WIP: Sweet to Dream - A. Larson
Tumblr media
A/N: finished a particularly excruciating chapter of my long fic, so rewarding myself by spending time on our fav shy ravenclaw!!! This one is for the Andrew Larson fan club <3
Summary: You've picked up a part time job at Honeydukes to keep Officer Singer off your back. Luckily, there's plenty of eye candy to keep you occupied - a blond Ravenclaw in particular.
Tumblr media
You should be grateful, you think.  It’s February, and only complete idiots (Sebastian included) have braved the snowstorm to visit Hogsmeade. You’ve probably sold only five galleons worth of candy and even the owner, Mr. Flume, has phoned it in.
You would close up shop early today, if it weren’t for the handsome blond examining the acid pops.
“Do you know who that is?” You ask, leaning over the counter. “They’re kind of cute.”
Sebastian turns to you, a smug smile on his face. “I was wondering when you’d notice.” he snorts, crossing his arms over his chest. “That’s Andrew Larson.”
“Surely that’s not.” you blink rapidly, almost rubbing your eyes to get a clearer look at the tall, broad-shouldered blond. “Sebastian, there’s no way that’s Andrew Larson.”
Sebastian clicks his tongue, shaking his head. “Always underestimating the Ravenclaws.  Now that you’ve pulled your head out of Garreth Weasley’s arse–”
“Shut up, Sebastian.” you snap, jaw hardening at the mention of your ex-boyfriend.
Sebastian grins broadly, turning to lean over the counter. “Alright, alright.  But that is Andrew Larson, and he’s currently unattached.  Ended things with Adelaide last November. Poor thing was distraught over him. Can't blame her, he got particularly fit over the summer from Quidditch camp.”
Sebastian Sallow may be a pain in your ass, but he’s also an excellent wingman and the school’s most knowledgeable tattler.  There’s a ninety nine percent chance that he’s correct with his gossip, and you’re silently thanking your favorite friend for his tenacity in helping you get over Garreth.

Chapter 11 – In the Shadow of Detention
Safely securing the bottle she just filled with Leech Juice, Beatrice glanced along the Lake’s lonely edge, carefully avoiding the littered glass bottles as she studied the new additions that appeared on her Field Guide – there seemed to be another Merlin Trial up ahead on the way back to Hogwarts. It had been easy to miss since she took the Floo Flame back to the castle, but after bidding Grace a quick excuse as to get to where she was now, Beatrice curiously came upon a sealed cave along the Lake’s edge with a rather intricate engraving before its entrance.
Putting two and two together, she’d levitated a nearby stone cube with its matching symbol onto the circular engraving before it took her a second to garner that she then had to cast a spell indicative of the fiery symbol it presented. While using the Fire-making Charm she had in her arsenal was correct, Beatrice was still unsure about entering the now unsealed cavern, fearing it might trap her inside, until she perused how it was suddenly labelled in her Field Guide – a Treasure Vault.
Curiosity got the better of her as she still wound up investigating what lay inside and was rewarded by yet another piece of aged parchment left in a lone chest inside the cavern. She garnered it was enchanted to not crumble in her hands the moment it was unearthed but Beatrice had to wonder what these pieces of paper were for…? Suppose she could ask Professor Weasley about it tomorrow in Transfiguration class, knowing Professor Fig had yet to be back from London.
Quietly mulling over how to inquire about the subject tomorrow whilst not raising the Deputy Headmistress’ suspicions on her ‘extra’ curricular activities, Beatrice was then pulled from her thoughts when the house-elf that led her here with his curiously placed notes suddenly Apparated on top of a wooden barrel she was just about to pass by along the water's edge—
“Thank you for coming all this way.” The one-eared fellow huffed as he hopped off from his elevated stance before looking up towards Beatrice, “The name’s Scrope. Scrope serves the Headmaster. Been in the Black family for years. Apologies for the abundance of notes. Scrope wanted to be sure you weren’t followed.”
“What’s this all about? Your notes mentioned the book I found in the Restricted Section.” Beatrice narrowed her eyes as she warily assessed the house-elf in front of her.
“Scrope can tell you more in exchange for your help. But no one – especially the Headmaster – can know.”
“I’m not so sure about this. I don’t need the Headmaster upset with me.” Nor did Beatrice think it wise for the wizard to know why the new fifth-year was even in the Restricted Section in the first place.
“Oh, the Headmaster won’t be upset. Scrope simply wants to surprise him. Scrope will explain.” The house-elf was quick to assuage her worries before he took a deep breath to talk about his late mistress, “Apollonia Black – may she rest in peace – was a student at Hogwarts over fifty years ago. Before she died, she spoke with passion of pages ripped from a book. Scrope suspects she took them to her private grotto.”
The house-elf nodded his head towards somewhere farther along the coast, now continuing with a solemn look in his eyes, “She was delirious at the end, poor thing. Mistook belladonna for elderberries. Scrope tried to warn her.” His forlorn sigh seemed to signal the end of his explanation but Beatrice still had some questions she needed answers to.
“I’m sorry to hear that. But – how do you benefit if I find the pages?” She was still high-strung from her earlier encounter with Rookwood’s Ashwinders, despite the swim in the Lake’s waters helping ease her nerves a bit, Beatrice was still certain she could not afford to let her guard down – especially outside of Hogwarts’ walls.
“Scrope believes that a treasured Black family ring is also in the grotto. Scrope wishes to give it to the Headmaster.” The house-elf hesitated only for a brief second before confessing, “Apollonia forbade Scrope from entering the grotto long ago. Scrope continues to honour her wishes.”
There was a moment of silence as Beatrice inwardly weighed the situation – this was the only lead she’d gotten about the missing pages after all – yet she felt a sense of unease at being enmeshed in anything that involved the Black family—
“Scrope would not dare ask a student for help. But when Scrope learned you were looking for those pages. Scrope thought you might also find the ring.”
Beatrice breathed out slowly then, before asking the one other question that seemed to be bothering her since receiving the house-elf’s first note, “How did you know that I’d found a book and that it’s missing pages?”
“Scrope and the other house-elves are good at staying out of sight. Scrope hears and sees many things in the castle. Scrope knows how to keep secrets.” That whispered last half may well be meant to assuage Beatrice’s misgivings, yet she was aware how immensely devoted and loyal house-elves can be to their masters.
“Tell me more about this treasured ring.”
Scrope’s fixed somber expression almost seemed to perk up now, “It’s adorned with the Black family crest. The Headmaster would be pleased with Scrope for returning it.”
She still wasn’t sure how much Scrope knew – whether the entrance to the Athenaeum remained to be seen only by Ancient Magic wielders like her – but Beatrice could only breath in now as she came to a decision, “It seems this may help us both. I shall do it.”
“Scrope is relieved. Scrope hoped the young student would be willing to help.” The house-elf now nodded most fervently as he also produced something magically from his hands, “Take this toast to the grotto just down the coast. Place it on the pedestal there.”
This gave Beatrice pause as she was handed the tiny, yet still warm toast in her hand, “Why do I need a toast to get in there?”
“Oh, that was dear Apollonia’s idea. Seems some squids love toast. Scrope is not certain though if this is common knowledge amongst Hogwarts’ students.”
Before Beatrice could process whether the Lake’s Giant Squid was also in charge of guarding a Black family member’s grotto situated by the waters’ coast, the house-elf had already wandered off, “Scrope will wait right here for you. Best of luck finding your pages. And the ring.” He added in emphasis, lest it be forgotten, leaving Beatrice to head to the grotto alone.
She’d already prepared herself for another round of swimming, seeing as Scrope pointed somewhere towards the bottom of the cliffs ahead – but had she not consulted her Field Guide’s Charmed Compass, Beatrice wouldn’t have pinpointed the exact location of the grotto’s entrance.
It was in this instance, while Beatrice lifted the ends of her school robe in one hand and had the Guide open in the other as she followed the golden thread to her destination, that she was caught by surprise as the pages lit aglow before flipping to a newly made journal entry – Wait, why was it showing a Dugbog?
Now ankle deep in the Lake’s waters, Beatrice stopped to assess the page’s entry when she’d felt more than heard the distant rumble of something shifting beneath the water’s surface, the tiny hairs on her nape standing on edge as she took a second to register the movement coming behind what she initially thought was a floating tree branch, before it charged at her –!
She only managed to react fast enough by lurching herself to the nearest rocky embankment, her footing slipping on the slick stones as she landed on her knees, Field Guide digging dully at her side as she rolled on her back, safely securing it before quickly brandishing her wand from her skirt’s pocket, as she leaned back on her elbow. The Dugbog had by now turned around towards her, its mouth now open wide, preparing for its next attack but Beatrice had already read enough from her Guide to know how to counter—
“Levioso!”
Beatrice didn’t have time to observe the amphibian beast levitated on its tongue as she then felt an almost instinctive surge of Magic through her wand arm, making her adjust her stance as she accommodated the large boulder that aggressively made impact on the Dugbog. The slimy, severed tongue that plopped in front of her was enough to make Beatrice gag, but she had to swallow it back as she heard another set of rumbles coming her way again – this time, there were three more emerging from the waters to quite possibly avenge their fallen kin.
Biting back a curse, she winced to stand as the sting of her skinned knee burned against the damp air, blood seeping through the tear in her stocking as she held her wand between her teeth, hurriedly donning the Dragonhide Herbologist Gloves she’d thankfully kept in her skirt pocket, then swiping them across the beast’s slimy tongue, just before digging her hands into each pocket of her enchanted robe. She hoped to Godric Gryffindor that Leander knew what he was talking about earlier in class, before Beatrice pulled out the pair of Chinese Chomping Cabbages and threw them at the charging Dugbogs!
The seemingly sentient plants seemed to target in on their adversaries as the first one was quick to latch onto a Dugbog’s tongue just as it opened its mouth. Beatrice first thought it would get crushed between the beast’s gaping maw but the plant knew when to let go and continue its relentless attacks, much like how even the other Cabbage gnawed on the second Dugbog’s now flailing tongue. That left her with the last one just about to charge at her with brute force.
She already had a bottle of Wiggenweld ready as she dodged the beast with just enough time for her to chug its bitter content, gritting her teeth at the itchy sensation of her skin rapidly healing before she could stand properly, and now focusing on the same Magic she’d cast in Hogsmeade days prior. The tingling sensation through her arms was now turning into a familiar feeling as she fiercely aimed her wand, the vibration racing through her chest as the beast imploded on itself – its tongue the only thing that curiously remained, flopping with a dull ‘smack’ on the rocky embankment.
Only then did Beatrice also notice the leafy remains of her Chinese Chomping Cabbages, both plants now lay unmoving as each successfully had a Dugbog tongue between what remained of their sharp teeth, while the amphibian beasts’ carcasses mostly had their eyes missing as well as a good chunk from their hides. Beatrice now agreed with Leander on how vicious this particular form of vegetation could be – yet it’d be a wiser reason for her to need more in the future.
Breathing deep and not wanting to put good potion ingredients to waste, Beatrice gingerly levitated the slimy Dugbog tongues into one of the glass jars she kept in her enchanted pockets – she’d already thought this would save her a few Galleons than actually just purchasing them, yet Beatrice was still reeling from having to actively fight to obtain these components.
After having cast a quick Reparo on her torn stocking and a cleansing charm to wipe off the slime from her Dragonhide gloves, Beatrice then secured it in her enchanted robe pockets, double checking that no water would break through into its contents before she fully dived back in the lake. Swimming forward with her head above the surface, Beatrice wasn’t quite sure what she’d expect inside the so-called grotto, but she gripped her wand tight in one hand even as she swam – quite prepared for any more threats that may appear.
The welcome touch of the cool waters against her burning skin made her strokes steady as she was greeted by the sight of stalagmites and stalactites that made up the cliff’s interior, her teeth gritted against the bite of cold air as Beatrice slowly trudged to the surface, warily eyeing the lone pedestal in front of a mural of the Giant Squid that occupies the lake. Though the last thing she expected was for it to seemingly come alive the moment she placed the piece of toast onto the pedestal, its depiction of consuming it acting like a key that made the eye of the Giant Squid light up before it crumbled the wall to form a circular entryway.
Running a hand through her wet hair to keep it from sticking to her face, she let the only sound of dripping water from her being echo in the inner chamber of the grotto, the air she breathed damp and coated with mildew as she took in the remaining furniture that made up the dim space. The only light that coalesced the interior came from a still lit lamp on writing desk wherein she spied a worn, dusty journal, the name fancily engraved on its hardbound face not coming as a surprise to Beatrice as to who it once belonged to, though as she skimmed through its weathered pages something caught her eye on one of the last journal entries—
That good for nothing Jackdaw! It wasn’t enough he came back as a headless ghost – he even had the gall to confess about why he sold my ring! Well Richard, not even death can give you the peace of mind to be with that filthy mudblood after I let the Ministry believe she was all to blame: both for the death of a Pure-blood and stealing from the Black family.
Beatrice’s blood ran cold, it wasn’t hard to imagine the Blacks were above accusing a Muggle-born of stealing from them, but to pin an actual murder of a wizard without due evidence? She dreaded the thought of what fate the witch that caught Apollonia’s ire met, all because of a now headless man – Richard Jackdaw… Beatrice’s mind reeled in thought at having to remember if there was one such ghost roaming the halls of Hogwarts, she could only come up with one who was nearly headless…
Eyes sweeping over what remained of the room, Beatrice then did one last cast of Revelio to see if she’d missed any enchantments that she failed to look over, finally spotting a lone, leather chest glowing behind a dressing screen. She tilted her head curiously though at only finding a torn piece of paper inside, presenting a bridge with a lit wand above it that indicated to what looked like floating candles… Another form of a Fire-making Charm perhaps? This was surely a different find from the usual scrolls Beatrice would find in chests, nor did this appear to be connected to the missing pages unless— this was a piece of a map that led to them? She thought it best to hang onto it for now.
Deducing that Apollonia’s grotto had nothing more to offer her, Beatrice swam back to shore where she promptly cast the Hot Air Charm on herself before walking towards where Scrope awaited her return, “Hello Scrope. Thanks to you, I was able to enter Apollonia’s grotto. But I’m sorry to say that I found a half-burnt note from a Richard Jackdaw confessing he sold the Black family ring long ago, the piece of paper crumbled just as I exited…” Beatrice chose to embellish her findings, wanting to hang onto Apollonia’s journal in the meantime to see if she’d come across the identity of the witch who was wrongfully accused of her crimes.
“Sad news indeed. Scrope shall need to think of another way to impress the Headmaster.” The house-elf shook his head woefully, though tutting as he continued, “Hmph. That boy was never good enough for Apollonia.”
“You know of Richard Jackdaw?” Beatrice now asked, intrigued.
“Of course. Scrope knew that boy held a candle for dear Apollonia, but rumour has it another witch snuck him a love potion to steal his attention. But Scrope just thinks that boy is fickle.” The house-elf waved a dismissive hand along his non-existent ear, drawing Beatrice’s own attention to it as the other held out a hand, “Come along now, young student. Scrope will Apparate you back. It was Scrope after all who led you this far away from the castle.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, Scrope, how did you injure your ear?” She’d stalled, mentally preparing herself for the dizzying after-effects that form of travelling would cause.
