Movie Reviews:
Reno: **Nothing is greater than to have a supportive life partner by side.**
I follow closely what films are announced and what are getting released. Sometimes its common that some films comes out without my knowledge, particularly non-Hollywood English language films. This British film was about a wealthy couple from the New York, especially the husband who tries his best to fulfill his seriously ill wife’s dream to be an opera singer. The problem is she’s not any good. Not just him, but everybody who is close to them and once laughed at her, try to understand them and give their support. But not all the occasion seems to remain the same. So on one such a big event, the disaster strikes and how it affects the couple is the rest of the tale to disclose.
A very surprising film. I thought it was just a comedy like it brings small smiles on our face, but I laughed out loud on many occasions. This is definitely a right time, because I felt like it was a music and cinematic version of the American presidential candidate Don Trump. Yep, there not much difference, but still this ...
Summary: Thinking that her and Dean are exclusive, the Reader is proved wrong when Dean tells another hunter that they are only friends…
Warnings: The tiniest bit of fluff (and I seriously mean tiny). some serious ANGST. No happy ending. Arguing. Language. Crying. Lots of crying…
Word Counts: 1,682
Pairing: Dean x Reader, Former Dean x Reader
PROMPT: Is that all I am to you?
A/N: This is for the @jawritter 1500 Follower Challenge - Jen’s Make Me Cry Challenge - here’s the masterlist to it.
MAIN MASTERLIST ~ SERIES MASTERLIST ~ ONESHOT MASTERLIST
Four years. Four years that I have known Dean Winchester. Two years that we have been dating. At first it started out as a friends with benefits thing, which I was completely fine with if it meant I could spend time with Dean. But then it started to get serious, he started to take me on dates. We’d go to restaurants - just me and him, go play crazy golf, go on walks, stuff that couples would do.
A year down the line of the relationship, Dean gives me space in his room for clothes. Not that it really mattered if I had a drawer or not in his room considering my room was only down the hall. But most of the time I would sleep in his room, with his arms protectively wrapped around me as we slept.
Even Sam believed we were dating, it felt like we were dating - like it was all real. But I was so wrong, that I didn’t even realise that everything Dean had ever promised me was a lie. I should have seen it coming. Like come on, it’s Dean freaking Winchester. The one who gets around with all the women, never settling down, never dating anyone because it would have the worst outcome.
How couldn’t I have seen this? Why couldn’t I have stopped myself from falling for his charm years ago? I feel so naive and gullible. I know now that I can’t ever believe anything that man says. Ever again.
I have to leave, I have to get out of here.
5 Hours Earlier…
Meeting Sam at the bar, Dean and I walk in with his arm “possessively” wrapped around my waist, warding off any guys that would even think to get close to me. Sam sat in one of the corner booths of the bar far away from anyone. To everyone it looked like we were together, technically we were.
Joining Sam at the table, I was sat next to Dean leaning my head on his shoulder while he had one of his arms wrapped around mine. It was so clear to everyone that we were more than just friends. The lingering touches, the featherlight kisses on the forehead. Even the way he looked at me suggested that there was more than friendship. For the first time in a long time, there were no girls even attempting to flirtatiously glance his way. They knew he was taken. They didn’t even try to come over to get his attention, they knew they wouldn’t get it.
“Any new cases, Sammy?” Dean asked, as he grabbed onto one of the many beer bottles that was brought over to them, taking a large gulp of it.
“Man, I’ve looked but nothing so far, a whole bunch of others have taken cases and there’s just nothing at the moment.”
“Do they need any help?” Dean asked, clearly needing something to keep him occupied but Sam quickly shook his head.
“I’ve already asked, but you know what hunters are like, they’ve got their own partners to help them and they don’t need three extra hunters. But I’ll keep looking for cases, I guess we can just take this time off that we never get round to having.” Sam explained, lifting his own beer to drink, his eyes scanning the bar before noticing someone staring at them. “Hey, we’re being watched.”
“What… by who?”
“Don’t know, I’ve never seen him before, he’s just intensely looking at us from the bar.” I turn around to see the man sitting at the bar. Once he see’s me looking at him, he smiles. Gasping I realise who it is. “Y/n, you know who that is?”
“Yeah… my ex.” Shifting uncomfortably in his seat, Dean slightly turns to see the guy who is staring at you.
“Bad ending?” Sam asked with concern, his eyes shifting from you to your ex and then to Dean.
“Not really. He’s not… a hunter. And it was a long time ago.” You started to explain to the boys.
“Are you going to go over?” Dean asked, masking his emotions with a straight face.
“Should I?” Looking up at him, trying to get a read on him but failing miserably.
Gulping, Dean looked from you to your ex before looking back at you. “Y/n, he’s clearly here to see you. You should go over there.”
“But I’m here with you guys… It’s fine, really. I’m with you. I have no reason to see him. It didn’t end well last time I saw him, which was when we broke up.”
“Did he know about the hunting life?”
