Kindergarten Hero (idea ramble)
After re-watching Kindergarten Cop, I got to thinking that a similar scenario would fit Captain Marvel. Hear me out. As the beloved and iconic hero to Fawcett City, he'd go out volunteering all the time just to help out his city in any way he can. Rescuing cats from trees, helping the elderly cross the street, working in soup kitchens, volunteering at animal shelters, you name it, he's there with a great big smile, happy to help. He doesn't have to stop a big bad villain in order to be a hero, as he tells the public that it's the everyday heroes that inspire him to be kind in return. Heroes like first responders, volunteers, etc. Especially, teachers.
I can see Captain Marvel being a common sight at schools for special events to help pass down wisdom to the kids and to have some fun with the citizens he protects on a daily basis. Reading to the third graders, playing basketball with the 7th graders, helping the 12th graders figure out what paths they want to pursue in life and how to apply to colleges (thanks to the wisdom of Solomon for the last one). He gets told that he's a marvel with the kids, and that he'd be an excellent educator. He laughs it off, claiming he could never be as good as the present teachers, but it does linger in his mind just a little.
One day, while stopping by to say hi to some kids during recess at a random school (the patrol was quiet so he'd figured he could waste time this way), Captain Marvel overheard from one of the teachers in charge outside that it's a shame he can't stay longer. The teacher says that one of their kindergarten teachers is out sick, and with a substitute shortage, it's been a struggle to wrangle up the kids without hassle. They all have their hands tied with their own classes enough as it is. Without thinking about it, Captain Marvel says he's happy to volunteer for the position temporarily while they seek a more permanent solution.
Captain Marvel (Billy) thinks this will be easy! Teaching kindergarteners? Psh! He's been through kindergarten before (as Billy), and he's used to helping kids. Of course, teaching is going to be easy, I mean, how hard could it be?
Within the first ten minutes, Captain Marvel wants to admit defeat.
It is not easy to teach. It takes a strength stronger than Hercules to be able to get a classroom of little gremlins to sit down and do their classwork. The man is 6'5ft and the sight of tiny kids running around him is quite a funny sight to the other teachers, who can be heard laughing at him in their classes. Already there's a kid crying, another with glue on their head, and too many of them are trying to eat things that should not be eaten! He never thought he'd have to tell someone not to eat a Lego, but he supposes more impossible things happen whenever he's doing a magical mission.
He's determined not to quit though. If regular teachers can do this every day, then so can he. With the wisdom of Solomon and the stamina of Atlas at his side, Captain Marvel manages to find a way to speak to the littles, and manage the class into respectful students. He teaches the littles to respect their peers and parents, and passes down the importance of being good to the world around them.
He entertains them with lessons from history, the stories from around the world, and how the past can shape the future even centuries later. He gets to show his passion for geology (canon, actually!) to the littles and the science behind it. He even gets to bring in Tawky Tawny for class one day, where Tawny reads to them and they can pet his soft fur.
At the end of his temporary substitute era, Captain Marvel is glad to have that experience. He's grown closer to his city, and learned that Billy would love going back to school after seeing the Captain doing such a good job through his eyes (not back to Kindergarten, of course, ha!).
Anyway, that's me rambling on about Captain Marvel. I had more thoughts about this, but this post is long enough. Maybe next time!

Snakes. Tim bradford
Summary: Tim Bradford and Reader get a call at a reptile store..
Pairings: Tim Bradford x (fem) reader, (Platonic or Romantic)
Warnings: none
a/n: It's set around, season 6ish. not proof read lmao
“7 Adam 19, we have a report of a disturbance on the corner of La Brea and 12th, possible 211.”
“Copy that dispatch, show us in route.” Tim puts the radio back down. Y/N opens her mouth to say something, but quickly closes it, focusing on driving. She purses her lips, glancing over at Tim. A few moments of awkward silence fill the shop.
“What???”
“Nothing!! Nothing- “
He cuts her off, “You’ve got that look you get when you’re thinking. Spit it out.”
“Isn’t-“ She pauses, turning to look at Tim. “That address is an exotic animal store.”
“So…?” He side eyes Y/N. The car begins to slow as they arrive at the scene.
“A 211 at a store that sells dangerous animals???” Y/N says slowly, looking at Tim as she parks the shop. “I’m just saying, not the place you think would get robbed at 10am on a Tuesday.” She mumbles, shrugging.
They both exit the shop, Tim alerts dispatch that they have arrived on scene.
The store was trashed, you could see that from the outside. The lights were out, and a few windows were smashed. There were a few steps down, if it wasn’t for those, water would probably be flowing down the street.
Tim reaches down for his radio, “Dispatch, this is Sergeant Bradford at the disturbance on LA Brea and 12th, requesting back up,
Y/N leans forward, grabbing Tim’s radio. Without taking it out of his hand, speaking into it. “And animal control.” She looks Tim straight in the eyes. She lets go of his hand, entering the store.
There was an inch of water covering the entire floor. A few dead animals were scattered around, mostly tarantulas whose small containers were knock onto the floor from their shelves, and other insects. Snakes slither across the selves, and frogs happily hop around. Very few animals sit inside their actual enclosures.
A snake slithers across the floor at Tim’s feet. He draws his gun, pointing it at the snake. Y/N spins around, instinctively reaching for her own gun. She frowns at Tim, dropping her arms to her side.
“Put that away.”
