Melodifestivalen. Tredje deltävlingen. 15.02.2025.
Hello everyone, finally i found a time to write a review of a third semifinal of “Melodifestivalen-2025”. This time, the third final was in Vasterås. And i can tell it was the most interesting semifinal, which i watched. Well, let s begin.
The third semifinal was opened by swedish icon of revue, singer, actress Eva Rydberg. She competeted in “Melodifestivalen-2021” together with Eva Roos, but it didn't reach to the final. And now Eva perfomed parody of Loreen with her songs which won in “Eurovision Song Contest”. It's of course “Tattoo” and Euphoria”. I liked the end how Eva sang “Up, up, up, ner, ner, ner”(”down, down, down”). It was really amazing. And she danced so fucking beautiful at her age of 82. God bless her!
The opening of third semifinal of "Melodifestivalen-2025".
youtube
And the second opening was perfomance by swedish singer “Pandora a.k.a Anneli Magnusson, her song “Trust me” was very huge hit in 90-s. So let's back to the 90-s and watch her perfomance.
youtube
So, let's watch today's songs' which were at the third semifinal of “Melodifestivalen-2025”.
1)Greczula-Believe Me.
The melody of the song reminds me the melody of the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" by "Queen". As if Freddy Mercury never died. It was long time, when glad-rock perfomed in "Melodifestivalen. But i liked it. I give 7 points from 10.
The video of the perfomance:
youtube
2)Malou Prytz-24K Gold.
Very very poor perfomance. Malou sang very bad, she didn't hit in right tone of song. Sorry Malou, but i give 2 points from 10.(This is my own opinion. I'm sorry if someone not agree with me.)
The video of the perfomance:
youtube
3)Björn Holmgren-Rädda Mig.
Not interesting song, who have no catching tune, boring melody, with depressive lyrics. Sorry, it's not for me. I give 2 points from 10.(My personal opinion, sorry if it hurts someone).
The video of the perfomance:
youtube
4)Dolly Style-YIHAA.
I'm extremely happy that “Dolly Style” backed to the “Melodifestivalen”. And they backed with more amazing, dance song with catching tune like previous songs which were in “Melodifestivalen”. Even cowboy style pleasing the eyes. Very good work, girls. I give 8 points from 10.
The video of the perfomance:
youtube
5)Angelino-Teardrops.
Not bad song, with nice tempo and tune, and Angelino sang not bad. What can i add more? His voice is reminding me the voice of swedish singer Tusse, who perfomed at the “Eurovision-2021”. But not bad, not bad. I give 7 points from 10.
The video of the perfomance:
youtube
7)Annika Wickihalder-Life Again.
Oh my God! This is fucking incredible!!! Annika just killed me with her powerful voice. What an amazing perfomance. She's a killer queen! It's really beautiful! Really love it. I give full 10 points from 10.
The video of the perfomance:
youtube
And that was all the six perfomances from the third semifinal of “Melodifestivalen-2025”.
At the first interval act perfomed the winner of swedish “Hello Mello” Jennifer Aoun with the song “Breaking My Heart”.
The video of the perfomance.
youtube
At the second interval act perfomed Sanna Nielsen, who represented Sweden in “Eurovision Song Contest-2014” and ended at the third place. She sang the medley of her song with which she perfomed at the “Melodifestivalen” in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2011.
The video of the perfomance.

Now, it's time to know who will go to the final. And the first, who passed to the final is… GRECZULA!!!!

The second finalist from the third semifinal is….
ANNIKA WICKIHALDER!!!

Dolly Style went to the semi kvalen final and it means that Malou Prytz, Björn Holmgren and Angelino is out of the “Melodifestivalen”.

Congratulations to Greczula and Annika for the passing to the final.

Yesterday was the fourth semifinal of "Melodifestivalen-2025", when i will have time, i'll write my revue about this. But for now goodbye and thank you for reading.