“Yeah, that’s the main reason we broke it off.” I lie easily, not really wanting to explain my past.
“Maybe he’s trying to get you back, maybe he’s ok with you being a hunter.”
“Dean! I’m with you, I don’t need to go back with my ex… I’m already taken.”
“Yeah but we’re not really together, together…”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You raise your voice slightly, hoping this isn’t where it’s really going.
“Dean, st-“ Sam started to say before Dean interrupted him.
“We’re only friends with benefits.”
“So, what two years of being together - friends with benefits or not, and not once id you think that with all your actions showed that this was more than friends with benefits. You don’t take a friend with benefits on dates. Let me guess in all of this whole ‘friends with benefits’ thing, you’ve been seeing other people haven’t you?”
“Y/n…I’m sorry that you thought there was more to this-“
“No. What you did was lead me on. I’m going back to the bunker.” Getting up from my seat, I quickly grab my stuff before heading out towards the door. My ex immediately heading towards me, and I couldn’t even stop the eye roll from forming.
“Hey, Y/n. It’s been a while.” He stops in front of me, blocking me from the exit and now i’m suddenly remembering why we broke up in the first place. Anyone would think that we broke up because I was in the hunting life and he was not, something normal. But no, this cheating bastard thinks he has the audacity to think we will pick things up where it was left.
“Yeah, I guess. How’s Amanda?”
“Andrea, was her name.”
“OH right, that so silly of me to get the name mixed up of the girl you threw me away for.” I said bitterly, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Y/n, at the time we weren’t really together.” You could just feel like your brain wanted to explode at that very second, what was with men and not telling you what the relationship status was. Was it that hard to talk for them to talk to me? And why did I have such bad luck with men!?
“Yeah, I remember, I remember you so clearly saying that as you were banging that chick in our bedroom of the house we brought together!”
“Y/n…” He started to say grabbing my arm slightly to pull me towards him, before I so rudely pushed it away. “Don’t be like this. Remember all the fun we had together.”
“No. I don’t. Now if you excuse me, I have to leave. I’ve dealt with dickheads all evening.”
“Hey, don’t go. Come on, catch up with me.”
“No. I’m not going down that path again. What happened between me and you is now over. It’s been over for years.” Clearly not getting the message, he pulls me roughly towards him, before I kick him in the balls. I didn’t even realise one of the Winchester boys were behind me before Sam pulled me back away from my dick of an ex-boyfriend.
“Hey, she clearly said no. So leave her alone.” Sam defended, a glare placed on his face, I turned slightly to see where Dean was but seeing him at the other end of the bar chatting up a chick just made my blood boil. Here I was clearly struggling to get rid of my ex and he’s over there throwing what little we had left away like trash. From this moment I knew it was over. I knew we would never be together. And I knew I had to leave for good. No more would I fall for men like him.
I could feel my eyes tearing up, blinking rapidly to hold them back from falling. My ex now left the area of the bar as Sam watched me with concern. “I’m going back to the bunker.”
“Do you want me to come with you?”
“No, I’ll be fine. I’m just going to get some sleep.”
“Ok…just call me to let me know you got back ok.”
“Of course.” Lying through my teeth as I give Sam a quick hug. With him never realising that this would be the last time he would see me. I leave the bar quickly heading back to place which will no longer be my home.
After 5 hours I had packed my things, grabbed anything and everything I had in Dean’s room and my old room to put into my car. My old car was sitting in the garage, where it had been left since the day I moved in here. I never really needed it when I had moved in, I couldn’t help the tears that fell down my face as I realise how much I will miss this place. The memories that I thought were good now turned to ash and dust.
I will move on from Dean Winchester. Sitting behind the wheel just made it all too real as Dean will never know how much I loved him but I have to leave, I can’t stay here knowing that he will never fully be with me not after everything that I now know. He’ll never know what he truly missed out on, holding a hand to my flat stomach, the life that was slowly growing inside of me. Dean will never know that he would have a child. Because he will never find me. Not ever again.
IF YOUR NAME IS CROSSED OUT IT MEANS I CANNOT TAG YOU FOR SOME REASON. ALSO FEEDBACK IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

The talk with his parents had been… hard. But in the end, they understood Richie’s craving to learn more about himself and his family. Andrea mentioned how dear of a friend Maggie was and how she’ll be over the moon to see her son again. That’s when it hit Richie that he would be meeting his biological parents…
At that moment he looked at Andrea and Donald. They were his real parents, and nothing would change that.
Telling his parents, and Stan, that was one thing. Stan didn’t seem too surprised since he’s known Richie all his life. He’s grown used to Richie’s constant state of curiosity and demanding nature when it came to answers. So when Stan found Richie awkwardly loitering in the hallway, filled with anxiety about telling Stan the news, Stan simply wrapped Richie up in a hug and told him how he supported him no matter what he chose.
Yeah, telling the Losers was a different story.
