Baltimore-based artist Angela Deane paints sheet ghosts onto found photos. You might know Deane’s work from the cover of Phoebe Bridgers’s Stranger in the Alps (2017) or perhaps you’ve seen her ghosties elsewhere in the great digital regions beyond. This is part 2! I've taken some inspiration lately from the artist Angela Deane, who takes photographs and paints over the people in them to turn them into ghosts. I love how the quality of the photographs with the covered figures makes something both eerie and nostalgic.

In many of her creations there is a playfulness to be found; one tied to nostalgia, the sweet married to the bittersweet, but also emerging is a strong buoyancy of spirit, a kind of spiritual mapping, both in process and evocation of the completed piece. - Artist Bio

I like the use of a simple sheet ghost to mark the figures, because it erases a person from the image while keeping the space they take up. This suits my concept because rather than being a ghost of a person, it's more about how they "move on" and what kind of gap that leaves behind.