Låt mig, mer eller mindre godtyckligt, sammanfatta årets finalister i tre ord eller färre (jag låtsas som att 'à la' är ett ord för det borde vara det)
John Lundvik - Voice of the Silent: Saknar the Mamas
Dolly Style - YIHAA: Cowboyhästjejerkvinnor, yihaa
Greczula - Believe Me: Flygande. Piano.
Klara Hammarström - On and On and On: Ångestframkallande scenframträdande
SCARLET - Sweet N' Psycho: Metall à la mello
Erik Segerstedt - Show Me What Love Is: Ingetburgare
Maja Ivarsson - Kamikaze Life: Rock à la Disney
Meira Omar - Hush Hush: Bira bira bira
Måns Zelmerlöw - Revolution: Protestlåt utan meddelande
Saga Ludvigsson - Hate You So Much: Taylor Swift hemma
Annika Wickihalder - Life Again: Vilken. Röst.
KAJ - Bara bada bastu: SAUNA
Jag vill vara lite rolig, men jag vill också vara tydlig med en sak: alla som uppträder ikväll är väldigt bra på det de gör och verkar vara schyssta människor, och de har min respekt!

Late watch of Melodifestivalen final:
Nemo, showing how it's done.
Edvin and Keyyo are looking very sparkly and glam tonight.
John Lundvik, "Voice of the Silent" - He is a very good singer and I'd rather he moved away from the bland, vaguely inspirational songs and try to add a little dash of something else. It doesn't need to be extreme; The Mamas helped add interest before and they were hardly edgy.
Dolly Style, "YIHAA" - Well-performed silliness that doesn't try to be anything other than what it is.
Greczula, "Believe Me" - This song still sounds so Melfest-y to my ears while still sounding different than the particular types of pop that have been predominant lately on this show.
Uh oh the hands are going for Edvin.
Klara Hammarstrom, "On and On and On" - Of the songs in the final, this will probably be the one I listen to the most. It's a little bit anxious so it feels like it would be good for exercise or work.
I heard a sneaky bit of Chess in that dramatic little fake movie; hope to see it on stage in the next year.
SCARLET, "Sweet N' Psycho" - I really enjoy the sound of the song, but is lacking in drama.
Erik Segerstedt, "Show Me What Love Is" - So much confetti, it's like a mid-show winner's moment.
Maja Ivarsson, "Kamikaze Life" - All the states of America, yeah! (North Dakota! Idaho! Delaware! So punk!) This brings me more joy than it should.
Meira Omar, "Hush Hush" - This staging gets decent mileage out of the use of a pretty simple platform and carefully-chosen camera angles.
Måns Zelmerlöw, "Revolution" - Looks like he survived the confetti. I am trying to imagine this song in the vein of Ruslana's "Dance WIth The Wolves" but it just isn't quite working for me.
Saga Ludvigsson, "Hate You So Much" - It was nice to get a bit of human storytelling in the staging and choreography, which is not strongly present in most of the other performances.
Annika Wickihalder, "Life Again" - The way her backing dancers rise out of the mist is oddly creepy. I appreciate the way she seems to throw herself so fully into her performance.
KAJ, "Bara bada bastu" - SAUNA.
Petra Mede comes with a gay entourage, naturally.
Have to admit I am a little surprised that the juries liked Dolly Style so much.
I was already spoiled for the results so missed out on the surprise, but happy that Sweden is diverging from its usual path. All in all it was a pretty good final.

