Postmodernism seeks to challenge everything that is known to be ‘art’, and destroy it.
There is no confinement to the old ways of producing art. Traditional boundaries and restrictions are meaningless in the face of this new wave of aesthetic expression. In a way, postmodernism is about recycling the previously held notions of defining art, and creating something new out of it.
After all, civilization has been developing for quite some time now. At certain points in history, the poets and painters of the age are bound to hit a plateau. And eventually, if you care about entropy, all that will ever be created, will be created. And one day, there will be nothing left to make, because it will already be done and buried. Postmodernism postpones this from happening by re-using old media, themes and methods to create something new out of the past.
Nostalgia is often a strong theme in the postmodern world. With all this digging through the past and using our memories for inspiration, I dream of a future that will never come to pass, one that is saturated in nostalgia and emotive scenes using vibrant colors that pull at the heartstrings. Forever reminding us of a time when things were easier, quieter, and technology wasn't quite as ubiquitous. A world where science had big hopes and dreams, but it had not yet taken over every aspect of our daily lives. Trying my best to capture the feeling one feels as they wake up: these fleeting and precious moments preceding dawn, as you are about to wake from a dream, but are still building it in the collective subconscious.
