Look maybe it is just the hat but my ideal fanon version of game Knuckles would be him being a (reverse) Indiana Jones-type character.

Swashbuckling adventurer who's kinda dense common-sense wise but smart spatially and with a scholarly streak that feels like it comes out of left field compared to his usual behavior. Guy who's kind of a jerk in that he doesn't have the highest cognitive empathy when it comes to stuff that might hurt other people's feelings, but he is genuinely well-intentioned and incredibly heroic in a way that he isn't hiding either.

Protecting the Master Emerald would obviously still be his main duty, but what he actually does all day? Archaeology on Angel island! Finding "treasure", artifacts that he chronicles and studies to learn more about the culture he came from. Have him give lectures about his discoveries. Big jock guy, except he's the world's leading expert in Echidnean ruins. Do you understand my vision?

This also goes metatextually also. Indiana Jones is a character that screws up, gets hit, fails, shows pain, and is sometimes the butt of the joke. Yet he's not portrayed as the mindless or simple comic relief for it! He's still framed as a serious and persistent badass. I want Knuckles to be portrayed in the same way. He might make mistakes due to his own miscalculations, but have him still be well-rounded in personality and considered an unstoppable force of nature anyway rather than just making him the "dumb strong guy".

Marvelous Another Treasure Island is on NSO. Aonuma's 1996 directorial debut that proved he was zelda material. I thought it was full of surprises and heartfelt characters, some sad, funny, creepy moments. Summer Camp, Goonies-esque adventure/point-and-click.

Do you think there’s w reason shanks doesn’t want to met luffy or does he actually believe in that stupid promise from years ago 😭 And why is he always so melancholic

the thing about shanks is that he prioritizes other peoples’ desires over his own. to an unhealthy extent. like, to the extent that he may have sacrificed his own dreams in order to fulfill a final request from his captain.

so, if luffy says the next time he sees shanks, he’s going to be the captain of his own crew, and a crew much better than shanks’ at that? shanks will do whatever he can to make that happen, even if all he can do is delay their next meeting.

if oden says he doesn’t want shanks involved in saving wano, shanks will stay uninvolved. once wano’s been saved, though, he’s free to interfere—if just to keep the navy from interfering.

if buggy leaves, saying they’ll be enemies the next time they see each other… well, probably best not to see each other, then, if shanks doesn’t want to treat buggy as an enemy.

i think it’s pretty clear shanks doesn’t want to do any of this. he wants to see luffy, he wants to see buggy, he wants to help wano and see momo and hiyori… but what he wants doesn’t matter to him.

Knuckles as Pinion is just proving to be the best choice ever considering his interactions with Lukkage. Pretty sure they're lowkey crushing on each other at this point. Or at least Pinion is. Also I knew from the start that Rouge as Lukkage was perfect but like. Knuxouge.