“The Blacks have a tradition of decapitating their house-elves when their service is no longer required. One day, dear Apollonia was understandably frustrated with Scrope and got a bit too eager with a cleaver. Scrope was able to convince the sweet girl of his value and now views this small injury as a reminder of her good heart.”
Well, that paints a picture, doesn’t it. A cleaver wielding witch, with the other bearing a love potion, both potentially dangerous – though fortunately the first was already deceased – yet all this over a now headless ghost named Richard Jackdaw. If he wasn’t the next lead Beatrice could think of in finding the missing pages, she’d rather not have opened this figurative can of worms to begin with.
Sighing in exasperation, she was just about to reach out for Scrope’s offered hand when a not-so familiar hoot kept getting closer. It wasn’t until an owl had impatiently dropped a note in her outstretched hand did Beatrice have time to read who it was from:
I am holding remedial classes today during Study period. I request you attend so that I may be able to teach you the Disarming Charm next.
– Professor Hecat

Sebastian flipped through the pages of the book he had in hand, finding interest in the topic of spells being modified using a similar source that created it – much like how some antidotes are created from the same base poison. Oddly enough, the subject reminded him of the curious scribbles he first saw in the Undercroft years ago.
Ominis didn’t know what they were but used it as a source of interest on why he chose Ancient Runes as an elective alongside Arithmancy. But for Sebastian however, he was more interested in the theory of Magic in itself – not surprising as his father was the one who used to teach the subject before his untimely demise.
Personally, he always thought it was a shame that the subject was only taught to 1st years before it was well glossed upon until students decided to restudy the elective again on a more in-depth field in 6th year. Maybe he could take up the subject again after he’d decided what N.E.W.T.s he’d take, but he wasn’t quite decided on his career path just yet, not while Anne was—
“I’d appreciate if we get these books sorted out sometime tomorrow. It’ll be the first weekend off from classes where we’re allowed to go to Hogsmeade, after all. Not to mention I’ve already made plans with someone…”
His focus was pulled from his thoughts then, eyebrow twitching as he decidedly snapped the book he was holding shut, thinking to slip it into his robes for future reading but hesitating on sneaking it away without Professor Fig’s permission – he’d have to take note of the title and ask for Beatrice’s help in borrowing it. Evenly stacking it onto the pile of books he’d been organizing, Sebastian then levelled his gaze on the Ravenclaw Prefect that was assigned to watch over his detention.
“Cheers on that then. Didn’t take you for the type to start chasing after skirts on our first week back in Hogwarts but then again… I really shouldn’t conventionalize you by your House alone.”
That said, what Sebastian only really knew about Andrew Larson was that the boy always seemed close to tears during their first couple years in Hogwarts, only hearing from the vine that the blond would cry for his mum or whoever. Not that it was something he would make fun about, Sebastian himself could empathize what it was like to lose not one, but two parents at a young age.
But then 3rd year came around and he’d kept hearing from Anne about a Ravenclaw Keeper during her own Quidditch tryouts, gone was the boy who only kept his head down during their shared classes and in his place stood a taller boy who exuded a quiet confidence. Sebastian remembered how he couldn’t quite sit straight as he watched his twin during her first official Quidditch match against Ravenclaw, she was doing her best beating the Bludgers around and away from her teammates, but his fingers kept drumming against his thigh the whole game every time his House failed to score a Quaffle through the hoops.
Ultimately, despite their Seeker being the one to catch the Golden Snitch during the round, they still failed to garner enough points to win against their competition, which only made for an even more unforgettable day once Imelda had a conniption in their Common Room right after – going on a rant about Ravenclaw’s new “Golden Keeper”. He himself had observed how the other boy played though, finding it uncanny how the blond somehow knew when and where the Quaffle would be heading at, even dodging some ill-meaning Bludgers headed his way as if the Ravenclaw had known about it seconds away.
Despite the hushed whispers of admiration since that day though, Andrew Larson had remained amicable, with Ominis commenting he was one of the more pleasant Ravenclaws to ask for advice when it came to assignments, and even Anne would mellow down when she’d see the other boy nearby, but for Sebastian? There was just something about him that he couldn’t quite put a finger on, it was an uncanny feeling that made Sebastian decide it was best not to cross paths with the Ravenclaw too often. Which was why he turned down Imelda’s every demand for him to fill in for his twin’s sudden absence from the previous term’s last half of the Quidditch season – a 7th year was more than eager enough to take on Slytherin’s vacant Beater position anyway – which made Sebastian all the more relieved that the sport had been cancelled for the most part this term as he didn’t think he’d be able to hold off Imelda’s persistence in getting him to try out for the team.
Hence why he inadvertently chose to take up duelling instead – he didn’t have anything against flying in general, he just preferred to keep his feet firmly on the ground. In a way, it helped hone his concentration – predicting his opponent’s next set of spells based on their body movement – though he may have admittedly been a bit distracted during his first duel with Beatrice…
“It’s nothing like that, I – well, it’s more like a study session and whatnot, nothing more.” Larson replied, letting out an awkward cough into his closed fist as he ducked behind the stack of books he was also helping to arrange, trying to hide his reddening ears yet Sebastian had already noticed it all the same, prompting a smirk to form on his own features as he saw a sense of semblance of the once bashful classmate he knew of before the Ravenclaw had turned into the unflappable Prefect that stood before him.
“Ah of course, nothing like partaking in some tidbit of knowledge instead of just withholding it after all. Though I’d advise keeping your own set of secrets from the fairer folk, best to give them a sense of mystery.” It was meant to sound teasing, but Larson already seemed prepared on a retort of his own.
“I’d say it’s better to keep your personal proclivities to yourself, instead of sneaking other students into otherwise restricted areas.” The resounding thud as the other boy placed a set of books was deafening as his gaze steadily met Sebastian’s, this made him stand up straight from where he was first just casually leaning against the bookcase as he watched the Ravenclaw seemingly assess him.
“And here I thought you of all people would agree that knowledge should be without its limits –”
“But there is wisdom in knowing when to push those limits, Sallow.” The other sighed, an all too familiar sound of exasperation Sebastian was tired of hearing as the Ravenclaw then looked away, rubbing at his forehead wearily, “I know you’re just trying to help Beatrice, but showing her your way of things might only end up getting you both in trouble the next time.”
Sebastian’s teeth audibly clicked together as he snapped his jaw shut, clenching and unclenching his hands at feeling that familiar wave of annoyance at being told what to do – to stop looking for a cure, that there was no other way to help Anne, yet – His spiraling train of thought slowed at the sudden intrusion of an unfamiliar owl, hooting as it entered through an open window they’d left to air the dust out, he watched it circle the room once before it landed near the other boy to deliver a blue envelope. A letter? What were the chances that it was from Beatrice? Sebastian did not have a name for the bitter taste that thought left in his mouth.
“It seems you’re excused from the rest of today’s detention.”
“What?” The question came out harsher than he was intending as Sebastian’s mind was still reeling from his previous thoughts.
“Professor Hecat requires your attendance in a D.A.D.A. remedial class she’s about to have right now. Though I don’t know why since you’re already top of that class…” Sebastian heard the blond mumble the last part, yet this made him perk up at the thought that Beatrice most likely will be there, suddenly feeling lighter as he rushed to put on his school robe and gather his other belongings, not even bothering to exchange pleasantries with the other boy on his way out.

Protego or better yet the act of deflecting Expelliarmus in particular was the main topic in today’s class as Sebastian lazily watched Clopton and Imelda’s demonstration. He tried to maintain his focus on Professor Hecat’s subsequent explanation of better forms to maintain a more durable Shield Charm, especially against a well-aimed Expelliarmus, but his eyes kept wandering towards a certain classmate who seemingly wore one of the older variations of their school’s robes. Granted the circumstances of Beatrice’s arrival made her exempt from the usual dress code with whatever spare uniform the school could provide her with, the otherwise garment they’d once considered to be too “House fanatical” did look quite tasteful on her…
As if feeling eyes on her, Beatrice looked up from whatever it was she was writing to instinctively meet his gaze from across the aisle – she blinked once, as if curious as to why he was attending a remedial class of a subject she was sure he was already good at, before Sebastian afforded her a playful wink, earning a smile from her in return that had his stomach flipping just as Hecat passed by between them during her lecture. Sebastian awkwardly sat a bit sideways on his bench in the guise that he was attentively listening but he only continued to quietly observe Beatrice as her attention now stayed on their mentor, he’d already noticed by then how she rarely took notes in their classes unless otherwise told, her green eyes instead would intently focus on how a certain spell would first be executed, before trying her hand at it next, which really says something on how quickly she picks up on spell-casting—
Tumblr media
“What are the chances of Protego holding up against a dragon’s fiery breath?”
Hearing that simple question muttered close to him just as Hecat said the last of today’s lecture made Sebastian turn to his other side and see Sweeting eagerly jotting away on her notes based on their professor’s academic explanation. While familiar with the Hufflepuff due to some of their shared classes, Sebastian wasn’t quite sure how to gauge her prowess in D.A.D.A. as they’re usually placed in different sections based on their mastery of a particular subject, however that wouldn’t stop him from sharing any input that might prove useful later on—
“Keep your wand firmly in front of your face, just inches enough away so it would be your arm that’s facing the heat, then plant your feet far apart as you brace your knees for the fumes’ impact.”
His answer stopped Sweeting from her writing as she blinked up owlishly at him as if she wasn’t expecting anyone to reply to her self-muttered thoughts, “But there’s also the possibility that a dragon might use their maw instead. Would a simple Protection charm withstand even that?”
Tumblr media
Sebastian shook his head as he proceeded to stand up, “The trick is to never hesitate, one moment of reluctance could prove fatal in any form of defence.” He reiterated, emphasizing with his hands as the Hufflepuff followed him out of their class but not before noticing that her eyes momentarily strayed towards Beatrice who was heading towards the front of the room where Hecat stood waiting – Sebastian barely missing how Oggspire slipped a note into the Ravenclaw’s robe as she passed.
“I hate to see any creature get put down like that, but trolls have no business in Hogsmeade.” Sweeting’s quiet comment had Sebastian raising his brows, but the Hufflepuff had already awkwardly thanked him and was rushing off before he could retort, words caught in his tongue as his brows now furrowed at seeing who came to greet him just outside the classroom’s door.
“And here I thought you had better places to be, Larson.”
“Not until I’ve done my end of this bargain, Sallow. Then we get to decide how we spend our free time afterwards.” His smile was too pleasant in Sebastian’s opinion, catching how the Ravenclaw’s eyes briefly flicked towards the emptying D.A.D.A. classroom, which made him subconsciously step in front the other boy’s line of sight.
“The better you help me in my detention, the soonest we can go our merry ways then.” Sebastian emphasized, crossing his arms in quiet retaliation as to what – or better yet who – the other boy was hoping to meet just before then.
“My thoughts, exactly.” Larson’s smile now almost looked like a grimace as his focus directed towards the Slytherin, shaking his head as he turned around to lead the way. Sebastian relaxed as he also tried to get one last glimpse towards where Beatrice might still be, but the door to their classroom had already closed.

Recounting the day’s events, Beatrice leaned back on her bed’s frame, gaze wandering from her open journal as she stared out unseeing pass her dorm room’s window. She had the dreamstone Natty asked her to safekeep clutched in her hand, agreeing with the Gryffindor how its cool, smooth surface felt grounding in her palm when she could just barely find her footing in this new, magical community.
Another thing that plagued her mind were her dreams, memories Beatrice thought she’d come to terms with especially upon learning Occlumency, but the past nights seemed to have lasted longer – growing more vivid, as if the stench from that night still clings in the air…
Snapping her journal close as she huddled in the covers of her bed, Beatrice tried not to think of the lingering murmurs that she could now practically feel off her classmates’ minds, closing her eyes and mind off from the echoes of thought. The last of her consciousness worried whether she’d have to ask Sebastian’s friend for any pointers on Legilimency, the Gaunt seemed to keep to himself yet— There was something about him that evoked familiarity, like a forgotten lullaby she could barely remember…

Summary: You try to share some life-changing news with Sebastian, but it seems he has other plans. Specifically, recruiting you to join one of his missions.
A/N: Auror Seb is back! I've been writing this one in the background for a while. Who was going to warn me that writing action sequences was hard??? Next one for auror Seb is a prologue to the series :)
Tumblr media
“You’re sure?” You ask, swallowing thickly as you process the information your fellow healer has just told you.
“Very.” She smiles broadly. “By the looks of it, ten weeks or so.  You never noticed any of the symptoms until now?”
Your hand flies down to pet your stomach, and the tiny bump that now seems obvious.  How could you have not known?
“I figured I was just hungrier,” you admit. “Tired from the transition to the day shift, adjusting back to the time zone after traveling.”
“Yes, well no more international travel for you.” the healer advises. “Not until the baby is born.  I daresay, you might not be traveling for quite some time, especially with a young babe in hand. How’s that house in Marunweem coming along?”
You’ve been bragging about your fixer upper for months now; Sebastian has really made a dent in the work, adding another bedroom and fixing up a porch on the backside of the house.  During the week, Sebastian is poised and collected, proving time and time again to his superiors just why he deserved the promotion to senior auror.  On the weekends, he has his sleeves rolled up, shirt unbuttoned as he hammers away at the wooden planks.
More often than not, you’re ripping his shirt off for him, or situated below him on your knees.  He works so incredibly hard for the two of you and the life he wants to give you; it's hard to keep your hands to yourself.
You start piecing together the timeline, what you’d been doing all this time; when you remember where you were at, you blush at the thought.  Ten weeks ago, you and Sebastian were in Sicily, enjoying your first real holiday as a couple.  He spared no expense, renting a palazzo from an Italian wizard he’d met through a contact in the department of international magic affairs.  You’d spent three glorious weeks by the sea, eating fresh seafood and exploring every inch of Sebastian’s body at night.
“Sebastian!” You swatted at him.
He grinned at you, his fingers plunged inside of you.  It was positively deranged the way he began fucking you with his hand, the seed he’d just spilt inside of you pushed further in.
“What?” he asked nonchalantly. “You did agree to have my baby a few months ago, if I recall correctly…”
Sebastian’s swollen lips descended upon yours, hungrily kissing you.  To your surprise, his thick length started to swell again, clearly aroused by your whimpering and the wet sound of his spend being manipulated, pushed even closer to its goal.
“You’re incorrigible,” You laugh against his lips as he situated himself between your legs again. The room was dimly lit, only deeply burnt candles illuminating the room you’d called home for the past few days.
“What can I say?” Sebastian whispered, teeth grazing your chin. “I’m insatiable for my fiancee.”
You took in a sharp breath when you felt the blunt head of his cock pressed against your heat again. “That’s the third time tonight,” you gasped as he slid into you with ease.  Your body knew who it belonged to–Sebastian was no intrusion. Your head tilted back against the pillows, moaning as Sebastian laved his tongue up and down your sweaty throat.
“I don’t care,” Sebastian grunted, slowly rolling his hips against you. “Three–fucking–weeks–ungh, all I want to do is have you in bed, naked, for three whole weeks uninterrupted.”
You clutch onto him, teeth sinking into his shoulder as you flutter around him again.
“Ma’am, are you listening?”
You blink out of your daydream, looking back up at your healer.
“What did you ask?”
“I asked if you’ve been doing any strenuous activity lately.” The healer asks.
