I love that it’s Miranda who orchestrates Alfred Hamilton’s death. Partly because there’s something just so devastating to me about how lonely and constrained and helpless so much of her life on Nassau is - and thus something so grimly satisfying about her getting to exercise that kind of violent agency, even in flashbacks and exposition.
And also, because there’s a level on which it’s a little fucked up. Not that she wants that kind of revenge, not even that she gets it - but that she weaponizes Flint’s rage and grief and guilt, Flint himself, to do it. That she knows him and loves him and shares a terrible trauma with him, and that’s precisely what allows her to aim him like a homing missile at her husband’s (for all intents and purposes) murderer and pull the trigger. Fully sympathetic and understandable and I don’t think Flint was complaining one iota, but - still. There’s something magnificently brutal about it and I kind of love that for her.

Penelope is the only character that meets Odysseus' monstrous anger with an equal amount of force and I will never get over that

I just realized something...
Eurylochus is the one who opened the bag of winds.
It was something so obvious because of the Puppeteer song and what happened in the ocean saga, but I'm only now connecting the dots.
and honestly? Thats having nerve.
Eurylochus, who made himself look like someone super upright, THE SECOND IN COMMAND, Eurylochus who COMPLAINED to Odysseus about not doing anything against Scylla (a sea monster that was in its natural habitat, fighting would have been suicide) when NOT HE did anything against her, when he was willing to ABANDONE his men on Circe's island and questions Odysseus's leadership skills using THOSE EXAMPLES (look, Ody didn't always do things right, but there really weren't any big losses until the Ocean Saga and he handle them very well)--
the same Eurylochus that if he had not opened the pocket of winds which Odysseus spent SLEEPLESS NIGHTS watching so that no one opened (and told them verbatim NOT TO OPEN) they would not have retreated when they were about to reach Ithaca, sending the entire fleet to where POSEIDON was, WHERE ALMOST EVERYONE DIED, THEY ESCAPED BY A HAIR-
And yet he has the Audacity to say that "if Odysseus wants all the power he must take all the BLAME"? WHEN WAS IT BECAUSE OF HIS STUPIDITY THAT THEY WERE IN THE UNDERWORLD IN THE FIRST PLACE? THE REASON WHY SO MUCH PEOPLE DIED IN THE FIRST PLACE??
I'm not fine guys.

“I need to tell Pen about you,” Odysseus said, looking at his patron with puppydog eyes. “I know you training me is a bit of a secret, but I couldn’t keep anything from her, please, you won’t be mad, right?”
Athena raised her eyebrows, sighing. “You’ll be absolutely useless in training until I let you, right?”
A wide grin. “My grandfather didn’t name me ‘a pain in the ass’ for nothing!”
Athena sighed again. “Truly blessed with the gift of prophesy, that man. Fine.”
Your honor I love them

I like Epic, but I think the worst thing it brought to the odyssey fandom is that some people now think that Odysseus could have easily refused Circe out of love for his wife, and Circe would accept it and be even impressed by this.

According to the 19th rhapsody/book of Odyssey, Odysseus's grandfather Autolycus named his grandson "Odysseus" because he was angry and the entire world (coming from the verb "οδύσσομαι" which means "be angry at")
As it happens with many Greek myths, the name is a self-fulfilled prophecy since Odysseus attracted plenty of anger in his life from the Trojans whose city practically singlehandedly he sacked, Aias the Telamon (aka Ajax the Great) for he defeated him in a battle taking Achilles's armor as a price till the anger of Polyphemus and Poseidon which pretty much sealed his fate and doomed him to wander about the seas for more than 10 years.
However the name is also extremely symbolic given that Odysseus's anger was the reason he committed hubris and bragged his winning against Polyphemus becoming the literal plot starter of Odyssey.
It also means something else; Odysseus in his anger says "I am Odysseus" to Polyphemus. You may also say that he also indirectly said "I am furious"

A while back I've been made aware by a fellow tumblr user(I'm so sorry I don't remember who) that in Hades II Odysseus has "a weakness for women" and has had many affairs during his journey home AND is divorced with Penelope.
And I just wanted to say... WHAT THE FUCK SUPERGIANT GAMES I was so happy with what you did with the story of Achilles and Patroclus, Orpheus and Eurydice as well. Why did you have to fuck up so bad. And also he's romanceble apparently???
Like what the hell
Odysseus is one of very few greek mythology men who's been loyal to his lover. It would've been so nice if in Hades II it was talked about how Odysseus was very much s/aed and used by those in power. We need more male s/a representation especially when it's women doing the s/aing
I will be playing Hades II anyway for I already own it however I will not be doing ANYTHING romantic with Odysseus if I can help it. I would be very happy if we could get Penelope in Hades II and be able to reunite them as we could with the previously mentioned couples
And I just wanted to say
Supergiant games
Do better
