still thinking about how each animorph's fate is directly related to how much they enjoyed the war
#animorphs#I swear I saw a post about this years ago but I don't know where it is#so I guess I'll say it again#Rachel loves the war. She flourishes in it. She self-actualizes. And it's terrible#She and her friends don't even know what peacetime Rachel would look like. *Can* she even exist outside of the war?#And it turns out#No! She can't! Peacetime Rachel never comes to pass! She dies before the war is over!#While Ax. Ax is relatively unbothered. He did enlist in the Andalite military after all. He's not as haunted as the rest of them#After Rachel dies he's the next. Peace comes but he chases the echoes of the war and it ends him.#In some awful way where he's gone but he's not. Not exactly dead but absorbed into a greater hive mind#And of course Cassie hates the war. Hates fighting hates killing hates it the whole way through#And when it's over she manages to move on. She spends her days saving the environment#And when battle again comes knocking at her door she says no#She says goodbye. She knows she'll never see the rest of them again.#Because the rest. They hate the war but not as much as Cassie.#And they try to move on but unlike Cassie they can't.#So off they go to enter into another war. And maybe they survive but maybe they don't#Leaving only Cassie as the real survivor of the war. Alone on Earth while her friends all went to die in space#goddamn#I hated the last book as a kid#I still wish they had a happier ending#but there's so much to chew over and cry about#it's a really good ending

based off of our lovely @igotcaged 's post here
older!johnny cage > can't get enough
johnny realizes just how much he adores you before a date night
notes: this is so fluffy i might throw up, also why are his boobs so big
[ masterlist ]
it was unlike the two of you to have a night off with a husband that's entire life is devoted to saving the world and making them smile at the same time. if it wasn't shinnok or a timeline disturbance, it was ninja mime or citizen cage. you worked in an office, a higher up that needed to be around or you swore the skyscraper's foundations would crumble. both of you held together your own worlds, but it was near valentine's day when you both get the opportunity to go home and get some rest.
it was cassie that ushered johnny out of his office with his bag full of belongings. she was tired of seeing her old man grovel and train like a military man, and wanted him to be a good husband to her step-parent, you. your own vice president insisted you go home after not getting the last few holidays with your family.
in johnny's typical hollywood style, he wanted to take you out on a date. usually, he was the type of man to just settle for something low key, like an at-home steak dinner or a walk in the park, but he missed you more than anything at the moment. so, he managed to convince you to wear something pretty, and he'd clean up all the same.
you pull and tug at the dress you settled on, a sleek beige dress that settled nicely around your ankles. so used to suit jackets and pencil skirts, you felt somewhat foreign.
johnny walks into the shared bedroom, tugging at his sleeves, but that all stopped when he got a good look at you.
"well god damn."
you twirl around to meet your husband's eyes. he cleaned up nicely too. a smooth pair of beige dress pants accompanying a brown button-up. his arms dropped to his sides as he admired you, and you could see in his eyes that he had fallen in love with you all over again. sure, you always dressed nicely, but johnny was reminded of how gorgeous you looked when you dolled yourself up, especially in the jewelry and dresses he had bought you over the years.
"kind of reminds you of our wedding day, doesn't it?" his voice is tender. you don't recall the last time he voice wasn't strained from spewing commands or taking business calls.
"that's probably the last time we dressed up like this," you reply teasingly, taking one of his arms in your hands and folding his sleeve for him, a task that he long abandoned since landing his gaze on you. "you remember that?"
"every day," his eyes are fixed on your small hands holding his large arm. he stands still, as if he'd startle you from moving. "i have our photo at the altar in my wallet. don't know if i ever told you that."
"you didn't," you grin down, buttoning his sleeve and patting his now bare forearm. "but i could have guessed."
as you reach for his other arm to fold his sleeve, his hand meets yours. with fluttering eyelashes, he places long, sweet kisses on each of your knuckles.
"i love you," he mutters into the back of your hand, placing another kiss and holding his lips there.
"you make me so happy," his hand twists your arm, giving him access to your wrist, where another kiss lands.
"okay, big guy," you giggle, trying to move away. "i love you too, but we'll be late."
johnny ignores your point and spins you around. he wraps one arm around your waist, trapping you against his front. you look in the mirror to determine his intentions, but his eyes are fixed on you. he holds your arm out for you and kisses the backside of your hand again. his mouth glides up, reaching your elbow.
"i see what's going on here," you smirk. "are you going all gomez on me?"
"let me have this," he mumbles again, kissing all up your upper arm until he reaches your bare shoulder, where he bites you playfully. of course, he doesn't bite hard enough for people to see as much as he'd love to.
"johnnyyy—" you whine-giggle out when his nose brushes against the flesh of your neck. "you're tickling me, don't be surprised if i kick you." johnny breathes in your perfume, rubbing the tip of his nose up and down your neck, all the while peppering kisses along the exposed skin. in between every kiss, there's a sweet phrase or two.
"sweet girl." your shoulder.
"my one and only." your collarbone.
"my wife." your jawline.
"i'm so lucky." your ear.
"my beloved." your cheek.
"you look so good." the corner of your lips.
having enough of his game, you twirl around and wrap your arms around his neck, trapping him in a firm but chaste kiss. when you pull away, he's grinning sleepily, and you giggle at your lipstick now transferred onto his lips.
"you might wanna wipe your mouth before we leave," you suggest with a laugh.
"why? not my shade?" johnny replies jokingly, leaning into the mirror to inspect the damage. "ah, you're right. it suits you better."
even after all these years, after everything he's been through, it still warms you inside that his youthful, loving side peeks its head around the corner at the best of times. you couldn't ask for a better husband.

Wendolyn "Wendy" Jane
Here's a fic idea that I'll never be able to flesh out because I'm super burned out, but here's my take on a TimKon Clonebaby AU!!
***
So, when Tim was kicked out of the window, he didn't bother to call Kon because he thought the whole encounter he had with him was a hallucination. But, he's calm. And an extra thought he had as he fell was that his and Kon's clone-baby is secured with Martha Kent.
"I can't wait to meet you, Wendy," he says as he falls.
No one catches Tim.
Dick was too late.
Another family member he wasn't fast enough to catch.
***
Kon, Bart, Cassie and the rest of YJ had been devastated when they heard the news. Tim's body was going to be cremated, so chances of him being brought back to life by enemies would be nonexistent.
To comfort himself, Kon walks into the room Wendy had been lightly snoring in.
When Kon came back with Bart, he was surprised to see this baby in Ma's arms, wondering if he actually landed himself in an alternate dimension. But when Ma explained the circumstances of her birth, that Tim tried creating clones of him and Bart to bring them back into his life, Kon gently took the baby into his arms and wept. Then, he went to find Tim.
He didn't think Tim was crazy, but the whole time he was with him, Tim was definitely not in his right mind.
Now, Wendy won't know who her other dad was. Because Tim's gone.
But not completely gone.
Unlike Kon and Bart who left only memories of themselves, Tim left this child. She's not Tim, but she's made with all of his desperation and love.
Kon, after a few hours of mourning, vows to take care of her the best he could.
***
"Pa, why I haf two fiwst names?" Wendy asks one night as she's tucked into bed, after her first day of school. "An' why's my nickname Wendy?"
Kon chuckled. "Your nickname is Wendy because it's the name of my favorite character from my and your daddy's favorite show," he explained, also tucking in her favorite stuffed animal since she was a baby - a chubby, red duck called Mr. Duck. She immediately hugs it close to her and snuggles into its head. Mr. Duck gave out a hearty 'QUACK!' that sounds a lot like Tim's voice.
Kon's heart doesn't ache anymore. Just bursts with love.
Then, picking up the book, 'How to be a Pirate', Kon opens it and flips it to the bookmarked page, a new chapter of when Hiccup and the rest of the Hooligan boys discovers a coffin. This is the 19th time they're reading this book. And it will take 20 more times until they move on to the next book of the How to Train Your Dragon series.
"Your name 'Jane' is from your daddy's mom's name. Her name was 'Janet', and your dad was downright a mama's boy," he continued, causing Wendy to giggle.
"An' Daddy's name's Tim, wight?" she asked.
"Timothy, actually," said Kon. "Timothy Jackson Drake. He has a long name like you. But he likes being called Tim. Just Tim. Not Timmy. Not TJ. And definitely not Timberlina."
Wendy cackles loudly, kicking her legs up and repeating with her lisps Tim's funny 'Timberlina' nickname over and over.
Then, once she's done laughing, Kon starts reading.
The chapter isn't even over and his little girl, his and Tim's little girl, is already asleep.
***
There was a skateboard in the attic. It was right beside this box full of envelopes and journals handwritten by her late Dad, and it had some kind of engine at its base. It also had a whole bunch of scratches on its underside.
It's also one of the most beautiful things 12 years old Wendy had ever seen.
"Pa!" she shouts, running down the stairs to the kitchen, finding Aunt Pru and Aunt Cassie burning down her Pa's stove, like usual. She turns to her Pa who had his head in his hands, most likely trying to calculate how much he needs to buy himself a new stove. "Pa, can we buy me a skateboard?"
Aunt Pru smirks. "Tryin' ta' get cool with the boys, are we?"
Wendy rolls her eyes. Her? Getting cool with the boys? Not a chance. She couldn't fit in with anyone if she tried.
She's heard stories of her dad being able to become friends with anyone, from jocks to nerds. He wasn't popular, but people of all kinds just seem to be able to hang out with him with no trouble.
Not to mention, both of her dads looked unfairly handsome in their teens. It really wasn't fair when the beauty gene doesn't get passed down or genetically inputted into her. Ugh.
But, scratch that!
"Pa! Can we?? Buy a skateboard?"
Pa glanced to his stove. Then to Wendy.
It really wasn't a choice to begin with.
"Sure, I also know someone who could teach you," he said.
***
"YOU ACCIDENTALLY SENT MY DAUGHTER BACK TO THE PAST?!"
Bart rolled his eyes. "It wasn't an accident. She was meant to go for a little time-travel adventure!"
"Of course you'd know that," muttered Kon.
Away from them, Lizzie laughed. "I remember my time-travel adventure!" she said, ignoring Jon's deadpan stare towards her and Damian's completely subtle wince. "I got an A+ on my essay!!"
Kon ignored Lizzie and started pacing the floor. "Our timeline could be changing and we wouldn't even know it!"
"Thank you!" Jon said, throwing his hands up finally feeling validated.
Damian rolled his eyes. "We're fine, aren't we? The universe isn't getting destroyed or fading from existence. Additionally, Allan did mention she was meant to travel back in time."
Bart wiped a fake tear away from his eye. "Thanks, Dames."
Damian scoffed.
On Wendy's side, she was standing right in front of an abandoned warehouse in Paris. Or, to be more specific, an abandoned Lex Corp Cloning Facility.
She clutched the letter in her hand and stepped inside.
'I guess I'm illegally a Parisian,' thought Wendy as she walked through the creepy halls, further down into where the cloning tech could be.
Then, finally, she reached it, the big, green 'ATTEMPT 100 SUCCESS' glaring back at her.
Looking before the railings, she finds a familiar figure. One she's only seen in pictures. But, instead of the strong, smart and confident hero, she sees the most broken and saddest teenager in existence.
"Dad..." she calls, heartbroken.
Her dad's head snap's up, but he slowly stands protectively, clutching the bundle in his arms closer to his chest.
He takes one look at Wendy, and--
He...