~
Eddie’s mind was still trying to wrap around the information that Richie had just told them. I’m going to find my parents in The Dragon Lands. Everyone, except Eddie, gave different responses from “Wait really?!” to, “That’s so cool but I’m gonna miss you”. Eddie couldn’t get a single word out of his mouth.
They were all at the diner when Richie told them the news. Bill had just won yet another milkshake contest and Richie had ordered a second milkshake as he claimed “Cause I don’t know when Imma be getting myself another one of these!” he chimed in as he held up his cup.
The rest of The Losers followed suit, lifting up their cups towards the center of their semi-circle table. “To The Losers,” he proclaimed. “To the Losers,” they all cheered, but Eddie’s voice was just a little bit quieter than the rest of theirs…
Bill and Stan went off to the bathroom while Bev and Richie left to go smoke. Leaving Ben, Mike, and Eddie alone at the table while they finished their meals. Eddie kept his eyes on the half-eaten burger that laid before him, releasing yet another sigh. It caused Mike to pipe up, “Eddie you’ve sighed about 45- It was 45 right?” he nodded at Ben.
Ben pondered about it for a second then responded, “No… I counted 53.”
“Yeah, 53 times you’ve sighed and that’s only since we entered the diner,” Mike stated, but then his lips curled into a smirk, “I don’t even wanna think about how many times you’ve sighed today-”
“What’s your fucking point?” Eddie snapped.
Mike immediately shot back, not in an aggressive way but in his ‘This is important and I’m concerned’ friend way. “Eddie we’re worried!”
“Yeah you’ve been really distant today,” Ben pointed out, sympathy laced his voice.
“Oh… Sorry if my sighing ruined your day” Eddie rolled his eyes, put his elbow on the table, leaned on his hand, and looked away from them. “Mine has been pretty shitty,” He almost whispered.
That was all Mike needed to prove his point, “It’s Richie isn’t it? Cause he’s-”
“Don’t, okay? Fuck that’s all we’ve talked about since we heard the news. My boyfriend is leaving, fucking great alright, fan-fricken-tastic,” Eddie groaned, his heart twisting within his chest at the thought of Richie leaving.
Ben and Mike exchanged a glance. Without saying a word they both could tell they had to try to help Eddie. They both shuffled a little closer to Eddie, one on either side.
Ben spoke first, “I don’t even wanna begin to imagine what you’re going through-”
“Then don’t fucking try ‘cause it sucks,” Eddie fumed, his fingers curling into fists with all of his pent up anger.
“Let me finish,” Ben’s tone stayed the same, calm, supportive. “Just try and see it through Richie’s eyes. His entire life he’s been kept in the dark, he had to figure out all of his dragon side on his own. Do you know how hard that must’ve been for him? Being the only dragon born in the entire city probably. What if you were the only elf? Hmm?” He hummed in questioning. “Eddie, Richie doesn’t know how to fly, and he’s a dragon. He doesn’t even know how to control these new powers or whatever they are,” Ben pointed out.
Eddie’s heart twisted at that, his expression turning from anger to sadness.
“And now he finds out he’s a prince, of a whole kingdom. Of course he’s gonna wanna go back. How do we expect him to keep living his life in the dark when he has the chance to be in the light?” Ben paused when Eddie looked turned to look at him.
Mike continued, “He’s not leaving forever either, it’s Richie! He’ll be back, you of all should know how much of a pain in the ass he is to get rid of.”
That made Eddie chuckle, “Yeah, he is a pain in my ass,” he agreed.
“Did someone say my name?” Richie had a shit-eating grin plastered over his face as he approached the table with Bev in tow.
“Ah speak of the devil,” Eddie’s gut untwisted when he smiled up at Richie. Ben had slid out of the booth to talk to Beverly so Eddie sat on the edge and looked up at Richie.
Richie leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Eddie’s shoulders. He bent down and pressed his forehead on top of Eddie’s soft hair. After a moment passed he lifted his head up to look at Eddie, “Let’s do something tonight. I want one last night with my Eds.”
“Yeah of course- where?” Eddie asked.
Richie smirked, “I know a place.”
~
“Your roof? This is the place you want to take me on our last night together?!” Eddie whisper shouted at Richie who was standing outside his bedroom window, on the roof.
“Oh come on Eds! It’s sentimental,” Richie insisted.
“How the fuck is it-“
“What was it, 9, 10 years ago we came to this very spot when you guys came over for a sleepover! It was the first time I ever opened up to someone about constellations, and Lyra,” Richie’s voice grew serious as he recalled the memory.
Eddie stopped in his tracks, a wave of memories came back to him. “Oh…” his voice trailed off, “You’re right,” he realized.
Richie hummed, “yeah I know,” he flashed Eddie a half-smile. Richie reached his hands out, through the window and towards Eddie.
The elf glanced away but soon held his hands up to meet Richie’s. He allowed the dragon to lead him out of the room and onto the roof.