You turn bright red, brushing the back of your neck with your hand. You’ve been bedding Sebastian nearly every night, at least when the two of you aren’t exhausted from work or feeling ill.  Neither of you ever minded to track your courses, considering they’d been tricky after years of an off-kilter schedule at St. Mungo's.
“I’ll take it easy,” you assure the healer, who doesn’t seem all that convinced. She lets you off with a blood renewing potion and some vitamins, and you leave St. Mungo's in a daze.
Your first instinct is to run straight to the ministry, barreling into Sebastian’s office with the news.  But on second thought, it’s probably news best saved for home–you’d rather not have the most important news of your life shared in front of his colleagues. Instead, you make your way to Diagon Alley to pick up supplies for dinner, stopping by the owl post office to send a note to Poppy.  You haven’t heard from her in a little while, but you know she’ll be over the moon when she reads the news.
All is well in your life, you think.  You’ll have to move the wedding up–Ominis and Anne have been insistent you wait until the next spring, once the frost has thawed and you can have a May wedding.  You’d really rather not host your newborn at your wedding, so late autumn will have to do.  Perhaps you can sneak away to Feldcroft for the weekend with a few friends in tow, take an unbreakable vow in the center of the hamlet–
“I’m home,” You hear a voice call out.
Dropping the ladle, you wipe your hands on your skirts as you rush to greet Sebastian at the fireplace.  Skidding into the living room, your smile falters when you see the gruff expression on his face.
“What’s wrong?”
Sebastian shakes his head, hanging his coat on the rack next to the fireplace. “Long day,” he mumbles, sliding past you to go straight into the bedroom.  You feel a bit deflated–Sebastian is rarely one to avoid your touch, but tonight is different.  You hear the bathroom door slam, the faucets turning as he fills the bath.  From what you can remember, Sebastian is only ever this grizzly after a bad day at work.  Either bad news on a case, a perpetrator that’s gotten away, or the most dire, losing a colleague.
You tiptoe up to the bathroom, rapping your knuckles against the wooden door.
“Come in,” Sebastian sighs.
You slip past the door, kneeling next to the clawfoot tub.  Sebastian is submerged in steaming water, bubbles dissipating in the water.  Work has been particularly stressful–he’s gone a few days without shaving, dark stubble coating his chin.
“What’s wrong?” you ask gently.
Sebastian lolls his head back against the edge of the tub, staring at the ceiling. “We’ve got a real pain of a case on our hands.” he mutters, tilting his head to look at you.  It’s an unspoken question, one that doesn’t need asking–he should know by now that nothing he ever shares about his cases ever leaves the four walls of your home.
“International dragon breeding ring.” He states, the water splashing as he pulls up his knees under the water. “Seems like they were trying to raise some Hebridean Blacks in the highlands.  Clearly didn’t know how to handle their dragons, so the crew was burnt to a crisp by the time we got there.”
“That’s horrible,” you shake your head.
Sebastian wrinkles his nose. “I never, ever want to see bodies like that ever again.” he gags. “The worst part is now that they’re all toast, we’ve lost our only lead to the larger gang.”
“I’m sorry.” you pout, stroking his hair.
Sebastian sighs. “It’s okay.  I’m just quite tired for the day; I had a sausage roll on my way home from the office, I think I’ll just tuck in to bed early tonight.”
He notices you visibly shrink, knitting his thick eyebrows together. “What’s wrong, pet?”
“I made dinner.” you say sheepishly. “Your favorite.”
Sebastian gives you a wry look. “I’m sorry, love.  Rain check?  I really do just want to get in bed.”
Sebastian can’t see the way your hand hovers over your abdomen under the lip of the tub.  And while you’re desperate to share the news, you’d rather do so when he’s in a better mood. The last thing you want is the happy memory of your pregnancy announcement being marred by troubles at work.
“It’s fine, really.” you assure him. “I’ll pack it all up so you can take it to lunch tomorrow, bring a bit for the boys.”
Sebastian snorts, beads of water dripping from his arms as he lifts them out of the water. “I’m sure Everett and Andrew will love that.  Those two rarely ever see a home cooked meal.”
“I’m not sure what those boys would do without me.” you say sarcastically. “Ominis was right–I have to stop feeding them so often; they’re coming back week by week like stray cats.”
“Oh please, you love babying the two of them.” Sebastian rolls his eyes.
The word has your smile faltering, and Sebastian tilts his head, giving you a sympathetic look.
“It will happen, you know.” he puts a hand under your chin, tilting it up towards you. “I know it’s upsetting that it’s taken this long, but it’ll all work out in time.”
“Oh, that’s not–”
“Perhaps we should wait until after the wedding,” Sebastian suggests. “I mean, that’s surely the more proper thing to do. Plan it out, do it the right order.”
You turn bright red, swallowing thickly; Sebastian really has no clue. “We’ve never been proper, the two of us.”
Sebastian lets out a low chuckle, eyes darting down to your lips. “No, I don’t think we have.” The pad of his thumb traces over your lips, slipping between them.
“Tell you what,” Sebastian breathes. “I finish washing up, and I meet you in the bedroom for a cuddle.”
“Something tells me we’re not going to be cuddling.” You raise an eyebrow, eyes darting down to Sebastian’s free hand, which has slipped underneath the water and between his legs.
“No, we’re not.” Sebastian says, voice low and needy.  Your eyes flit down to the surface of the water, rippling with every stroke of his hand. “Get in the bed, now.”
You smile, biting down on your lip as you do what he says. After all, it won’t be long before two becomes three, so you want to relish these nights for as long as you can.
Tumblr media
You wake up when Sebastian presses his lips against yours.  He’s never been very good at kissing softly–almost always, your fiance kisses you with enough fervor to wake you.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers, nosing your cheek. “I wanted to kiss you before I left.  Got a message that I need to be in the office earlier than usual–all hands on deck.”
You open your eyes, blinking up at him.  He’s fully dressed in his suit, auror badge pinned to his coat pocket.  His work bag is at his feet, last night’s carefully wrapped leftovers next to it.  From the window behind him, you can see the sky is still black, a smattering of stars filling the sky.  It has to be four, maybe five o’clock in the morning.
“Send Everett and Andrew my love,” you yawn. “Tell them to enjoy the short rib.”
Sebastian snorts, mouth descending upon yours once more. “I’m starting to think you like them more than me,” he teases, nipping your lower lip with his teeth. “Have a good shift today.  I’ll see you at home tonight.”
You don’t follow Sebastian to the fireplace, instead electing to fall back into your bed for a few more hours of sleep before your shift at St. Mungo's. You’ll tell him tonight, you think, putting together the plan while you dress for the day.  Perhaps roast chicken and potatoes for dinner, and a cake with the good news on it.  You’re buzzing, eager to execute your plan once you’ve gotten home. So much so, you completely miss the owl sitting in the window, clucking at you while you hum over your cooking.
It’s only when the owl threatens to bite you that you pick up the note, deflating the minute you see the DMLE logo.
Urgent case.  All hands on deck–we’ve been ordered to stay in the office until further notice; might be traveling internationally too.  I’ll send an owl when I know more.
xx Sebastian
You shrug off your worries; this isn’t exactly unexpected. Given the high risk of Sebastian’s job, he’s often sequestered to the office or traveling for a case, sometimes days at a time. Perhaps the waiting will make your reveal all the more special.  You can picture Sebastian falling to the ground in front of the fireplace once you tell him after much time away from home.
After two days, you’re worried.  Come five, you’re irritated.  Ten days later, you’re thoroughly mad that this case has wrecked your plans.
It takes nearly all your willpower not to break down the doors of the auror office.  On the bright side, Sebastian knows well enough to reassure you of his good health via owl post. Per usual, he can’t say much, except that there had been a considerable development in their dragon breeding ring case.  He’s been bunking up with Everett and Andrew in the office (the two bachelors also sending thank you cards for the feast you’d cooked) and he’s quite miserable without your company.
Sebastian’s owl post gives you some peace over the miserable days, especially considering the onset of your morning sickness.  It seems that since your brain has accepted the concept of being pregnant, your body has decided to follow suit.  You’re lucky that there are plenty of other mothers working at St. Mungo’s beside you, each of them offering a sympathetic smile or a packet of crackers once you've emerged from the bathroom.
You’re just returning from a trip to the porcelain throne, wiping the corner of your mouth, only to hear your name once you pass the ward matron desk.
“Oi, ministry man is looking for you,” one of your fellow healers says, jerking their thumb back towards the ward matron’s desk.
You whip your head around to see a sharply dressed man standing at the desk, seemingly annoying your ward matron.  He’s older and gray; there’s something familiar about his face.
It clicks–he’s Sebastian’s superior officer.
The blood drains from your face as you walk towards him, hands clenched in fists. “Can I help you?”
He says your name, bowing his head slightly. “Augustus Green, we’ve met before. You’re Sallow’s fiancee, aren’t you?”
“Is he alright?” you ask, panicking.  You instinctively press a hand to your stomach.
“Oh goodness, I should’ve started with that,” he admits sheepishly. “Sallow is fine, no cause for alarm.  I’m here to summon you for an appearance at the office.”
“Summon? Me?” you gape up at him.
“All the information is here,” Green says impatiently, handing you a manilla folder. “And a letter for your matron to excuse you from your duties.”
It’s all a blur from there, the ward matron clicking her tongue disapprovingly when you hand over the letter.  With that task out of the way, Officer Green starts herding you to the closest floo flame.  It feels as if he’s got you by the back of your robe, pulling you into the green fire. You grip the manilla folder tighter, swallowing down the vomit in your throat.  Floo travel is safe while pregnant, but certainly not comfortable.
When your eyes open, you’re standing in an unfamiliar office.  You know where you are though–the ministry, the DMLE office specifically.  The furnishings match Sebastian’s office, except this one is clearly larger.  There’s a woman organizing files in the corner, quickly standing to greet Officer Green on his return.
“Marlene, put a kettle on, why don’t you?” Green huffs, walking over to his chair. “And summon the task force team.  Meeting in my office.”
You cross your arms over your chest–it’s Marlene of all people, one of Sebastian’s former flings.  She gives you a phony smile, eyes flitting down to the diamond ring on your left hand.
Well, you suppose the crestfallen look on her face makes the trip to the ministry worthwhile.
As Marlene passes through the doorway, a group of aurors makes their way inside.  A few unfamiliar faces, but then three of your favorites–Andrew Larson, Everett Clopton, and Sebastian.  Sebastian is giving you a proud grin, chest puffed out.  You haven’t seen him in nearly two weeks, and his once sparse beard is now growing thick.  It takes all of your self control to not throw yourself into his arms, relieved to see that your fiance is still well after being away for so long.
The aurors line up against the wall, awaiting instructions.
“I’m sure you’re wondering why we’ve asked you here,” Green states, folding his hands on his desk. “We’re assembling a task force team to work on a sensitive case. We normally wouldn’t operate on foreign soil, but considering the abductee is a British citizen–”
“Pardon, abductee?” You interrupt.
“Yes, details will be in your briefing.” Officer Green states, pointing down to the folder in your hands. “Our officers have spent the last few months tracking the smaller units of an international dragon breeding ring.  They’ve gotten sloppy since we’ve started apprehending their top breeders, and have since retreated to their home base in Norway. A British citizen has been abducted by the ring leaders of the operation, likely due to her expansive knowledge on Norwegian Ridgebacks.  Miss Sweeting is a well known magizoologist–”
Your throat goes dry, and for the first time in days, your stomach is churning from anxiety, not from morning sickness.
“Miss Sweeting was abducted from her home–sign of forced entry, her wand and personal effects were found littered throughout the property.  Our auror department has uncovered evidence that leads us to believe the criminals are keeping her on hand with the dragons to provide guidance in their breeding efforts.”
Officer Green carries on. “The task force comprises several of our best aurors, some of which were classmates of Miss Sweeting and have a personal interest in her safety. You were recommended to join the task force by Officer Sallow,” Green continues. “Considering your relationship to Miss Sweeting, and experience with dragons in the past.”
You blink at the senior officer, mouth agape. “But I’m only a healer, sir.”
“A healer will be extraordinarily important for a mission like this,” Green points out. “With the imminent danger–”
“You saved half the department once,” Andrew Larson blurts. “Rather have you on our team if we’re facing dragons and dark wizards in one go.”
The room dissolves into nervous giggles as Green swats at Andrew.  Sebastian, however, is completely unphased, smiling at you as if he’s signed you up for a field trip, not a mission across international lines to save one of your best friends.  If Poppy wasn’t the one in danger, you probably would’ve wrung his neck by now.
“As I was saying before Mr. Larson so rudely interrupted,” Green rolled his eyes. “We need a healer on the task force. We will pay you for any days missed at your regular shift, and a bonus upon return.  That, and all accommodations in Norway–”
“I’m sorry, Norway?” you ask, dumbfounded.
“Yes, where we believe the perpetrators are keeping Miss Sweeting to assist in the breeding of their dragons.” Green interjects, tapping the briefing folder again. “We have a portkey scheduled to depart in an hour. Please review your folder beforehand.”
You hardly listen to the rest of the briefing.  The rational side of your brain is screaming at you to tell the truth–you’re pregnant, the healers just said to limit international travel, and you hardly think you should be jumping into battle with a dragon breeding ring in your condition.  Is portkey travel even safe during pregnancy?
Your thoughts scream at you as Green dismisses the room; before your brain even registers movement, your feet are scuffling towards Sebastian’s office. He’s standing at his desk, two large duffle bags side by side. You shut the door with trembling hands.
“I took the liberty of purchasing some things you’ll need,” he says cheerfully, digging through the bag. You hold out your arms as he pushes a pair of trousers and a shirt into them. “Some wool stockings and your base layers, it’ll be cold, that’s for sure…” he trails off.
“Sebastian,” you swallow thickly. “Sebastian, I–”
“I’m sorry if this is coming across as a surprise.” Sebastian shucks off his jacket, unbuttoning his shirt. “That, and for being gone for so long.  It was all hands on deck with the case; I’ve been bunking up in here with Larson and Clopton.  You have no idea how badly I want to be home.” he groans, slipping a new undershirt on.
Your brain is frazzled. You want to be angry at him, to be worried, but your heart is thumping in your chest.  It’s been too long since you’ve seen him, and you’ve been worried sick.  Your body’s first instinct is to wrap your arms around him and inhale his familiar scent.
Sebastian laughs when you do so, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “I know, Pet. As soon as this is done and dusted and we’ve got Poppy home, things can go back to normal.” he murmurs against your hair.
You nuzzle your face deeper into his chest, inhaling his cedar cologne. “Are you sure this is safe?  I'm not in dueling shape.” you admit sheepishly.  In your youth, you would’ve charged into combat headfirst without warning–years of working in St. Mungo's has you untrained.
Sebastian laughs, his beard tickling your face. “Safe? You’re the best duelist I know–besides myself, of course. You’ll be fine.  Besides, we mostly need you for healing purposes.  That magic of yours works a trick on burns.  Remember–”
“In the Undercroft, when you accidentally blew up a barrel of mead.” you snort at the memory.  It hadn’t been funny then, watching Sebastian writhe on the floor from the burns.  You’d fallen at his side, instinctively using your ancient magic to siphon the pain. He was healed in a matter of seconds, and it set you on the trajectory to become a healer.