He relaxes. He relaxes his hold. His stance. His everything.
He goes up to Wendy, a hand reaching out to gently caress her face.
"You have my mom's eyes," he said.
Wendy smiled back at him. "Yeah," she says, her voice almost a whisper.
"You have Kon's stupid smile, too."
Wendy rolls her eyes. "Pa keeps telling me it's your stupid smile, Dad."
Her Dad laughs. He's almost in disbelief. But.
"How are you here?" he asked.
Wendy opened her mouth, then carefully chose her words. "You left a letter for me. For my sixteenth birthday. I'm not going to get into detail what you wrote in it but, you said it was okay to tell you that you encouraged me to head to the past and--- here I am."
Her dad's brows scrunched together, the same way she saw in stolen pics how her own brows does.
"And you're okay to be in the same... vicinity as... your past self?" he asked.
Wendy nodded her head. "Uncle Damian told me so!"
Her dad laughed, bewildered. "Uncle Damian!?"
Wendy nodded. "He's an ass, but his heart is made of gold." She reached a hand out for her Dad to take. "I have so much family growing up, Dad. I... I have so much to tell you."
Nobody told Wendy how her Dad died. Or when he died. Just that he did.
So, lets her Dad take her to this apartment he rented. It was barely touched, there wasn't even the mess he was known for making. She guesses the mess was down at the clone labs.
But, once the both of them settled down, her dad changed into more comfortable clothing. And. It was almost like looking at a mirror.
Wendy's heart burst with emotion.
From there, they both exchanged stories of their lives until it turned morning.
She watched as how tenderly her Dad held her baby-self with the same love her Pa gave her. She longed for it. But. She couldn't stay any longer. She felt the timer Uncle Bart gave her vibrate in her pocket.
"I have to go back," she said.
Her dad nodded, gently laying her baby self in the middle of the bed. Then, he turned to her with his arms open wide.
Wendy took it. She hugged him back just as tightly.
Then, after a heartfelt goodbye, she left the apartment.
And then, she disappeared home.

Augusnippets Day 8: Found Family
Masterlist
tw: sleeper agent, discussion of sensory deprivation torture
"Could you move any slower?"
"I'm trying to keep up. Being locked away for eight years didn't really help my physical endurance," grumbled Cassandra.
Bri was impatiently pacing around her. "I get that, but seriously, if you were walking any slower, you'd be going backwards."
"There's not really anything I can --" Cassandra jumped out of her skin as her phone rang, then again when she saw who it was.
She shouldn't pick up. She really shouldn't. But he might slip and offer her a clue about his pursuit. She swiped to answer.
"Hello, sunshine."
Cassandra glared at the phone, as though her handler -- former handler -- could see her. "That's not going to work on me over the phone. You know that."
"I do know that. But I bet it's got you on edge anyway," said that infuriatingly smug voice.
Her hand hovered over the disconnect button, wondering why she even picked it up in the first place.
"Listen, Cassie. We both know how this is going to end," he said. "You know you're not going to escape, not for very long. I'm already close to closing in on you. And every day you're away, I'm going to add another day of sensory dep to your punishment."
She only wavered for a second. She'd already been gone for five days. The longest she had ever been in sensory dep was a week, and she'd been a complete wreck for a long time afterwards.
But if she did manage to escape, she'd never have to do that again, and that would make this all worth it. It had to. She punched the disconnect button and fought the urge to fling the whole phone into the path of an oncoming car.
"Did he say sensory dep?" said Bri.
"Oh, you heard that?" said Cassandra. She really hadn't wanted to explain this to Bri, knowing that her unlikely bodyguard would find her pathetic for being so spooked by such a small thing. "It was part of my training, locking me in sensory deprivation for days on end to develop my psychic powers. But I hated it so much they started using it as punishment for me too." She shrugged, hoping her fear wasn't obvious. "It's not a big deal."
But Bri actually looked disturbed. "They locked you in sensory deprivation for days? How the hell did that not drive you out of your mind?"
"I mean… it was part of training, so I had ways to deal with it…"
"That's fucked up," she said, and seemed to mean it.
Before Cassandra could respond, Bri's phone rang. She looked at it, frowning.
"It's your handler."
Cassandra's eyes went wide. How did they know Bri? "Don't pick it up!"
But Bri had already answered. "Hello?"
"Hello, Bri," said her handler's smooth voice. "'Hello, sunshine' is Cassandra's trigger phrase. If you say it to her in person, she'll be under our control again, and come walking straight back to us."
Every muscle in Cassandra's body tensed as she prepared to run. She had nowhere to go, and Bri would easily catch up to her, but she had to try.
"Why are you telling me this?" asked Bri.
"Because I want dear Cassie back home unharmed, as soon as possible, and I'm sure you want that fugitive off your hands," he said. "I'm prepared to wire you fifty grand to your bank account and let you walk free. We really don't care about you at all, but if we catch you with Cassie, we can't promise mercy."
Bri was thinking, and Cassandra's mind flashed through every time she'd been a burden on Bri since she'd escaped. It was over, then. Bri would catch her easily and say her phrase and she'd be helpless. She'd be foolish not to take the deal.
Five days in sensory dep. She could do that.
"You seriously think I'm going to do that?" said Bri. "You think I dragged your little pet through hell and back just to turn her over to you? Fuck that and fuck you."
"Bri, be serious about --" Her handler's voice was cut off as Bri disconnected.
"Can you believe the fucking audacity?" said Bri. "You didn't tell me your handler was an idiot -- hey, what are doing with your face? Don't make that face at me."
"I'm sorry," said Cassandra, laughing and crying at the same time and sounding like a complete disaster. "I didn't think you'd defend me, after everything…"
"I said what I said," said Bri, crossing her arms and trying to look stern. "After everything we've been through, I'm not just going to fucking give up now."
Cassandra wiped at her face. "Thank you. You don't know how much that means to me."
"Whatever," said Bri, with an exaggerated eye roll. "We'd better get moving. If you don't start walking faster, I'm going to have to fucking carry you like a sack of potatoes."

Robert Joseph MacCready Headcanons and Birth Chart- Part Three!
Now, for the astrology side of things! I almost fell out in the floor at how perfectly it nailed my RJ.
Here's his chart:
For the sake of my and your sanity, I'm going to quote Astrology.com directly. It will not have a ton of links like the Cassie post, just this one that takes you to the planets if you want to read further: https://www.astrology.com/planets
Sun (self/personality) in Aries: "Those born during the season of the Ram approach life with an assertiveness unfettered by doubt. Rams take life at the horns and use their own to plow through any and every obstacle that comes their way. Meandering paths and methods aren't their style. They prefer direct action, so no need to worry about passive aggression from these individuals. However, despite their fierce and fearless fronts, beyond the flames lies a surprisingly sensitive soul.
These are the firecrackers of the zodiac. Though Aries' can be quick to mouth off, they're usually just as quick to cool off. Barring those natives with a couple fixed sign placements, grudge-holding is unlikely for a Ram. Mars, their ruling planet, implies high stamina and excitement, therefore pushing them to keep moving forward. But don't presume to get over on an Aries sun. They may forgive, but truly forgetting is another thing entirely."
Moon (emotions/instinct) in Scorpio: "On the surface, Scorpio moons appear to be the most controlled of their watery brethren. Lunar Scorpions prefer to sift through their emotions alone, projecting a mysterious air to everyone but their dearest (and sometimes, not even them). But, like a lake frozen over, their psyches contain any number of lurking sensitivities and troubles. Unfortunately for their loved ones (and those trying to join those ranks), they have an inherent distrust towards others.
Conversely, those with their moon in Scorpio actively seek out commitment. However, their defensive and overly suspicious natures make it difficult for their relationships to reach the profundity that they crave. But for the rare few that manage to break through Scorpio moon's walls, a wealth of devotion awaits them. The affection of a Scorpio moon isn't for everyone, but for those who receive it, it is everything."
Mercury (communication) in Aries: ""Intensely expressing" should be the byline for those with their Mercury in Aries. If you happen upon a person speaking and gesturing wildly, they likely have this placement. Communication is a full-body experience for Aries Mercury, so they can't help but let their passion pour from every pore. Aggression isn't their intention, but they certainly do come across defensive, making them seem a little rough around the edges.
If you listen closely, their words are likely very straightforward. Mincing words isn't exactly an Aries Mercury skill, and much like other fire Mercury placements, nor is filtering, for that matter. The speed at which they make decisions simply doesn't allow for it. Someone with their Mercury in Aries says what they mean and mean what they say. More than nearly any other sign—save perhaps Sagittarius—you can trust that an Aries Mercury will tell you the truth."
Venus (love and money) in Aquarius: "Venus in Aquarius originated the friends-to-lovers trope. These folks require familiarity and real attachment before committing. From open relationships to separate households, they are pulled into relationships that others might consider strange or unconventional. In fact, their partners are often offbeat and "different" in some way. While some fall for appearances or voices, Aquarius Venus' are most attracted to minds. Clever conversations, spirited debates, and witty retorts are the path to the heart of someone with their Venus in Aquarius. These people are generally fairly intellectual, so they need to feel that they've met their match before settling down.
Beyond romance, those with this Venus sign have forward-thinking tendencies and are unafraid to let them loose. However, Venus' influence softens their otherwise highly stubborn nature, making them a little more tolerable than the average Aquarius placement."
Mars (passion) in Aries: "The Roman gladiator and the brave knight on horseback—Mars in Aries has a drive that is the stuff of legends. They approach obstacles with the confidence that they'll bulldoze over them. Often, they do just that—unless, of course, the task requires prolonged efforts. As a Cardinal sign, Aries prefers to be the starter rather than the finisher. Their fire burns brightly, and that sort of passion can be difficult to maintain for very long. Furthermore, though they excel at self-starting, their impulsivity can act as a two-edged sword, alternating between inspiring their most forward choices and causing them to veer off course.
Fortunately, Aries Mars' tempers are much the same with large blow ups being followed by relative peace. In this way, they usually aren't the type to hold grudges, but their wound-up nature encourages a certain irritability."
Jupiter (luck/learning) in Virgo: "When Jupiter meets detail-oriented Virgo, he creates an individual whose mind goes a mile a minute, though others will likely never know this on account of their humility. Jupiter in Virgo makes for an orderly mode de vie. Unlike their Mercurial sibling, Gemini, there is a method to Jupiter in Virgo's madness. As they say, the devil is in the details, and Virgo Jupiter prefers to immerse themselves in the minutiae of everyday life. Habits, routines, and so-called busy work are a pleasure for those with this placement, but refrain from simply characterizing these people as dull!
They're just at home and prosperous while engaging in deep intellectual pursuits as they are doing their daily chores. In these quests, Virgo Jupiter is relentless. Exhaustion or lethargy are foreign concepts for these natives. Productivity is the word, so it's rare to catch them sitting down."
Saturn (karma/life lessons) in Taurus: "Saturn tightens the belt in Taurus. Taurus' usual love of luxury is reigned in here to produce somewhat of a spendthrift. Where most Taurus placements opt to spend, Taurus Saturn instead saves. Practicality rather than excess is the North Star for those with their Saturn in Taurus. These folks have serious financial and material goals that Saturn pushes them to reach.
However, as different as these Saturnian Taurus' are from their solar counterparts, Saturn can't completely erase the Taurean spirit. It's uncertain whether a higher power even has that ability. So, those with this placement retain the stereotypical Taurus stubbornness—or, more kindly put, their admirable stick-to-it-iveness."