The lovers got comfortable on the roof. They cuddled up against each other, knowing that they won’t have that many chances to do this again before Richie left. The dragon had curled himself up into a ball, both of his arms were wrapped around Eddie’s torso with his head buried inside his chest.
Eddie had his cheek resting on top of Richie’s head, his legs all tangled up with the others with his arms wrapped around his chest.
Richie slowly lifted his head from Eddie's chest so he was able to look up at his boyfriend, “This isn't the end… You know that, right?” he asked quietly.
Eddie's eyes hardened as he remembered the hard truth of their reality, “Then why does it feel like it,” he said in a grim ton.
“Eds… You know I'd never abandon you, right?” Richie gasped when Eddie hesitated, “come on! We're Richie and Eddie, best pals, partners in crime, Losers and Lovers,” Richie tilted his head up and softly kissed Eddie's lips, “You know you mean the world to me, right? I'd go to the moon and still always come back to you,” he cooed.
Eddie chuckled, “You do like the moon,” he pointed out with a smirk as he kissed Richie back. “Write every day,” he softly demanded.
“My thoughts exactly. This won't be forever, I just need answers,” Richie whispered and kissed his boyfriend again.
~
He said he would only be gone a week or so, but for some reason, it felt different. They felt as if by Richie discovering his other side, he'd forget the side he always had. In the end, they wanted the best for him, and if that meant leaving them, then so be it. But he was still leaving nonetheless, and the Losers couldn't let him leave without a party.
“SURPRISE!” The 6 Losers exclaimed the moment Richie got down the ladder to the clubhouse.
Richie nearly leaped out of his own skin. “AH!” He screeched. “Jesus you scared the fucking scales off of me,” he sighed, catching his breath.
“What did you think we’d let you leave without a celebration?” Mike asked as he clapped a hand on Richie’s back.
“Yeah, we had to have one last splash with all seven of us,” Ben chimed in with a smile.
Richie’s heart warmed at the gesture, “Aw guys…” Richie sighed with love, “but you know I won’t be gone forever right?” Richie arched an eyebrow. His heart almost ached and how easily his friends thought he’d abandon them.
“But s-st-still! We wanted to wi-wish you good luck,” Bill chimed in.
“Yeah plus- when was the last time we threw a good party-?” Beverly asked. She was met by cricket sounds in the silence of the clubhouse, “Exactly!” She exclaimed, “So let’s just have a good fucking time,” she nodded.
~
And a good time they had.
Ben played one of his classic well picked playlists on the speakers of his boombox while the Losers ate their feelings away with the large assortment of food they all brought. They played cards and board games, traded stories and gossiped.
Richie and Beverly had stepped out for a smoke break when Bill called Beverly back inside. “Be right back,” She informed Richie before she climbed back down into the clubhouse.
“I’ll be here” Richie waved his half done cigarette as her red head disappeared. When he was finally left alone with his own thoughts, everything finally set in.
I’m leaving tomorrow, leaving The Losers, to go to the Dragon Lands, to find my birth parents…
He was snapped out of his thoughts when- “Hey Rich, come back down for a sec!” Ben called, his eyes poking out from the entrance to the clubhouse.
“Coming,” Richie called out. He dropped his cigarette butt onto the ground and smooshed it with the toe of his shoe, in hopes of not starting a forest fire. Then he made his way over to the open trap door of the Clubhouse and began his descent.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to present to you Richard Toizer-” Mike announced the moment Richie stepped onto the floor. “- The Prince of the Losers,” he declared.
Richie’s eyes went wide, he realized that the Losers were lining the entrance with big smiles as they all bowed down to him. He was momentarily shocked before he realized what was happening and of course he had to play along. “Oh yes! Thank you my loyal subjects for this kind greeting,” Richie waved in his best (worst) British accent.
When they all stood up again, Stanley stepped out of line to go retrieve something from his bag in the corner. When he returned he held one of those classic gold crowns you can buy from your local dollar store. The fake blue and red gems shined as Stanley straightened up.
“And he wouldn’t be a prince without his crown,” when he finally lifted his eyes, they were glossy as he held back tears. “Your Highness,” He said. The thought of Richie leaving caused his voice to become quieter than it had been.
Richie’s heart clenched at the sight of his brother, on the verge of tears, something that was very unlike Stan. Richie slowly approached Stan, tilting his head down once he stood in front of his brother.
Stan inhaled sharply, his hands shook lightly as they raised the crown up and carefully placed it upon Richie’s mess of dark curls.
When the crown was in place, Richie raised his head to meet Stan’s gaze, “How do I look?” He flashed his (slightly crooked) pearly whites.
“You look great, Rich,” Stan gave him a small, warm smile before he announced, “Your Prince, Richie, The Prince of The Losers.”

Wow this is a lot shorter than I thought it'd be. But it is what it is, and I'm tired so it's gonna be a shorter chapter. Next chapter is gonna be an emotional one though so get ready!