“Precisely.” Sebastian licks his lips. “That, and to be with Poppy. I’m sorry, I wish I could have told you sooner, but we weren’t allowed to say.” He pulls a wand from his desk–Poppy’s wand, white ash wood with a swirling handle–and presses it into your hands. “You should hold on to it, for safekeeping.  You can give it to her once we rescue her.”
You look up at his chocolate brown eyes, lids dotted with freckles.  You want to tell him–you need to tell him–
“What’s wrong?” Sebastian pouts. “You’ve always said you wanted to come to work with me.”
You open your mouth, trying to find the words, but you can’t.  You’ll be fine, you think.  What’s one more trip?  Besides, you’ll do anything to ensure Poppy is safe.
“I don’t like your beard.” you blurt.
Sebastian roars with laughter, rubbing his jawline. “I knew you’d hate it; Clopton and Larson were egging me on to grow it out.  I don't have a razor here; I promise I’ll shave it when I get home.  Now, come on, let’s get you dressed all warm and snug. We've got a portkey to catch.”
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry–I thought I had your size memorized.” Sebastian mutters, helping you unlace your corset.
You wince, a low hiss coming out from your lips as you let the offending garment fall to the ground.  Assessing your torso in the blurred mirror, you can see lines from the whalebone pins left in your skin.  Your hand instinctively rubs over your stomach silently apologizing to the babe inside of you for being squished all afternoon.
“The portkey couldn’t just drop us off here, at the inn?” You complain, slipping one of Sebastian’s clean shirts over your head.
“We couldn’t draw attention to ourselves, you know that,” Sebastian tuts. “Besides, I thought you enjoyed hiking?”
“I enjoy hiking when it's planned.” you groan, falling back against the bed. “Almost thought I’d ask Andrew to cart me up the mountain.”
Sebastian starts unlacing your boots, letting the heavy shoes fall to the floor.  Your woolen stockings are peeled off next, laid out next to the fireplace to stay warm.  He carefully unlaces and works your trousers off your legs, draping them over a stool.
“I am sorry.” Sebastian says, climbing into bed next to you.  Your muscles are sore, legs like jelly after the long trek.  Knowing this, he pulls your legs into his lap, working his thumbs into your calves to massage them. “I thought it might be fun.”
You snort. “Fun? Sebastian, we’re on a mission to find Poppy, who's been taken hostage by dragon dealers. That hardly sounds like fun.” Your head falls back against the pillows, which have definitely seen better days.
“I know, but they were looking for a healer to join the force, and I knew you were the right person.” Sebastian reminds you, nimble fingers moving down to massage your sore feet. “Besides, it’s kind of fun to work together, isn’t it?  Reminds me of the good old days.”
“Ah, yes, the good old days.” you parrot back to him. “Us, running like vigilantes around the highlands. Stealing bounty from old chests, blasting away at acromantulas.”
“What can I say?  We were spirited teenagers.” Sebastian chuckles.  His fingers slow, making deliberate circles in the arch of your foot. “I wanted us to have one more good adventure before we settled down, got married.”
You prop yourself up on your elbows, raising an eyebrow at him. “We won’t have adventures after we’re married?  Thanks for the vote of confidence.” you jest.
“You know what I mean,” Sebastian shrugs. “After we’re married and we’ve got kids in the house, we’ll be boring old parents.” he wrinkles his nose. “Might as well bank up a few good stories for the children while we still can.”
Your smile falters. “Do you really think we’ll be that boring?”
“We’ll have to be, won’t we?” Sebastian sighs. “I’ll probably take some time off after the baby is born, of course.  And when I’m back to work, I’ll ask to be reassigned to low risk cases.  So, in the meantime, I’ll enjoy all the tough stuff while I still can.”
You should tell him.  You really do need to tell him.
You don’t.
He sounds so glum, trading in a life of adventure and danger for nappies and lullabies.  Perhaps his interest in fatherhood was just spurred by the renewal of your relationship. It makes sense that he’d start thinking more clearly now that it’s been nearly a year together.  Merlin, maybe he’s already bored of the little life you’ve created together–the house on a hill, far from the bustling city.  The logical side of your brain reminds you that Sebastian loves you, dotes on you, hand and foot (quite literally, the man is still massaging your feet).  Yet the irrational side of your brain, likely flooded with pent-up hormonal energy, reminds you that he hasn’t been home in days .
“You still love me, right?”  Gods, the words sound pathetic coming out of your mouth.
“Of course I do.” Sebastian’s eyes widen. “How could you think otherwise?”
“It’s nothing.” you say quickly, waving him off. “Just a stupid intrusive thought.”
Sebastian clicks his tongue, pushing your legs from his lap.  You stay, perched on your elbows, watching him move in between your legs. With a mischievous smile, Sebastian picks up your foot, pressing a kiss to your ankle.
“Then it seems I’ll have to work extra hard to put those thoughts to bed,” Sebastian whispers lowly.  His tongue laves circles up your calf, eyes trained on you while his mouth moves up, up, up your thigh.
“You colleagues are in the other room.” You croak.
“We have magic, don’t we?” Sebastian teases. “ Silencio should do the trick, unless I’ve made you forget basic spellcasting.”
“Shut up,” you mumble, trying to hide the laugh bubbling in your throat.
It’s against your better judgment, but you reach over to the side table to grab your wand.  Flicking it at the door, you mutter the silencing charm under your breath.  The room suddenly feels like a bubble, no noise from the outside world permitted in, and vice versa.
“We can’t go crazy,” you whimper as Sebastian takes a deliberate lick, pressing a kiss to your center. A moan slips from your mouth, head crashing against the flat pillows. “We have to wake up– oh, yes, right there –ugh, Sebastian, we have to wake up early.”
Sebastian grins, teeth grazing your skin lightly as he presses a languid kiss to the crease of your thigh. “I won’t keep you awake too long.” he promises, before diving back between your legs.
Sebastian knows you–almost a little too well, you think.  Somehow he knows the sex you need is tender and soft, his hips rocking into yours while he whispers how much he missed you, how he longs to come home to your bed.  His hand ghosts over your abdomen, but you quickly pull it up to your lips, pressing soft kisses to his worn knuckles. When he comes, face buried in your neck, he can't stop telling you how much he loves you. It isn't long before Sebastian drifts to sleep, lightly snoring against your skin with his arms wrapped around you. His beard tickles your shoulders, but you’ve missed him too much to push him away.
You flick your wrist at the candles, quickly extinguishing the fire.  With only pale moonlight streaming in through threadbare curtains, you pull the blankets up to your neck, focusing on Sebastian’s steady breathing.
Steady. Unwavering (except the time that you broke up…well, he’s more than made up for that by now). Dependable, devoted. Sebastian is going to make the most amazing father. You shut your drooping eyelids, reassuring yourself that Sebastian will be excited when you finally get to share your news.
Tumblr media
“I'm freezing.” you spit out, shivering from the cold air.
“We’ve been waiting for hours,” Everett complains, recasting an anti-fogging spell on his glasses. “Larson should’ve made contact by now.”
“We have to stick to the plan,” Sebastian bites back. “Larson was to make contact with the dealers, send a signal leading to his location.  If he didn’t by sundown, we’d abandon the post and go back to the inn.”
While Sebastian had kept you busy the night prior, Andrew had gone undercover.  Your sweet Ravenclaw friend is unassuming, and quite the actor it seems–he reported at breakfast to say the breeders had given him coordinates to a meeting point, where he’d be given the opportunity to purchase a Norwegian Ridgeback dragon egg. Poking at his poached egg, Andrew assured the group that he’d send a patronus signal for back up once he’d identified the location of the operation.
Waiting for Andrew’s signal is excruciating, the better half of the day spent sitting around a now nearly burnt out campfire. You were pacing back and forth in the snow, drumming your fingers against your throat.  While you’re sure Andrew can hold his own (he has for years now, Sebastian tells you–a surprisingly astute duellist, much improved from his days in Crossed Wands) you hate the idea of your cheerful blond friend being alone.
Sebastian stands up, brushing snow from his pants. “It’ll be dark soon,” he muses. “We should start heading down to the inn soon.”
Your eyes widen. “And leave Andrew?”
“Andrew is an auror, Pet.” Sebastian reminds you. “One of our best.  He’ll be just fine getting down the mountain on his own.”
“If he needed back up, he would’ve called by now.” Everett tries to assure you, wiping his fogged up glasses again. “Gosh, I hope we’re only here another day or so–I fear my chomping cabbages are dead by now, I’ve been away from home for too long.”
“We can’t possibly leave him,” you gasp, stomping your foot in the snow. “I won’t allow it.”
Sebastian opens his mouth to argue with you, but clamps it shut when the sky darkens.
“Take cover!” he roars, grabbing you and tackling you to the snow.  You gasp, curling into him as he rolls you behind a collection of boulders. In seconds, Everett has joined you.  His mouth is hanging open, staring up at the massive dark spot soaring above you.
“Sweet mother of Merlin,” Everett gasps. “Is that–”
“A Norwegian Ridgeback,” Sebastian grunts, tucking you in tighter to his chest. “A young one, based on the size, but still dangerous.”
Peeking over Sebastian’s shoulder, you can see a young dragon soaring overhead.  You can see the cracked collar, chains hanging from its neck. The poor beast is clawing at the collar, a high pitched squeal coming from its mouth as it flaps its wings. When its jaw opens, you can see the flames curling up from the back of its throat.  Sebastian backs into you, an arm curling around your waist to keep you shielded from the heat.
“Protego!” you hear a familiar voice scream.
“You’re fucking kidding me,” Sebastian spits out.  He peeks around the boulder, eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets as his jaw falls open.  You stand to sneak a peek, equally shocked at the sight before you.
Andrew is running, bloodied with gashes in his clothes.  His blond hair is matted down and you’re not sure if it’s from blood or melted snow.  Wand extended, Andrew casts a shield charm to protect himself from the fire and waves of green curses.  His arm is looped through a short brunette’s, her wrists bound in goblin-forged silver cuffs. It’s Poppy, who is yelling at Andrew to avoid hurting the young dragon. Several breeders are chasing after them, firing curse after curse on Andrew’s heels.
“A little help here!” Andrew roars, waving his arm the second he spots his colleagues.
The aurors break into action with little hesitation. Sebastian and Everett waste no time sprinting towards their partner. It feels like you’ve barely had a second to blink before the flashes of red and green start clashing around you.  Sebastian jumps to avoid a well-aimed shot, rolling to the ground before firing a countercurse at his attacker. His hair is covered in powdery snow, cheeks red from the cold as he fires off a defensive spell set.  You watch him, mouth agape, barely registering his voice calling out your name.
“Get Poppy out of here!” Sebastian hollers. “Both of you, before the dragon circles back!”
Right, you think, shaking out of your stupor.  You run, feet slowed by the snow, towards your friend.  She grabs your hands as soon as you reach her, staring at you in a panic.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Poppy shrieks.
Over her shoulder, you can see one of the breeders teeing up a spell.  With ease, you raise a boulder from behind him to knock him down the hill.  In doing so, you’ve drawn attention to yourself, the other breeders realizing that you’re a bigger threat than anticipated.
“Here for you,” you assure her. “Come on, let’s go.”
“You shouldn’t be here,” Poppy panics. “I got your letter, the morning they broke into my flat–”
“That’s the least important thing right now,” you screech, firing off a countercurse; the rebound is so strong, both of you are nearly knocked off your feet.
“But the baby!” Poppy shouts. “This isn’t safe!”
“Now is hardly the time to be scolding me,” you argue, panting as you channel your ancient magic to disintegrate one of your attackers. “The baby will be fine, I’m more worried about you!”
“What the bloody hell are you two talking about?”
Now you’ve really let the cat out of the bag, you think between spell combinations. You pause in place, braid whipping through the wind, to see Sebastian staring at you across the way.  His eyes are as wide as saucers, blinking rapidly as his mouth opens and shuts.
“Congratulations, guys!” Everett yells sarcastically, glasses now fully fogged from the fighting. “Think we can discuss this another time?”
“You’re pregnant?” Sebastian shrieks.
“I’ve been trying to tell you,” you pant, dodging a curse, “but you’ve been gone, I only just found out the day before you left–”
“We have to get you out of here!” Sebastian panics, running towards you from across the field. “You’re pregnant!  This is unsafe!”
“We don’t have time for this conversation!” You roar, casting confringo on the poachers drawing near.
“Careful with the heat, it’ll be bad for the baby!” Sebastian chides, but you roll your eyes.
“You got me into this mess, Sallow!  Both messes, I might add.” You say through gritted teeth.  It’s true–he’s the one who got you pregnant in the first place, and then volunteered you to join a covert mission. Honestly, you might find his rapid shift in attitude hilarious if you weren’t being rained down upon by flames and curses.
“We had sex, is that bad for the baby?” Sebastian asks. “For him? Or her?  Oh Merlin, what if it’s a girl–”
“I’m sorry,” Everett raises a brow, sidestepping a diffindo that had been thrown his way. “The two of you were shagging last night when we were supposed to be preparing for a mission?”
“You two are disgusting!” Andrew spits, casting stupefy on his assailant.
“Can someone please figure out a way to get me out of these cuffs?” Poppy roars, shaking her still shackled wrists. “And does anyone have my wand by any chance?”
You curse under your breath, wiggling Poppy’s wand out of your too-tight breeches. She grasps her wand with both hands, wincing as you channel your ancient magic into snapping the metal.  Her wrists are rubbed raw from spending weeks in chains, but she shakes them out as she reacquaints herself with her wand.
The sky goes dark again; the dragon circles in the air, flapping wings causing the entire battle to cease while everyone braces in the snow.
“You need to get out of here,” Sebastian hisses. “I’m begging you–”
“And leave you here, with this lot and the dragon? Absolutely not.” you snap. “The father of my child needs to see another day.”
“Hello!” Everett screams. “There’s still a fight going on here, if the two of you haven’t– ouch !”
Both of you turn your heads to see Everett laying in the snow, groaning.  One of the breeders is stomping towards him, twirling his wand in hand.  Nostrils flared, you push Sebastian aside and aim your wand.  With barely even a flick, the man is thrown back against the snow, a disconcerting crack ringing through the air.
Not your boys , you think.  You plan to see all of these aurors back to London, alive and without injury.
“Poppy,” you yell, firing basic casts at the approaching breeders. “Can you secure the dragon?”
“Working on it!” Poppy’s voice is muffled, her wand between her teeth.  You can see her, your little firecracker of a friend, trying to scale the rocks to get closer to the dragon.  As the country’s leading expert on dragons, you hope she’ll have the dragon under control before long. She’s babbling towards the beast, cooing reassuring words as it snorts steam.
“Bertie, calm down.” You hear Poppy cluck at the dragon, her hands held high. “It’ll be alright–”
Andrew, who has foregone his wand, punches one of the breeders squarely in the nose. Shaking his hand out, he turns back to Poppy. “Bertie? Bertie, who you were droning on about while I was trying to rescue you, is the damn dragon?” he yells. “The one who was trying to kill us just a bit earlier?”
“I was alone!” Poppy shrieks back. “You try being alone with just dragons for two weeks, you would start naming them too!  And he was not trying to kill us, he’s just afraid–”
“Shut up!” Sebastian hollers. “Can you two behave?”