Uranus (rebellion/innovation) in Aries: "When the planet of shock meets the sign of the adrenaline junkie, you're up for a wild ride. Uranus in Aries wants the world, and they want it now. They, more than anyone, want to be first in whatever line they're in. These individuals aren't satisfied if they're not breaking ground. As a result, records of their exploits are often found in the earlier pages of history books.
However, the path to becoming the stuff of legends is hardly an easy one and typically fraught with more than a few bumps, scratches, and broken bones for these folks. Uranus in Aries treats looking before leaping the same way most people do trips to the dentist. That is, they loathe, sidestep, or overlook it completely. As a result, Aries Uranus can end up in touchy and ultimately avoidable situations."
Neptune (illusion/dreams/abstract thoughts) in Virgo: "Neptune tries to lift grounded Virgo a little more into the clouds. Neptune releases Virgo from some of the trappings of practicality. Where stress and anxiety ordinarily exist in the Virgo psyche, Neptune has replaced with bliss and calm, giving them ample opportunities to better employ their intellect. With Neptune in Virgo, the sign's Mercury-fueled ideas are used for the greater benefit of mankind or even just the native's community.
Though they can definitely still fall down the rabbit hole where their detail-oriented natures are concerned, Virgo Neptune's genius and tendency toward precision generally flow in positive directions."
Pluto (transformation/regeneration/rebirth) in Capricorn: "The Pluto in Capricorn generation is meant to smash through existing systems and structures. Accepted concepts of work/life balance and office politics do not appeal to the children of this astrological era. This is the generation that asks, "Why should we spend 40 hours or more each week in the service of a company?" As a result, those with this placement are more independent where working is concerned. However, Capricorn Pluto is far from lazy; they simply abide by a set of laws that may or may not fall in line with society.
Naturally, these individuals don't exactly mesh well with authority figures. Ironically, Pluto's passion and Capricorn's enterprising energy will likely push them to become the very authority they've struggled against. Drive is a key characteristic for this placement, so they're sure to take the world by storm."
North Node (karmic destiny) in Taurus: "Lessons and rewards around themes of discovering your personal value, establishing boundaries, mutual empowerment through relationships, and developing personal strength."
Chiron (empathy/pain/helping others) in Pisces: "Pisces, the sign of sacrifice, surrender and spiritual depth, adds even more to Chiron’s legacy and ability as a wounded healer, and invites us to take a long hard look at this wound....
Profound pain can be a calling to spiritual awakening, no matter where the pain originally came from. It can be a call to patience, a call to joy, a call to empathy, a call to mercy. Pain does not have to multiply itself. It can stop wherever you stop it. Not content to simply heal our wounds, we can also dance them, love them, preach them, decorate them, sing them, work with them, honor them."
Ascendant (outward appearance): "People with a Taurus ascendant exude beauty and creativity. Taurus is a sign that’s ruled by the planet Venus, which represents beauty, balance, and creativity. There is a strong connection to the tangible and physical world. Spending time in nature, creating things with their hands, and cultivating more sensual experiences matter greatly to this rising sign."
Midheaven/MC (professional life/traits) in Aquarius: "Rebellious, witty, zealous, changemaker. Professions: activist, engineer, environmental scientist." (The first one made me laugh in the beginning, but then it kind of made sense considering how upset he gets at pre-War atrocities.)
If you made it to the end, thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed the miniature novel about my favorite Fallout companion. I hope to have the next chapter of DATC up by the weekend; I'm still ironing out some rough spots here and there.
Love you all.

Compton Boole Beeswax:
Earlier today I was thinking about Compton's Cookoff, and I have a Crackpot Theory-slash-Headcanon: the four animals that help Raz prepare the meals are all based on other people from Compton's life.
Pork Chopper is based on his father, a police officer (i.e. a pig) who Compton remembers as being very 'tough' with him, encouraging him to fight back against bullies ("they'll be much nicer once you've put 'em through the slicer!"). Their relationship deteriorated once Compton got involved with the Animal Liberation movement, eventually deciding he was 'sick in the head' after blowing up those animals with his mind - something Compton apparently agrees with, as Pork Chopper calling the hosts 'sick' is portrayed as an attack of conscience. Compton still has positive memories of him and may have wished to reconcile, going from Chopper's sudden turn for the upbeat (in contrast with Butch Oleander who was portrayed as a monster).
Frog Flipper is his son - and the father of Dogen and Sam - a high-strung, nervous, overworked individual ("I gotta pull a double shift?!") who tries to stay positive but always seem on the verge of flipping out. Compton had to raise him fresh off the heels of losing everything in the fight against Maligula, an experience comparable to trying to fry an egg over a constantly-moving fire. Later, his son came to him for guidance on how to manage Sam and especially Dogen, only to be pushed away - by then Compton had isolated himself and believed his advice would only make things worse. He'd ultimately turned his son into the same parent he had been.
Patty Puree is his ex-wife and the mother of his son. Compared to Cassie, who he saw as a friend and someone he could approach, his relationship with his wife was far more uneven - she'd always seemed like a high-and-mighty figure, well beyond his reach (hence why she's the hardest to get to), who carried herself with a regal air. He convinced himself trying to reach out to her would just end with his hand getting blended into paste. In the end, he thinks, she only married him out of pity and to help raise their child. The fact she divorced him once their son became an adult only confirms that for him.
Hippo Pot I'm not so sure about, since he only has one line and it isn't anything especially noteworthy. My best guess is that he's an old partner-in-crime from Compton's Animal Liberation days, someone reliable who kept him focused and relaxed, hence why the ingredients relax while boiling... but they are still boiling, and Compton believes he can never relax, otherwise he'll boil over.
The fact that all four of them are involved in Ram It Down but never actively judge him like the Ford, Hollis and Otto stand-ins do suggest that, to some extent, he's 'moved on' from them and doesn't care so much about their judgment specifically. However, he still can't forget them, so they're relegated to side-roles in his mental game show. This also shows that, despite everything, a part of him wanted to move on even before Raz arrived, he just gave him a push in the right direction. Tellingly, they're still on the set if Raz comes back to the level later, unlike all the Judges.

Mortal Kombat 10 x reader: Chapter 7
3rd P.O.V
The scene cuts to the Sky Temple. Team S-F creep up behind a wall overlooking a crevice as D'Vorah speaks with Liu Kang, Kitana and Sindel "Lord Shinnok is nearly finished. Soon the Jinsei's corruption will be irreversable" D'vorah spoke to them "The invasion can then proceed Raiden and his allies will be unable to offer resistance" Kitana stated Kung Jin missteps, and some stones crumble under his feet and fall into the crevice below them. Takeda and Cassie stop Jin from falling "Once the realm falls, our path to victory will be clear. Advise Lord Shinnok that the Oni and Orochi are ready. At his command, we'll unleash them on Earthrealm" Liu Kang commands D'Vorah nods and walks into the Sky Temple. Kung Lao and Smoke walk up to the rest of the revenants "Have you found Raiden's portal to the Heavens?" Liu Kang asked "Yes, but his wards protect it. We can't break through" Kung lao answered Team S-F peer over the wall at the revenants "That is unacceptable. After Earthrealm is destroyed, we must complete Lord Shinnok's vengeance; invade the Heavens and destroy the Elder Gods" Kitana said annoyed "Come" Liu kang said as he, Smoke and Kung Lao walk off "Make war on the Heavens?! If Shinnok can take down the Elder Gods--" Takeda freaks out whispering "End of the universe. Got it" Jacqui finished his sentence (name), with her mask pulled back up looks to Kung lao, whose face shows pain and sorrow, and places a hand on his shoulder "Jin..." she whispers "Kung Lao... to see him like this..." he says to himself "We'll all be hangin' 'round the Netherrealm water cooler if we don't pull this off. C'mon" Cassie saysAs they creep along the wall, a rock comes loose from where Takeda puts his foot. Unlike Kung Jin before him, the rest of Team S-F are unable to catch him and he falls, just barely grabbing into the crevice edge in time "Takeda!" (name) shouts. She reaches her hand for Takeda to grab Sindel and Kitana notice the noise. Realising they've been spotted, Cassie motions to Jin and they spring out of cover, running forward and engaging in kombat. Kung Jin swings his staff at Kitana as Cassie fends off Sindel's strikes. Kitana gets through Jin's staff swings, punches him in the stomach and kicks him in the face as he bends over, staggering him. Cassie punches Sindel, who blocks two more strikes from her and sends her reeling with a punch of her own. Cassie begins to retreat as Sindel advances on her
"Has your mother ever told you what I did to her friends? Killed them all in the blink of an eye" she taunts Cassie "And your own daughter. You proud of that?" Cassie barks back "We are bonded in death. You will join us and I will give you a proper upbringing!"They fight. Without the magic of Shang Tsung and his consumed souls in Sindel's body, she is unable to bring up the same power and strength that killed so many of Earthrealm's warriors. That is why she finds herself unable to take down Cassie so easily and that allows the leader of Team S-F to rally and beat her down, eventually leaving her unconscious on the ground "Nice offer, Mommy Dearest, but I'll pass." (name) is still trying to reach down and pull Takeda up from a sticky end at the bottom of the crevice the Sky Temple rests on. They both strain to reach each other's outstretched hand. Takeda suddenly loses his grip and falls... but (name) leans down and grabs his hand in the nick of time. Both of them struggle for a few moments, but eventually (name) pulls Takeda back up "I owe you one" he says smiling at her She pats him on the shoulder "I'll remember that" she replies Kung Jin yells out as he is flung backwards, crashing into the large gong in the temple courtyard. He passes out from the collision. As Kitana moves in to finish him, Cassie calls out to her "Back off, princess!" "You think mere words can stop me?" Kitana taunts she turns as she spots Takeda and Jacqui running toward her. The four, counting Mileena, of them surround the revenant "Thanks for the assist" Cassie thanks them "Any time" Jacqui replied "Tick tock, ladies" Kitana blocks strikes from Cassie and Jacqui with her fans, kicking Cassie away at the same time she punches Jacqui backward. Takeda lands two punches across her face, but she blocks a third and counters with a roundhouse kick that staggers him then knocks aitlyn into a stone pillar making her stunned. She then levitates him and Jacqui into the air with her fan-nado attack and chucks of her fans into his abdomen. She follows up on Jacqui by throwing her remaining fan into her shoulder. With them both down, Kitana recalls both fans to her and twirls them around, turning to face Cassie
"No!" Cassie screams "You wish to die first? So be it"They fight. Kitana proves to be a huge test for Cassie, as her speed and skill in battle matches and surpasses the young Earthrealmer. However, Cassie shows that she has tricks of her own up her sleeve, and these allow her to remain in the fight and take it to the revenant. After a fierce battle, Cassie manages to emerge victorious."You're not killing anyone" As Kung Jin pulls himself to a seated position, Cassie rushes over to Takeda. "Help Jacqui!" she commanded as Mileena ran to (name) helping her up. Realising the situation is dire, Jin does as he's told for once. Cassie helps Takeda to his feet. He's favouring his abdomen, which is bloodied up from Kitana's fan. Cassie: Messed you up pretty bad "Ugh, great bedside manner. I can fight" Takeda said but Cassie puts his arm around her shoulder to support him. They walk over to Jin and Jacqui, who's sitting down and favouring her shoulder "Jacqui?" she asked "It's nothing. Just like Kurdistan" Jacqui said putting on a smile "(name) what about you?" "I'm all good" Team S-F hear someone call out in Chinese. They turn to spot Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Smoke rushing toward them "alright you two get going" (name) stated "Mileena, Takeda, Jacqui and I'll handle them" Cassie and Kung Jin try to argue but she cuts them off "just go! have faith in your team" Cassie looks to them and pulls out her pistols "Damn it. Keep your heads down. I'll see you on the other side" She nods to Jin and they take off into the Temple. The scene cuts to Shinnok in the Jinsei Chamber. He has now completely corrupted it with his presence. Raiden is still trapped in the skeleton hand, barely conscious.
