction - swoon)

each matchup has been decided at random (some of them have put my beloved bob blorbos in dire situations but. we move) by a random name generator - I haven't selected the match-ups myself

I found a couple of new favorites, re-read some books that were due for reread a really long time, discovered new authors I love and just had a good time. I started this year with a mix of genres, but the farther I go, the more I feel attracted to historical fiction/sff or mythology. Quick little update:

So I’ve spent the past few days setting up Windows on my Mac via Bootcamp and then moving my sims and all my CC over. My CC folder is a gigantic mess, however, so I’ve been trying to narrow down what I move over. Unfortunately along the way I seem to have lost some CC that I was using in my story, which means I’ve had to makeover a few characters and builds. I was considering redoing all of my previous story posts w/ everyone’s new looks, but I’ve decided it’s not worth the time and the hit to my sanity. Anyways, this is just to say I’ll be moving forward w/ my story but characters might look a little bit different so please just pretend they’ve always looked like that :-)

Watched the Anastasia musical (I've never seen the film, though I think I may have seen parts of the Ingrid Bergman film once). I was waaaay more into Vlad/Lily in the five minutes we got of their romance, than I ever was into Anya/Dmitry. I figured, hey, I can't be the only one? But then I checked AO3, and it appears I am. :(

It does seem like the musical may just barely qualify for Yuletide, though, so maybe I could wish for it there.

What’s the actual plot of ur Andrew Garfield movie?? I am v confused

a LOT happens but tl;dr: andrew garfield goes through a gay divorce and sinks into depression, and his only friends are his therapist allison janney, coworkers octavia spencer and nicholas braun (as bark), and his dog ingrid bergman. he strikes up an unlikely friendship with high schooler anya taylor joy who is reeling from the death of her mother, and starts to develop feelings for her father, sculptor keanu reeves. i don’t wanna give the rest away because i think everyone should watch it but that’s the gist.