Sebastian is shouting at both Andrew and Poppy, and doesn’t see the breeder approaching from his left.  His arm is raised, a knowing smirk on his phase as he brandishes his wand at your fiance. Sebastian is too preoccupied with scolding his subordinate to notice the flickering red tip of the breeder’s wand, teeing up what you can only imagine is the cruciatus curse.
You don’t have time to shriek.  Instead, you feel your anger bubbling up through your fingertips, the telltale signs of your ancient magic starting to spill from your hands.  You’re running, wand arm raised, about to attack when you feel the wind knocked out of your lungs.  Your body betrays you, losing balance as you crumple to the snow with no control.  There’s a sharp ache in your head, ears ringing as you try to make sense of what’s going on. As if life is stuck in slow motion, you see a sizable boulder plop into the snow next to you.
A fucking rock.  You’ll be damned if you let a rock take you out.
Trying to stand, your knees buckle beneath you.  The sharp ache in your head starts pounding, and you can’t stop blinking your bleary eyes. Fingers grazing your temple, you’re shocked at the slippery sensation on your fingertips.  Droplets of bright red dot the pristine white snow, and despite your fuzzy vision, you can tell that it's your own blood on your hands.
“Oh, shit.” you slur.
It feels like you’re underwater (a sensation you know well from the Keeper’s trials during your fifth year).  Things are slower, soupier almost.  You can see Sebastian’s head turn when another auror shouts at him, and he narrowly misses a flurry of red bolts aimed at him from one of the attackers.  Skidding in the snow, Sebastian fires a counter curse that knocks the breeder off the edge of the cliff.
Someone is shouting your name, and Sebastian turns his head.  You think you’ll remember the look of horror on his face forever, a twisted grimace as he dashes towards you.  You want to sit up, but your body says otherwise–your head is pounding, and perhaps it’ll feel better if you sleep.  Sebastian is patting your cheeks with cold hands, repeating your name like a prayer as you hear the commotion ensue behind the two of you.
“Stay with me,” Sebastian pleads. “I’m sorry–”
You don’t hear anything after that.
Tumblr media
When you open your eyes, you’re in St. Mungo’s.  Specifically, the intensive care unit, your own ward.
“What the hell?” you mumble, leaning up on your elbows.
“Oh thank Merlin, you’re awake.” Sebastian sighs with relief.  You turn to look at the brunette next to you–his head is in his hands, dark waves unkempt and tangled from sleep. His beard is the longest you’ve ever seen it, shaggy and uncombed. After taking in a deep breath, he launches himself to your bed, fingers pressed against your pulse.  Once he’s determined that you are in fact well, he presses a firm kiss to your forehead.
“Is the–”
“The baby is alright,” Sebastian smiles. “Healers have been checking on you two probably twice an hour for the last two days.”
“Two days?” you gape. “I’ve been out for two days?”
“It was a nasty hit.” Sebastian shudders. “I was so worried about you, I haven’t been able to sleep,” he admits.  The chair next to you has become his little nest; bundles of blankets are tossed on the floor, a hospital grade pillow squished into the back of the chair.
“What happened?” you wince as you sit up. Sebastian immediately places more pillows behind your back, handing you a cup of water from the night stand. “Is everyone alright?”
“Everyone is alright,” Sebastian assures you. “Everett broke his arm, but that was quick to mend.  Andrew looked like a champion prizefighter, that’s for sure.  I think he likes the black eye, he thinks it makes him a bit more popular amongst the ladies at the pub.”
“And Poppy?” You ask between gulps. Merlin, you really must have been out for two days–you’re positively parched.  Before you can set the cup down, Sebastian casts aguamenti and you’re happily sipping once more.
“Safe and healthy.” Sebastian promises. “Let’s just say Bertie the dragon really bonded with Poppy while they were imprisoned together.  He made quick work of the breeders.”
You blink at your fiance, brows furrowed as you try to make sense of his comment.  When he bares his teeth and clicks his jaw open and shut, you cover your mouth with your hands.
“He ate them?” you gape.
“Well, it was us or the breeders.” Sebastian scoffs. “Better them than me.”
“I suppose that’s why the dragon was chasing after Andrew,” you muse. “He thought Andrew was trying to kidnap Poppy, not save her.”
“Spot on.” Sebastian laughs. “Speaking of, there are some people who’d like to see you.”
The door opens, and your friends spill through the door as if they’ve been waiting right outside the entire time.  The normally stoic Anne runs to you, clutching your forearm. Ominis stands over her, pressing a long kiss to the top of your head.
“I can’t believe the two of you.” Ominis shakes his head. “Battling a dragon in the first trimester.”
Sebastian furrows his brow. “Hey–I wouldn’t have asked if I’d known.”
“And I would’ve gone regardless.” You declare, pulling Sebastian’s hand into your own.
Andrew, Everett, and Poppy file into the room after your sister and brother-in-law. Everett has his arm in a sling, while Andrew still looks like hell.  Poppy has a few bandages on her hands, but she easily slides down at your side next to Anne.  The brunette girl gives you a teary eyed smile, mouthing her thanks.
“First mission and you get taken out by a damn boulder.” Andrew laughs.  His knuckles are bruised and cut, black eye starting to go green around the edges. “I thought you’d be an asset to the team, but you ended up a liability.”
“Oh shush,” you wave him off, pressing your hand to the soft edge of your belly. “You needed me.”
“That we did,” Everett says softly, squeezing your hand. “Thank you.  I would’ve been clobbered off the cliff if it weren’t for you.”
“I can’t believe you volunteered to come along pregnant.” Andrew blurts. “Are you insane?”
“It was for Poppy.” You admit, winking at your favorite magizoologist. “I’d do anything for her.”
“Well, I must demand that you start relaxing.” Poppy declares. “You shouldn’t lift a finger for the rest of your pregnancy.  If Sallow volunteers you for any missions, Bertie will take his head–you have my word.”
“Rest assured she won’t be doing anything but relaxing from now on.” Sebastian says firmly, crossing his arms. “I’ve already had a discussion with the ward matron about your leave of absence–”
You hold your hand up. “Sebastian, I’m not going to stop working. You know that.”
“You’re going to take a few weeks off to rest,” Sebastian continues. “Trust me, the matron told me they’ve had enough of your puking.”
You lick your lips, eyes roving the room as you take in the scene.  It’s all of your favorite people in one room, the people your child will know best.  You imagine your child growing up with them–visits from Aunt Poppy and her wild beasts, dinners with Andrew and Everett. You swallow thickly imagining Anne and Ominis doting over your newborn, and tears begin to prick at the corners of your eyes.
“Are you tired?” Sebastian’s voice brings you back down to ear, his gentle murmur in your ear.
You nod, squeezing his hand.
“We’ll all be off, then.” Ominis announces. “Anne and I will get started on planning your elopement.”
You wipe at your eyes, which are now properly tearing up. “You don’t need to plan our wedding.” You let out a watery laugh.
“You’ll have the best wedding.” Anne assures you. “Certainly better than ours; I still remember Sebastian’s dates fighting on the dance floor–”
“I think that’s a story for another time,” Sebastian interjects hastily. “My wife is tired, she should get some rest.”
The motley crew files out of your hospital room, each promising to follow up with you in the days to come.  Ominis has to practically tear Anne away from you, your sister-in-law spouting questions about wedding cakes while her husband pushes her out the door.  He winks an unseeing eye at the two of you, his best friends, before the door clicks shut.
Immediately, Sebastian is climbing into your bed, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“We’re having a baby.” Sebastian says softly, his large palm flattening over your belly. “You’re having our baby.”
“We’re having a baby.” You echo, turning to him in the bed.  The hospital beds at St. Mungo’s aren’t big by any means, and Sebastian will have a backache if he sleeps with you–but it doesn’t look like he’s planning on going anywhere.
Sebastian’s eyes are trained on you, hungrily taking in every detail of your face. “I can’t wait,” he garbles out, eyes watery. “You’re giving me a family.  Gods, I’ll never be able to make it up to you.”
“Make what up to me?” You ask gently, pressing a palm to his cheek.  Tears start streaming down his face, sniffling his freckled nose.
“For everything . Dragging you into a mission with a fucking dragon,” Sebastian laughs. “For tackling you on the mountain. Being gone for nearly two weeks, not giving you the opportunity to tell me.  For wasting so much time–for not making you my wife earlier. Merlin, if I hadn’t been such a bonehead five, six years ago, things could’ve been so different–”
You press a fingertip to his lips. “I won’t have them any other way,” you whisper. “I’m so happy. You’re happy, aren’t you? You’re not upset?”
Sebastian laughs harder, shaking his head. “I couldn’t be happier. I’m going to be a father.” he says gleefully. “How could I possibly be upset?”
You chew on your lower lip. “The night I meant to tell you, you said something about us waiting until after the wedding. And at the inn, you seemed so worried that we’d be boring once we had a baby. Rather thought I was ruining your plans for us.”
Sebastian shakes his head. “I can't believe I ruined the surprise.  Darling, I was being an absolute cad that night; I can't believe I didn't see it coming.  You'd made my favorite dinner, and I turned it down for a sausage roll.” he says dramatically, shaking his head. “And I’m sorry about what I said at the inn. Pet, you and I could never be boring. Not while we’re together.”
“And you’ll be okay getting married earlier?” you ask nonchalantly, drawing circles on his chest. “Even if it wrecks our plans for a spring wedding?”
“I’ll marry you tomorrow if you let me.” Sebastian murmurs. “Fuck the plans. The only thing that matters to me is our family.”
You pull Sebastian into a hug, face nuzzling into his beard. He’s whispering into your ear–promising to shave his beard, to finish the flooring in the second bedroom as soon as he’s back home. He’ll take a few weeks off now that this case is over, and perhaps he’ll apply for low-risk cases now that he’s a father. He talks about your wedding, about how you can still get married in the center of Feldcroft if he can conjure enough tents.
Your eyelids are drooping, head resting against his chest when you think back to the topic of weddings.
“Earlier when Anne was talking about her and Ominis’s wedding–you had two dates?” you ask sleepily. “What was that about?”
Sebastian lets out a roar of a laugh, pressing his lips against your hair. “A story for another time.  It’ll make you laugh, I promise.” he assures you. “I’ll tell you when you wake up.”
You nod, shutting your eyes.  Tucked into Sebastian’s arms, you fall asleep against his chest.

So I renamed my main fic... not without a purpose though! I plan to see this past just Sebastian's 5th year, so I felt it was best to rename it in order to show more of his future with the new student!
I also have the link for Ao3 right here and I am working to add it to wattpad as well!

⋆。˚𖦹 This Series was previously titled "Times in Sebastian's 5th year!!
As a reminder, this diverts heavily from Canon, using the characters from the game as foundations for a different story. Written in y/n (but slowly going back through to remove and leave only a few sparingly), it has more of a focus on Victorian standards for courting/relationships instead of just “hot and heavy” so to speak. If that appeals to you, please feel free to read and comment your suggestions for future parts.
Parts with NSFW Content are marked! Also some chapters now have AI Audios with links!

You blew a puff of air upward, hoping it would release the strand of hair that was currently plastered to your face. Sweat trickled from your hairline, over your temples and down your neck until it disappeared beneath your shirt collar.
It was abnormally hot outside, but there was no chance you were going to miss the quidditch final. It was Slytherin versus Gryffindor, a rivalry that promised a match for the ages – not to mention your very best friend was a Slytherin beater.
“Get him, Seb!” you screamed as your best friend whizzed overhead in pursuit of a bludger. Slytherin had a 40-point lead and the match was approaching its second hour of play. Gryffindor was holding its own, but its players were clearly growing weary against Slytherin’s physical and aggressive style of play. If the Slytherin seeker could just catch that damn snitch, the party could start.
Suddenly, the Slytherin seeker initiated a sharp nose dive and you screamed in encouragement. She hurtled toward the ground, two Gryffindors tailing close behind in an attempt to knock her off course. Their desperation was palpable and you feared they might knock her off her broom if she got too close to the snitch.
Sebastian was attempting to corral another bludger. You watched nervously as his eyes narrowed in concentration, his bat raised until he connected it with the bludger. It careened toward the Gryffindors, forcing them to abandon their path.
“Yes, go, go, go!” you screamed so loud, Ominis Gaunt had to cover his ears from his seat next to you. You had dragged the poor boy along to the match, despite his incessant reminders that he would be unable to see any of the action. But he was the other third of your trio and the undeniable glue that held you and Sebastian together, so you convinced him that Sebastian deserved both of your support that day.
“Go, Alice, go!” you screamed at the seeker, silently praying your housemate would come through for Slytherin. She inched closer and closer to the ground, her fist closing around the snitch with about five feet to spare.
The stadium erupted in a frenzy. You grabbed Ominis by the head, hugging him to your chest as you screamed and bounced in elation. He squawked in protest, but even he couldn’t conceal the smile that had formed across his lips.
The Slytherin team descended to the center of the quidditch pitch until they piled up in a massive group hug. You laughed as you spotted Sebastian at the bottom of the pile, his grin clear even from your seats high up in the stands.
Headmaster Black strode to the center of the pitch with Madam Kogawa carrying the quidditch cup close behind. Professor Sharp met them and motioned for the Slytherin team to gather around, where he presented them with the cup.
The Slytherins in the stands roared with applause and you whistled as loud as you could, drawing another annoyed glance from Ominis.
“Come on, let’s get down there!” you said, tugging on the sleeve of Ominis’ robe.
“Yes, mother,” he sighed as he drew his wand, its red tip guiding him as you pulled him through the sea of students.
Once you reached the bottom of the staircase, your eyes scanned the grounds in search of Sebastian. Sad and angry Gryffindors shoved past you, coaxing a laugh from you as you continued toward the center of the pitch. Finally, you spotted Sebastian engaged in an animated chat with Imelda Reyes, who was smiling smugly while the rest of their team continued to celebrate with the cup hoisted into the air.
“Sebastian!” you screeched as you launched yourself toward the boy. You threw your arms around him and leapt, your legs wrapping around his torso as he stumbled backward to brace his balance. “You did it!” you practically screamed in his face. You hugged him tightly as more bodies clad in green flooded onto the pitch.
Sebastian offered you a goofy grin as he supported your weight, his arms squeezing you tightly so you wouldn’t slip.
“That boyfriend of yours is going to kill me,” he murmured in your ear. You drew backward slightly to give him a pointed look.
“You and I both know you’d demolish him in a duel,” you said.
“Can’t argue with that,” Sebastian said with a shrug. He set you on your feet and draped an arm around your shoulder. “I’m going to get cleaned up and changed. See you at the after party?”
“I’ve got a bottle of firewhiskey with your name on it.”
You skipped off to find Ominis again, but were instead met by your boyfriend. He was leaning against the entrance archway of the pitch, his arms crossed as his stare followed you. You sighed to yourself and begrudgingly trudged toward him.
“Hey,” you said, your tone much more feeble compared to the shouting and squealing you’d done moments ago.
“Hey.” You could tell he was cross with you from the way his jaw clenched, though his eyes were calm and cool.
“Some match, huh?” you said cheerily, hoping you could bring his mood up rather than the opposite.
“Sure was.”
He was clearly in no mood to discuss quidditch, so you slipped your arm through his. “You okay?” you asked.
“I was until I saw you and Sallow.”
“Andrew,” you sighed, your shoulders slumping in frustration. “I’ve told you a million times, it’s not like that with Sebastian.”