D'Vorah is with the cocooned Johnny Cage, watching as her insects slowly eat into his face "They taste your flesh. Burrow deep. Inside you they will grow. Gnaw your innards" D'vorah taunts Johnny is still fully conscious during this horrific ordeal, but he refuses to cry out in pain. Cassie and Jin rush into the Jinsei Chamber "By the gods!" Kung Jin shouts "DAD!" Cassie yells D'Vorah turns around at their voices and engages them in kombat. She blocks a kick from Jin and a punch from Cassie, kicking her in the stomach and forcing her backward. She blocks a punch from Jin and extends one of her stingers, stabbing him in the chest. She coldcocks him with her fist and ducks a right hand from Cassie. Once more, D'Vorah launches her stinger, but Cassie catches the appendage. She blocks D'Vorah's strikes as best she can, but is forced backward by a punch to the face "First father, then daughter. Will they taste the same?" D'vorah taunts. They fight. Under normal circumstances, the fighting prowess and powers of D'Vorah would have been too much for Cassie to handle alone. But now the daughter of Johnny Cage fights with an aggression and strength unknown to her before. She relentlessly pummells the Kytinn, not stopping until she is well and truly unconscious at her feet. Cassie: You're the bug? I'm the windshield"
Outside in the Sky Temple courtyard, (name) Takeda Mileena and Jacqui are going up against the revenats Takeda and Jacqui hold their own agaisnt Smoke and Kung Lao, (name) finds herself fighting Liu Kang again while Mileena is up against Kitana. (name) is dong fine on her own as are the others but no one counted on Sindel sneaking up behind Mileena. (name) didn't notice until she heard that chilling scream her head whipped around and what she saw made her heart drop. Sindel had managed to distrate Mileena long enough for Kitana to shove he closed fan through Mileenas' chest "NOOO!" (name) screamed and kicked Liu Kang away then ran to them and absolutly smashed them into the wall behind themshe then ran back to Mileena, dropped to her knees and cradeled her head
"Mileena? speak to me!" she cried out Mileena slowly opened her eyes "P-Pretty bird..." she replied weekly tears welled up in Kaitlyns' eyes "don't worry we'll fix you up w-we'll get help" she said more so of trying to convince herself "Pretty bird we both know I won't make it" "don't talk like that please! please don't go away! we still have so much to do! w-we-" "Pretty bird i want you to listen to me very carefully...I-In the palace there is a hidden room...to...to enter it you need to press the only stone on the wall that with the lotus symbol...behind the tapastry" Mileena reaches for Kaitlyns hand, who snatches it up quickly, and places it on her cheek "p-promise me..." "I promise! I promise...please..." Mileena smiled "I love you my pretty bird" Kaitlyns eyes overflowed with tears as they left stains on her cheeks "I love you too, Beautiful" Mileena took her last breath and her hand fell back onto the ground.
Kaitlyns world fell apart in that one moment the sadness drained from her body and was replaced by rage "GRAAHHHHH" she let out a feral roar as she stood up and whipped around facin Kitana who had only just gotten up "YOU!" she charged at her. Kitana on instinct swiped her fan up hitting Kailyn in the face knocing her back a few steps she went to attack again but paused "you know me...and i know you" (name) let her see her face Kitanas eyes widen "(n)-(name)" taking the advantage (name) landed a hit on her knocking her to the ground she sat on kitanas stomache as she hit her in the face over and over and over again. it was just a blur and no noise could be heard as flashbacks of her and Mileena.when they fisrt met, finding eachother again, training together, sleeping in the same bed and her dying moments. (name) finally snapped out of ith when someone grabbed her from behind and threw her off. she hit the ground with a thud but quickly had arisen to face her thrower Liu Kang "lady (name)" he tried to speak to her "fuck off!" she hissed at him uppercutting him.
Back in the Jinsei Chamber, the insects burrowing into Johnny's face have all died once D'Vorah fell unconscious. He looks up to find his daughter trying to free him from the cocoon "Hey... Punkin..." Johnny whisper "I'm a little old for "Punkin"" Cassie tries to joke The cocoon proves to be tough for Cassie to open, but she still goes at it "No... Get... Shinnok" Johnny urged "But--" "I love you"He falls silent and his eyes close "Dad?" Cassie panics. Before she can check if Johnny has died, the corrupted form of Shinnok descends from the Jinsei onto the chamber floor itself, looking toward her "So you are the issue of Johnny Cage. Fitting that I exterminate his entire line" He chuckled out Cassie's fear at the sight of the fallen Elder God is quickly replaced by determination and resolve "You want him, you're gonna go through me" Cassie barks As Shinnok strides towards her, Cassie lets rip with several punches that he effortlessly blocks. One slips through, but it doesn't faze him. She throws a supergirl punch, but only hurts her hand when she punches his skull. Shinnok throws a light jab that almost floors Cassie before grabbing her by the throat and lifting her into the air. He throws a measured punch to her face that sends her flying across the chamber, just barely conscious "Yes, that's better. Watch, Miss Cage, as I rend your father's flesh" He summons magic into his palm and blasts Johnny square in the face with a red beam of power. This time, Johnny is unable to keep from screaming in pain. Cassie looks up and struggles to her knees as Shinnok breaks off the spell. "This is what awaits those who defy me: excruciating, exquisite death" He blasts Johnny again in the face with his magic, prompting more screams from him. Cassie gets back to her feet and charges forward "You son of a BITCH!" she screams. As she runs at Shinnok, the same green energy that surrounded her father twenty-five years ago envelops her as well. As Shinnok blasts her with his magic instead, she puts up her hands to block it. Like Johnny before her, the magic has no effect and she throws off the blast. She takes a moment to look at the glow on her body "Holy shit, it does run in the family!" "Your father's power will not save you. You cannot hope to survive!"
They fight. The battle is truly epic, with neither the enpowered Cassie or Shinnok getting any clear advantage for the majority of it. For what seems like an age, the daughter of Johnny Cage and the fallen Elder God fight with everything they have, but eventually Cassie Cage gains an advantage and with one final assault, she knocks Shinnok to the ground "You got Caged" As Shinnok rises, Cassie throws a knee that he blocks, but hits a kick that connects to his stomach. She follows through with a punch to his abdomen, an overhead punch to his head, a low roundhouse kick to his crotch and a knee to his face, staggering him. With a battle cry, Cassie lands one more punch to Shinnok's face and finishes him off with a somersaulting kick that leaves the fallen Elder God knocked out for the count. With Shinnok defeated, the green glow of power surrounding Cassie fades out. Kung Jin picks himself off the floor and walks over to her, noting that Shinnok is out like a lightbulb "That you? Nice" Kung Jin complimented "Cassandra Cage..." they turn their heads to Raiden, who is still imprisoned by the skeleton hand, which has since blackened slightly with Shinnok's defeat. Cassie and Jin run up to him "Put me... in the Jinsei" he whispered "what?" Cassie Questioned "But you're-- it-- it'll kill you!" Kung Jin tried to argue"Must... be... cleansed. Hurry" Raiden urged them. Together, Cassie and Jin support Raiden and walk him onto the floating rocks leading up to the Jinsei. He floats into the corrupted Jinsei and starts chanting in Japanese. His arms charge up with lightning that envelops his body. As Cassie and Jin look on with concern, he blasts Shinnok in the chest with a lightning bolt, lifting his unconscious form into the air. The lightning acts as a conduit, and Raiden begins to absorb the corrupted essence of Shinnok into his own body. He begins to grimace in pain, but does not stop the spell. Shinnok's demonic form is eventually restored to his original self, still unconscious and now no longer holding his amulet. With the power gone from Shinnok, Raiden cries out once more and blue essence expells itself from his body, back into the Jinsei. The chamber is completely filled with white light, so bright the entire screen whites out.
Outside of the Sky Temple, the revenants have been unable to beat Jacqui and Takeda. Everyone stops fighting as the corrupted cloud pouring out of the Jinsei Chamber dissipates, and the clouds above it begin to lose their blood red hue "We must withdraw" Liu Kang said to his revenats. Jacqui and Takeda look to the sky, smiles on their faces as sunlight breaks through once again. They only notice too late that a portal opens up that takes the revenants back to the Netherrealm. Nonetheless, this does nothing to their current joyous mood. Takeda puts a hand on Jacqui, and they both walk over to the temple, sitting down near the giant statue of Raiden, completely exhausted "we need a vacation" Takeda said "Poolside. Umbrella drinks" Jacqui replied They look at each other and smile, but soon those smiles dissapear as soon as they look to (name) who is holding Mileenas body close to her trying to hold in her tears. Takeda came up behind (name), sat on his knees and hugged her as did Jacqui. (name) let it all out and sobbed as her friends held onto her being her support they wouldn't let her go through this alone.
Back in the Jinsei Chamber, the lifeforce of Earthrealm is back to it's regular blue hue. Cassie Cage and Kung Jin both hold Raiden up and walk him back to the chamber floor. Raiden has fallen motionless from the ordeal and they set him down as gently as they can "Is he alive?" Cassie asked "Barely. I'll help him. Help your father" Cassie runs back to Johnny, still cocooned but alive. He smiles as he spots her "And to think... I was worried when you started dating" Johnny says smiling "Afraid I'd come home with someone like you?" "Funny, beautiful, saves the world. My work here is done" "This way! In here!" Sonya arrives in the chamber, flanked by Special Forces soldiers "Isolate Shinnok and D'Vorah. And get the medic!" she commands. She runs up to Cassie and Johnny, finally looking at her ex-husband with concern "We'll fix you up. Help is on the way" "You shoulda seen Cass. Wiped the floor with Shinnok" Johnny said smiling "I believe it. And you... you did a great job with your team, Johnny" "You hear that, Cass? She called me "Johnny"" Cassie smiles "I thought she might"
As the Cage family smile at one another, the camera pans up to the Jinsei, restored to all it's former glory. Cut to black. The final scene - partway through the credits - opens in the Netherrealm. Raiden stands in the throne room of a gigantic fortress, but it's not the Raiden we've seen earlier. He wears darker attire, his skin tone is darker, his eyes glow yellow instead of blue and most tellingly of all, Shinnok's Amulet is now worn on his chest. Who he is speaking to is not shown "Too long have I allowed Earthrealm to endure the horrors of war. Time and again we've defeated our enemies. But we've exacted no retribution. Demanded no remuneration. What have we gained for our mercy? More intrigue. More senseless violence. As the new rulers of the Netherrealm, heed me. No longer will I simply defend Earthrealm. I will seek out and destroy all who threaten it. No mercy will be shown. No quarter given" Raiden states as he opens up a satchel that he has been carrying and throws out the contents. It is the severed head of Shinnok - still alive and in terrible pain "Shinnok was an Elder God. Impossible to kill. There are fates worse than death" He teleports out of the fortress. The camera pans around the decapitated head of Shinnok to the people Raiden was speaking to - Liu Kang and Kitana, the Emperor and Empress of the Netherrealm. They both regard the head in silence. Cut to black.

