Défilé Diesel Black Gold Menswear Printemps/Été 2017

Pour le Printemps/Été 2017 le directeur artistique de chez Diesel Black Gold, Andreas Melbostad, s’est inspiré des photos en noir et blanc par Irving Penn rassemblées dans son livre “Small Trades”. Ce photographe a voyagé de Londres à Paris puis à New York. Ses photos sont des tenues que portaient des inconnus qu’il a pu croiser dans la rue. Une nouvelle fois c’est un défilé avec très peu de couleurs vives.

Diesel Black Gold Spring 2017 Collection 2.2 Fashion Review Assignment: I decided to review the Spring 2017 Ready-To-Wear: Diesel Black Gold Collection. Usually Diesel’s collections obtains a dark, tough, edgy mood that consists of ripped jeans, studded everything, and baggy clothing. However, Diesel Black Gold’s creative director, Andreas Melbostad, decided to create a different atmosphere this year for Spring 2017. Although Diesel went for a romantic, calm, neutral theme this spring, they still incorporated their usual style into the collection. Melbostad brings together sweetness and toughness to create an unlikely duo that complements each other. This season consists of a variety of styles you would not expect from Diesel Black Gold such as short baby doll dresses with lace, a palette of nudes, sand, ivory, and olive greens and mini skirts paired with field parkas and military-inspired oversized jackets. What I enjoy about this collection is that Diesel decided to create a line that is out of their comfort zone. They created outfits they usually would not design and included their own touch to it. I really like how they pair the cropped v-neckline tank top with fitted high waisted khaki pants/skirts. I also enjoy the clear lace and ruffle accents on the dresses. The dresses are loose but fitted at the natural waist which creates a flattering look and draws attention to the waistline while still obtains the relaxed, laid back feel. The dresses also have a blue floral pattern which is accompanied by a sleeveless black button down shirt and black laced up knee high boots. This creates a tough but feminine look. Most of the shoes in this collections all have the same type of lace up design which goes well with the flirty, preppy outfits. Overall the Diesel Black Gold Spring 2017 collection is a fresh new look for this upcoming season. Try out something new this 2017.

Diesel Black Gold #AW1617 Milan. Andreas Melbostad is a solid, competent designer. His work as creative director has served Diesel Black Gold well, rebuilding its foundations, putting it on a sure footing, and conveying a compact message. Born in Norway, his sensibility has a natural Nordic bent, and he has streamlined Diesel BG’s language accordingly, adding a touch of restraint and finesse to the brand’s emotional language. For Fall, he drew inspiration from the the look of bike messengers. “I live in New York and they’re such a distinctive element of the landscape; their look is so iconic,” he said backstage. During his research he found a photo book from the ’90s of messengers’ portraits taken on a white background; the pictures highlighted their renegade, rebellious individuality. The collection had a utilitarian feel, built on oversize proportions for a powerful impact. Layering added thickness and volume, bolstering the protection factor. The house’s staples—parkas, bikers, field jackets, bombers, and military vests—were reworked with a sharp sensibility, resulting in a strong, yet functional silhouette with a techno vibe. Zippers, pockets, straps, detachable quilted linings, and harnesses of the practical variety abounded. Ultra-slim pants were worn with quilted shorts, in true messenger fashion. Hybrid outerwear made for one of the most interesting proposals of the lineup, as in a great parka-cape number that had an appealing allure. Who says that utility cannot be married to elegance? Certainly Melbostad knows his way around it. Yet Diesel is also a bit of a boisterous, passionate character: Who says that elegance cannot be a bit raucous too?