“And I’ve told you a million times that I’m not comfortable with the way you two egg each other on,” Andrew replied hotly. “The way you two carry on is improper and it’s disrespectful to me. His reputation is going to ruin yours.”
Sebastian was a known flirt who had earned a reputation for his extracurricular activities with half of the girls who attended Hogwarts. He didn’t have girlfriends, though, and you secretly wondered if he’d ever settle down. As a result, your friendship with Sebastian had endured its fair share of rumors and speculation as people wondered if you’d ever venture past the threshold of platonic kindred spirits.
“We’re just friends,” you tried, but Andrew glared to cut you off.
“Yes, I get it,” he snapped. “You, Sallow and Gaunt, Slytherin’s special little trio. But you’re my girlfriend.”
“You’re right,” you sighed, already tired of fighting. You didn’t want Andrew to feel slighted by you. If the tables were turned and some girl was climbing all over him, you knew you wouldn’t like it.
But you and Andrew were vastly different. You were bolder, more outspoken and adventurous. Hell, you were the hero of Hogwarts two years ago when you saved the school from Ranrok.
Andrew was more studious and reserved, a true Ravenclaw. Professors liked him, but for reasons that differed from the way they liked you. You were creative and savvy when it came to magic, whereas Andrew boasted the kind of intelligence that manifested in the form of logic and reason.
When you first started dating Andrew, Ominis and Sebastian laughed at you. They teased you like brothers, poking fun at your new boyfriend.
“Has he even been in a duel, ever?” Sebastian had chortled.
“And isn’t he friends with Puffskein Duncan?” Ominis added.
You chided them for their judgment and teasing, but Ominis, ever the prim and proper gentleman, later pulled you aside to tell you he was happy for you. He said Andrew was smart and would take good care of you, to which you snorted and reminded Ominis this was merely a teenage romance. You couldn’t see yourself invested in anything long-term with Andrew and were merely interested to see where your relationship would lead.
When you mentioned this to Sebastian in passing one morning as the two of you lounged in the Slytherin Common Room, he snickered.
“So Larson’s too dry to earn any consideration for a long-term commitment?” he mused.
"I've used Crucio on you before. Don't think I won't do it again," you warned.
"I'm just saying! Seems like he's a giant waste of time."
You huffed at him in annoyance. “While he and I likely won’t make it beyond Hogwarts, I’d appreciate it if you’d at least respect our relationship for its duration,” you scolded.
“The only thing I respect about Larson is that he somehow managed to finesse the school’s most eligible bachelorette into dating him,” Sebastian quipped. You rolled your eyes and hit him with a sofa cushion. “But seriously, what do you see in him?”
“He’s… smart,” you replied, which merely provoked a menacing laugh from Sebastian.
“Smart,” he repeated blankly.
“And he’s creative,” you continued. “And handsome.”
“What exactly do the two of you even talk about?” Sebastian asked, leaning forward curiously. “I mean, you’re complete opposites. What do you have in common?”
He wasn’t wrong. Most students were quick to point out that you and Andrew were an unlikely pair when you began dating. But you were attracted to Andrew. He was tall and handsome with an assured smile and composure.
“Opposites attract,” you quipped. “Some balance is good every now and then.” You weren’t sure you actually believed that statement, but you were going to pretend for now.
That was six months ago and now, the inevitable end to your Hogwarts days was approaching. You and Andrew hadn’t discussed your future as a couple, but you weren’t in any rush to do so – especially since you hardly felt like a couple these days.
The upcoming N.E.W.T.s had taken priority for all seventh years. Even Sebastian had been spending an uncharacteristic amount of time studying in the Undercroft. The two of you both aspired to be curse breakers, but the most coveted positions – curse breaking for Gringotts – were limited to two.
You were a shoo-in for one of the spots, given your famed history and experience. All you needed to do was score high on your N.E.W.T.s, which you were confident you’d ace. Sebastian should have been a certain choice for Gringotts as well, but he couldn’t exactly reveal all of the research and hands-on experience he had gained while trying to reverse Anne’s curse during his fifth year without raising suspicion.
“Are you coming to the Slytherin victory party?” you finally asked Andrew, hoping your innocent upward gaze would soften his mood.
Instead, he blinked at you. “I’m a Ravenclaw,” he deadpanned.
The evening sky was growing darker, and you knew the celebration would be underway soon. The dinner hour in the Great Hall had nearly passed, but there would be a plethora of sweets and snacks to indulge in at the party. You were eager for an evening of frivolity with your friends, as you knew your time with them was limited.
“But you’re invited to the party if you’re with me,” you said hopefully. “You can come and stay just for a bit.”
“A Slytherin celebration has detention written all over it. I was hoping you’d join me on the Astronomy Tower instead.”
Normally, you’d die before missing a single second of a Slytherin party, especially one to celebrate a quidditch cup victory. But the party was sure to continue late into the night, meaning you’d likely have time to enjoy it later.
A trip to the Astronomy Tower was much more important now, not because you gave a flying fuck about stargazing, but because you could get laid.
It’d been weeks since Andrew had touched you, and you were becoming a restless, coiled, ticking time bomb. You were an 18-year-old with wants and needs, but your stupid boyfriend had been more concerned with his N.E.W.T.s than sex as of late.
The Astronomy Tower was a common spot for romantic rendezvous, particularly for students in separate houses. You and Andrew had frequented it much more at the start of your relationship until you introduced him to the privacy of the Room of Requirement, but some nostalgia for the sake of sex was too appealing to reject.
“That sounds nice,” you said carefully, your grip giving Andrew’s arm a gentle squeeze. “I’d love that.”
“Good,” Andrew said with a firm nod. “Shall we head there now?”
“Yes, please.” You allowed him to steer you from the quidditch stadium and back toward the castle. Clusters of students laughed and chattered around you, and you occasionally paused your route to the Astronomy Tower to discuss the events of the quidditch match with them.
As you stopped to say hello to Arthur Plummly, Andrew grunted in annoyance. He was clearly tired of waiting on you to finish socializing, so you merely waved to Arthur and continued to the Astronomy Wing. Perhaps Andrew was just as eager as you to relieve some year-end tension. The thought made heat rise through your body, flushing your cheeks.
The tower was quiet as most students were either celebrating Slytherin’s victory or licking their wounds in defeat. Once you reached the upper level and confirmed you and Andrew were alone, you grinned at him. You were already aching between your legs, desperate to be touched by someone other than yourself.
The air was much cooler at such a high point, the breeze drifting through the tower and its vacant telescopes. You shed your school robe and turned to Andrew to reach for his, gripping the front in earnest as you pulled him into a kiss. You kissed him hungrily as you stepped toward him, pressing your hips against his.
“What are you doing?” he demanded, craning his neck to break the kiss. You froze and rocked from your toes back down to your heels as you released his robes.
“What do you mean?” you asked stupidly. “I thought you wanted to-”
“No, not tonight, love.” His tone was gentle but you could see the irritation in his eyes. “I actually need to stargaze. I want to be sure I can identify Lyra in case it’s on the exam.”
You sucked on your top row of teeth to stop yourself from screaming in frustration.
“Can’t it wait, just a quick twenty minutes?” you asked.
“No, love. I’ve got to get this done.”
You knew there was no changing his mind, not that you wanted to at this point. The anticipation and desire you felt earlier had extinguished, now replaced by a sense of rejection.
“All right,” you sighed, stooping down to pick up your house robe. “I guess I’ll head to the party then. See you at breakfast?”
Andrew pressed a brief kiss to your cheek and smiled at you. “Goodnight, love.”
The trek down to the dungeons was cold and lonely. You weren’t used to rejection, but it had become a common occurrence from Andrew in recent weeks. It made you wonder if there was something wrong with you, that something had changed to make Andrew no longer lust after you.
You hadn’t changed much physically since the start of your seventh year. If anything, certain physical attributes had improved, at least in your opinion – and the opinion of the Hogwarts male population. Your chest had filled out nicely and your curves were more evident now. If Andrew no longer found you attractive, it surely wasn’t your fault, right?
You didn’t have long to brood, though. As you neared the entrance to the Slytherin Common Room, you could feel the pulse of music vibrating through the stone walls. You smirked to yourself, ready to forget about your vapid excuse for a boyfriend for the evening.
“There you are!” Sebastian spotted you instantly as you entered the Common Room.
“There you are!” you laughed as you took in his appearance. His hair was more tousled than ever and he was holding a bottle of firewhiskey in each hand.
“Where’ve you been?” he demanded as he ushered you further into the room. “Nevermind that. Let’s get you a drink. Who has the firewhiskey?” he called out.
“Sebastian,” you snorted. “You have it.”
“Oh. Right. Well let’s get you a glass then.”
One glass quickly turned into three, and you eventually lost count by the end of the night. Students from other houses came and went, and you enjoyed the presence of your friends and classmates.
Sebastian was the life of the party, per usual. He’d periodically disrupt the music and laughter to climb on top of a study table, his glass raised in a ridiculous toast.
“To Chinese chomping cabbages!” he declared during one toast.
“To Professor Ronen’s beard!” he said during another. Each toast was followed by a roar of agreement from the crowd, no matter how absurd, which Sebastian reveled in with glee.
You laughed through it all, especially when Ominis, who had been lurking in a corner of the Common Room as an innocent bystander, was pushed toward Imelda Reyes to dance. By their third dance, you could feel Sebastian looming behind you as he watched Ominis with delight.
“Someone ought to rescue him,” he said in your ear. “It’s not going to be me, but someone should eventually.”
“I don’t know, he seems to be enjoying himself,” you mused. “I think I’ll take a night off from saving our poor friend from social expectations.”
Sebastian snickered and sauntered off. Your eyes followed him as he stumbled toward the stairs. You followed after him, your own inebriation stalling you as you steadied yourself.
“Sebastian!” you called after him. He spun to peer down at you as he reached the top of the steps. “Where are you going?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” he called over his shoulder as he disappeared toward the dormitories. You scurried after him and watched as he slipped into his dorm room.
“Bailing on the party?” you asked as you shoved your way through the door. You’d been in that dorm numerous times, so the sight of unmade beds, cluttered desks and piles of books didn’t faze you as you sat on the bed next to Sebastian, who had flopped backward with his arms resting lazily behind his head.
“I’m tired,” he declared, his eyes watching you carefully. “In case you’ve forgotten, I’m a quidditch hero.”
You huffed a laugh. “I’m pretty sure Alice was the one who caught the snitch,” you pointed out.
“Ah, but she wouldn’t have reached it if it hadn’t been for my bludger,” Sebastian said proudly. You couldn’t argue with that. Instead, you rested back on your elbows, your legs dangling off the side of the bed.
Sebastian’s eyes fluttered shut and you studied him for a quiet moment. Your best friend was devilishly handsome. Though he maintained his boyish charm, he was certainly not the same kid you met at age fifteen. Now, Sebastian was tall and broad-shouldered, toned and sturdy, much more of a man than a boy.
“Want me to let you get some sleep?” you asked.
“No, stay. I’m just resting my eyes. I’ll get a second wind eventually.”
“Sebastian, it’s after midnight.”
“Time is a social construct,” came his quick reply. You snorted and shifted your gaze to the remainder of the room. You spotted Ominis’ bed, the only one neatly made, its curtains drawn shut. As you found yourself wondering what else went on in this room, you failed to notice Sebastian’s stare.
“So where were you anyway?”
You turned to look at Sebastian, who had one eye open.
“What do you mean?”
“You showed up late to the party.”
You heaved a sigh as the source of your less-than-ideal evening returned to the forefront of your mind. “I was with Andrew.”
“Ah. A quick little escapade before the party.”
“It wasn’t like that at all,” you said with a bitter laugh.
“Oh? It couldn’t have taken that long. You were late, but only by a half-hour or so.”
“Were you keeping track of time?”
“More like I was keeping track of you.”
You rolled your eyes. Sebastian, ever the protector. “Not that it’s any of your business,” you noted. “But we went up to the Astronomy Tower.”
Sebastian blinked in confusion. “But I thought you said you weren't hooking up.”
You groaned in annoyance. Though you and Sebastian were open books with one another, you didn’t feel very compelled to share the intimate details of your sex life – or lack thereof – with your best friend. Sure, you talked about sex, but the topic felt a bit more suggestive when you were alone on Sebastian's bed describing your own boyfriend's disinterest.
But the tension you’d been carrying for weeks was mounting, and before you could stop yourself, you said, “It wasn’t anything. Andrew and I haven’t… done that in weeks.”
That had Sebastian’s attention. His other eye popped open and he sat up, not bothering to mask his curious gaze.
“What do you mean?” he demanded.
“Do I really need to spell it out for you?”
“Yes.”
You exhaled slowly, averting your eyes to the dark wood floor. “Andrew hasn’t touched me in weeks.”
“And by touched, you mean…”
You whipped your body around, the sudden movement causing Sebastian to flinch as you stared directly into his eyes.
“My boyfriend. Won’t. Fuck me,” you said slowly and deliberately.
Sebastian gaped at you. It was clear he was at a loss for words, and if you hadn’t been the center of the discussion, you likely would have laughed at his dumbfounded expression.
“Well, what’s wrong with him?” Sebastian asked.
“He’s too focused on his N.E.W.T.s. He just wants to study constantly.”
“With all due respect, I’ve been pretty well focused on studying too,” Sebastian said. “But that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying myself.”
“Yeah well, that makes one of us,” you muttered.
“But you’ve… you’ve tried to- to fuck him, right?” Sebastian asked.
“Of course, I have!” you snapped, instantly horrified by your tense response. Your cheeks flushed in embarrassment.
Sebastian, however, flashed his canines in amusement. “Merlin, Larson really does have you worked into a tight little knot,” he mused.
“It’s not funny!” you groaned as you buried your face in your hands in misery.
"You’re right, it’s not,” Sebastian said, though you could still hear traces of a teasing tone in his voice.
“If you tell anyone about this, I’ll kill you faster than you killed Solomon,” you hissed.
Sebastian barked a laugh. “I promise to tell no one,” he said. “But you really ought to take care of your… unfortunate situation. All that sexual tension is turning you rather violent.”
“Don’t you think I’d do something if I could?”
“Well, have you, you know, taken care of it by yourself?”
“Sebastian,” you warned, warmth creeping up the back of your neck.
“I’m just saying. I doubt you’d let anyone else assist you. Use your hands.”
“These hands are going to strangle you if you don’t shut up.”
“I could only be so lucky.”
“Sebastian!”
“Why don’t you just break up with him?”
“What?”
“You said it yourself, it was just meant to be a teenage romance,” Sebastian reminded you. “But you’re an adult now. Maybe you need a more adultlike relationship with someone who’s a little more willing to satiate your adult needs.”
“Say adult one more fucking time.”
“Adult.” You threw a pillow at him and he chortled. “But seriously,” Sebastian continued. “Why are you still with him?”
“Because it’s complicated,” you sighed. “I really do care for him. I can’t break up with him just because we’ve hit a rough patch.”
“Rough patch? Darling, this is a full-blown pit of Venomous Tentacula.”
“Easy for you to say, considering you’ve never had a serious relationship in your entire life,” you sneered.
Sebastian merely shrugged. “No one worth the time and effort has become available to me,” he said.
“You’re hopeless.”
“Maybe. Maybe not. But I’m not the one refusing to fuck you because I’m fretting over some stupid exams.”