What If Vlad & Danny Were Reincarnated as Ra's Al Ghul & Tim Drake?
Danny Phantom/Batman Crossover
Vlad and Danny are reincarnated as Ras al Ghul and Tim Drake. They don't have their memories, instead, they have their instincts. Ra's was born years before Tim. He felt something was missing and obsessed over the missing piece his whole life.
It went as usual Bruce disappeared, Tim went to find him, teamed up with the LoA and bested them. Ra's felt something spark in him. He began to feel familiar with Tim and his obsession with Tim started. Ra's just like in the past is a fruitloop and tried to clone Tim which resulted in the birth of a failed female clone named Timi who is also the reincarnation of Dani.
Like in the DP cannon, Timi betrays Ra's and joins Tim. Unlike DP cannon Tim adopts Timi and decided to be more responsible now that he has a kid. He decided they should both go to therapy. Someone in the super community recommended a therapist that is in the know, can keep secrets and is really good. Surprise surprise it's Jazz's reincarnation. Ofc they bond and whatnot, the bat fam found out a few months later and they were s h o o k. I mean they can't believe that Tim has a child, going to therapy and seems to have a whole new family. And they didn't even know about it!
They felt bad about what they'd been doing. You see, everyone knows what happened with the whole Robin being taken from him. When they found out he was right about Bruce being alive they tried to apologize to him. When it didn't work, they decided to give him some space so that he can "cool down". Ofc this made it seem like they were ignoring him, Tim got the 'message' and decided to slowly separate himself from the Bats. It worked especially since he had a new kid to take care of. And since he's been focusing solely on Timi he forgot to mention it to the YJ.
Bart and Cassie immediately loved her. They decided to be the Cool Aunt and Fun Uncle. Kon was absolutely shocked with Mom!Tim. He was already in love with Tim and seeing him as a parent, especially to a clone just like him, made him fall even deeper.
Kon tried to get Timi's blessing after a few times he spent with her. Timi, from out of nowhere, takes out kryptonite the size of her palm, it was enough to weaken Kon and prevent him from moving. She interrogates Kon asking him what his intentions were and what were his future plans with her Dad.
Timi was still Tim, Red Robin, the second (although every one of his friends disagree.) best detective in the world (they think he IS the best detective in the world. Period.). And while Timi isn't a carbon copy of her Dad she definitely got his smarts.
While that was going on Tim and the Bat family were having a serious conversation. About what happened, how Timi had come to be and why he never told them or asked for help. Of course, this is the part where Tim burst out laughing, "Why would I ask you guys for family help?". He starts describing how f-ed up their family was and how he's being ignored by the whole family. This is also the part where they start trying to heal.
Just as Timi was about to end the interrogation, Tim and the Bat fam found them. They were shocked and Tim promptly scooped Timi in his arms. He immediately started scolding her, asking her why she would do such a thing. And Timi said something along the lines of "But Daddy I had to make sure virtue was safe before I can give you to Kon!". Shocked faces everywhere.
Kon was still on the floor, blushing, wishing for the floor to eat him. Steph, Jason and Dick burst out laughing. Damian starts complimenting Timi on her interrogation skills and suggesting how to be better. Babs was getting it all on video for memories and is also teasing Tim who's brain seems to have malfunctioned. Bruce and Alfred smiled at the scenery, glad that the family is starting to heal.
The End
WOW! That became longer than I thought!
I couldn't figure out how to integrate Cas, Sam and Tucker into the story. In all the fanfics I've read Cas has always been by Tim's side. She would've helped him through all his hardships and that wasn't how I wanted things to be in my plot. And I just couldn't find a way to put Sam and Tucker in. I might make a part 2 of this. If I do there will definitely be more scenes of Ra's and Yasmine, and maybe Talia. I might be able to find a way to integrate Sam and Tucker. Maybe Sam should be Prudence and Tucker would either be Owens or Z. Comments are appreciated. This is the first time I'm doing this.

Big Sky S3 E3
Come chat with me about the episode below the cut:
So we learned just an inkling more about Beau this episode. He talked a bit about the differences between Montana and Texas, which I found entertaining. We still didn't get anything about his ex-wife or his divorce, which I'm dying to know about.
Can I just say how much I'm loving the empathy he shows to the suspects they deal with. Like how he was in the first episode with the Mom who just wanted to see her daughter before she was taken away. He told Hoyt to give her time to hug her daughter and say goodbye.
Then in this episode the way he was with Ivan was very sweet. In the beginning, the way he took the chance that Ivan wasn't going to shoot them, putting his gun away to show that belief and his encouraging little, "Come on Ivan." we're so sweet. Then at the end, convincing him that the swindler wasn't worth going to jail over. I love that empathetic streak in him.
I have to say I was very disappointed that Beau didn't get to punch Avery In the teeth and that he doesn't even know what happened!! I certainly hope he discovers it at some point and gets to use him like a punching bag!
I like Emily a lot and I like that she tried to reach out to her Dad with the Sat phone that she was denied. I really like how tenacious she is, and that she went after Avery for being super sketchy. I also love the little dig she gave Avery when she was saying she wanted to go back for knife because it was special to her. "My FATHER gave it to me." Loved that.
Oh, and Avery is sketchy af!! I so wish Emily could reach Beau because if she could reach him, her concerns might even end up helping Cassie and Denise reach the right conclusions.
Ooh, the scene where Cassie almost saw the backpackers body in Walt's truck?!! She was so close! That was a great tense scene!
I don't know what to make of Cormac, he kinda skeeves me out, but I can't tell whether the show wants me to feel that way, because he's a red herring, it because there really is something up with him! Aaahh!!
All the scenes with Walt and Sunny continue to be creepy af. Their dynamic is so dysfunctional and weird!! Love it!
Now to the stuff with Jenny x Beau x Cassie!
I appreciate that they're trying to do a slow burn with Jenny and Beau, and as I stated, I will take Jensen Ackles in a love scene with ANYONE!! But I really prefer him and Cassie. I like their relationship more, but I also just prefer Cassie's character to Jenny's. I just can't really like Hoyt. It's partly my issues with Kathryn Winnick, but also, I just find her character kind of abrasive and unlikeable most of the time. With Cassie, she's a badass and she gets the job done, but she's also warm and caring. Jenny always just makes me wanna slap her a little. Lol!
I did find some sympathy for the character though in this episode when she was talking with her Mom, cause you can see she really wants to trust her and a part of her wants to think her Mom came back, at least partly, to see her. So when she finds out, nope it was just a scam, I felt bad for her.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the episode, please let me know yours!
P.S. I had to "rewind" and rewatch a couple great shots of Beau's ass - multiple times in this episode. I also found it remarkably hot when Ivan was telling him to get back down, or he'd shoot him, and Beau was just like, "No." And then when Ivan is like, "wtf did you say?" again Beau is just stone faced, and like, "I said, no." It was just such a badass move!!
I reiterate, Beau Arlen is gonna kill me.

Double edged scalpel ch. 7
Ch.1 ch.2 ch.3 ch.4 ch.5 ch.6
Summary: in which Cassandra gets bullied and other sappy shenanigans
---
"Oh Nicole dear, so happy to see you again!" Duke's voice was cheerful as ever, tone masterfully crafted over years of being a businessman.
Nicole, taking small steps inside the ornate and now full of items room, greeted him with uncharacteristic giddiness.
"Duke! How's business?"
"Same as always, I'll be heading to Beneviento later tonight to deliver some tools for her," he took a long drag of his cigar and, noticing green eyes scanning over multiple items and said, "I also have your order."
With a childish grin on her face, she approached him, hands shuffling inside the small bag attached to her belt that all staff members had. She pulled out the money owed for her package and, in return, the Duke placed a decently sized box in her arms. With an oof she shifted it in a less precarious position, it's heavy contents seeming to plot against her small frame.
"Unfortunately I can't stay, duty calls. But thank you Duke."
"No worries, I do understand that your employers can be quite," he took another drag of his cigar, looking for the right word. "...demanding"
Nicole chuckled. That was one way to put it.
"Well until next time dear. Or if you find yourself in need of something else, I'll be here until six."
---
She was only wearing a long white towel when she heard a knock on the door. Assuming it was another maid, or even Anita inquiring about whether or not she'd be joining the rest of them for dinner, she opened the door just a crack.
It was a surprise to see none other than Cassandra standing there, her elegant frame in odd contrast with the modest corridor. She flung the door open, letting the brunette inside and took a quick glance down the hall, making sure no maid was on the floor after fainting due to fright.
"What are you doing here?"
"Aw, are you not happy to see me?" She was pouting, but her tone was joking.
Nicole rolled her eyes, but the small smile on her lips betrayed that she was indeed happy to see her. Cassandra only laughed instead, a beautiful melodious laugh, so unlike the dark cackles heard by prisoners down in the dungeons.
"Just sit down, I need to get dressed," Nicole pointed to the bed before moving to the small dresser and pulling out a clean uniform.
Cassandra went to sit on the slightly disheveled bed, eyes following the redhead's form as she let the towel drop to her feet and started to put on the various layers of her uniform. Then golden eyes darted to the box sitting on the bed. The tape sealing it had been cut not long after Nicole brought it back to her room to make sure all its contents made it safely. Not that she didn't trust the Duke, but postal service was postal service.
"What's this?" Cassandra inquired, trying to read the label but having no success as it had been scribbled over with a marker.
Nicole stilled for a moment, hands frozen on her white button up. She cleared her throat and shyly admitted:
"Actually that's for you. Do open it if you want."
Cassandra's eyes widened, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks. The gesture had really caught her off guard. She gingerly lifted the lid, inspecting it's contents for a moment and then hummed.
"And here I was thinking you like my hair. With how much you love to pull on it and all that."
Nicole, now fully clothed and sporting a deep blush, marched to her and plucked the two boxes of red hair dye from gloved hands. She placed them on her nightstand and, with her voice just slightly more high pitched, she turned to the brunette.
"Those are mine, I meant the rest of it." And, after a chuckle, "I mean have you seen my roots? They're horrible!"
Cassandra only gave her a deadpan look and, after a long moment, said: "I think your hair is beautiful."
She didn't wait for a reply, not that it would be anything more than a stammered mumble of course. Instead she chuckled and returned her attention to the box. She examined the rest of its contents and then gingerly lifted one of the few tomes inside. The cover was glossy and malleable, it's pages shiny and with a distinct typography smell to it. It was so unlike her other books, it's pristine white state making it feel extremely out of place in the castle. She glanced at Nicole inquisitively.
"I do appreciate the gift, don't misunderstand me, but surely you know there's a small bookshop's worth of medical books in this castle."
"With all due respect, from what I've seen most of them are at least somewhat outdated. Interesting, yes, but I thought you'd like to learn something more...modern." Then she pulled out another book. "This is the same one I used while studying forensic pathology. It would make teaching you some things easier. Uh… assuming you want that."
Nicole averted her gaze, suddenly unsure of the usefulness of her gift. Cassandra however grabbed her chin between two fingers and pulled her gaze back on her. She smiled, finding the shy demeanor beyond endearing.
"I'd love that."
A small smile appeared on thin lips and Nicole leaned in to kiss Cassandra. It was soft and short, but no less intimate than the deep kisses they shared so many times in Cassandra's bed.