My Melodifestivalen 2024 final top 12, much love from Finland ✌🏻
12. Jay Smith — Back to My Roots (it’s not… bad, country music just isn’t my taste and i was kind of shocked it made it to the final at all. here’s what my sibling said after this song qualified: ”what? why? even gunilla was better than this country song!”
11. Lisa Ajax — Awful Liar (her voice is good. i don’t really have anything to say about this one, that’s how boring i think it is.)
10. Cazzi Opeia — Give My Heart a Break (i don’t know what it is about this one that straight up annoys me lol is it the song? the singer? the outfits and the colours? her mouth?? everything??? the chorus does get stuck in your head easily)
9. Annika Wickihalder — Light (i like her voice and i quite like the song too, but i don't think it's winner material. but! i do enjoy it)
8. Jacqline — Effortless (jacqline is what sells this song and performance, she does make it look effortless. there’s nothing wrong with the song per se, but if jacqline wasn't the one singing it, i don't think it would deserve to be in the final.)
7. Dotter — It’s Not Easy to Write a Love Song (i really enjoy her voice and she’s gorgeous. the melody isn't super memorable and i don’t think the performance and the staging help. she keeps spinning bare foot on the piano and it looks kinda awkward. but all in all it’s really good. if sweden were to send this one i think they’d do well!)
6. Danny Saucedo — Happy That You Found Me (i actually first thought that this was quite forgettable but i take that back now. this is the type of music sweden does well and it shows, this would be a great winner! he’s got a great voice and the melody is very pleasant. the staging could be improved, though, and the outfit is quite ugly lol)
5. Marcus & Martinus — Unforgettable (i’m 90% sure the twins are going to win this year and they honestly wouldn’t be a bad choice even though there are acts that i prefer more. it’s clear that the boys are professionals. the song is somewhere between good and ok for me. i am in the minority here but i actually do not like the staging, it’s messy, there’s too much going on, too many lights and the dancers make the stage look crowded in a bad way. their outfits look a bit cheep too. otherwise, they did a great job. it’s clear the budjet is big)
4. Maria Sur — When I’m Gone (i didn’t care for her song at all last year, not to mention her vocals were totally off, so i was really pleasantly surprised when i heard her new song! it got stuck in my head instantly and the staging looks impressive. wow!)
3. Smash Into Pieces — Heroes are Calling (it’s too bad they competed with six feet under last year because it would most likely be my winner this year. anyway, this one is very similar to six feet under, just not as good or catchy. that being said, it’s still really good and i would love for sweden to send this one!!)
2. Liamoo — Dragon (i love it when there’s a lot of fire. i think this is the whole package, the song is memorable and the staging is great. i know he won’t win or anything but personally i love it! it's been on repeat.)
1. Medina — Que Sera (this song makes me sooo happy when i listen to it!! really hypes the crowd up like yes, i am here for a good time! anyway, sweden would never actually send anything like this which is a shame, but i really hope they place in the top 3, good luck medina!)
oh and one last thing: Fröken Snusk (and Gunilla) should have qualified
#gunilla for jokes and laughs and good time. fröken snusk for the same reasons except that i actually do love her song it is so much fun and#makes me happy#melodifestivalen#mello#melfest#but yeah overall sweden always delivers quality acts#everyone in my top 7 deserves to go to eurovision#buuuut ... it should be medina#if any of my top 3 win i’ll be super happy#not gonna happen but a girl can dream#esc24#melodifestivalen 24