The mere notion of having sex with Sebastian made your stomach flip. He was the one boy who appeared wholly unaffected by your looks and charm, though the same could be said vice-versa.
You hid your attraction to Sebastian well, suppressed in a secret, dark place, deeper than any repository. The only time it ever surfaced was when you were alone in bed at night, your fingers relieving yourself while your mind fantasized over the one person you couldn’t have.
“Even if I did break up with him, I’d have to start all over,” you noted. “I’d have to find someone else to get me off.”
Sebastian let out a silly laugh that almost sounded like a giggle. “Darling, please,” he deadpanned. “Like you’d have any trouble finding someone to fuck you. You could step into the Common Room right now and there’d be a line out the door.”
“You make it sound like I’m the biggest tramp to trapeze through Hogwarts,” you muttered.
“No, that award goes to Imelda.”
“Besides, I’m sure everything will return to normal soon,” you continued, hoping your tone sounded more assured than miserable.
Sebastian eyed you quietly, which made you shift nervously on your spot on the side of the bed. The sexually charged conversation had you hot and bothered, suddenly eager to return to your own dorm room. “Hopefully, for your sake,” he finally yawned. “But Larson clearly doesn’t realize how ignorant he is. If it were me, you’d barely be able to walk anymore.”
“Sebastian!”
---
The spring air should have met your senses with peace and placidity. It was a week later and most of the Hogwarts student body was taking advantage of the weather.
Students were scattered across the castle and its outdoor areas; some lounged lazily in the courtyards while others stretched across the grass at the center of the quidditch pitch.
You wanted to join them, but for some abhorrent reason, you were currently sitting inside the library of all places. It was hot and stuffy in there, the scent of the books and their aging pages filling your nostrils when you should have been outside enjoying the scent of the blooming flowers or the handfuls of bubblegum you’d purchased from Honeyduke’s.
But no, you were presently leaning with your elbows on one of the library’s long tables, pouting as you watched Andrew study. The two of you were nearly the only ones in the entire place, save for a few of the more recluse and antisocial students who would probably disintegrate in the sunlight anyway.
Your gaze fell on one boy – you forgot his name – who was hours deep into a Potions book. He was thin and pale, and you couldn’t help but wonder if he was a vampire. The thought made you snort, which provoked a glare from Andrew.
You huffed a sigh as he returned to his reading. You studied him quietly and couldn’t help but smirk with lust.
Even though you were currently annoyed with him and his insistence on being a bookworm, he was so undoubtedly handsome. His sandy brown hair was parted to the side, his pretty green eyes darting across the lines of his Transfiguration book. His tall frame was currently hunched over the table, but when he sat back in his chair, his broad shoulders would rise and his long legs would stretch beneath the table.
Every so often, his brows would furrow as he mulled over the prose on the page, or he’d subconsciously chew at his bottom lip in an adorable way that made you want to climb him like a tree.
Watching him focus his attention on anything but you made you fidget and squirm. He still hadn’t touched you in weeks.
Of course, you understood that your Ravenclaw boyfriend was fixated on his studies. You took your education seriously, too, but you also recognized the importance of some self-care. A 20-minute study break to indulge in some sex wouldn’t kill you. Another day without it, however, just might.
You squeezed your thighs together, but the pressure only escalated the ache between them. You tried crossing and uncrossing your legs, but thoughts of something, anything, anyone between them were starting to consume you.
You decided to take matters into your own hands. Surely you could turn on the charm and tempt Andrew now, in the dimly lit ambience of the quiet library. Most boys in the school would die to be in his shoes. How could he possibly resist you after weeks of abstaining?
You leaned forward in your chair, your lips puffed out in a slight pout as you dipped your head just enough that you had to gaze upward at him with flirtatious eyes. You offered Andrew your best doe-eyed stare as you used the top of your foot to gently nudge his leg beneath the table.
He didn’t seem to notice at first, so you shifted in your seat to lean backward, puffing your chest out in hopes he’d be turned on by your breasts. The fabric of your blouse stretched taut over them, tightening as you stretched your shoulders. Your foot inched higher up his leg until you slowly dragged it downward again.
Still no response. It was absolutely maddening. Finally, you leaned forward again, your hand finding Andrew’s knee beneath the table. Your eyes swept the room to ensure Madam Scribner was nowhere in sight, your hand creeping up Andrew’s thigh until it met his groin. You slowly ran your palm over his crotch, hoping to stir his arousal.
Instead, he jerked his head up, the chair scraping loudly across the wood floor as he pushed backward from the table.
“What are you doing?” he hissed angrily.
You blinked in disbelief. Other boys would have finished in their own pants by now, but your own boyfriend couldn’t be bothered to even entertain your desires.
“Fine,” you said, pushing your own chair backward as you stood, your eyes narrowed at Andrew. “I’ll just have to take matters into my own hands. Or someone else’s.”
“What does that mean?” Andrew demanded. Your voices were rising and others were looking on in annoyance at the interruption.
“It means that if you aren’t going to fuck me, I’ll find someone who will,” you hissed bluntly. Andrew gaped at your lack of propriety, but you had no interest in pretending to be concerned for your image. “See you later.”
You stormed out of the library just as Madam Scribner surfaced to shush you. You rolled your eyes and continued on your way, making a beeline for the nearest castle exit.
Sunlight spilled across the Hogwarts grounds and you closed your eyes to appreciate its warmth. It spread across your skin, its heat exacerbating the fire that was ripping through your insides.
You weren’t actually on the hunt for the first male who would be willing to fuck. Even at your most feral, you had a little more dignity than that. You could relieve yourself of the tension in your core in private soon enough, but right now, you simply needed to get it all off your chest. You needed Sebastian.
But where was he?
He could be anywhere on a warm Saturday like this. Sometimes he liked to fly around the Highlands. Other times, he could be found socializing in the courtyard or in search of someone to duel… The Clock Tower. He had to be there.
You made a beeline for the Clock Tower Entrance and silently celebrated the familiar sight of Sebastian embattled in a friendly duel. You leaned against the archway as you watched him make quick work of Leander Prewett, ending the duel with a well-timed Expulso that sent Leander sprawling.
“Nice work,” you quipped as the duel ended and students began to disperse from the Clock Tower.
“Nothing to it,” Sebastian said as he pocketed his wand. He eyed your appearance and frowned. “What are you doing here? I thought you retired from Crossed Wands since no one could beat you?”
“Don’t fret, I’m still retired. I was looking for you.”
“At your service, darling. What’s up?”
You glanced around the room, where Lucan Brattleby was engaged in conversation with Nerida Roberts. “Not here,” you said. “Follow me.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
You led Sebastian by the hand inside the castle, your pace so quick he had to jog to keep up with you.
“Where are you going?” he demanded as you continued past the path to the Undercroft.
“Someplace private,” you answered simply.
“But the Under-”
“Someplace even more private.”
Finally, Sebastian understood. Besides Andrew, he was the only person you’d taken to the Room of Requirement, where the two of you occasionally brewed your own potions or provided Ominis with a break from your antics. You knew curiosity was clawing away at him, and your own impatience made you hasten your steps until you were at a full run.
Sebastian chased after you, question after question spilling from his mouth as he scrambled to keep up. It was all so ridiculous, you couldn’t help but laugh as you sprinted through the castle’s halls together until you reached the stairwell toward the Room of Requirement.
“Slow down!” Sebastian laughed as you continued up the stairs. Your legs burned by the time you reached the top, but you said nothing as you approached the Room of Requirement, its entrance making way for you per usual.
“Been a while since I’ve been in here,” Sebastian said as he gazed around the room. He followed you to the sofas tucked away in the side room, where he promptly sat down and made himself comfortable. You, however, continued to pace back and forth in front of him.
You felt like a fucking cat in heat. Your mind raced at the argument you’d just had with Andrew. Was that your breakup? You couldn’t even be sure, but you also couldn’t bring yourself to care. The fact that Andrew didn’t chase after you when you left the library spoke volumes. And the fact that all you wanted was to dig your nails into Sebastian’s back and scream his name was probably the clearest indication that your relationship was over.
“What’s wrong?” Sebastian asked, his eyes weighted with concern as he watched you pace.
“Andrew,” was the best answer you could provide.
Sebastian’s eyes darkened with a familiarity you’d learned to recognize over the past three years. It was a clash of protectiveness and vigilance. “What did he do?” he demanded.
“Nothing,” you breathed hastily in an attempt to keep him calm. The last thing you needed was your best friend to hex your boyfriend, even if he was your soon-to-be ex-boyfriend. “He just… we got into an argument in the library and I stormed out.”
“What were you arguing about?”
You hovered in front of a bookcase against the wall, unsure how to broach the subject. This was Sebastian, the boy who never judged you. He was your best friend and closest confidant. He had your back unconditionally and shared your darkest secrets. How could something as unprofound as sex be such a taboo topic?
“He still won’t have sex with me,” you finally blurted out. Sebastian’s eyes widened at your revelation. Sure, the two of you had just discussed it a week prior, but that was when you were both drunk, riding the high of a post-party haze. “I can’t take it anymore,” you continued. “It isn’t fair.”
Sebastian’s smirk returned and you made a silent vow to hex him into oblivion if he dared to laugh at you.
“You’re right, it isn’t fair,” he said sincerely. “Darling, please tell me you broke up with the sorry excuse of a lad.”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“I told him…” you huffed in embarrassment. “I told him if he wouldn’t fuck me, I’d find someone who would.”
The laughter that escaped Sebastian’s lips was borderline alarming. He hunched over and clutched his sides until he had to catch his breath.
“Merlin, you really are a horny little minx, aren’t you?” he grinned.
“It’s not funny!”
“You’re right, it’s not. Except-” he chuckled. “–Except it is rather comical to think about the hero of Hogwarts and the desire of every boy in the school stomping around and throwing a tantrum because her sad excuse of a boyfriend can’t make her come.”
Your eyes nearly popped out of your head from his audacity. “Sebastian!” you chided.
“Don’t get cross with me!” Sebastian said, throwing his hands up. “I would never leave you unsatisfied.”
You inhaled sharply through your nostrils. His words seemed to cloud overhead, daring you to take the bait. He sat back smugly, but you could see the uncertainty in his eyes as he waited for your reaction.
You swallowed in preparation. For nearly three years, the two of you had danced around the obvious; the whispers of “Will they or won’t they?” and the ceaseless rumors about all the things the two of you had or hadn’t done; the sexual tension that made you both straighten in your seats every time someone else dared to suggest you were more than friends; the anguishing questions you both never asked in fear of knowing the answers.
The truth was, the root of your sexual tension had very little to do with Andrew Larson. It had damn near everything to do with Sebastian Sallow.
Graduation was approaching and you had no idea what would become of your friendship. Sebastian and Ominis were set to move to London as roommates, and you had plans to do the same with Natsai. But adulthood would be different. You and Sebastian wouldn’t be a mere common room apart. And there’d be new people, new friends, new opportunities. The ache between your thighs was far deeper than the desire to know what it’d be like to be fucked by Sebastian Sallow; it was the desperate longing for a more permanent place in his life.
“Prove it,” you finally said, feigning confidence as you dared to look him in the eye.
Finally, you had managed to catch Sebastian off guard. All of these years of teasing banter and suggestive innuendo, and you finally had him pinned against a wall of astonishment. He hadn’t expected you to give in, especially in a way that managed to challenge him.
He gaped at you, a rare deviation from his typical air of self-assuredness. Your gaze remained fixated on him, cool yet inquisitive, ready to see if he’d put his money where his mouth is.
“Wait,” he finally said. “You… you really want to?”
“Why not? You’ve always been able to help me through every other trial and tribulation. Why not this one? Unless the rumors aren’t true.” You were toeing dangerous territory, teasing him while knowing damn well he’d gladly punish you for it.
“Oh, they’re true.” He couldn’t help himself. He always rose to a challenge, and you knew he’d rise to this one. But his eyes weren’t smug or even confident. They looked concerned. “So just to be sure,” he continued slowly. “You want me to… to fuck you.”
“Yes.” It was then that you realized how your chest had been heaving with every breath, a blend of nerves and lust you weren’t sure you’d overcome if you were denied again.
And to your absolute horror, Sebastian sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. It knocked the wind from you, causing the room to whirl as you searched your brain for an escape. But then Sebastian looked up at you again, and the sincerity in his eyes kept you rooted to the spot.
“Look,” he said after drawing a shaky breath. “I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I don’t spend every bit of my free time imagining what it’d be like to feel you absolutely and utterly fall apart beneath me. I spend a shameful amount of time thinking about you in ways that would positively make you want to hex me in the same way I’ve thought about hexing Larson. But you… you’re everything to me. I can’t lose you.”
What a day it had been. You entered the Room of Requirement prepared to beg your best friend to absolutely ruin you. Instead, he was confessing his love for you.
You couldn’t help but release a shaky laugh. It wasn’t the romantic declaration you wanted to respond with, but it was the most fitting and accurate reaction to such an idiotic situation.
“You mean to tell me,” you said slowly, your voice still wavering with disbelief, “That I could have been fucking you this entire time?”
It clearly wasn’t the response Sebastian had expected, because his eyes seemed to search you for confirmation, as if he was waiting for you to laugh or reveal the scene to be some kind of twisted prank. But when you maintained your serious gaze, he grinned in disbelief.
“I didn’t realize the feeling was mutual,” he said.
“Merlin, you fucking idiot,” you hissed. “Why didn’t you say something?”
“Oh, sure, because it would be that simple! I’d just waltz on up to you in the middle of dinner and tell you I’m in love with you,” Sebastian said incredulously. “Besides, you have a boyfriend anyway!”
“I wouldn’t have that boyfriend if you’d told me! Besides, you seem perfectly pleased to fuck every other girl in the school!”
“Only because I couldn’t have the one I wanted!” The absurdity of it all made you dizzy and Sebastian sat back on the sofa looking dazed. “So what are you going to do now?” he asked.
You didn’t need long to decide. It had clearly been a day for bold declarations and daring acts. Why not keep the trend going? You decided you were going to get what you wanted.
“I’m going to fuck you until I’m satisfied, and then I’m going to go break up with my boyfriend for good.”
Before you could give Sebastian a chance to overthink another damn thing, you were on him, your legs straddling him as you mounted his lap and greedily grasped at his necktie. Your first kiss was a stunning reflection of the two of you – passionate and unrefined, not to mention stubborn as you both refused to be the first to pull away.
Finally, you relented, panting as you paused to gaze at Sebastian. You couldn’t help but snort at how positively elated he looked.
“You’re a fucking idiot, you know that?” you laughed.
“Funny, you’re the one who seems so desperate to be fucked,” he replied smoothly. It made you even hornier.
“So be a man of your word then,” you whispered. Your lips crushed against his again and you couldn’t help but rock your hips, the feeling of his erection beneath you stealing the air from your lungs. You shifted so that you could feel his hard length against your clothed entrance and it made you whimper in desperation. The heat was overwhelming.
Sebastian smirked. “You’re absolutely done for, you know that, right?”
“Shut up.” You yanked at his tie for good measure, your fingers working to loosen the knot as your core remained pressed against the bulge in Sebastian’s pants. The way his breaths became ragged indicated he would be just as ruined as you by the time you left that room – if you ever left.