They had to go anyway.
---
Let's go to the library, Cassandra said. It'll be empty, she said.
When Cassandra swung open the intricate door, only to find the other two sisters lounging on one of the couches, it's not like they could do a one eighty and leave the room. That would've been both impolite and highly suspicious.
Instead, Cassandra grabbed her arm protectively and led them to the reading spot farthest from the other two. They placed one of the textbooks on the small desk and Cassandra took out a notebook. This would've been a lot more fruitful with an actual body on hand, but there were still a couple days until the human flesh supply had to be replenished and Cassandra was beyond eager to start on some things. So, for now, they had to settle for theory alone.
It took all of five minutes for the other two sisters to make their way to their desk. Daniela had a giddy yet curious expression on her face, while Bela seemed as unreadable as ever, if not for a glint in her eyes that betrayed her interest.
"Whatcha dooooing?" Came Daniela's voice, who cocked her head not unlike a curious puppy would while looking at the book's contents.
"Working," Cassandra replied, a slight growl accompanying her words.
"Could've fooled me," Bela spoke from behind the youngest sister, eyeing the hand protectively placed on Nicole's waist.
Cassandra snapped her eyes at the blonde, looking ready to throw her notebook at her head but Bela ignored her sister's ire and addressed Nicole instead.
"What are you studying?"
"I uh- just some basic anatomy concepts. Thought it would be a good idea to start with the things that the older books in the castle don't cover."
Bela only hummed, grabbed an ornate chair nearby, and plopped herself at the desk, opposite from the pair. Daniela mimicked her sister, but instead chose to sit down right by Nicole on the small couch. It took more willpower than she would admit not to glue herself to Cassandra's side when Daniela's face came uncomfortably close so she could look over the book's diagrams. She stood still as a statue though. After a couple seconds of silence and Nicole trying to figure out what she was supposed to do, Daniela drew her head back, looking at her with what was possibly the most serious expression she had seen on the youngest sister.
"You do realize we're not going to hurt you right? How could we lay a finger on our dear sister's lover hmm?"
Nicole's breath caught in her throat. She wasn't sure if it was due to the word used to describe her or how Daniela apparently knew that she was utterly terrified of her. Cassandra sighed beside her and, seeming to at least partially read Nicole's thoughts, clarified:
"Your heartbeat."
Oh. Yeah. Yeah her heart was beating a million miles an hour. And apparently the other three vampiric occupants of the room were able to hear it loud and clear. It did very little to ease her mind.
"Please do calm down, it feels like someone is having drumming lessons. Bad ones," Bela complained, head resting in one of her hands like she was already bored.
"Then shove a sock in your ears," Cassandra snapped.
Bela simply leaned back in her seat and stretched her arms above her head. "And risk not hearing my beloved sisters sing along to some pop song?"
Cassandra shut her mouth, a blush now slowly spreading across her cheeks while Daniela burst out into laughter. Even Nicole couldn't help betraying the brunette and letting out a giggle.
"I didn't know you could sing."
"I can't."
"Au contraire dear Cassie! Should I remind you of the last time Dragostea din tei came on the radio? The pathos!" Daniela reached over Nicole's lap to lightly shake her sister's knee through her giggles.
Cassandra only let out a long groan, face now hidden in her palms. "I hate you both."
"Mhm, we love you too," came Bela's reply, accompanied by a chuckle.
Nicole couldn't keep a small laugh while she snaked her arm behind the brunette to show some form of support against the merciless assailants. Maybe not a complete betrayal.
The scene really had something deep within her heart aching beautifully. It reminded her of the countless times she and Alex would mercilessly tease each other, but still have each other's backs through thick and thin. And for this familiarity to come from people that any sane person would consider bloodthirsty monsters? Hell, maybe they should start considering her a monster too, for the only word she could use to describe them in that moment was endearing.
"So," Bela lightly clapped her gloved hands. "Now that your pulse isn't giving me a headache anymore, what are we doing?"
She had a confident smirk on her face, but her eyes betrayed curiosity. Same for Daniela and, although mixed with a hint of annoyance, Cassandra. She opened the book in front of her, one of general human anatomy, and decided that the digestive system would be a good enough starting point.
---
Their little impromptu lesson didn't last more than two hours. Two hours that proved to Nicole just how oddly human all three sisters can be. Of course she had gotten familiar with Cassandra, intimately so, but the other two still felt like two looming monsters hiding in the shadows. At least up until now.
Bela seemed oddly intrigued by Nicole's explanation, although unlike Cassandra, she seemed to view it more like a story than anything. Daniela seemed slightly more interested, asking questions here and there and even starting to giggle like a middle schooler when they got to the rectum section. That got an eye roll from the other two. Nicole just laughed, finally understanding Mrs Hawkins, her private biology teacher from before she was allowed to step foot in any public school.
After they were done, Bela simply stood up and bid them good night. Danila instead excitedly proposed the skeletal system for next time and picked up the books she abandoned earlier. Then, with a small tower of tomes she went through a door tucked at the very back of the room. Her study, Cassandra had pointed out as they made their way out of the library.
"I didn't know your sisters were interested in medicine too." Nicole kept her voice low, almost as if talking too loudly would disturb the shadowy hallways.
"More or less. Daniela likes it and has a bit of hands-on practice but she has her nose in romance novels more often than not. Bela finds it interesting but botany is what she really loves. That and classic lit." She added the last part with a grimace and Nicole had to wonder which author had offended her personally.
Before she could continue that train of thought though, her gaze moved to the windows, the cloudless sky beyond thick glass panels full of twinkling stars. Her mind kept going back to a few hours earlier and at what Daniela had said. Lover. Did Cassandra truly see her as one or was the youngest sister just being her over the top self. Did she see Cassandra this way? Nicole had not allowed herself to dwell on that up until now, the idea that the brunette saw her as more than an over glorified lab partner with whom she occasionally scratched an itch seemed almost laughable. But the small gestures of affection shown in ways Cassandra seemed to know best were undeniably there. And the familiar flutter in her chest at each of said gestures was also undeniably there.
"What's wrong?"
Cassandra's voice, accompanied by the slight echo through the empty hallway, snapped Nicole out of her thoughts.
"Oh um- nothing." She sounded as convincing as someone trying to sell you a fork while showing you a spoon.
And Cassandra didn't seem to buy it. She moved in front of the redhead, walking backwards with no concern over possible furniture to collide into along the way.
"You always get this… face when something's bothering you."
"I do not-" the indignation in her tone was weak, little more than an attempt to change the subject.
"Mhmm you do. You normally look focused. Kind of like, if someone tried to scare you by throwing an eyeball at you, you'd laugh." She would. "Now? Now you look like a rabbit that has no time to run and is just laying low hoping whatever's hunting it passes by."
Nicole shut up for a moment, only looking at the brunette in front of her incredulously. Maybe she was far more attentive than she gave her credit for.
"Uh. Just thinking." At a raised dark eyebrow, the no shit went unsaid, so Nicole tried to elaborate. "About earlier. When we were with your sisters and Daniela uh- Daniela called me your lover."
Saying that the words felt awkward on her tongue was close to the year's biggest understatement. It felt like pulling out teeth would be an easier task. Nicole had never been good with her words, having learned since childhood to keep her mouth shut. But the fact that Cassandra seemed to share her struggle brought some semblance of comfort.
"And?" As if they were talking about the weather.
"And… was she right in describing me as such?"
She couldn't help a small gulp when the brunette stopped walking, looking at her with a frown. Any sane person would be at the very least somewhat afraid in this situation. Sanity however was scarce these days as Nicole was afraid, though not of the bodily harm that may come from her inquiry, but rather of Cassandra's answer.
"Nicole, your tongue has been in my mouth." Amongst many other places.
The redhead's cheeks turned a slight shade of crimson and she mumbled for an answer. She wasn't sure how to tell her that sleeping together did not automatically make them lovers. But then again, Cassandra's thoughts remained a mystery more than anything.
Thankfully the brunette took the metaphorical reins of the conversation and stepped forward. She wrapped her hands around Nicole's arms, gentler than one would imagine possible from her, and bent down to whisper no more than an inch away from her ear.
"I'll have you know, I'm not particularly fond of letting anyone I don't deem important touch me. Especially not the way you do."
The words made something flutter in Nicole's chest, an unfamiliar and comforting warmth. Said warmth got chipped away at the slightest bit when Cassandra pulled back to look her in the eyes.
"Should I take it that it's not mutual then?" Cassandra's tone was nonchalant, almost as if she didn't truly care about the answer. She could keep doing whatever she wanted either way, afterall who was going to stop her? But to someone who got familiar with all her small quirks and habits, the waver in her voice was more than clear.
"No." The world slipped from her lips with no hesitation.
No hesitation, because the more she thought about it, and she didn't need to think a lot mind you, the more Nicole realized that she couldn't remember a time when she felt the way she did here. Sure the initial threat of death looming over her head was anything but pleasant, but once that melted into affection and nights spent in Cassandra's arms the thought of leaving didn't as much as graze her mind.
"No, no. It is," she repeated, more certainty making its way into her tone.
At that Cassandra smiled. A small, almost shy one would say if they knew her well enough, smile. Her shoulders seemed to lose some of their tension when she leaned down again, her lips stopping not even an inch away. Nicole wasted no time leaning forward, their mouths meeting in a kiss that mixed softness and need beautifully. Their lips slid against each other until, surprisingly, it was Cassandra to pull back and sigh.
"Come sleep, we have some cutting up to do in the morning."
Nicole frowned. "Tomorrow? Wasn't that supposed to be due in a few days?"
A devilish grin appeared on black lips, fangs shimmering ominously in the low light. "Bela caught a foolish man-thing sneaking around the forest on the castle grounds. She's really excited to turn this one into a nice steak."
The redhead only let out an oh in acknowledgement. Foolish indeed. At least they could finally put into practice a few autopsy tricks Nicole had been itching to show her.
She let herself be guided back to Cassandra's chambers and into her bed, that she had grown intimately familiar with. The last thing she felt before falling asleep was the brunette's cool skin, pressed against her own. A welcomed comfort among the myriad of soft pillows that surrounded them. Nicole wondered briefly if being undead meant it was hard to keep yourself warm, but the thought quickly slipped away as she fell into a dreamless sleep.

Marriage Story, 2019
Dir. Noah Baumach
"[Charlie] What I love about Nicole. She makes people feel comfortable about even embarrassing things. She really listens when someone is talking. Sometimes she listens too much for too long. She's a good citizen. She always knows the right thing to do when it comes to difficult family shit. I get stuck in my ways and she knows when to push me and when to leave me alone. She cuts all our hair. She's always inexplicably brewing a cup of tea that she doesn't drink. And it's not easy for her to put away a sock or close a cabinet or do a dish, but she tries for me. Nicole grew up in LA around actors and directors and movies and TV, and is very close to her mother, Sandra, and Cassie, her sister. Nicole gives great presents. She is a mother who plays, really plays. She never steps off playing or says it's too much. And it must be too much some of the time. She's competitive. She's amazing at opening jars because of her strong arms, which I always found very sexy. She keeps the fridge over-full. No one is ever hungry in our house. She can drive a stick. After that movie, All Over the Girl, she could have stayed in LA and been a movie star, but she gave up to do theater with me in New York. She's brave. She's a great dancer. Infectious. She makes me wish I could dance. She always says when she doesn't know something or hasn't read a book or seen a film or a play, whereas I fake it or say something like "I haven't seen that in a while". My crazy ideas are her favorite things to figure out how to execute. She's my favorite actress.