Even this authors note is gonna be short cause that's all from me,
Breakfast at 8 3/4 – Read a little French – Went out at about 10 1/2 for 1/2 hour, and took Cordingley with me to see if Madame Romatier had any dresses finished for me to look at – No! But will have tomorrow – At 11 we were all to set off to the fête, or fair, or rather feast of Saint Germain held 2 miles from the town, in the forest close to a nunnery or school –
It was 11 1/2 before we were all off – Mr. and Mrs. Brande, Mrs. and Miss Mackenzie, Mrs. and Miss Barlow, Miss Richardson of Chichester an elderly lady, our 2 gents, Mr. John Barring Short (from Exeter, it seems), Mr. Franks (has a place somewhere near Cork, has been his own master, was since 15 and, if not in joke, aetatis now 24), Monsieur and Madame de Boyve, myself in 2 carriages and a cabriolet – At first very dusty – Then a few drops of rain – There being 5 in our carriages rather too small, I could see nothing –
Stopt to see Malmaison – The prince (Eugene Beauharnais) died a year ago, and the place is kept very neat by the gardners of his son, quite a boy – Shewn over the house – upstairs too – The bedroom (we saw 3) low – The state room and bed hung with crimson damask and gold fringe – Another room with satin, while I should think originally very light blue or pink – Another with white calico, or was also the battle room where Napoleon used to sit for hours and drink his coffee – Strolled about the gardens and hot-houses lastly lost 1/2 our party for 1/4 hour, and not off from Mamaison till 3 1/4 –
It was very nearly to when we had passed thro’ Germain, and got 2 miles into the forest to the site of the fete – Here we found we had lost Mrs. Barlow, who had come in a fiacre with Monsieur de Boyve – Mr. de B– [Boyve] had left her with Mr. St. Auban for a while, and could not find them afterwards – till it was 6, before we squatted down on our carriage-cushions to the cold dinner we had brought with us, spread out on the ground under the trees –
After dinner we walked about among the booths – As it became dark, the lighted lamps among the trees had a pretty effect – Yesterday was the vulgar day (being Sunday) all the common people there – Today a few (many) genteel people, were said to be among the crowd, this being considered the best to genteelest fete in the neighborhood of Paris –
Mr. Brande supposed about 20000 people there – 2 good bards played quadrilles, one for the higher orders, in an inclosure under the trees for admittance to which, we paid 5 sols each, – The other for the peasants – Among the former, we noticed some genteel looking persons, a few English among them – Among the higher orders it is now the fashion (see the English have been so much here) not to dance too well – Before, each lady and gentleman danced as well as an operatic dancer and thought of, studied little else than this, and dress –
Mr. and Mrs. Brande wishing to be off early in the morning on their tour to Germany, they and the rest of the rest of the party left Madame de B– [Boyve] and Messers Short and Frank to myself to see the spectacles (shews) – Madame de B– [Boyve] delights in these things; and I, for her sake and novelty’s, made no objection –
There was a circus, horse-riding balancing, etc. but this, we thought, would keep us too long – Saw the cheval savant, a wise horse which told the oldest, youngest, la plus amoureuse, etc. etc. of the party – Then we had a little slight of hand and electricity, but the people let go before the shock came round, and all this for 2 sols each –
Then we saw for 2 solidis also, each person, a sort of puppet-shew marionettes representation of the life of our savior – His birth, being found in the temple with the Jewish doctors, his condemnation, death, resurrection and ascension – The man who shewed it drawled out the explanation as he would have done that of any other puppet-show; and the people looked, and seemed as interested, as they might have been at the life and adventures of Tom Thumb –
To us Protestants these things seem blasphemous; to French Roman Catholics they are bien bon – Then for 2 solidis, also each, we saw the marionettes perform Les Brigands – We then walked about, among the people and tents and booths, ate some grapes at one of the latter and sauntered about till 10 – Then got into our carriage, and set off home –
3 hours in coming, and got back at 1 – Had a cup of tea and glass of wine and water and then came up to bed – In bed in 3/4 hour – Found Cordingley had been ill all the day with severe pain in her bowels, owing, doubtless, as is common enough, to the change of climate –
A few drops of rain as we went this morning, otherwise very fine day. Cooler than yesterday, not much sun, and a fine air – A beautiful evening –

Vue du château de Malmaison (façade sur le parc) by Pierre-Joseph Petit
The Château de Malmaison is near the western bank of the Seine about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) west of the centre of Paris in Rueil-Malmaison. Formerly the residence of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais, along with the Tuileries it was the headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802, and Napoleon's last residence in France at the end of the Hundred Days in 1815.

The ‘English’ garden at Malmaison by Auguste-Siméon Garneray
In the 14th century, the creation of the University, in the nearby Latin Quarter, started to threaten the so-far unquestioned power of the Saint-Germain Abbey. The Abbey then agreed to the yearly Saint-Germain Fair settling onto its grounds, thus contributing to the national visibility and notoriety of the Abbey.