Sebastian’s sweater and shirt followed his tie as you addressed every stupid little button. By the time you reached the bottom, you huffed with annoyance that was short-lived once Sebastian was bare-chested beneath you. You’d seen him shirtless a handful of times, but never close enough to touch, and touch him you did.
Your palms skimmed his chest and torso as you demanded another kiss. You bit down gently on Sebastian’s bottom lip, stirring more arousal from him. Your own shirt didn’t stand a chance.
Buttons popped and sailed around you like confetti before your blouse was discarded on the marble floor. Sebastian’s eyes roamed the new view of flesh above him, but it was clearly not enough. His hands drifted to the clasp of your bra, which snapped apart with precision and joined your shirt on the floor.
“You’re so fucking perfect,” Sebastian hissed as he palmed your breasts. He reveled in the way they filled his hands, soft and full. “Tell me what you want.”
“You know what I want.”
“I want to hear it.”
“I want you to show me what I’ve been missing. I want you to give me the best fucking of my life.”
“Anything for you, darling.”
His hands roamed beneath the hem of your skirt and your breath hitched as you could feel his warm palms inching up your thighs. A single thumb dared to swipe across your entrance, which had soaked your panties ages ago.
The feeling made Sebastian’s breath hiss. “How did you get so wet?”
“How did you get so dense?”
Your banter was meant to be playful, but Sebastian and all his primal instincts viewed it as a challenge. Though he had every intention of showing you pleasure beyond your darkest dreams, he wasn’t going to give in without some teasing too.
“Calling me dense when you’re clearly dying to have me,” he tutted. “You’ve been awfully bold for someone who hasn’t been fucked for so long.”
His fingers worked their way through the side of your panties and he groaned as they were instantly coated by your wetness before they could even enter you. You whimpered as he dragged two fingers across your folds. “That’s what I thought,” Sebastian teased at your pitiful response to his touch.
He slipped a finger inside of you and you chewed your bottom lip at the sensation. You shifted forward, sending his finger deeper until you were desperate for more pressure.
“More,” you whined. Sebastian obliged. His middle finger joined his index and he used them to gently pump at your core, the base of his hand pressed against your clit. You were so damn sensitive already, you knew you’d unravel within moments.
“Like that?” Sebastian hummed. You nodded, too fixated on your aching cunt to offer a verbal response. Sebastian’s movements stopped. “I said, like that?” You whined in protest. “Fine. Guess you’ll have to do the work yourself.”
Sebastian’s fingers lingered inside you but held still, prompting you to rock against them. You lifted your hips and rocked downward, using his fingers in the way he’d hoped.
He licked his lips at the sight of you fucking yourself on his fingers, his pants strained impossibly tight over his arousal. But he waited patiently as you worked yourself over his hand, your walls clenching around his fingers to earn your release.
That tender spot of flesh inside of you pressed repeatedly against Sebastian’s fingertips, the pressure building as the sounds of your slickness exposed your sinful act.
“Oh, fuck,” you breathed as could feel the climax nearing, the peak edging to the surface of your walls until they pulsed with pleasure around Sebastian’s fingers. You moaned as you rode it out, grinding downward so that his fingers dug into your sensitive spot. Sebastian grunted as you flooded his hand, the sensation making his cock twitch with desire.
When your orgasm subsided, you slumped on top of Sebastian to catch your breath.
“Fucking hell,” he said as he examined his coated hand. “I’m never going to recover from this.”
The admission sparked renewed energy within you as you realized the two of you were just getting started. If Sebastian’s fingers could fuck you to completion, you were anxious to learn what his cock could do.
You rose begrudgingly to your feet to slip your skirt and ruined panties off, standing naked over Sebastian, whose erection looked painful inside his tented trousers, damp from your release.
“You’re a fucking vision,” he said as he studied your naked form, his arms outstretched as they rested over the back of the sofa.
You smirked and moved for his belt. He lifted his hips so that you could remove his pants, his boxers following suit, and you had to steel yourself at the full sight of him.
He was bigger than Andrew. You wondered if it would cause the uncomfortable pain you’d felt during your first time. You liked to think you’d had enough experience to become used to it, but your body wasn’t accustomed to accommodating anyone quite so large. The challenge of it all made your core throb with more desire.
You dropped to your knees and took Sebastian into your mouth before he could even think to protest. It was better than you’d dreamed of, smooth like velvet and far too big to fit in your entire mouth – not that you wouldn’t try.
“Fucking hell,” Sebastian hissed as his tip met the back of your throat. His hands balled in your hair and his eyes snapped shut. “This has to be heaven.”
“What makes you think you’re getting into heaven?” you asked, pausing to gaze upward at him with a smirk.
“Fine. If this is hell, I reckon I’ll be just fine.”
Your mouth returned to work and the room fell quiet except for the sound of your lips sharply sucking against his shaft. It made him shudder.
A sharp tug of your hair made you gasp as Sebastian pulled you off his cock. You whined in confusion, but he smirked.
“Let’s give that pretty little mouth of yours a break, love,” he said. “You’re going to need it once you start screaming.”
“But-”
Sebastian held your face in his hands, a loving gesture that juxtaposed the filthy acts you were performing. “If you were anyone else, darling, I’d gladly allow you to continue. But if you keep at it, I’m not going to be able to satisfy you for long. And I want as much time with you as possible.”
It was a vulnerable admission, especially from someone as confident and experienced as Sebastian. The notion that you could absolutely ruin him with your mere mouth made you drunk with power.
“Now,” Sebastian continued as he reached for your hand to tug you closer. You rose to your feet and he peered up at you with a dreamy gaze. “What can we do to relieve the neglect your imbecile of a boyfriend has created?”
A hundred different possibilities flashed through your mind as all of your fantasies clashed at once. You’d spent hours daydreaming of the different ways Sebastian would wreck you – positions that defied physics, vile phrases that insulted the English language, sensations that left your brain a pile of mush. You wanted it all, yet in this moment, you were wholly content to simply feel him in any way he’d allow. And given your mutual epiphanies earlier, there’d be plenty of future opportunities for you and Sebastian to exert your sexual tension.
“First,” you said, your voice husky as you straddled him again, lowering your entrance until it hovered just above his erect cock. The heat made his breath hitch. “I’m going to use you until I come all over your cock.” Sebastian nodded obediently. “And then, you’re going to pin me down and fuck me until every painting in this room has heard your name.”
Sebastian swallowed. “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“Then we’re both going to die happy, love.”
The decisive moment had arrived as you sank around Sebastian’s tip, slow and steady as the sensation of your folds gliding over his shaft made you hold your breath. Sebastian squeezed your hips in anticipation as he watched you descend far too slowly for his liking. His restraint had nearly disintegrated when you suddenly dropped downward the rest of the way in one quick and fluid motion, the tops of his thighs pressed against your ass. The sudden warmth that enveloped him made Sebastian groan.
“Unreal,” he gasped as you held still in his lap, willing your cunt to accommodate him more. You were gritting your teeth the entire time you stretched around him, exploring his size with determination.
“Fuck, Sebastian,” you whimpered. “You’re big.”
“Oh?” Sebastian chewed on his bottom lip as he smirked at you, though the rise and fall of his chest exposed his fragility. “And here I thought I’d have to measure up to that boyfriend of yours. Guess I easily fill his shoes.”
“And then some,” you moaned. You hadn’t even moved, but the mere feeling of Sebastian filling you entirely was enough to make your cunt threaten to contract. You dared to shift in his lap, leaning in closer to him. He sucked in a sharp breath of air.
“I can see why you were wound so tight now,” he said through gritted teeth.
“Good thing I have you to help me unwind then.” You lifted your hips until your cunt glided upward, hovering around Sebastian’s tip until you dipped downward again. The look on Sebastian’s face was almost as satisfying as the pressure that swelled inside of you.
His hands roamed to your breasts, cupping one in each hand as a thumb gently stroked each nipple. “I want to play with these while you come undone,” he said.
You picked up your pace, using the head of Sebastian’s cock to ignite friction against the sensitive spot deep inside of you. Soon, the sounds of your ass smacking against Sebastian’s thighs coursed through the room as you rose and slammed yourself downward repeatedly.
Sebastian was fighting sensory overload; the erotic sounds of your skin connecting, the sight of your breasts bouncing with every movement, the salty taste of your sweaty skin when he kissed your neck. It was too much, yet not nearly enough.
“M’close,” you moaned as you threw your head back, your eyes squeezed shut as you willed your body to comply. Sebastian’s eyes drifted downward to the place where you were connected. If his cock disappearing into your cunt was the last thing he saw before he died, he’d go willingly.
His thumb pressed against your clit, forcing your eyes to snap open in surprise. “Oh fuck,” you wailed. Your bottom lip was raw and red from the way you were chewing on it, desperate to release the tension coiled inside of you. A few more swipes of Sebastian’s thumb triggered it, your shriek echoing across the stone walls as you rocked forward, holding your hips downward in place as your walls clenched and shuddered around Sebastian’s cock.
Your breaths became short, pitchy gasps as you recovered, your body thoroughly exhausted as you clutched Sebastian’s shoulders for support. He sat with his head tilted backward against the back of the sofa, his eyes clamped shut from bracing himself through your orgasm. His lap now held a puddle of your release and he didn’t bother to hide his arousal from the vulgarity of it all.
Once you caught your breath enough to speak, you uttered a faint laugh. “I really hope this isn’t a dream I’m going to wake up from,” you said.
“I don’t know,” Sebastian mused, his hands rubbing gentle circles over the tops of your thighs as he gazed at you with fondness. “Personally, I’d stay and live in this dream forever if I could.”
He placed a featherlight kiss on your eyelashes and for a moment, you nearly forgot that you were currently wrapped around his twitching cock. But as Sebastian shifted uncomfortably beneath you, the pressure returned to your core.
“Now,” he said, his hands placed flat against the small of your back. “Let’s make sure you never think about that useless boyfriend ever again.”
He rose, lifting you from the sofa as you wrapped your legs around him for support. He couldn’t help but kiss you, his way of making it clear he was strong enough to hold you in such a position for future engagements. Once he placed you gently on your back, he crawled between your legs, resting back on his heels as he studied your form.
“You have no idea what you do to me,” he said as he gripped his own cock.
“Show me.”
He was on top of you instantly, one hand supporting his weight while the other guided his cock back to your entrance. He sank inside you again and groaned at the return of your warmth. No one else would ever compare to it and Sebastian was sure he wouldn’t want them anyway. Not when he now knew how it felt to have you entirely.
“One more time for me, love,” he said with a thrust of his hips. “You look positively stunning when you come.” You tightened your legs around him to signal your insatiable hunger.
“Harder,” you ordered. Sebastian would have been a fool to defy you, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t make you earn it.
His hand snapped to your wrists, pinning them above your head as he bucked his hips for emphasis. The motion rippled through your body, forcing a moan from your throat. “Say please.”
“Please,” you whimpered.
“With feeling.”
“Please.”
“You’re so pretty when you beg.” He pulled his cock out so that only the tip remained against your cunt, swiping it over your clit as he licked his lips at the moisture that clung to it. “So fucking wet for me, too.”
Before you could protest, he dipped his head between your legs to drag his tongue over your raw entrance. It plunged inside your folds and trailed to your clit, where Sebastian’s mouth gently sucked until you kicked your feet from the overwhelming sensitivity.
He slowly crawled back to meet your face, planting a swift kiss on your lips.
“I’m going to love you forever, you know that?”
“I do now,” you breathed. “And the feeling’s mutual. Now shut the fuck up.”
Sebastian pushed his cock back inside you with less restraint this time. It drove deep within your walls in repeated jabs, the sound of your bodies clapping together with each thrust.
The moans that fell from your lips sounded more like a howl as you clenched yourself around Sebastian’s cock in a frantic attempt to draw one more orgasm from it. He held a palm against your chest, pressing you downward into the sofa cushions as he rocked hard against you.
Andrew had never fucked you this hard and you knew you’d never recover from it. There was no returning from a frenzied fucking like this, especially when the only person you’d ever loved was responsible for it.
You cried Sebastian’s name as his cock pounded your cunt, fervidly coaxing your walls to release. You could feel them begin to spasm as they gripped Sebastian’s hard shaft until they finally convulsed, the pleasure eliciting a guttural cry from you. Your entire body responded this time, your back arching and legs quaking as the orgasm rippled through you until you were left squeezing your thighs together in an attempt to prolong its final flutters.
You were absolutely fucked out beyond ruin, and Sebastian’s reward surfaced quickly. The sight of you so drained, so satiated by your undoing, confirmed that he was entirely lost in you. He was yours now and he’d be damned if Andrew Larson or any other brainless oaf tried to claim you ever again.
“Fucking hell,” he choked as he continued to rail his cock inside your tired cunt. “Ready to be mine?”
You nodded, still aroused by the anticipation of Sebastian finishing inside of you. Another moan escaped your lips and Sebastian grunted, forcing his cock hard into you as he spurted his release. It painted your insides with warmth, signaling the end of your romp, Sebastian’s labored breaths marking the final moments of his climax.
Your eyelids were heavy as you became hyperaware of just how worn out your body was, but all of the tension you’d carried for the past few weeks was gone. You were relaxed now. Sebastian had certainly delivered on his promise.
When you let your eyes drift open again, you realized he was still above you, gazing at you with renewed affection.
“All right?” he asked. You offered him the prettiest smile you could manage.
“What do you think?”
“I think you ought to go break up with that boyfriend of yours.”
“Sebastian, you’re literally still inside me. Do you really think I’m concerned with anyone else right now?”
“Oh. Too right, you are.” He was lingering, and you weren’t sure if it was because he was tired or because he wanted to prolong the moment. Whatever the reason, you were in no rush to part from him. He seemed to be studying you, and you recognized the familiar tells that he was deep in thought, like his furrowed eyebrows and slight pout.
“Anything you care to share with the class?” you murmured.
“It’s just that… I mean, you and I-” Sebastian struggled for the right words. “This wasn’t a one-time thing, right?”
“I fucking hope not.”
“Good. Because you’ve absolutely ruined me for life.”
Finally, he drew backward and straightened, offering you a hand to help you to your feet. Your eyes fell to your crumpled shirt on the floor and you heaved a sigh. The buttons were gone, the threads that held them shredded and torn beyond Reparo.
“What the hell am I supposed to do with this?” you whined as you held the shirt up to show Sebastian the results of his impatience. He looked far too smug for your liking.
“Guess you’ll just have to wear mine,” he said with a shrug. He bent down to pick up his sweater and tossed it to you. “Too hot for me to be wearing this anyway.” You slipped it over your head, its large sleeves swallowing your arms, the initials “S.S.” embroidered in green over your left breast. It smelled like him – warm and woodsy. Though it was far too big for you, you decided you’d never give it back.
“I look ridiculous,” you huffed. Sebastian, however, beamed at you with pride.
“You look fucking sinful,” he declared, his grin revealing his glee.
Once you were both clothed, albeit visibly disheveled, you slipped from the Room of Requirement and descended the staircase.
“Hungry?” you asked Sebastian as you reached the lower level of the Astronomy Wing. He nodded but you frowned as he veered in the direction opposite the Great Hall. “Where are you going?” you asked as you clung to his arm.
Sebastian glanced sideways at you and smirked, taking in the sight of you in his oversized sweater, his initials marking his new territory.
“I believe we need to make a stop in the library first.”