Guys, gals, and nb pals, behold with great astonishment, as I hereby present:
My Mello Grand Final Top 12 🎈💃🎉
12. Awful Liar - Lisa Ajax Unfortunately this is a song I've heard a thousand times before, and I didn't particularly enjoy it then either. Nowhere near Torn from 2019, which I think is by far her best entry. Still love that song.
11. It's Not Easy to Write a Love Song - Dotter Same as with number 12, heard it before and wasn't a fan. Dotter has had very interesting entries in the past, and by contrast this feels like filler.
10. Dragon - LIAMOO Promising start, builds really nicely into the pre-chorus, but when the break hits and it kills the whole vibe. It just feels hollow. This should have been the demo, and then they could have let it stew a little bit until they figured out what they wanted this song to actually be.
9. Happy that you found me - Danny Saucedo There's nothing wrong with this as such, it just lacks a certain oumph. I have nothing against it, but then I don't have anything for it either. It's here, and I'm fine with that. This, along with Lisa, Dotter, and Smash, feel like entries whose main purpose is to include their artists' starpower in the running. Speaking of which...
10. Heroes Are Calling - Smash Into Pieces I like rock, which is why mello rock disappoints me. I listened to some of the band's other music, and both their entries so far have sounded like actual songs of theirs, only that have been very neatly combed and buttoned up. There's no rock-ish tooth to them. I want to hear the wolf, not the Irish wolfhound.
7. Que sera - Medina Now we're getting somewhere. I'm into happy, gut-punchy music at the moment, so in theory this should fit like a glove. I like it, but again: a bit too tame. It is a very competent song and performance, but the ebbs and flow of it are not creative enough to captivate me.
6. Give My Heart A Break - Cazzi Opeia From hereon out I really like every song. This is just a lot of fun. I find the staccato is a little annoying, but otherwise I have nothing against this. 3 minutes of escaping reality for a child's imagination. Count me in!
5. Light - Annika Wickihalder What. A. Voice! And it blends so masterfully with the arrangement of the song too. This is just a little slice of perfection. The only reason it isn't higher is that it is a little too mello-mainstream ala the bottom of this ranking, but this is mello done well enough to warrant a 5th place!
4. When I'm gone - Maria Sur The staccato in this is so much more pleasing to my ears than the one in no. 6. I love the drama, I love the build, and I love how confident Maria is performing it on stage. I wouldn't be disappointed if it won (thought I know it won't).
3. Back To My Roots - Jay Smith I said it last week and I'll say it again: I'm an unashamed Smith & Thell fan, and this is right up my street. This feels, for lack of a better expression, like a Song. I love the way the performance makes it feel like the music is done live as well. There is a complete musicality here that I am completely in love with.
2. Unforgettable - Marcus & Martinus Take the drama of no. 4 and turn it up a little more, and you get this. Masterfully executed song, and very stylish performance. This feels like a complete package that knows how to play to the performers' strengths. The only downside is the abrupt ending that promises yet another lift, but that it never delivers on. (And it will be very funny when two Norwegians win mello in the year that esc is hosted in Malmö.)
1. Effortless - Jacqline The other songs are good, but this is my favourite. Not because I think it's necessarily the best in an "objective" sense, but because it speaks particularly to something that I really like. The strong beat, and the way the sound production dances around her pitch perfect vocal (especially at the start of the chorus) really gets me. The cocky attitude, particularly in the entrance and exit, also help elevate (hehe) this entry to another level. It's effortless! I don't expect it to win, but it has my vote none the less.
#wow this got long#I haven't proofread this so hopefully it makes sense 😅#nuuuuu kör viiiii!!!#schlager nerding#melfest#melodifestivalen

March 9 00:27
Oops… So 2 months flew by just like that. I promised I would write more but I failed again. I just re-read all of my previous posts and realised I didn’t remember all the details which means journaling is very effective. I should continue more.
I just had a little nostalgia session, I listened to songs I loved back in 2021, possibly the happiest year of my life. Right now I’m listening to mirror by Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars, I used to listen to this one when I started high school and a little depressed. I can still relate to this song, although to different parts now. I can not believe how far I’ve come, slower and slower I’m becoming the person I’ve wanted to become: confident, smart, unbothered and unfiltered, well-liked and appreciated, respected. I’ll be forever grateful for this year, I can’t even begin to imagine how awful it will be next year back in my little bubble in that town, filled with people who were always holding me back. I’ll try not to think too much about it though.
Melodifestival was over today, the finnish-swedish humour group Kaj won, I was rooting for them so I’m extra satisfied. I’m glad swedish people finally care about representation and fun, other than winning. Good choice Sweden!
I’ll probably go on an afs trip this weekend too, to Astrid Lindgren’s film village (?). My friends talked about going to the cinema this friday, I hope I don’t have to skip that for the sake of the afs hangout, it’s not worth it for me.
I’ll come back tomorrow and write more about my feelings on my laptop, I can’t text with my fingers. The warm weather and the huge amount of sun is finally putting me in my feels again, I began to feel so many new emotions, at one point today I felt like I was back in 2020 quarantine again.
Two songs:
Mirrors - Like Wayne
Life Again- Annika Wickihalder
,,so why are we talking to each other again?”
