If the book is “gReEn PrOpAGanda”, then the show is black propaganda.
I love how HOTD’s logic is just anything in the book bad about team green is 100% true, even the claims that were only mentioned by people who were verifiably not there. They are all true. In fact, not only are the worst things true but also the most sympathetic parts of them? False. Lies. Slanderous propaganda.
And anything bad about team black are lies and propaganda. And the things that aren’t lies are totally acceptable and justifiable! It’s like dealing with a narcissist telling you “I didn’t do that and if I did it’s not my fault”.
Oh well. I’m going down with the ship lol

Aegon and Sunfyre canonically having the strongest dragonrider bond
Aegon and Sunfyre being so connected we get the quote “who can truly know the heart of a dragon?”
Sunfyre being the most beautiful dragon in the known world
Aegon choosing his sigil to honor SUNFYRE
I’m so sorry they did this to you my babies y’all deserved so much better.

Is this a fucking joke?!
ALICENT has never sacrificed anything?!
Alicent has sacrificed EVERYTHING
She sacrificed her choices and happiness for Otto by marrying the King. She sacrificed her friendship with Rhaenyra. She sacrificed her bodily autonomy to give the king a male heir. She sacrificed her own safety for the safety of her children. She was prepared to die by dragonfire for Aegon, sacrificing her own life for his
But no. She has never sacrificed anything. Everything has been handed to her on a silver platter according to these writers
Meanwhile wtf has Rhaenyra sacrificed? A random knight so she could marry Daemon? A ton of innocent people for more dragons? Those aren’t personal sacrifices the way Alicent’s are. She’s sacrificing other people for herself
Not the same at all
And everything she has, she has been handed on a silver platter. Daddy named her heir, despite her treason in passing off bastards as heirs to Driftmark. She fucked off to Dragonstone and still was heir. She got the Riverlands because of Daemon, not anything she did. She got the dragons through evil means. Alicent offers her everything she wants
It it’s Alicent who has never sacrificed anything?
And now she’s being forced by the writers to sacrifice her son; the person she did all this to protect. Now she’s choosing Rhaenyra because this is redemption to the writers instead of the character assassination that it is
At least Olivia tries to save what she can by making Alicent have a panic attack

To everyone saying ‘oh George should of solved this behind closed doors’ or ‘oh he should shut up and write winds’
I need you to listen closely. This is obviously his last resort. HBO and Condal have stopped listening to him. This is how he’s keeping influence over HIS work. This is HIS story. He is more than justified to be mad they’re changing it. This is his last attempt to get influence back over his work. He’s showing HBO he won’t be quiet anymore. They can’t walk over him like they did with GOT.
He’s also allowed to work on two things at once.

Today was actually amazing for me because of this. He ate and no one will ever convince me he’s in the wrong (cause how y’all ruin two adaptions of his work back to back💀)

I don’t think either of these dumb coonts have read the books or watched GOT.
"The co-author of House of the Dragon has read the books in a distant past and relies on the knowledge of co-showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal – who is a huge fan of George R.R. Martin."
sara hess saying she read grrm work "in the distant past" is wild to me. the hubris to think you can adapt his work without even bothering to reread the books or watch the show (because she never watched it) is honestly disrespectful to the author and the audience.
it's like writing an academic paper, you want to be original and say something new in your research, but you can't do that without reading & studying existing articles about the topic. it's the same thing.

i bring a “house of the dragon is a poorly written fanfic cash grab that glorifies house targaryen and completely misses the message of fire and blood. all the characters deserve better” vibe people aren’t particularly fond of i fear

I feel like it shouldn't need to be said, but a relatively faithful adaptation of the source material is actually a very normal and reasonable thing for both an author and that author's fanbase to want. People can sneer about book purists all they want but it's the rare adaptation that surpasses the original, and HotD does not even come close.

