I've seen posts going around claiming that petting animals is basically tricking them into thinking they're being groomed, and it's bugging me because, like, there's no trickery afoot. Petting and scritching are grooming activities. They help to dislodge loose fur and foreign objects and more evenly distribute protective oils, among other things. Primates are social groomers, and the human impulse to scritch is the legacy of our primate ancestors. We see an animal we like, even a dangerous one, and the monkey brain says "groom that thing".

Bedlam is having her teeth cleaned and a lump removed this week (totally benign, but it’s under her collar so it rubs and gets irritated), so I told the groomer to take her pretty short, clean face, and “do something fun”. 🤩 I love what he came up with!

Next fun thing, since her incision will be exactly where an E-collar sits, I get to buy her a turtleneck to wear during recovery!

As they’re fighting Lion Dehya walks by and scoops up the Vet and walks away

The Queen of the Pride casually taking what is rightfully hers 😭😭

Everyone is too busy tackling each other and fighting over you to notice Lion! Dehya picking you up by the scruff of your work scrubs, and taking you back to her den where she could share you with Lion! Jean (I like to think they are in the same Pride)

Eventually, someone will notice that you are missing due to your scent no longer being in the area, causing the fight to stop and have the hybrids on high alert. Worried that you may have been kidnapped, all the hybrids run around the sanctuary to try and find you, oblivious to the fact that you were getting shared between the lion hybrids in their den to satisfy their heats 💕

Hazbin cats again folks. We got, Carmilla saving Vaggie from starting a fight with Alastor.

Alastor is sad that his meal got stolen.

Vaggie was put in a "hamper jail", aka. a laundry basket, to reflect on her actions.

Finally, Vaggie wants to go home, but Carmilla, ain't letting her. She ain't finished grooming her.