The Goddess trio is a group of three women; Thea Sinclair (goddess of the celestial & the hunt), Claire Hartfeild (goddess of death & love) and Andrea St Booth (goddess of art & worship)
While these three aren’t gods per se, (mainly because god is dead) but, rather, beings of such power, that, they could be put up against a god.
If you take a deeper look into the trio, you will discover that they all had some kind of prowess before gaining their “god” status. For example, Claire, she had the universe strand in her system, giving her an advantage in combat. Or Andrea, using their incredible aim in ranged combat.
Thea, in particular has caught our eye. She was the most recent addition to the “Pangea Trio” and barely anything is known of her. However she is a contender for the most powerful, being the “goddess” of the celestial, having control over the moons phases, the formation of constellations or the day-night cycle. On the other hand, being of Diamandis, her agility and strength have also been of note, giving her the title of “Goddess of the Hunt”, being able to scout people out from miles away, having the ability to reach incredible speeds on her wheelchair, and being able to withstand incredible amounts of pain.
Claire has also been noted as an incredibly powerful being. Being a Universe Carrier, she has her advantages, but her abilities are nothing to sneeze at. Being able to control death, and most strangely, love. Claire can stop death itself for a moment, she can create human suffering in a snap of a finger (figuratively), and, also create bliss beyond belief in the same moment.
Andrea is the “goddess” of art & worship. She has notably been favoured by the masses, this could be because of her skill, being a renowned fighter since she was eleven can have an effect on her image, but it is almost impossible for that to be the sole reason. Her abilities that we know of are; Mild hypnosis, incredible persuasion skills, being able to produce projections from her mind and incredible aim.
In short, the goddess trio is not to be messed with, despite their appearance, they are formidable, and should be treated with caution.
2020 was more static than usual, and you may not have been able to see as much art as you originally planned. If re-opening isn't happening fast enough in your area and you're itching to get back to the gallery, FOMO no more with our DIY Museum Guide to bring some of the best art of the past year to your very own home.
Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Untitled (Fortune Cookie Corner), 1990
If you have a penchant for takeout, put your fortune cookies to good use as decor in a corner of your room. This piece was organized by David Zwirner and the Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York from May 25-July 5, and held in homes of the 1,000 participants all around the world who created their own versions of 240-1,000 cookies. The original 1990 piece by Felix Gonzalez-Torres was the first of his Candy series. Its successor, Untitled (Portrait of Ross in LA), was featured on our first DIY Museum Guide.
The open-ended nature Gonzalez-Torres’ work allowed each participant to take some liberties in its installation and how they interacted with it, but requested that it be documented over the six weeks and replenish it to the original starting number halfway through. Wrapped or unwrapped, outdoors or in, fortunate or misfortune, it’s all up to you! If you’re an artist on a post-holiday wallet diet, display some leftover Christmas cookies or Ferrero Rochers as decor in a convenient setting for when you want a sweet treat.
Lorraine O'Grady, Art is..., 1983
Lorraine O’Grady, Art is…(girl pointing), 1983
Missing the #museumselfie? Try out the latest 2020 trend–the gold frame a la Art is... by Lorraine O’Grady. Performed during the African-American Day Parade in Harlem, O’Grady invited people to pose in the gold frames and documented it through a series of photographs. This piece was the inspiration behind the Biden-Harris Campaign Ad showing Americas from around the country holding gold frames accompanied by the song “America, the Beautiful”.
Next time you pose in front of a mirror, try reaching for a 9 by 15 ft gold frame instead. And, if you happen to be in New York later this year, O’Grady’s first retrospective of her work will be in the Brooklyn Museum, “Lorraine O'Grady: Both/And”, which will be on view from March 5 until July 18, 2021.
Banksy's rats in the bathroom and the London underground
Rat holding hand sanitizer on a train
If you’re looking for a new way to subliminally suggest people to practice good hygiene, look no further than Banksy’s rats. Banksy first posted a picture of graffiti rats in a bathroom on Instagram in April with the caption, “My wife hates it when I work from home.” In July, he posted a video of himself disguised as a sanitation worker, stenciling in rats with masks and hand sanitizer. Face coverings had become mandatory in June, and 48 hours after the video was posted, legislation was passed to make them mandatory for shoppers as well.
David Hockney's "Do remember they can't cancel the spring" and "Do remember they can't cancel autumn, either"
David Hockney, Do remember they can’t cancel the spring,
If you’ve picked up the hobby of iPad art, consider creating your own rendition of David Hockney’s still lifes and landscapes inspired by the seasons. Hockney shared the images at the beginning of the first and second lockdowns in the UK with the hopeful message that Spring and Autumn cannot be canceled. So whether you’re in the northern or southern hemisphere, remind yourself or send a reminder to someone else that Winter/Summer cannot be canceled.