[Nicole] What I love about Charlie. Charlie is undaunted. He never lets other people's opinions or any setbacks keep him from what he wants to do. Charlie eats like he's trying to get it over with and like there won't be enough food for everyone. A sandwich is to be strangled while devoured. But he is incredibly neat and I rely on him to keep things in order. He's energy-conscious. He doesn't look in the mirror too often. He cries easily in movies. He’s very self-sufficient : he can darn a sock and cook himself dinner and iron a shirt. He rarely gets defeated which I feel like I always do. Charlie takes all of my moods steadily. He doesn’t give into them or make me feel bad about them. He's a great dresser and never looks embarrassing, which is hard for a man. He's very competitive. He loves being a dad. He loves all the things you’re supposed to hate, like the tantrums, the waking up at night. It’s almost annoying how much he likes it, but then it's mostly nice. He disappeares into his own world. He and Henry are alike that way. He can tell people they have food in their teeth or on their face in a way that doesn't make them feel bad. Charlie is self-made. His parents, I only met them once, but he told me there was a lot of alcohol and some violence in his childhood. He moved to New York from Indiana with no safety net and now he's more New Yorker than any New Yorker. He's brilliant at creating family out of whoever is around. With the theater company he casts a spell that made everyone feel included. No one, not even an intern, was unimportant. He could remember all the inside jokes, he's extremely organized and thorough, he's very clear about what he wants, unlike me who can't always tell. (...) I fell in love with him two seconds after I saw him. And I'll never stop loving him, even though it doesn't make sense anymore."

we’re not their heroes
Tagging: @kxnel, @supersxn, & Kara Zor-El When: August 1st, 2020 Where: Jon and Kon’s Apartment What: The Superfam falls apart at the seams; Kara needs her head checked. Warnings: None? Word Count: 4,217
KARA: Their apartment was always so full of life. The windows were lit a bright yellow, and the sound of an indignant 'hey!' followed by laughter could easily be heard from Kara's position outside. They sounded untouched, like maybe they were stealing a moment to just be brother's in the chaos that had become New York City. (Didn't they know the world was ending? Didn't they know she was losing it? And she can't stop it, she can't, she can't–)
Brothers. They both held the last name Kent, and something about it ground uncomfortably in her chest. So human, when all Kara wanted was Krypton. They were suppose to be El's, they wore her family crest, but they kept Clark's new last name. For a moment, she toyed with flying away. It's not like she needed them, right?
There was something else, something that shouldn't be there anymore. A small part that was screaming, of course she needed them. Of course they were family. Of course she loved them, and was proud of them, and–
It won, just a little. It gained ground where other thoughts had failed, and she found herself standing in their living room in an instant. Long gone was her suit of red and blue, replaced with a dark black, her crest but a shadow of red just above her heart. "Hey, boys. Having fun?"
KON: The night, for once, actually felt kind of normal. No work, no robberies, no multi-dimensional baddies and, surprisingly, no Cassie pulling the two brothers away from each other. He had missed it.
(Not that Kon didn’t love the nights the three of them spent together, a movie of Jon’s choice playing while the two lovebirds cuddled on the couch, much to Jon’s dismay.)
But with Cassie moving in Conner felt like he needed a day just to be with his brother and so he had wrangled him into helping rearrange and repaint his bedroom as a surprise for his girlfriend with the promise of burgers, pizza, and the alien ale that tasted like pomegranates he usually had stocked in the fridge. The day had been good. Great, even, and Kon threw his head back in a full bellied laugh as he watched Jon try and fit the abomination he called a ‘pizza ball’ into his mouth.
“Get that away from me,” he chided, pushing at his brother as his head shook. “you’re disgus-Kara?”
He sat up straight, his brows furrowed in confusion as he slapped at the back of Jon’s head to get him to look at the woman standing in their living room.
“I guess, Jon’s gone and ruined a perfectly good meat-lovers. What’s, ah- with the suit? You doing some secret spy stuff without us?”
JON: There had been a few hiccups with the new living situation, naturally, but all and all it wasn't bad. He knew what he was getting into when he had moved in with Kon to begin with. They made it work and Jon was grateful for his brother actually making an effort to hang out with him outside of his the time the three of them spent together. There was always that lingering sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Jon had come to this universe and knew no one, had no one who knew him. He had to build his life from the ground up and it wasn't the same. It'd never be the same, but it had become a new normal. One he had become content with.
The new normal included trying to annoy Conner as much as possible, pushing his attempt of several slices of pizza smooshed into a ball at his brother. "Try it!" He said through a mouthful and swallowed, laughing at the disgusted look on the older man's face. He went to grab some napkins, letting out a noise of annoyance when his head was hit. "Quit it!" He shoved back at Conner, looking over and faltering when he saw Kara. Something just felt...off. He didn't like it. "Hey, Kara." There was an attempt at keeping the wariness out of his tone, but Jon wasn't sure he was doing such a good job at it.
"Stealth mode?" Jon attempted to joke, his grin more of a grimace. He wasn't sure what it was that was rubbing him wrong about this, but it was insistent. "You know we love to be included. What's goin' on?"
"Mm, no, not really." Kara stepped further into the apartment, angling herself to face the two of them, now up with their attention on her. Kon looked confused, and Jon looked wary. He always had been smart, for all his jokes and memes. They both were. She'd know just how smart before the night was over.
"I'm not all that interested in stealth right now. In fact, I'm not all that interested in hiding at all." She picked at a loose string on their couch (they really needed a new one), and shrugged a shoulder; if she looked uninterested, it was an act. "Clark was the first one to wear our primary colors, to plaster our family crest on his chest for the world to idolize and hate all at the same time.
"We've been hiding behind it ever since, and I'm tired of it." She looked up. 'Our,' she said. They looked so much like Clark. And Kon, there was more Luthor in him than he knew. The curve of his nose, the angle of his eyebrows. She had to find the El, she had to. "I talked with Magneto tonight. He had a...proposition, one I'd like to extend to the both of you."
KON: She seemed.. off, he guessed would be the most succinct way to put it. Almost cold, certainly less of her usual sunshine and more thunderclouds. Ominous with a hint of something darker flickering just behind her cool demeanor that Kon didn't like. Suddenly, as his eyes narrowed, following Kara's fluid movements through their apartment, Kon felt like he was standing on the edge of a precipice. The feeling of unease crackling in the air around them.
It reminded him far too much of the silence that permeated the air just before Superboy Prime had thrown him through a skyscraper and the through had him reaching an arm across the table, absent-mindedly tensing as he spared a glance at Jon.
"Yeah, we're hiding all right. All dressed in primary colors and whizzing through the goddamn sky." He rolled his eyes. He wasn't really sure what Kara was getting at. Sure, the crest was commercialized to the point that sometimes even he felt queasy just looking at it but that was the price you paid when you offered the world a symbol. It wasn't really theirs anymore.
Maybe that was the problem.
Maybe that choice should have fallen on Kara to make rather than Clark. She was the only one who looked at it and saw anything other than the laundry list of accomplishments that the four supers had racked up, after all, but this... this seemed to be more than just an offhand complaint.
"Magneto?" He snapped, his head tilting as he racked his mind for anything that would make this make sense and coming up empty. "Kara, what the fuck is going on? What is all of this about?"
JON: There was a certain sense of foreboding that overtook Jon. There was an arm reaching in front of him and he exchanged a look with his brother. It was obvious that he felt the same inkling of dread as he did. "That's the chance we take, right?" He spoke up, the words feeling hard to force out all the same. It felt like a wrong step in the opposite direction, enough tension in the air it could just snap, but he already said it. There wasn't really much backing out of it now. "We're only—" human. Except they're not. Conner and Jon may be half human unlike Kara who was full Kryptonian, but they all were just as flawed as the human race. Try as they may, even they couldn't be perfect. "...we're not always going to make the right choice, but we don't hide behind that. Behind the symbol. It humanizes us to them, does it not? I think that gives them more reason to love than hate."
Jon hoped at least.
Kara wasn't...she wasn't making sense. There had to be a reason, anything. Something, but he came up empty. "We're colluding with terrorists now?" The words were harsh and biting, but he couldn't help it. "What could he possibly have to offer that would make sense for us to join in on the slightest? The death of the human race? That's not us." He felt sick, stomach churning and heart dropping to his feet.
KARA: Her eyes darted to Jon, hands clenching in the fabric of their couch quick enough to tear, but she didn't notice. They were tense, but she just didn't notice.
"What have we ever gained from appearing human to them?" She forced herself to relax, stepping back with her arms crossed, chin lifting. She wasn't human, she had never been human. Jeremiah could shove glasses on her face and she could stumble through her day to day, but that could never erase who she was.
"They only care as long as we're helping them. And when we're not? They're yelling on street corners, demanding our signatures, or conscripting us into service." Her fingers clenched against her arms, breath pulling in fast. "And do you know what happens when they figure out who we are beneath the symbol? They come after the people we love."
Kara thought of Alex, in a tank. Bloody smiles and blackmail.
"They only love us insofar as we can serve them. We're always hiding, don't you get it?" Somewhere, she remembered maybe she didn't mind so much. Maybe she did these things because for all the world took, it also gave. It gave her a sister, and friends, and the two boys in front of her she loved so much.
But those thoughts barely took purchase, the slope ever steeper. "I'm done. I'm done trying to find a home among a people who don't want me here. I'm done pretending to be something I'm not. I'm done shoving Krypton under a rug. Magneto has offered his help, in exchange for a little help from me."
She was done, she was done, she was done, "I'm going to be destroying some landmarks tomorrow, starting with the bridges into the city. If the humans want to be afraid of us, they should really have an honest reason."
She softened, just around the edges. "I'm going to make us a home again. I'd like you there with me."
KON: His jaw tensed at her words, his teeth grinding together as he took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself, the obvious and biting but we are human dying in his throat. He had never seen Kara like this and the longer she lingered in their apartment the more confused Kon got.
Had something happened? Had the two Superboys missed something world-changing while they had enjoyed the little bubble the apartment provided?
He opened his mouth to retort, to defend humanity from whatever this was. Her words were benign but the thinly veiled contempt sat strangely with him but before he could she was off again and Kon's mouth snapped shut.
"Serve them? Is that how you feel?" He laughed, breathless, and in disbelief at her words. He understood how callous people could be. How fruitless a constant battle for justice could get when all you were was a streak in the sky and a smile on a 'Congrats, Grad!' card but that was nothing, nothing in comparison to the knowledge that his planet, his family, his home was safe and that he did his part to keep it that way.
"So what? You want to pull a Parker and go public or something? Join a terror cell and, what, teach kindergarteners Kryptonian? Listen to yourself right now, Kara, you're talking like a fanatic."
But maybe she had a bit of a point. It wasn't like he had exactly gone out of his way to learn about Krypton. Even the few simple phrases Kara had taught him were only vaguely remembered and rarely practiced in favor of the few curses he knew, which, yeah, probably wasn't the most respectful thing but that could be solved with like, a TedTalk or something, not by doing Magneto favors. What was the endgame?
And then the other shoe dropped. Kon shook his head, the very thought of what Kara was saying causing him to shake.
"You can't. Y-you wouldn't." But, would she? There didn't seem to be any hesitation in her voice. The sentence rolling off her tongue as calmly and as nonchalant as if she had given them her coffee order.
