Bring this back with receipt this time.
In Remake there's total of 3 times this scene is mentioned, 4 times in Rebirth, so there are in total 7 times Tifa and Brian scene has been brought up so far.
First one is in the reactor bombing mission. Cloud suddenly has a headache and has a flashback unprompted.
The second time is when Heidegger reveals Shinra plan to use Avalanche against themselves, Tifa kicks the hologram machine and says she's sick of this, which triggers Cloud.
The third time is when the gang discover Genova in Shinra HQ, Cloud has an headache and sees Sephiroth talking to Jenova, following is Tifa scene.
The fourth tine is at the beginning of Rebirth with Nibelheim flashback in Kalm, when the "real" memory is shown.
The fifth time is when the gang visit Nibelheim, Tifa tells Cloud how her father must've felt during the accident. Well, this one is technically a reference but it has the line "I'm sick of this" so I count it anyway.
Sixth time is in the same chapter, later when Cloud, Tifa and Yuffie go to the reactor to find Murasaki and discover his corpse in the same spot as Brian's, which triggers Tifa's PTSD.
The final time is in Tifa trial, after following lil Cloud's guide, Tifa discovers a door that leads straight to the reactor room where Brian died. But unlike in Nibelheim when the mere sight of a corpse similar to Brian is enough to make Tifa tremble in fear, this time Tifa is filled with rage. Perhaps she's aware that an outside force is playing with her pain.
With Northern Crater and Lifestream ahead, no doubt we'll see this scene at least 2 more times. Which will make this the most mentioned scene in the trilogy.
Funny thing I notice:
In Remake it's Cloud who remembers the scene all the time.
In Rebirth it's Tifa who tells what happened, thinks of it, reacts to it, experiences it again.
I really like this scene cos it demonstrates Tifa's rage the best. Tifa is always full off love and care, even for the enemy in the worst moments. So this might be the most violent she's ever been in her life, the only time she truly wants to kill a person. All the wrong things in FF7 world culminate in Nibelheim, in Tifa's words, repeat to us over and over again:
"Sephiroth...SOLDIERs...Mako...Shinra...I'm sick of all of this!"
I swear out of all the scenes in Retrilogy, Tifa's flashback in Nibelheim has to be the scene being brought up the most often, at least 4-5 times already. It better be a grant set up for some mind-blowing twist in the future. (And no, I'm not talking about Cloud)
#tifa lockhart#cloud strife#sephiroth#ff7#ff7r#ff7 rebirth#ff7 remake#Observation#Nibelheim#brian lockhart#Another scene gets mentioned a lot is Aerith prays with falling white material#it's often remembered by Cloud too#So we have Cloud's memory and Cloud's future vision. Past mistake and potential “redemption”. The fixed past and unknown future#Pretty cool details