The TITAN phone booth exhibition
Hal Fischer, Handkerchiefs, 1977, Signifiers for a Male Response, 1977 and Street Fashion: Jock, 1977, from the series 'Gay Semiotics', installation view, 'TITAN'.
An installation of works by 12 artists were installed onto defunct phone booths down 51st and 56th St amongst important buildings including MoMA, various public sculptures, and Radio City Music Hall. As galleries and museums have been closed due to the pandemic, the outdoor exhibition was able to create an in-person experience with art by re-imagining the phone booth. If you don't happen to have a phone booth lying around, we recommend re-imagining other items–perhaps an old landline.
The facades of the Tate, the Met, and the Phillips Collection
Chila Kumari Singh Burman’s remembering a brave new world illuminated on the facade of Tate Britain in London.
If you’re already missing Christmas decorations, consider filling that void that only string lights can fill by gifting your neighbors with the free and priceless gift of public art. Illuminate your house by creating a light display inspired by Chila Kumari Singh Burman’s “remembering a brave new world” on the facade of the Tate.
DREAM TOGETHER on left, Moral Injury/So Vote on right
Or if lights aren’t your thing, try installing Yoko Ono’s DREAM TOGETHER which was installed on the facade of the Met or Jenny Holzer’s Moral Injury/So Vote which was installed on the facade of the Phillips Collection in DC.
The Met's Gifts in Celebration of the Museum's Anniversary exhibition
“Aesthetic Splendors: Highlights from the Gift of Barrie and Deedee Wigmore”
The Met turned 150 years old in 2020, receiving gifts from over 150 collectors and supporters. And, in true birthday style, it dedicated the year to opening and displaying its gifts. So if you’ve got any Christmas presents lying around, grab a label maker and label them in the museum fashion (artist, title, date, medium, provenance). For example: “Le Creuset, Mug, c. 2020, stoneware, bought in the Williams-Sonoma after Christmas sale in 2019 then gifted to me by my mother.”
The Monoliths
Reflect on 2020 by recreating your own rendition of the mysterious monolith. The original medium of the monoliths are wooden plinths with mirrored sections of plastic or perspex. But for those of us on a budget, try poster boards or upcycling your cardboard boxes and wrap them with aluminum foil.
For more notable 2020 art moments, check out these articles on the Ruth Asawa stamps or Rosie Lee Thompkins retrospective at the Berkeley Art Museum.

Where to Find The Night Of’s Real-Life Bars and Restaurants
As of Sunday, HBOs miniseries The Night Of is over. Thats sad. It was really good. But the end of it doesnt mean you have to quit its compelling noir vibe cold-turkey. Just take a trip to New York City and relive the entire series—minus the grisly murder and Riker’s Island stint—with this bar, restaurant, casino, and golf-course crawl. This cheat sheet will let you walk a mile in John Stones sandals(ew).
HBO
Vol de Nuit, West Village
This is the bar in which John Stone confronts Cutty, akaAndrea’s ketamineconnection. It’s a good beer bar. Theres a courtyard patio out front and some legit Belgian frites on the menu. Theyve got tons of Belgian beer on tap—which made it all the more ridiculouswhen Stone ordered a Rolling Rock.
HBO
Old Town Bar, Union Square/Gramercy
A few blocks northeast of Union Square, this well-loved standbyis where Stone and Chandra Kapoor day-drank their way through discussing jury-selection tactics and her recent breakup. Its 124 years old, but its urinals are only 106 years old. Does that mean it didn’t have urinals for the first 18 years of its existence? Perhaps!Anyway, its a great spot, and it has urinals now.
HBO
Square Diner, TriBeCa
When Detective Box interviews Andreas shady-ass stepdad in that diner, the unique V-cut booth backs tip us off as to their exact location. The wood-paneled interior of this throwback eatery may have actually been a train car at some point. If you like your bacon and eggs with a side of cozyor just gold-digging personal trainerlook no further.
HBO
Fried Dumpling, Chinatown
My man Box likes his dumplings fried, and Stone knows just where to find him: At the aptly named Fried Dumpling down on Mosco St. Five dumplings or four pork buns for a buck! The location also makes sense, as this dumplingry is just across Columbus Park from the NYC Criminal Courthouse. Also, don’t ever type the word “dumplingry.”
HBO
Parkside Lounge, Lower East Side
The dark, no-frills watering hole where Box has his “retirement” party and nightly drinks could be one of a zillion dive bars in New York. But there can be only one winner: The Parkside Lounge on East Houston and B. Pro tip: Hit up Root & Bone a couple blocks north for some solid fried chicken.
HBO
San Marzano, East Village
As we now know thanks to one of NYC’s thousands of surveillance cameras, Andreas last supper took place at Locanda. Problem is, theres no such place. (At least in Manhattan.) Instead, it was fake signage hung up at San Marzano, a restaurant that serves up tasty fresh pasta for $9. This location also makes geographic sense, as she only had to walk about three blocks to hop in Nazs cab at Stuyvesant and E. 10th.