"Any home built on bloodied soil is one I'd spit on gleefully." He spat, his hand grabbing onto the back of Jon's shirt collar in a blur and pushing him back into his seat. "I don't know if he- if he did something to you or-or-or if this is some unresolved angsty bullshit that you're going through right now but, c'mon, Kara. This isn't- you can't actually believe this is right, can you?"
JON: It was like watching a train wreck right before you and you couldn't do anything to stop it. They were human as much as they were Kryptonian. Was that something Kara despised about them? It was enough to make his stomach churn. Half-breed. That's what they were. What he had been called by the eradicator on his earth. It felt like Kara was slipping further and further away from their grasp, spouting out stuff that just didn't make sense. What had happened to her? What did they miss?
"We're not some—some servants for them, Kara." Jon forced out, looking bewildered and starting to tip towards angry. "We do it because we want to, we have an obligation to help. It's the right thing to do. Maybe you're right in the sense that they...they don't thank us enough, but what else am I supposed to do? Sit around with all this ability to help and do nothing?" From a young age his father had tried to steer him away from the hero life, tried to shelter him, but it was his mother who shook him from this false idea that Jon could somehow ignore his powers, the responsibility that would come with them.
Watching the pair go back and forth was enough to get power rippling under Jon's skin, teeth gritting and grinding together. He tried not to get too emotional, let his anxiety and confusion get the best of him. His solar flare wasn't something he could control, had almost killed people before when he was younger. He bit his tongue to keep it under control—as best he could. Maybe Jon could've done better, could've tried to learn more from his dad and from Kara. Had she always felt so alienated from this planet? From them?
Jon's blood went cold. The tension and dread in the air snapped in the moment, charging it with something else entirely. He opened his mouth and was shoved back into his seat before he could. He let out a grunt and glared. Kon was trying to protect him, he knew this, but he wasn't a child. Not anymore. He hadn't been for a long time. "You can't think it's a good idea, can you? Honestly, tell me what you plan to get out of this other than the blood of thousands of people on your hands, Kara. Not Magneto. That's all you." Maybe it was harsh, but he had to break through. Somehow, anyway he could. "All because of what, Kara? Everything can't possibly be bad? Have pushed you to this? There's all these people who do appreciate and try to make this a home for you. We're not Krypton, we never will be, and I'm sorry. I really am. You deserved a true home, but even Krypton would have it faults. Just like Earth does." Standing from his seat, Jon's eyes turned red as he looked at his cousin...his family, the threat of his heat vision there but not acted on yet. He didn't want to hurt her, never his family. "I'm not letting you put our family in the Raft because you won't give humanity a chance. Because that'd what they'd do, Kara. They'd target us if you do that. I know you don't want to do this, you can't want to do this." He wasn't entirely sure if this pushing was a good idea, but something had to make her see she was acting completely out of character—how bad an idea this was.
KARA: "Wouldn't give humanity a chance?"
Kara pivoted around until she faced the window. There was a whole city out there, lights lit behind a sea of windows like stars. "Oh, I've given humanity a chance." Her voice curled around the words, a low simmer bubbling behind them. "I've tried for years. I wore glasses and fumbled and made myself smaller and smaller. Then I did exactly like you said, Jon. All these powers and I've done nothing but help them. And how have they responded?"
She turned back towards them, hands clenched at her sides. "They waged war. They made papers and laws and nooses that just get tighter and tighter because we're not their heroes, we're their monsters. Not because we've ever tried to hurt them, but because we're different. That's all we've ever been, is different."
Rao, Kara was so tired of squeezing herself into a mold for which she was never meant.
"All I wanted was a place to call home." Her voice broke just around the edges. Cat Grant had always said to find the anger behind the anger, and Kara only had to question it for as long as it took her to remember she would never fit Earth's standard for normal. "A-and this planet just won't let me."
Her breath left in a shaky huff, and she had to remind herself to pull in another. She wanted to fly through the Earth, rip it layer from layer until it stopped hurting so much. "I shouldn't have expected you to understand. You don't have to pretend to be human. You grew up here. You know their language, their– all their references. You only know one God, you–
"You're so human." She met the glow in Jon's eyes head on, gaze shifting between him and his brother. Their actions colored them alien, but they weren't Kryptonian, either. "I'm doing this. You choose whether or not you'll be obstacles."
KON: "So they stumble, they fail and your next step is falling in league with a genocidal maniac?" The words were said in pure exasperation, his breath coming out in short puffs that might've been laughs in any other context. He watched her turn, watched her steel herself in her resolve as she looked out their window, though at what he couldn't say.
Maybe she was searching for Rao in the night sky, maybe she was sneering at the city below, maybe she was looking at her own reflection and pondering what had led her there, maybe, perhaps, she wasn't looking at much of anything at all.
Kon's jaw clenched, his throat tightened and he could feel a white hot prickle in the corner of his eyes as she continued to speak. He could hear the mix of anger and pain in her voice and while it broke his heart, while the very sound of it had him wanting to pull her and Jon, hell even Clark, into his arms to try and squeeze together the broken pieces into something that wasn't constantly on the verge of falling apart there was a larger part of him that was screaming that he needed to get away.
She was dangerous, stronger than him and Jon even if they worked together and she seemed to be holding on by a thread that was slowly unraveling right in front of them both.
"It's- it's not humanity's fault that you chose a lame alter-ego!"
His mouth snapped shut once more, his eyes narrowing as he tried to control his breathing. The last thing he wanted was for Kara to know that, in all honesty, he was scared. Terrified, even.
Because, at the end of the day, Kara was right. The registry was unconstitutional at best and the criminalization and demonization of anyone they thought as a threat. But that wasn't what most people wanted.
"Kara..." he tried, his tense posture softening enough for him to reach out toward her before her eyes landed back on them both. In an instant it seemed that the air had been sucked out of the room and he cursed Jon for his short-sightedness. He loved his brother but he was going to get them both killed.
"Sit." He ordered Jon, his tone making it clear that there would be no argument before he met Kara head on, his own eyes glowing in a hallow warning considering how dim the light pooling in his eyes looked in direct comparison to Kara's.
He could feel the heat of them even from across the table and he swallowed shakily.
"Don't you dare put the weight of your choices on our shoulders," he seethed.
He was tired, tired and heartbroken and worried sick by the blank look on Jon's face.
"You're family," he said, "and we love you. Please don't lead where we can't follow."
He glanced back down at Jon before running a hand through his hair. "Get out." He finally said. He tried to hold her gaze but found that he couldn't, his eyes dropping to the table.
JON: watched the pair in varying levels of horror and uncertainty. He knew he could be impulse, shortsighted in what the end goal could be, but his nerves were getting the best of him. His dad always said that he let his impulsive nature get the best of him, but he wanted--needed to protect them all. Protect Kara from herself, from whatever bad decision she was making despite the fact his chest felt empty and hollow, sharp words ringing in his ears.
Biting his tongue, red eyes immediately snapped to the other Kent, "I'm not a--" baby. Despite always being made to feel like one. Maybe it was the natural urge between siblings to prove yourself that was rearing its ugly head but he felt an equal amount of rage flare up in his chest for the briefest second for Conner. It didn't matter, did it? Maybe he would be to them just as bad as Clark was in their eyes. He got it all, while they got nothing, the barest hints of scraps and finally Kara had enough of it, enough of giving and giving and getting nothing in return from the world.
All expression was wiped from Jon's face, eyes dimming back to their normal shade of blue and he sat heavily on the couch. His arms loosely crossed over his chest, eyes flickering back over to Kara, or the image of her that he didn't recognize. The image that could've been there all along, but they had chosen not to see. "After all, how can we bear the brunt of those decisions being half breeds?" The snide comment was out before Jon could stop it, hurt feelings bubbling to the surface and boiling over like an unwatched pot. "Are we family? We're so human. Did you mean any of what you would say? Did you--" He lets out a harsh breath and swallows hard, shaking his head. He didn't want to know.
"You heard him. Leave."
KARA: It was almost enough to make her stall. She thought again of a cliff, of her hands digging into loose gravel and failing, slipping, falling. Her family meant so much to her. How it felt to see her crest on a new generation was indescribable.
Magneto had told her she would be forging herself a new home, that he would help. And Kara had imagined she would do so with family. For all the anger curling and twisting under her skin, she'd wanted Jon and Kon to stand with her. She'd wanted them to understand. A victory could feel hollow and empty. She could stand joyless in the aftermath.
But they stood defiant and the thoughts slipped away. Something seemed to tear as they did. Whatever reservations held before shattered, the small voice screaming stop muted like a hand had been slapped over her mouth. Leave, leave, leave. Her breath caught and dragged and if she'd been trying before, she couldn't. Not anymore.
They didn't want the crest, they didn't deserve it. Her eyes dimmed to cool blue, but red snaked through her veins, a sharp, eery glow. "It's not your blood. It's your choice."
She took a step back, trying to breathe around something the turmoil in her mind wouldn't let her feel. "Just stay out of my way."
And just as quickly as she came, she left.

Ma'am, how do you not realize you're contradicting your own points..... 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I'm asking you to please read this with a calm mind so you're not just reading it so that u can yell back at me, but actually understand what I'm trying to say.
1. No one is saying jem and will are a couple in the books. You said cc doesn't support heronstairs and we're telling you that that's where you're wrong. The screenshot where u "very smartly" underlined the not-on-page line, if u read just a few words ahead it says "just because it's not in the books doesn't mean it's impossible or that your headcanon is wrong or it couldn't happen"
2. From your next screenshot, cassie is simply stating as to why some people might think their relationship is romantic, she still isn't condemning or hating it like you're portraying it.
3. The links you're showing me are literally one line screenshots, not even the original tweets themselves ((maybe becuz they have long been deleted)) . You're literally showing me no context as to why she was writing these statements ((something literally u called me out for, even though the part I didn't share is only proving to work for my argument)) You may think using an obnoxious amount of laughing and crying emojis means you've done something great but sorry for the reality check, you still don't have a life.
4. Cc has still so many times said that every person's interpretation is valid. She literally said a few months back while commenting on a wessa/jessa ship wars post no one person's ship is more superior than someone else's. We live in a free world ma'am, u can't come and tell who I need to stop shipping.
Here is another link to a post where cassie is seen clearly supporting heronstairs.
https://cassandraclare.tumblr.com/post/102268541689/silentones-said-hi-cassie-i-just-wanted-to-show
And last but not least, all this was just to contradict your one argument that cc is against this ship. Now let me get this straight to you one last time-
Headcanon ships exist, and they're just as important if not more to the readers. It doesn't matter if cc didn't make it canon, we still love them and that's none of your business. Your whole argument is invalid cuz this goes beyond what's written in the books. There are a lot of ships I don't like either, but when I see someone shipping them I just go "cool" and move on. I don't know how empty your life needs to be that u have the urge to yell reasons at people to stop them from shipping fictional characters. We're not even asking you to ship them, we're just asking you to stop trying to make us hate them.
This is the last post I'm going to make on this matter, cuz like I said, u literally have only one argument that doesn't even work here and at this point I think you enjoy attacking and offending people. I will be blocking u, so I can go back to my normal world, and u can go back to your hateful and toxic one. This hours long conversation has already taken a lot of my study time, and unlike you I have bigger dreams than bullying teenagers when I grow up.
Soo.... Peace out ✌
To everyome who thinks heronstairs is a thing.