“Why would I do that?” He doesn’t look up from the curious snake at his feet, his gun trained on it.” She gives him a warning look.
“What?! That thing could easily kill me. I’m not going to risk my life!!”
His eyes widen as Y/N bends down, picking up the snake. Tim’s eyes widen, he hesitates, but doesn’t follow the snake with the gun. “The hell are you doing?? It could be venomous!”
“It’s a rainbow boa- Boas are nonvenomous dumbass.” Tim frowns, but finally puts his gun away. Y/N safely puts the snake on the counter before walking to the back of the store, looking around with her flash light. After a few seconds she walks back out, radio in hand.
“Dispatch, we’re code 4. Stores empty except for a bunch of snakes and stuff.” She walks over to the racks of cages, looking over all the snakes, just examining the types of snakes and reptiles. “I don’t think they have any venomous snakes out front. They’re all in the back- and not a single smashed cage back there.” Y/N shoots a glare at Tim, feeling his worried gaze shift from her to the backroom door.
“Cmon, let’s just wait outside until animal control shows up. So, you don’t shoot any innocent snakes.
After shift later that evening, Tim went out with Lopez and harper. Something that has become a regular thing for the trio. Just have a beer or two, decompressing after work for a few hours before they get home.
A familiar voice behind Tim speaks “You seriously pulled your gun on a snake??” Tim chokes on his drink, turning to Lucy wide eyed.
“No! Of course not!” The man voice betrays him, as his voice cracks a little. Nyla snickers behind him
“Tim Bradford!” Angela exclaims teasingly. “You’re scared of snakes???” Tim just sighs in annoyance. He’ll never hear the end of this. He glares across the bar. Y/n winks at him, smirking as she takes a sip of her drink. Oh, it’s going to be a long night…
Tim made y/n pay his bar tab, but everyone’s reactions were so worth it.

Tee I can't remember if I've sent this idea before, but with [insert Desmond as an animal au] of your choice (or multiple of them, or all of them)--consider Desmond stuck as an animal and getting used to that being his new life. Until. He meets one of his ancestors he spent time as (havihg sought them out of course. He could never resist). And then, maybe it's by design, or maybe it's some kind of weird crossed wires from the Bleeding Effect, the echo of a flesh and blood body given a reminder in the code of the universe what shape it's supposed to be--
Whatever it is, it turns out that as long as Desmond is in skin-to-skin contact with his ancestor, he reverts to human form.
which is to say: big convoluted excuse for lots of hugs and hand-holding.
It would be funny if Desmond was some kind of big animal so when his ancestor lets go of him, enemies would be surprised by the sudden appearance of such a beast XD
Since you gave me free rein on this, I’m going for 12th century Levant XD
.
.
Malik did not believe he was close minded.
He accepted Altaïr was in love with a mysterious man who can turn into a beast even before Altaïr had admitted it.
Altaïr didn’t try hard to deny it anyway.
Saying “this is necessary” while they were holding hands or Altaïr’s hand was on his neck or they were in each other’s embrace (and many more positions that Malik didn’t have any time to list down at the moment) was such a weak excuse that Malik didn’t really think he should even be using the term excuse in the first place.
When he sent a letter saying he was going on a ‘trip’ with Desmond after they finished the mission in Cyprus, no one in the Brotherhood was surprised.
They immediately looked for Malik to lead them as if Altaïr had planned it.
No.
This felt more like Desmond’s work. That man seemed to believe Malik could handle more things than Malik was comfortable with handling.
Yet, he persevered for no one was willing to take the mantle from him.
After the first year of his tenure as the temporary mentor, Rauf was already suggesting that he, Altaïr and Desmond should just be the mentors together.
The way he said it though made it clear to Malik that Rauf believed Malik was entangled in Altaïr and Desmond’s relationship.
Or was harboring unsaid feelings for either or both of them.
Malik wanted to vomit there and then.
He would rather lose both of his arms than be part of whatever relationship those two had.
They were the cause of Malik’s headache.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
.
Their trip lasted for four long years.
Malik’s list of complaints had turned into a journal and he was planning to read everything out loud.
But his tenure as the long suffering temporary mentor has finally come to an end for those two idiots had returned.
When he reached the courtyard to greet them, Kadar grabbed his arm and stopped him.
“Brother.” Kadar’s eyes were wide and his hands were trembling.
“What is it?” Malik asked, his mind going through the many worrying fates those two idiots could have had while they had been away.
“I’m so sorry, brother.” Kadar looked like a man who had his heart broken.
… on behalf of Malik.
Oh no.
Please.
No.
“Malik!” Desmond shouted and Kadar let go of him, stepping back into the crowd like the coward that he was.
Malik turned to where he heard Desmond’s face and saw Desmond’s grinning face.
With both of his hands holding two different persons.
Altaïr was, of course, one of them.
That was a common sight by now.
The other was a woman though.
“This is Maria Thorpe.” Desmond introduced, “The mother of our first son! He’ll be born three months from now!”
Oh, it was worse.
Many Assassins behind the three currently in front of Malik were looking at him with pitying eyes.
It seemed their imagination had run wild.
And now they had cast Malik into the role of an unfortunate man who just heard the two men (or one of these idiots) he was in love with (He. Was. Not.) had married a woman while he had been waiting for them to return.
Forget reading out loud his complaints.
He was going to beat the both of them with that damn journal.
