Seeing a ghost for the first time would be a terrifying experience for most, but the one that hovered in front of Ansalong was so polite that all thoughts of fight or flight were pushed out of the maid's mind. The only thing she could think to do was to return the courtesy.

"Oh, um, I'm alright. I think. That would sort of depend on whether you're really here or just a figment of my imagination. Let's go with mostly right."

She longed to reach out and touch the woman, have flesh meet flesh and confirm that the spectre was not a result of exhaustion, but Ansalong had already tested that theory when she'd walked through the other.

"I mean, it's not every day that you come face to face with a... ghost, spirit, spectre? What term would you prefer?"

Perhaps it didn't matter whether the blue woman was real, she was interesting, something to breakup the repetition of Ansalong's job.

"Wait, I've heard of you, you're the infamous corpse bride! I'm very chuffed to meet a living legend. Or... not living. Sorry, poor choice of words."

The Van Dort house had been quiet lately, but it wasn't an unpleasant sort of quiet. That was why a certain guardian angel or unseen houseguest of theirs (whatever you chose to call her) chose to keep a cordial distance. Though Emily's soul was free now, it could grow lonely for the two she considered her dearest friends. Though she was lonely, she never wanted to be intrusive.

And so she lingered from time to time, hovering above the young couple like the blue butterflies that would appear in their garden or at their window, until she felt the time was right to show herself. She'd been so occupied with everything she wanted to tell Victor and Victoria she'd hardly expected the first person to catch glimpse of her ghostly blue figure to be their housemaid.

Emily, still so flighty at times, had forgotten they'd even had a housemaid and silently admonished herself for that as she ran (or rather, glided) into the other.

"Oh, I am so sorry! I hope I didn't frighten you too badly!"