Ryan Condal telling GRRM that they couldn't include Maelor because he didn't want another toddler on set is pretty ridiculous to me when you think about how they aged down all of the children and made them all toddlers. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera weren't toddlers in the book. Aegon and Viserys weren't toddlers in the book. He included 4 toddlers into the show for no reason and then he excluded the only character who was actually a toddler. Like what was the point of all that Ryan??

They fucking 180’d her character in eps 8 and 9 (“you’ll make a fine queen” she says in front of the maimed son that the woman she was praising wanted tortured 🥴), but she would never have sold out her children.

Ryan Condal choosing the necessary plotlines that HOTD must include:
Nettles ✗
Maelor ✗
The Greens loving one another ✗
Rhaenyra being cruel ✗
A whole bunch of other important shit ✗
Tyland Lannister being a sperm donor for a polygamous woman and her concubines (which slay, but priorities?) ✓

Everything is reduced to misunderstandings, mistakes and accidents. No one is plotting to take/steal the power like it was supposed to.
Characters are completely changed or are the opposite of what they are in the book. The is no gray, only black and white, only good people or bad ones.
Different team stans are at each other’s throats.
Daemon and Aemond are plotting against the people they are most loyal to and they want to become kings by themselves.
Daeron is lost somewhere and it’s rumored to be a bastard.
Maelor and Nettles don’t exist.Their storylines were so important for characters like Daeron,Helaena,Daemon and Rhaenyra.
Apparently having dragon blood/being valyrian has no use to ride a dragon.
Other dragons,like Dreamfyre,are long forgotten.
There was no interaction,no relationship, not even a conversation between Viserys children.
Laenor simply running away, living his best life in Essos meanwhile his family started a civil war.Same as Daeron, who is trapped in Oldtwon while his siblings are destroying each other.Perfect sense.
Rumors about Alys engaging a relationship with Daemon instead that with Aemond.
Aegon and Criston Cole being the most hated in the fandom when in the book they were completely different,so much wasted potential.
Rhaenyra being paint as saint/mary sue, instead that the political idiot she actually is and the bad person she is(and that’s why i loved her in the book).
Alicent being a scheming little bitch,a Margaery 1.0,not a little scared girl that did what she did because of a misunderstanding. She wanted to usurp the throne, she wanted the power and she didn’t stopped in front of anything.
Rhaenicent scene in the Temple was a comic relief, because otherwise it make no sense if you think about how the characters were supposed to be.Just another proof of how “good” and “misunderstood” they are, acting like it’s the world that goes against them and that is not them that are keep doing a bullshit after another.
Helaena having no reaction after Blood and Cheese, but saying that things like this happen in the world. When in reality this is the event that will forever change her life, she will stop sleeping, bathing and eating. She won’t even look at her other children without feeling guilty for what happened. She literally goes insane with grief.
Rhaena bonding with the dragon that Nettles was supposed to have and that’s mean that we won’t probably see her real dragon:the pink baby Morning, that represents the hope for the dragons because in the dance they all died.
Ryan Condal if you plan to make a show about the Conquest,i beg you to not do it.I don’t want to see Visenya and Rhaenys being rivals and fight over Aegon, because i know this is what will happen!

Initially, I didn’t mind her casting but she is bending Rhaenyra into being her. She’s not playing Rhaenyra. She’s playing a medieval version of herself. It’s stupid and unprofessional. When did we reach a point where actors/actresses can only portray themselves instead of characters?
I would fire Emma D’Arcy at this point.
It’s not like continuing with a different actress will make the shit show any better or worse, but at least it would show some consideration to the fans (who have suffered enough). Then again, they should not have let an actress call the shots in the first place.
And any other actress would be an improvement, preferably one who does not induce her own sexual preferences into the character she plays. A professional actress, who understands that it is her job to portray a character completely different from who she actually is.
That whole “hate the character, respect the actor” thing cannot be applied anymore, since the actor is single-handedly destroying my favorite character, so her own political agenda can be displayed on screen. Respect needs to be earned.
‘#anti emma d’arcy’ is officially a thing.