HBO
Raja Sweets, Jackson Heights
This Indian spot in Jackson Heights, Queens, played a major role in the series. It was where Nazs dad had some difficult discussions with the co-owners of his taxi cab,and in the final episode, it served as the backdrop for Stone and Nazs goodbye exchange.
HBO
Pelham Bay Golf Course, Bronx
The last thing Box wanted to do was spend his retirement farting around on a golf course. But those golf clubs he received as a retirement gift came in handy when he was trailing Ray Halle at this public links in the Bronx.
HBO
Empire City Casino, Yonkers
After getting in 18 holes, Halle likely headed west to Yonkers to try his luck at Empire City Casino. This is where Box confronted him at the bar, blew up his spot, and became the unlikely co-hero of the series.

It’s so good to be home. I can’t tell you how nice it is to be composing this blog post from my own little writing nook at Safe Haven Farm. I loved Ireland so much. We had such a wonderful adventure, enjoyed so much tasty food, saw so many beautiful sights, but boy do I love coming home!
Coming home may be my favorite part of traveling.
I’m still struggling through my jetlag for some odd reason and didn’t sleep at all last night, so this post will be brief, although I plan to have a fairly extensive photo gallery available in subsequent posts.
Andrea and our leaning tower of luggage in the booth at Costa
Andrea and I enjoyed our week in Ireland to the fullest. June 1, after we said farewell to our fellow travelers, we left our Airbnb in Temple Bar to hang out at the local coffee shop until time to check in to our next place. I stayed in place and worked on some story outlines, and Andrea went shopping in some of the nearby vintage shops.
Vintage shops in Ireland mean something very different than vintage shops here at home. In Ireland, vintage is actually antique! Andrea found a lot of great stuff.
We found our way to our Airbnb on Bunratty road, a nice brick home where we would be camping out in our little room with its even littler bathroom for the next week. On arriving, we explored the area a bit, wandered the next door shopping center, had dinner at a pub down the street, and returned for a good night’s rest.
A reproduction of a viking home Inside Dublinia
The following day, we roamed Dublinia, the viking museum. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but let me tell you, it was one of my favorite museums. Very cool, very informative, and a lot of fun!
The day afterward, we took a day trip up to Belfast and walked around St. George’s Market and C.S. Lewis Square. We’d had grander ambitions for the day, but we ran out of time. Still, we found some wonderful curry, some incredible Narnia statues, and had a generally fabulous time.
Chicken Korma from St. George’s Market in Belfast
Aslan Statue in C.S. Lewis Square in Belfast
Sunday, June 4, we went to Phoenix Park, and I vastly underestimated the size of this place. Again, I’ll be posting better pictures later on, but my goodness—if you’re ever in Dublin, Phoenix Park is a must-see attraction. But give yourself a whole day and bring your walking shoes.
Road leading out of the Farmleigh Estate, home to the Guinness family
We ended up on the far side and toured Farmleigh Estate, which was founded and owned until 1999 by the Guinness family. It’s a beautiful house with magnificent grounds. But there was a lot of walking—a LOT of walking. By the time we finished there, we were so tired, we could hardly move. And sitting for several hours sounded like a fabulous idea. So we went to the nearest movie theater and saw Wonder Woman.
Review coming later, but holy cow, that was a great movie.
Lamb Stew
After Wonder Woman, we returned to O’Shea’s, a pub we’d been in before, and I had a delightful bowl of lamb stew with mash. Unbelieveably tasty.
Our last full day in Dublin was dedicated to shopping, but unfortunately it ended up being a bank holiday. So most of the shops I wanted to hit were closed. But we still found plenty of awesome things to do and see. We found several very quirky things too. And for dinner that night, we went to a pub inside a converted church. They feature live traditional music and dancing every night. It was pretty awesome! And the beef and Guinness stew wasn’t bad either.
Live performers at The Church, a converted cathedral in Dublin
That evening, we came home and packed up, and we departed for the airport in our taxi the next morning. I watched several movies on the flight back to Chicago, and when we arrived, we had a nearly 8-hour layover. So we ventured out into the city, ate at McDonalds, and went to visit the Cloud Gate (also called The Bean). Talk about a cool piece of art! If you’re even in Chicago, go see it. It’s absolutely worth it.
#HermesTheFrog enjoyed McDonalds almost as much as we did
The Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) is a really amazing piece of art in Chicago
I’m not sure why human beings are so fascinated by shiny objects.
We made our flight with time to spare and arrived back at the good old Wichita airport just short of Midnight.
Again, I’ll be posting more information and better photos later on, but I did want to check in and just report that we had a highly enjoyable and very successful trip to Ireland. I would absolutely do it again, and I’d travel with all the same folks again too. It was a great time.
Now, the next trip on my radar is the AWSA Conference in Cincinnati in a few weeks. I’m excited about it, as well as the possibility of visiting the Creation Museum!
Stay tuned for Ireland photos from a “real” camera!
