I've always been curious about why Andrew Lloyd Webber's version of The Phantom of the Opera changed the names of the managers from the novel. Like, Firmin Richard became Richard Firmin and then Armand Moncharmin became Gilles Andre??
Like, Firmin's was just a name swap, so where tf did Gilles Andre come from??

More TPOTO AUs
You were all so overwhelmingly kind, and I can't thank you enough for how welcoming this community is! To think I was once afraid to post at all.
Enough of my corniness, onto the post...
Western
The town of (I can’t do fucking names) has been a ghost town for years. Strangers pass through, but never for more than a night, always moving on to somewhere better.
Then Christine arrives.
A quiet girl with only her fiddle to speak for her, she plays melodies that do more than sound beautiful—they enrapture. Like men possessed, travelers and townsfolk alike find themselves dancing to her tunes, emptying their pockets at her feet without a second thought.
Word spreads. For every passerby who hears her, another comes seeking the girl with the bewitched strings. Soon, the once-deserted town is teeming with customers, and the main benefactors—André and Firmin—are thrilled. At last, business is booming.
They offer Christine a stage, eager to capitalize on her talent. She refuses. At first, they think it’s shyness, but when pressed, her reaction is alarming—disarmingly angry, almost fearful. She plays only for those passing through. No grand performances. No lingering audiences.
But André and Firmin are greedy. Ignoring her warnings, they spread her name far and wide, ensuring the world knows of the girl with the haunting music. It is then that he comes. A rider with eyes like burning coals, smoldering beneath the brim of his hat. A demon, drawn by the name in the papers. He has come to reclaim the fiddle Christine’s father traded for his soul.
(To those who assume this is an enemy-to-lovers story, this is more of a Christine exploration. Erik serves as more of a force of nature rather than a full character. The main focus is the relationship between Christine and her father. At least for now, I have no fucking idea what I'm doing with this story)
2. Swap
Erik, as he always dreamed, lives the life of an ordinary man—or rather, an extraordinary one. From architecture to music, he dominates any field he chooses, yet perfectionism proves his fatal flaw. Nothing holds his interest for long. Not even Carlotta, the greatest diva of all, is enough for him. After one too many harsh critiques, she quits the stage for good, taking his benefactors with her. Left with a failing opera and a bruised ego, Erik wanders the streets of Paris, drowning in his misfortune.
Then, he hears it—a voice so ethereal it feels ripped from his own compositions. He follows, helpless against its pull, until he finds her: a lone woman standing before a moss-ridden grave, donning a pale mask. Her song is so haunting he barely notices his own steps as he approaches—until she startles at his presence. Erik scrambles to explain himself before she can flee, but apparently screaming at a stranger about paying them to sing isn’t the best approach. She vanishes into the night, leaving him with nothing but regret—and a missing cufflink.
Hope seems lost, until fate intervenes. Enter Philippe de Chagny, benefactor of the arts, offering salvation to the “poor” (rich) starving artist. And like magic, the masked woman returns, offering her services to Erik—under one condition. He must help her seduce her long-lost love, Raoul.
(The main inspiration for this is my fair lady. don't ask.)

I could run the opera house a lot better than the people who currently run it.. so here’s me questioning whether or not I should take over.
